"Hide the Witches is a stunning new romantasy series set in a world of magic and cool creatures. Miranda Lyn explores themes of power dynamics and loyalty, as well as a passion between witch and witch hunter that burns right off the page." —Demi Winters, New York Times Bestselling Author, Road of Bones

“This is exactly the sort of story I needed! Tension, an atmospheric world, the lore, the banter, the romance…I plan to visit again and again. There is no doubt in my mind the book world is about to erupt with love for this book!” —LJ Andrews, Internationally Bestselling Author, The Ever Seas

Some bonds are forged in blood. Others burn everything to ash.

In Grimora, secrets burn faster than witches, and Syneca Black is both. Forbidden fire magic courses through her veins, hidden behind a lifetime of lies because Hunters don't spare phoenix blood.

When her best friend vanishes and resurfaces on execution scrolls, accused of crimes that she couldn’t have possibly committed, Syn risks everything and volunteers for a hunt that could see both of them killed. It's the only way to protect the woman who is like a sister to her. But taking that oath means binding herself to Wickett, the legendary Hunter whose sharp eyes and lethal grace have ended countless witches’ lives.

Every moment beside him threatens to shatter her carefully built lies. Every stolen glance fans flames she can't afford to kindle. He's sworn to his cause. She's everything he's trained to destroy. But in a city where Sprites carry desperate messages and ancient Furies keep secrets, the most dangerous discovery isn't the growing fire between them. It's realizing that both hunter and hunted are dancing to someone else's deadly design.

When the blood debts come due, Syneca must save the woman who stood with her in shadows or trust the man whose touch feels like salvation.

Will the world burn or will she?

This gripping romantasy weaves Crescent City’s unbreakable found-family and layered mystery with Fourth Wing’s beastly bonds, heightened by the witch-and-hunter tension that defines Heartless Hunter.

Hide the Witches has completely wrecked me in the best possible way.

I don’t even know how to properly explain what this book did to me because “I loved it” feels wildly insufficient. This is, without question, my favorite Miranda Lyn book to date and honestly one of the most immersive, unforgettable fantasy worlds I’ve read in a long time.

The world building? Absolutely exquisite. I mean that. The level of detail, the variety of magical creatures, the depth of the lore, it all felt so intentional and so alive. This wasn’t just a setting, it was an experience. I felt like I was inside this world, discovering it piece by piece alongside the characters. I truly don’t think I’ve ever read anything quite like it.

And if you love witchy books?? Stop what you’re doing and pick this up. This is THE witchy read. The atmosphere, the magic, the tension it’s everything I want when I pick up a book like this and more.

The characters were just as compelling. The development, the relationships, the way everything slowly unfolds… I was completely invested. Every interaction mattered, every reveal hit, and I found myself so attached without even realizing when it happened.

And the twists??? ARE YOU KIDDING ME. Every single time I thought I had even the smallest idea of where things were going, this book proved me wrong. Over and over again. I was genuinely surprised, fully locked in, and completely unable to put it down.

This book consumed me. The writing, the world, the characters, the tension, the reveals, it all came together in a way that made this feel like something truly special.

I cannot stop thinking about it. I cannot stop talking about it. And I already know this is going to live in my head for a very long time.

Absolutely obsessed!!!

How the hell is the average rating for this so high? And how the hell did I let that fool me? I walked in genuinely expecting a masterpiece only to come across some of the most formulaic and underwhelming prose I’ve seen in ages.

The beginning was dreadfully boring to trudge through. I’m not a fan of lore being dumped on me like this. I want to gradually uncover pieces of the world as the story unfolds, not be flatly told “this is this, and that is that. Proceed.”

Piggybacking off of that, the writing style just wasn’t doing it for me. At all.

There’s a lot of short sentences back to back that give the feel of starting, stopping, starting, stopping, instead of moving smoothly through the narrative. It disrupts the flow and makes it difficult to stay immersed.

There are also a lot of moments where the story either tells or expects me to feel a certain way, and I just don’t really feel anything. And barely any world-building. I have almost no idea where or when we are.
I closed my eyes and listened to Calder breathe. Steady. Loyal.

He understood immediately, adjusted his fight to move Felix away from the falling stones instead of into them. Not mercy. Strategy.

