Another small town romance with spice and an HEA from Laura!
oh my GOSH LAURA HAS DONE IT AGAIN!! i am fully obsessed with how she writes small town romance and her characters! The male characters NEVER fail to make me laugh and the groupchats are always 10/10!! i LOVE the found family aspects of this book and how accepting and loving the women are to each other!! and of course I fell in love with Bass and Briar!! i love an enemies but not really enemies to lovers tropes because the back and forth banter is always *chef (pun intended) kiss* i just love how they both show up and take care of each other in the ways they each have been missing!!
Blue Sky Bay is shaping up to be one of my all-time favorite Laura Pavlov series!!
Bass Bennett and Briar Sinclair are truly something special. I loved the tension in the beginning, but it was the raw vulnerability that had me flipping the pages. Both Bass and Briar are guarded for their own reasons; there’s a quiet understanding of pain between them that made this one unforgettable. I felt every single emotion of their story; this was an easy 5 star for me.
Briar is one of the most lovable FMC I’ve ever read. Seeing her find love, family, and her home was so rewarding. I loved the way Bass loved her, I loved her relationship with her brother, and I LOVED the girl gang vibes here!
The girls. Gosh, I loved how Gracie and Tatum took Briar in. It was evident from the start that she belonged in Blue Sky Bay. The instant friendship was so heartwarming.
The guys text thread is THE BEST!! I am so excited for the rest of this series. Phoenix is up next but I am crossing my fingers we get a brothers best friend/bull rider with Jovi and Cannon!
“𝒀𝒐𝒖’𝒓𝒆 𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒚𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑰 𝒏𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝒌𝒏𝒆𝒘 𝑰 𝒏𝒆𝒆𝒅𝒆𝒅.”
If you are in the mood for a small town romance with HEART, healing, and the sweetest HEA, 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐋𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐆𝐨𝐨𝐝𝐛𝐲𝐞 releases October 6th!
HUGE shoutout to Laura and Valentine PR for the gifted eARC and the most stunning special edition of 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐋𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐆𝐨𝐨𝐝𝐛𝐲𝐞. All opinions are my own.
Laura Pavlov does it once again, as we are welcomed back into Blue Sky Bay.
Bass Bennett + Briar Sinclair, or more affectionately known as McGrumpy + Magpie.
Bass is happy and content with his life as a chef who owns his own restaurant. It’s allowed him to do what makes him happy while being able to support his sister Jovi through college. Until one day, Briar comes to town from a Fortune 400 company and quickly becomes his arch nemesis as she’s a threat to everything he holds dear.
Bass and Briar come from troubled family dynamics, and as they work through solutions that are beneficial to all parties involved on the professional side, they quickly show up for each other on the personal side.
Since Bass lives in the small town of Blue Sky Bay and Briar lives in New York City, they know that their time together is limited; however, they can’t deny that there’s an intense pull to one another.
This book proves that family isn’t always blood. We have forbidden love, enemies to lovers, found family, and the sweetest, most heartfelt small town romance.
One of my favorite things about Laura’s books are the group chat texts. I continuously laugh at the random insults… and now there’s a creative use of the bowling ball emoji that is simply pure genius.
Who knew insults and name calling could actually be so hilarious? For example, cheesedick. Enough said.
Receiving an ARC for a Laura Pavlov book is what dreams are made of and I am so very grateful! 🩷
Raise your hand if you’ve found your happy place at Blue Sky Bay…it’s me, I totally have.
Seriously, but Laura Pavlov gives some of the BEST small town romance. She is a master at her craft, and The Last Goodbye did not disappoint. I feel utterly and thoroughly spoiled having just turned the last page of this book. It was all of my favorite things wrapped into one sweet, sexy, romantic package.
I'm so in love with literally everything about Bass and Briar's love story. Their enemies to lovers tension, their banter, their chemistry, and their emotionally tender moments were absolute perfection. They were a perfect match, and they were both insanely likeable. I loved their playful dynamic and how it slowly burned itself into something deeper, more complicated, and wonderfully rewarding. So much romantic goodness on these pages! I LOVED every moment of their story.
