In an alternative 2017 where computer viruses are still taking down businesses and social media algorithms are still programmed to profile everybody, join Aurora - the social platform that shines a light for everyone - in watching new user, Siward Walls, watching back.
Told entirely through the framework of a fictitious social network, and different from others of its kind in that Thomas represents the network’s algorithm alongside users’ posts, news headlines etc. Also set in an ‘alternate 2017’ and written in 2020... reading this in 2026 I can't tell which headlines are true to what might feasibly have been going on at the time, and which are extremely prescient! An enjoyable story that also actually made me think a bit harder than normal about what the tech I use is inferring about me and where that data’s going...
I really need to start tagging everything I read that’s mixed media/has interesting formatting