Sentence fragments like these add tension when used selectively. Littered so excessively throughout like this—often back to back or multiple times on a single page—they lose their punch. Instead of building urgency, they leave the prose feeling choppy and repetitive.

That I enjoyed this book, despite all my issues with the writing, is a testament to the story itself. The plot was compelling enough to somewhat maintain my interest—enough that I had to finish it, but not to the point where I wasn’t constantly getting distracted while reading.

I also liked all the side characters very much. Calder, Lucy, and Pip truly elevated the story and I’m anxious to see how the three of them will fare in book two.

Needless to say, this pales in comparison to Heartless Hunter, but I was definitely noticing its influence all throughout. The parallels ran deeper than I thought they would.

When it comes to the romance, my issue was—perhaps done deliberately but still annoying—that Wickett never stopped feeling like a villain. I never felt him softening for Syneca in the way that you would expect if they were truly falling in love.

Not to mention, their attraction for each other, as well as Syneca’s trust in him, came completely out of nowhere. Their relationship had no foundation. When he was telling her all those pretty lies, and feeding her those empty promises, I was just sitting there with an eyebrow raised because how the fuck is she going to believe that shit when yesterday was day one and today is day two and bro is suddenly ready to give up everything he’s ever known for her? Come on.

Warning: major spoilers ahead.

The rest of this is more discussion than review.

I absolutely despise the bait-and-switch love interest swap type of ending we got here—what my roommate called “being Tamlin’ed”—which is partly why I never EVER read a series before it’s completed. I need to know what I’m signing up for. I’m also just extremely impatient and need to read the entire thing back to back, but that’s beside the point.

But this is what I get for making an exception this one time. Truly serves me right.

What drew me to this book in the first place was the witch/hunter romance promised in the marketing, so I can’t help but be frustrated that that’s likely not what we’re going to get moving forward.

I’ll still be reading the next book because I already read this one and I care enough to want to know what happens next, but I wouldn’t have picked it up at all if I knew this was going to happen.

📖: Hide the Witches

Rating: 5 stars + 1 shattered heart

From the very first page, I was instantly transported into this world where witches are hunted and fire magic is forbidden. Syneca’s kept herself carefully hidden—but when her best friend vanishes and is accused of both crimes, Syneca risks exposing the very secrets she’s fought to protect. When she’s forced to work with the notorious Hunter, Wickett, a battle of wills and loyalty ensues.

Tropes:
🧙Witch x Hunter
⚔️High Stakes
🔥Slow burn
🫂Forced Proximity
🧑‍🧑‍🧒‍🧒Found Family
💀Deadly Trials

I was blown away by this story! Miranda never fails to dole out emotional maelstroms, epic worlds, and unforgettable characters. The banter is biting, the tension is blistering, and Syneca’s devotion is unmatched. Her journey is perilous and laden with painful decisions and bargains.

Between the deadly secrets and prophecies, Hide the Witches is spellbinding and devastating in equal measure. I was floored by the twists and cannot wait for the next installment. In the meantime, please excuse me while I scream into the void 😭😩🤯

Huge thanks to the author for the review copy opportunity! This is my honest and voluntary review.

Hide the Witches by Miranda Lyn
Releases 4/20!

Thank you so much to Miranda for entrusting me with an early copy!

Witchy romantasy
Dual POV, witch x hunter, found family, bonded familiars, slow burn, hidden identity, forbidden magic, reluctant allies, expansive world building, many magical beings along with their origin stories, betrayal, deadly trials, magical sport, banter, oppressive leadership

Dedication: "For the readers who whisper "just kiss already" at fictional people like they can hear you. Don't worry, someone eventually gets naked. Promise."

In a brutal city where witches are regularly persecuted, Syneca is forced to use her magic in service to the Magistrate. But when her friend is in trouble, she finds herself in a brutal set of trials to determine who will have the "honor" of hunting said friend. As part of the trials she ends up magically bonded to a ruthless monster hunter. Will him claiming her life protect her or be her downfall?

Wow, wow, wow!! This story was so enthralling and ended way too soon! I adore Miranda's writing and this has been my favorite book of hers yet! I immediately wanted to reread the book after I finished with the knowledge that I had, and I love it when I find books like that. The world building is intricate and expansive and sucked me in from the very beginning. And the characters! Miranda does found family so well! I don't want to say too much here and give anything away, but this is going to be one of my top reads of the year and I am feral for the next one!!

