Flowers don’t grow in gravel and mud.
This is my home… Our home. I won’t sit by and let anyone jeopardize what we have. Not even the blonde-haired, green-eyed ball of energy Ford hired. There’s something beneath the warmth she radiates that claws at my nerves to stay far, far away from her. So why do I feel the need to sink my teeth into the softness that is Magnolia Mae?

Stupid pompous cowboy.
I have never met a man grumpier than Ford. Until Bode Walker frowned and assumed I was someone else ready to threaten their sanctuary. Whiskey River was my home long before Walker and his worn boots stomped around here. Now that I’m back and with a mother who barely remembers my name, this ranch might as well be the only home I have left.

Bode Walker is a little bit brash, a lot more hard-headed, and he’s certainly not afraid to throw some punches when needed. He’s a walking thunderstorm with an aversion to sunshine and believes in the power of a freshly baked cookie. He’s also a fixer — a man who sees a problem at hand and comes up with a solution without having to be asked, like there’s no challenge he can’t handle. But when Maggie moves back to town and flips his world upside down, Bode soon learns that maybe the sunshine isn’t so bad and it’s worth taking a few hits if it means keeping her radiant light shining.

Magnolia Mae is sunshine personified. She’s a chatterbox who makes her own noise when it’s too quiet, a woman with a heart of gold, a soft spot for animals in distress and a dislike for stupid pompous cowboys. She’s spent her life being underestimated and is willing to prove more than a few men wrong if they tell her she can’t do something on her own. But she’s also fighting a battle in silence while she slowly loses the one person who means the most to her. And while she tries to be strong on her own, she quickly finds out that even the toughest of wildflowers needs a little nurturing to truly thrive and grow.

The love I have for Maggie & Bode (and Wanda the Wonder Cow) runs deep and fierce. Their story is one of grief, resilience and the power of love and had me in a literal chokehold from start to finish. Cowboy is the perfect mix of OG faves plus a few new faces that truly made for a beautiful story and I’m so excited that it’s out for the world to enjoy.

To Jessica and Aubrey, thank you for not only for the opportunity to ARC read but the privilege to Beta read for the first time, to share my outrageous thoughts and laugh/cry/swoon/grieve with these characters multiple times over. My love for you is truly endless and I will continue to scream it from the rooftops!

“There’s a reason wildflowers grow in every season, every terrain. They’re resilient, Magnolia.”

Another saddle them up and ride them hard, cowboy romance from Jessica and Aubrey. I loved Bode and Maggie’s story. Maggie is the true definition of sunshine. Through her ability to just bring a smile to anyone. Her attitude and smarts just like a warm ray of sunshine. Maggie goes through extremely tuff times in this story, Just like Bode felt, I could see the sunshine trapped inside her in those moments, her resilience and Bode by her side it was beautiful journey to read throughout this book. Bode the grumpy devilish cowboy he is. The way he takes care of the people he loves and his hard work and “I’ll fix that” attitude was not only physical but mentally and you see that with how he treats Maggie. It was so sexy! The spice was scrumptious as always. Jessica and Aubrey write cowboys you will drool over. The story line with Whiskey River continues to unfold and it keeps getting better and better. If those cowboys aren’t getting up to some sort of trouble, they are rescuing animals and having a good time in the hay loft lol. Maggie and Bode were an amazing second book in the Whiskey River series. I can’t wait for what is to come and all the spice and adventures Jessica and Aubrey have in store for us. A must read series!

I’m so glad the Whiskey River men are back, and now it’s finally Bode’s turn. This grumpy cowboy truly outdid himself. If you’re looking for a morally gray man who still cares deeply for the people he loves, look no further, because Bode is that man. He shows up for Maggie in her darkest moments. He is there when she needs him most, giving her love, patience, and steady support. He even builds her a pen for the calf she rescues. I mean, talk about a man who pampers his girl.

