In the boomtown of Opalite, Damon’s fate seemed as predictable as the evening customers at the House of Eternal Moonlight.
I wasn’t one of Madam Roulette’s doves, but I was as much a part of this brothel as any of the painted ladies providing salvation to the miners and merchants of this Nevada town.
My loyalty to the House as the only home—the only family—I’d ever known was unshakable… Until the night I drew the Two of Cups from the tarot deck, and fate decided it had other plans.
Like many men, Max Luna arrived on our doorstep looking for a companion, but unlike the others, he insisted that companion was me. I tried to resist, but it wasn’t long before I found myself equally captivated with him in return.
Then, a dead body turned up in the back alleyway, covered in so much blood, I almost missed the bite marks on their neck.

This was a short and sweet (as sweet as can be) story that had me hooked from the beginning. I love a good period piece and getting the late 1800s backdrop really added to the story.
Both Max and Damon were such cheeky characters! I loved their flirting and overall banter. My hear goes out to Damon for feeling like he’s not enough for Max but, we shall see where there next book takes them!

well this was everything i needed it to be 🥵 i thoroughly enjoyed damon, max and their fated souls coming together! the swoony worthy meeting of these two had me sat, i loved how sweetly innocent damon was yet he was so curious and subconsciously aware that max was different and he ate that up, as did i. the stocking and camisole aswell? here for it ty!
so ready for more of these vamps, i cannot wait for book two.

Series: Trinity of Blood #1
Rating: 4 stars - It was really good
As soon as I saw that Rochelle’s next book was going to be a queer western with vampires, I was instantly sold and couldn’t wait. And needless to say, I devoured this book and couldn’t put it down.
Damon has lived his life in the House of Eternal Moonlight as a faro dealer, and occasional sex worker. When a wealthy man named Max Luna arrives and insists on Damon be his companion he finds himself struggling to resist him. But the town is no longer safe for Damon after a dead body is found in the back alleyway.
This was a fantastic vampire historical romance. I was hooked on Damon and Max’s story from the beginning. Damon grew up in a brothel and while he isn’t a dove, he still is owned by the Madame. He quickly realizes how fragile his current life is when the Madame offers him up to Max. I really like Damon. He is instantly smitten by Max but doesn’t fall into his arms right away because he doesn’t trust a rich man. I really loved seeing him fall for Max, especially as Max worshiped him and his body.
Max is a 300+ year old vampire from what is now considered the Philippines. He has been searching the world for his mate and finally found him in Damon. I loved Max and how he fell so hard and fast for Damon. He was possessive, but also sweet and kind to Damon. He showed Damon the wonders of intimacy during sex and worshiped the man. I also really loved how carefree he was about killing his enemies or those who get in his way.
Rochelle has created another fascinating world centered around vampires in the 1880s. I loved the worldbuilding and how this trilogy will span multiple centuries as it progresses. I really can’t wait to read the rest of the series and see how these two’s futures play out and how they end up in a triad.

This part of the story takes place in 1885, so the language used reflects that. Damon works as security (of sorts) in a brothel, where he was born and where he's lived ever since. (His mother was one of the 'doves' or working girls.) Max is new to town and has his eyes on Damon. He also happens to be a vampire. (Though no one knows.) There is an instant attraction on Damon's end as well, but he isn't one of the doves available for sale. Or is he? While there is spice, this story is more about the two of them building their relationship... and learning what, or who, exactly is Max and can Damon accept that or will he run away screaming. It's quite beautifully written. Alternate POVs. While their story will be continued in Parts 2 & 3, this one ends as though it is the end, so no cliffhanger, and if you do not wish to continue on with the story, you won't feel you are missing out on anything.

This was everything I wanted and more. It was sultry, emotional, filthy gothic perfection wrapped in a bow with edge of your seat intrigue.
I could have stayed immersed in this word for hundreds of more pages and yet it was a whole cohesive plot and the perfect first part of what will be a trilogy of time period novellas turned novel.
Both Damon and Max were wonderfully complex and utterly captivating characters and together they were explosive. I loved the found family, the tension, the pull, and the absolute havoc. It gave Lestat meets Wyatt Earp fever dream in the best way and I was LIVING for it.

Ooof this was HOT!!!! C hits every time. Max is somehow so sweet, but oh so murderous and possessive. Damon is such an endearing character. I really feel for him and what he's been through. It takes a special author to make you fall in love with characters in under 200 pages. I can't wait to see where this trilogy takes us.

Ahhhh I loved part 1 in this 3 part trilogy!!
It’s set in 1885 in an old west mining town where Damon has grown up until he meets Max who pays for him to have freedom!
Damon was such a lil cutie emotional baby who wants to be loved and wants to take care of Max.
Max is our traumatized vampire baby who only wants to woo his “lil pet”
If you’ve read C Rochelle before and love her then this will be right up your alley and you’ll fall in love immediately with the characters.
I’m excited to see where part 2 leads us, as it’s set 100 years in the future in 1985!!

I have 1 complaint, and 1 complaint only. I. Need. MORE. I love these 2 murder soulmates already, and this was only like 145 pages! Because of that it went a little faster than I'd like, but when it's a mate/ soulmate thing I can forgive the speed with which the relationship moves 😆 Despite that, I did feel you got to know each character enough to get a sens of who they were and how they thought. Which is impressive to achieve in such a short time. I can't wait to see how Star gets added to that delicious mix!

It’s 1885 and Damon lives and works at a brothel - after his mother passed giving birth to him he works his debt off by protecting the girls and working the floor.
Then Max comes to town, requesting him specifically and wanting to sweep him off his feet, wooing and courting him - while hiding his little vampire secret..
So enjoyed reading this, the romance and the spice were so great! The story has plenty to build on and I can’t wait to read more!

This was a fun quick read! I wasn't sure what expected when I started this but I'm here for it. I LOVE Max and Damon so much. I can't wait to see what these 2 get up to in the future. I also love how the author puts factual references into the story.

Gay Western Vampires? yes please! it was fun to see Max and Damon's origin story after reading about them in Vampires Totally Suck a while back, I can't wait to see the revamp (pun intended) of their 80s story and the finale in the coming installments.

First time reading this author and I loved this book so much. I wished it were longer!!! It was funny, intriguing, and full of damn good spice. The plot was so interesting too and I cannot wait for parts 2 and 3. I neeeeed it!

I loved this novella. Cowboy vampires, fated mates, touch him and die vibes, great banter, instalove. There was a lot packed into this novella. A bit a mystery, some romance, lots of spice. I loved Max and Damon and can't wait to read more of their story. This was a very fun quick read.

I was hooked from the start! I love when the black cat types who are affection starved (acts of kindness and physically) are smothered in it by a golden retriever type. Damon is the 🐈⬛️ in this case. Max is the 🐕🧛♂️. They are both precious, individually and together.