Hide the Witches by Miranda Lyn, narrated by Laura Horowitz, is honestly one of the best books I have read so far in 2026.
I already loved the dedication going in, and once the prologue started, I immediately knew I needed to immersive read this with the audio because I was completely absorbed from the start.

Some of my favorite tropes were:
* Enemies working together
* High stakes
* Slow burn
* Forced proximity
* Hidden identity
* Found family
* Deadly trials
* And all the banter

This is how you write a story. Do I have questions? Yes, absolutely, and that’s exactly what Miranda Lyn intended. But did I ever feel lost at any point? Not at all.
The world-building, the magic system, and the characters were all written so well that if this had been 1000 pages, I honestly would not have minded one bit.

“The only thing that fees right is you”

I loved every single thing about this, but my favorite was our FMC Syneca Black. She is fierce, brave, and an absolute badass FMC, and I am already dying for book two because that cliffhanger at the end hurt. I also really enjoyed how the story was woven together, and I have so many theories already about where things are going next.

“I’m talking about choosing you.” His hands tightened on my waist. “Every day. Deliberately. Not because magic forces me to, but because I want to.”

🎧 The audio narration by Laura Horowitz was incredible, and honestly, am I surprised? She is a masterclass. I cannot praise her performance enough, her pacing, her tone, her verve, everything. I don’t even know how she does it, but if she narrates it, you need to listen. “Elevated” doesn’t even feel like a strong enough word for her work. Bravo.

This book introduces a world where witches are second-class citizens who are feared and hated but exploited. Syneca has spent 27 years hiding her true identity while living with her friend Vitoria, a fire witch, and Calder, an assassin. When Vitoria vanishes, the Magistrate brands her the Phoenix, which is a witch destined to end the world. Syneca joins the hunt to find her because she knows Vitoria is innocent for one simple reason: Syneca is the actual Phoenix. To survive the mission, she is forced into a magical bond with Wickett, a ruthless witch hunter who naturally isn't quite what he seems.

I am always complaining that romantasy lacks deep lore, but this book has it in spades. Even though there is a primer at the start covering the history and magic systems, it is still a lot to juggle. You have the Furies who brought magic to the world, the four demon princes of Underworld, spellcasting, elemental and rune magic, plus a whole bestiary of shifters, sprites, dragons, and nymphs. It is quite dense, and I am still not sure I have memorized it all.

Despite the solid writing and the mystery, the pacing felt a bit sluggish. Syneca and Wickett follow the standard witch and witch hunter blueprint with lots of longing stares and exclamations about how they shouldn't do this. It is a true slow burn, though I found myself wishing for a bit more heat.

The highlights for me were the motley crew assembled for the hunt and the detective-style investigation. It had those classic mystery tropes where dying witnesses whisper cryptic clues and stray buttons lead to major breakthroughs. I stayed for the mystery of Vitoria’s disappearance, but the ending is where things really picked up. The author dropped several twists that felt like total gaslighting, and now I am genuinely curious about the sequel. Plus, those demon princes of Underworld finally showed up, and let’s be honest: they are way more interesting than the witch hunters.

“Some promises were worth burning the world for.”

Y’all. Y’ALL. I’m calling it now - remember that one year that book with the cute dragons printed on the edges was released and it took a few months for it to pick up steam and the word to spread and suddenly it was EVERYONE’S favorite fantasy of the year?! That is this book for 2026. Once the word gets out, there is no way Miranda’s career isn’t taking off like wildfire. 🤯

What you’ll find in this book:
🫂found family
🐦‍🔥save the world
🔥slow burn romance/spice
💀deadly trials
🧙‍♀️forbidden love (witch x hunter)
😏BANTER
🐈bonded magical familiars
🗣️dual POV

I knew Miranda could write a good witch story. I fell in love with her through The Unmarked Witch series, after all… but this is *elite* writing. 😍 The world building? Supreme. The romance? Delicious. The feminine rage? ON POINT. I’m obsessed. I audibly gasped multiple times, and I am so soooo grateful Book 2 releases later this year!! I cannot wait!

A couple of noted quotes:
“But I was tired of giving them the power to make me small. To make me cower. I was tired of being hunted. And a witch could only take so much before she broke.”