Maggie is going through incredibly hard times in this story. She is carrying the weight of the world on her shoulders, feeling stuck as she takes care of her mother while barely making ends meet. And when the inevitable happens and her mother passes away, watching Maggie struggle through her grief is heartbreaking. Still, she remains resilient, a true sunshine character. So, when her light starts to dim, Bode makes sure it shines again.

This is a sweet yet powerful story filled with suspense, cowboys, vulnerability, and people who love fiercely. There is also an accidental pregnancy trope, but it comes toward the end, so don’t let that stop you from reading. I definitely recommend this one, and I cannot wait to see what the authors have in store for the next books!

Thank you to Jessica and Aubrey for a copy of this great ARC!

This is the second book in the series.

Bode and Magnolia face a whole different set of challenges. Both walking a familiar path. The same path it just looks a little different for each of them. Both dealing with the hardships in vastly different ways.

Bode fights his feelings. He’s terrified but also desperately wants to hold onto Magnolia. He doesn’t want to feel for her but finds her lighting up his world at each turn. They are so different and so similar. He just wants to care for her and be there for her.

Magnolia isn’t sure why Bode acts the way he does. She does what she can to get him out of his shell. Then finds ways to show that she cares. That she wants to care for him.

As these two draw closer dangers arise on the ranch. While Bode and Magnolia fight for each other they also fight for their home.

The journey of the ranch is still on a dark journey. It has some hills to climb and logistics to work out. The found family in this series is so well done. It’s one of my favorite things about it. All the characters fight for each other. They come together and love hard. Both each other and their home. I love how hard they fight and the love they hold.

Truly a fun read.

First off I would like to thank Jessica & Aubrey for the opportunity to read and review this book.

Magnolia Mae & Bode Walker
Y'all it was an absolute blast to go back to Whiskey River. I had so much fun reading her, while I giggled and kicked my feet, I also felt my heart breaking and cried. Y'all this book was so beautiful done that you get stucked into the storyline and just need to know what is happening. I loved Maggie so much, I love that she's sunshine and strength. I know life dealt her a bad hand but she didn't let it kept her down and fought to make it. Bode is an angel, he is grumpy and rough around the edges, but has a heart of gold underneath and the way he stepped up for Maggie was so sweet. I love that he was all about action and not just words. Seeing these two damaged souls become one was so beautiful and refreshing to witness.

5/5 Recommend this book. While this book is written by two different people you would never know, it's flows as one and moves at the perfect pace. I absolutely adore this series and can't wait to find out who's up next 🫶🏼👀

Bode and Maggie were a dream. From start to finish I was utterly captured by their story. Forever there for eachother when they need it the most. Whiskey River is home away from home for me, I feel at peace whenever I land myself there.
Jess & Aubrey are beautiful writers and when they write together they create absolute magic. I can’t wait to go back to Whiskey River

In a Grumpy cowboy meets sunshine trope you get to fall in love with Magnolia Mae and Bode Walker. Everything about this book hooks you and makes you want to keep reading. Its fast paced setting and limited spice adds just that touch of flavor the book needed. Thank you Jessica and Aubrey for the opportunity to read this book. I now need book 3!!

Spice: 🌶️🌶️

If there’s anything I’ve learned from reading an Aubrey Taylor book, collab or not, it’s that it’s going to have spice, and it’s going to be so good!

I thoroughly enjoyed Bode and Maggie and how they make each other better in the best ways!

It's good to be back in Whiskey River! Bode and Magnolia's story is full. There's love, loss (as an umbrella term), action, families going through it, wholesome moments, morally grey cowboys doing morally grey cowboy stuff, and more. Every aspect is woven in beautifully and seamlessly.
Bode Walker, the man that you are. A man who shows up, a man who follows through, a man who protects and provides. He's Book Husband material through and through. (For reference, I only have one other Book Husband. I'm picky with this title.)
Magnolia is such a sweet soul and I adore her. Her love for animals, her friendship with Logan, and the way she keeps her head up through tough times stand out.
I was pleasantly surprised by a trope that I usually am wary of but it played out well in this book. The epilogue has a bit of a cliffhanger so I'm extra excited for Book 3, I'm so curious about what his nickname will be.
