"Colors are boundless when they aren't rules to live by. Embrace your true you."
Based on Lindsay's personal experiences, this collection portrays the journey from living by the expectations of others to finding your true identity. Because it's you who gets to decide how to live, not familial or societal influence.
Find Your Color houses poetry embracing the self--your true color--through words of love, inner child healing, and empowerment. This is a call for anyone who's been hiding to unlock who they are at the core.
A heartfelt and inspirational read for fans of various poetry types, including haikus, free verse, and rhyming. You deserve the space to love yourself for who you are, and to live for your own fulfilling happiness.
Lindsay Sfara is an author and poet surrounded by the creative chaos that is her voice acting husband and two cats in Ohio. With her collegiate studies in international politics and foreign languages, as well as her personal journey in mental health, she is inspired by the power of self and cultural storytelling to stand up against societal influence and pursue more than the static definition of success and happiness.
I typically don't read poetry. In fact while I was reading this book, I had the silly fear of "am I reading this wrong?" As if there was a specific way you're supposed to read poetry. I mean, I didn't have my beret, my cigarette, and I am unfortunately unable to snap.
Reading this book made me realize why I don't often read poetry. It's because poetry makes you THINK and FEEL, and this book certainly does that. Once the fear of improperly reading poetry went away, I was able to read and digest and reflect, which certainly was the author's intent.
I enjoyed the different styles of poems, and not a single poem felt out of place in this collection. This book will be one I certainly read again in the future.
I'm going to start this by saying, I have never read a poetry collection before, and even up until fairly recently had a complicated relationship with poetry. So I had no idea what to expect going into this. I took my time reading, each poem left me thinking--some resonated deeply with me, and others inspired me. The words along with the imagery and emotions they invoked were powerful. I will definitely be reading this again, and will be recommending this book to everyone I know.