“Sometimes people need hope more than they needed truth, even if that hope was built on nothing but good intentions and desperate optimism.”

“I am what you hunt. I am what you are sworn to destroy.”

“When the hunter becomes the hunted, fate reveals which paths lead to survival and which lead to graves.”

“‘I’d dance naked under a full moon in a circle of strange stones before I took orders from someone who barks at a sprite and makes her feel less than she’s worth. Do you also punch babies?’”

“I was the phoenix - I’d always been the phoenix.”

I am sitting here collecting my thoughts.

This book has the epic world building and magic systems that give me the things I love most about fantasy and witches! The characters are diverse all with their own agendas that had me flipping through pages faster than I could process.

Hide the Witches gives you some of those delicious elements of Crescent City and Heartless Hunter and mixes it all together to create something new and epic.

I read 70% of this book without realizing where I was in the book because the pacing and story flowed so well. At some points I forgot I was even reading.

Each twist had me gasping, every turn had me scrambling to keep going because there's no way that what I just read happened! right?!? RIGHT!? (SEND HELP. iykyk)

This book brings me back to the witchy elements that brought me to Miranda's door step the first time. It reminded me why I continue to stay. Her worlds are unlike anything I've experienced and I wish I was in them too.

This journey is the start of something wonderful and I will sit *not so patiently* as I await book 2!

This is my favorite book of the year! I have no doubt Miranda will hold this spot from January to December!

What would you do to save your best friend? Enter deadly games and trials? If she disappears after being accused of crimes she couldn’t have possible of committed, would you lead the charge to help find her and lure people away? Would you magically bind yourself to the hunter that has sworn to kill her - and maybe tou? (Bonus: he’s very very hot!)
If you said yes to these questions, then this is the book for you! It’s got everything you could want! Tension, slow burn romance, found family and a grumpy griffin and lovable sprite! Convince your bestie to read this with you cause the ending will have your jaw on the floor and salivating for book 2!

Thank you to Miranda Lyn for the ARC. This is my honest, voluntary review.

A world where magic whispers and danger breathes in the shadows

Some stories pull you in quietly, wrapping their magic around you until you suddenly realize you cannot look away anymore. 'Hide the Witches' is exactly that kind of story. From the very first pages, the world feels alive, layered with secrets, danger, and the constant feeling that something is lurking just out of sight.

The story unfolds through the perspectives of Syneca and Wickett, two characters whose voices feel distinct and compelling. Seeing the world through both of their eyes adds depth to the story and creates a rhythm that keeps the tension alive. Syneca’s strength and inner struggles make her fascinating to follow, while Wickett brings another layer of mystery and emotional complexity that keeps curiosity burning with every chapter.

What stands out most is the author’s writing style. The prose flows smoothly and effortlessly, making the pages turn almost on their own. The storytelling feels natural and immersive, allowing scenes to unfold vividly without ever feeling forced or heavy. It is the kind of writing that makes time disappear while reading, because the story carries you forward with ease.

The pacing is strong and carefully balanced. Moments of tension and danger are interwoven with quieter scenes that deepen the characters and strengthen the emotional stakes. The magical elements feel intriguing and well developed, building a world that feels both enchanting and dangerous at the same time.

By the end, this story leaves behind a lingering sense of anticipation and wonder, as if the shadows of this magical world are still watching from just beyond the final page.

This is one of those stories where you have to just let the plot cook. You’re going to go in thinking you’re getting one thing and you’re going to leave feeling like your brain just imploded and that everything you just read was a lie and nothing makes sense because holy hell what a curve ball the author just threw at us.

Syneca Black is a witch living in a place where witches are the scourge. Their power is equal parts disdained as coveted. When her friend goes missing Syneca will find herself in an unlikely alliance with a group of hunters blood bound to find her friend and kill her.

This book was layered with so many supernatural species and super interesting magic. In a world that lives and breathes rune magic and as one of the few remaining Rune Weavers, Syneca has to keep her head down and be smart. But a run in with Wickett Veyan, renowned Hunter and son of the countries totalitarian leader Syneca and Wickett’s relationship is anything but ordinary. Syneca carries deadly secrets and the last thing she needs is to find herself in close proximity to the renowned Ripper.

It’s so hard to say more without spoilers but this is definitely an enemies to lovers Romantasy you’re going to want on your TBR. The burn is slow and the tension is high. The banter is top notch and this is some of the best found family I’ve read in a while. Just lock in and enjoy the ride but watch out because the ending ends on a treacherous cliffy. I’m screaming into the void as I write this desperately wishing I had book 2 in my hands.

What’s inside:
- witch x witch hunter
- enemies to lovers
- bonded familiar
- the best found family
- a delicious tension filled slow burn
- so much banter
- unique rune magic

what the fuck!!! this book absolutely consumed me from beginning to end.

the world building and plot is incredible, this definitely gives crimson moth x crescent city.

we have witches, hunters, shifters, sprites, dragons, trials, PLOT TWIST AFTER PLOT TWIST, high stakes, betrayals, and my favourite: feminine rage.

what i absolutely loved most though was the characters. i loved the found family element and every character felt developed. pip and silas ugh 🥹🥹🥹

i actually can’t get over that ending??? like WHAT THE FUCK?!?! my jaw is still on the floor.

i need book 2 already and this one isn’t even released yet!!

also one of my fave things is that the author’s bestie is melissa k roehrich and she managed to get her surname into the book - you’ll spot it when you read it 🥰🥰

thank you so much miranda for the arc!!

Thank you to the author for an opportunity to read an ARC!

Definitely just not the book for me unfortunately 😓
Nothing got super interesting in my opinion until 60%. I enjoyed Calder and Pip the most for characters. The romance aspect was predictable and just felt more like insta-lust than anything which I guess in the circumstances of the story makes sense. I wanted more depth of the characters' relationships with each other. Or just more of the lore of the Furies, because that was honestly the most interesting part.

(Sorry my reviewers are never overly detailed. Just explaining it how my brain takes it)

This was such a fun, addictive read. It had so much mystery and intrigue, plus witches, Lycans, shifters, and so many other creatures throughout that it kept me hooked the whole time. If you like found family, enemies to lovers, and high political stakes, I’d definitely recommend this one.

The prologue was really different from what you would typically see, but I actually liked that. “Burnings, Betrayals and Other Bedtime Stories” is such a good title, and the prologue itself read almost like an index mixed with a synopsis. Not in a bad way though — it actually ended up being something I kept mentally referencing while I read.

There’s a competitive game throughout the story that gave me the same magical vibe as Quidditch in Harry Potter. Not because it was the same, but it gave me that same kind of feeling.

My jaw dropped more than once while reading this. And chapter 46? WTF, Miranda?!

This does end on a cliffhanger, and I’m already impatient for book two.

There is one spicy scene, open door but pretty mild compared to others. There’s cussing throughout, and death both on and off page, so I’d definitely call this New Adult.

As always, check trigger warnings.

"He tasted like desperation and dark promises, like every forbidden thing I’d ever wanted but had been too smart to reach for".

The slllllooooooow burning had me on FIRE!

Between the forced proximity, the slow burn, and enemies to lovers tropes, I was eating this up.

I really loved this authors story telling and worldbuilding. Witches, hunters, familiars, and all sort of creatures are sprinkled into this book and I really enjoyed discovering them with every turn of the page.

This was highly enjoyable and a must read for any romantasy reader!

"Blood calls to blood, and the deepest magic demands the highest price"
First off, thank you to Miranda Lyn and her team for opportunity to ARC read this amazing story and oh boy was it good. This is probably one of the most balanced books I have read this year in regards to world building, plot development, character arcs, and pace.
In this story full of magic, blood oaths, deadly trials and magical creatures we follow Syneca a witch who lives with a secret that can change everything.  When she must make a choice between a friend who is like family and an oath she made, it is more than just her life in the balance.
This book absolutely needs to be on your TBR.

What…WHAT??!! What the frickety frack was that Miranda!!! This book was riveting and so utterly addictive that I had a hard time putting it down!
𝑯𝒊𝒅𝒆 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑾𝒊𝒕𝒄𝒉𝒆𝒔 starts her newest series off with an absolute BANG in the most phenomenal way‼️

Miranda has done it, yet again, with a masterfully crafted story. Her writing just has a way of immersing you so deeply into the narrative, like she’s secretly whispering a spell mixed within the words. The world is deeply vibrant dangerous and deadly with - political intrigue, a dystopian society filled with oppression, blatant abuse of power and the most magnificent system of magic. There are witches, witch hunters, shifters, sprites, demons, bonded familiars, Furies and an always hungry “rune eater”!

🧙‍♀️ “…𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚 𝙬𝙖𝙨 𝙣𝙤𝙬𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚 𝙡𝙚𝙛𝙩 𝙩𝙤 𝙝𝙞𝙙𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙘𝙝𝙚𝙨.” 🧙‍♀️

The plot flowed effortlessly as I blazed through the pages. This is EVERYTHING you want a dark fantasy romance book to be! Hidden identities galore, forbidden magic, witty banter, slow burn, depth of emotion, betrayals and secrets that had me gasping, and a mind blowing twist! Good lord I did NOT see that coming to save my life. The character development was excellent with so much diversity. They are lovable, relatable and form the most unique found family after a rocky start as reluctant allies. But they all have their secrets to hide. I knew from the start that this book was going to be explosive. With that ending I fear the next book is going to rock my world that much harder and I’m HERE for every bit of it!

Thank you Miranda Lyn for entrusting me with an early digital copy of your book. I am eternally grateful for your exquisitely crafted worlds!

*edit to add, I read the last chapter just cuz I was interested after reading the reviews. Yeah I still don’t like it lol.

This books wasn’t good. The writing left a lot to be desired…

The scene transitions weren’t great, so I was always confused who was in the room or who was speaking. There was also very little world building. I didn’t know what time period we were in. There was lots of modern language, but no real description of the scenery. I didn’t know what the characters looked like, nor what the landscapes looked like.

The plot just didn’t make sense… Being FORCED into deadly trials where you have to kill your fellow magical outcasts just so you can be forced by oath to track down and kill an evil fire witch? Nothing made sense and it was just dumb to be honest.

Also, the dialogue was incredibly cringe. The MMC and his over the top brooding was also cringe. None of the side characters had any real depth, just the typical sidekick stereotypes (the bubbly airhead, the dark and mysterious lady warrior, etc).

This book surprised me because I’m pretty sure the author has written quite a few books. This felt like a very amateur first draft. ALTHOUGH, I did think the idea was really cool. I was interested to see it to the end just to get some answers about the mystery but the longer I read, the cringier the romance was getting and I just couldn’t do it anymore.

I was wrong about ✨everything.✨

Hide the Witches absolutely destroyed me—in the best way. I genuinely don’t remember the last time a book caught me this off guard.

Hide the Witches is one of those rare stories where you think you understand the direction it’s going—where you start forming theories, connecting dots—and then realize you were wrong about everything.

Not a single major twist was predictable for me, which made the reading experience incredibly immersive and honestly a little disorienting in the best way. The story constantly shifts your understanding of what’s happening, who can be trusted, and what the stakes really are.

Emotionally, this book is devastating. It leans heavily into themes of trust, betrayal, found family, and survival, and it does not pull its punches. The deeper you get, the more everything unravels—and it hits hard.

Syn is a standout main character. She’s guarded, intelligent, and deeply loyal to the people she considers her own, which makes everything she goes through feel even more impactful. I’m especially excited to see how she continues to grow into her power moving forward.

The world building was rich and took me took a minute at the start, particularly with the different magical races and terminology, but the glossary was genuinely helpful, and once everything clicked into place, it added depth to the story rather than confusion.

And the ending… I’m still processing it.

It’s one of those endings that leaves you both stunned and desperate for more, and I absolutely need book two as soon as humanly possible.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (and honestly, more)

This book was a lot of fun!
It has lore (not so much where it can be overwhelming), complex characters, humor, cute and sassy familiar, and found family. There was definitely some influence of Harry Potter in the quirkiness and spell work. I thought it was very neat how the author actually included spell words for the witches.
There was also depth to the work the fantasy species did (witches stuck making cheap runes and paper work duty!), and I was very intrigued in how runes worked. I loved seeing how the fantasy species worked together (or not).
The author does a good job at keeping the reader intrigued by throwing narrative curve balls at you to further progress the story. The ending had me so stressed, and left my mouth literally agape.
Fully recommended. One of the better reads I've had this year.

The was a page turner if I ever seen one. You have witches being hunted and monitored; Syn is a witch just trying to stay under the radar; but she gets dragged into a trial she never wanted to be apart of only to save her best friend; then bonded to the witch hunter thats sworn to 💀 her best friend. This is found family thrown together with a rag tag group forced into the hunt and 💀 her best friend. Who does she trust; can she trust anyone? she has one train of thought find her friend and save them from death. This has mystery, magic, who done it and the twistist of twist. I believe you should be compensated for the PTSD you may have after this but bookn2 is coming so there is that to look forward to..That cliffhanger is a doosy.

4.5 STARS!!!

EASILY my favorite from Miranda Lyn so far.

I’m actually still spiraling a little over that ending because WHAT?? I did not see that coming at all and now I need answers immediately....

The witchy elements felt so fresh and unique, and I was completely locked in the entire time. And can we talk about the familiars for a second??? Because I am OBSESSED. I don’t know what it is, but give me magical bonds, animal companions, ride-or-die little creatures… I eat that up every single time.

The vibes were vibing.

The side characters + found family relationships felt real, messy, supportive in that “we’re in this together whether we like it or not” kind of way.

But honestly? My favorite part might have been the constant feeling of: I don’t know who to trust... (and these feelings are VALID)

Like every time I thought I had things figured out… nope. Wrong again. The tension from that alone kept me turning pages because I needed to know who was actually on her side.

And then the ENDING??? DONE... UNWELL

What I Loved
- Unique witchy magic system
- Familiars (!!!)
- Found family / strong side characters
- Constant “who can I trust?” tension
- Twists I did NOT see coming
- Ending that leaves you spiraling

Vibes
- Dark magical tension
- Slightly eerie, slightly cozy, but also stressful in the best way
- Emotional investment in everyone (even when you’re suspicious of them)

Big thanks to Miranda Lyn and her team for the eARC copy and opportunity to share my unfiltered thoughts!

As an avid ARC reader, you sometimes stumble across new-to-you authors who completely sweep you away—and this was absolutely one of those books 💜
High stakes, a truly unique magic system, and a story I simply couldn’t (and wouldn’t) put down. I devoured it.
From the very beginning, the world-building hooked me. It’s layered, immersive, and filled with elements that keep unfolding in the best way✨

What I Loved:
✨ Delightful sarcastic banter
🖤 Deadly trials and blood sport
✨ Smart, thought-provoking characters
🖤 the intense push and pull of the hunted and hunter
✨ New alliances and found family
🖤 A grumpy, protective familiar (a standout!)
✨ Twists that genuinely left me stunned
🖤An author—and a series—that makes you excited to keep reading

The story weaves together secrets, prophecies, and a richly imagined world of witches, hunters, sprites, shifters, and more. There’s just the right amount of yearning and angst to keep you emotionally invested, whether you’re rooting for characters or hoping for their downfall.
One of the strongest aspects was the cast. The “side” characters never felt secondary, they each added depth, tension, and momentum, making scenes more gripping and often leaving me clutching my Kindle.

The pacing is fast and relentless in the best way. It never drags, constantly raising the stakes and evolving the story so you need to keep reading.
Miranda Lyn has a talent for pulling you in quickly, with distinct, memorable characters and a world that feels alive from the start.

You never really know what you’ll get when you take a chance on a new author or series—but for me, this delivered everything I love in adult fantasy💜

Thank you to the author for the opportunity to read this e-arc and provide my own thoughts.

✨ARC review💜

Hide the Witches has been one of my top reads this year! If you love witty banter, a forbidden romance, found family and plot twist you won’t see coming then this book is for you! I couldn’t put it down and the plot twist just kept coming. The world building was such an amazing part of this story! It was so immersive and I felt like I was there with the characters. I loved finding out more about the world as our FMC does. The magic system felt unique and was easy to follow along with.

Syneca Black is such a well written FMC who doesn’t back down and is complete bad ass who doesn’t take shit and would do anything for her friends. I really enjoyed the multiple layers we got to see to Wickett the more the story went on and seeing how their relationship developed over time and I can’t wait to see what’s next for these two!

The side characters made this even better! The found family bond that grows over time is one of my favorite parts. I also really loved that each character had a distinct personality and were so different from each other! I also really loved all of the different types of characters like the shifters and sprites. I also love me a good broody griffin and dragon!

The ending was such an unexpected twist and it shattered my heart and I’m already excited for book 2!!

Thank you Miranda for giving me the chance to ARC read for you💜