This was absolute romance perfection for me, and an effortless five stars. It felt like a warm hug, and left me with the biggest smile on my face. I adored it and, as is the usual arrangement with this series - I know there's more goodness to come, and I am so here for it!
Thank you so much Laura Pavlov and Valentine PR for this ARC!!
Do you have an author who no matter what they write, you will read it? Well that's Laura for me. Her books are like a balm to my soul. They feel like they heal something inside me that I didn't even know needed healing. The Last Goodbye was just magic to me.
Bass is a chef in Blue Sky Bay who owns his building but the land underneath it belongs to someone else. He relies on his restaurant for many things but first is to put his sister through college. He does NOT want to sell.
Briar is on a mission to get Bass to sell now instead of waiting 2 more years. And OH BOY! The way she gets her foot in the door had me HOWLING with laughter! She is resourceful and funny but she is also caring and wants the best deal for everyone.
The spark between Bass and Briar is immediate and never dies. The way the found family in this book shows itself in so many ways is beautiful. They all show up for each other and they have decided that Briar is now included in that family.
If you love LOVE and adults working through their obstacles is the most grown up and mature ways, you would LOVE this book (and really ANY of Laura's books!). She has literally THE BEST text threads EVER!! The banter is always top tier and the love between every single person is felt through the pages.
I won't spoil anything but I suggest if you have not read any books yet by Laura Pavlov that you start IMMEDIATELY!! I promise you, you WILL be hooked!!
Can I get a book on my Phoenix now? Please?? PRETTY PLEASE??!!!
I have much to say because BASS AND BRIAR ARE EVERYTHING AND MORE. 🥹🩷
Laura Pavlov absolutely delivered with this one. The enemies-to-lovers tension, the small-town setting, the banter, the chemistry, the emotional moments… I ate up every single second of Bass and Briar’s story. Watching these two go from being firmly on opposite sides to slowly realizing that maybe the person they’re supposed to hate is actually the person they can’t imagine living without?! YES. PLEASE. 👏🏼
Briar came to Blue Sky Bay determined to get what she wanted, and Bass was just as determined to make sure she didn’t. Their back-and-forth had me smiling, laughing, swooning, and eventually CRYING. Underneath all that tension was so much heart, and I loved watching their walls slowly come down.
And Bass?! SIR. 🫠🫠🫠
But THAT ENDING?! Laura, excuse me while I recover. 😭 It was everything I wanted and more, and I was absolutely not ready to say goodbye to Bass and Briar.
But then you’re telling me PHOENIX GETS HIS STORY NEXT?! WITH TATUM?! 👀
NUFF SAID.
I already need it. 😂 I cannot WAIT to head back to Blue Sky Bay early next year! 💙🌊
Laura, thank you SO much for entrusting me with this precious story. 🥹 It has truly been such a pleasure being an ARC reader for you, and I’m incredibly grateful every single time I get the opportunity to read one of your stories early.
A huge thank you to Laura Pavlov and Valentine PR for the #gifted eARC AND for sending me a physical ARC. This beautiful copy is going to be treasured always. 🥹🫶🏼
ARC REVIEW- Book 2 of the Blue Sky Bay series was everything I love about Laura Pavlov’s books. This found family is just as tight knit as previous series. I love that we get references to past series and characters in this interconnected world she has created. Enemies-to-lovers is always one of my favorite tropes and this did not disappoint and it felt different from previous books I have read with the same trope. These 2 were enemies with a common goal and a mutual misunderstanding of the other which made for tons of witty banter but also burying the hatchet much sooner. It was honestly a surprisingly nice twist that lead to a faster moving timeline. Throw in some good old fashioned family drama, tear jerking 20 year old letters, and you will see why these 2 were made for each other and so deeply bonded with their found family!
Briar Sinclair was feisty and headstrong. Determined to make a name for herself while still holding on to her integrity and protecting the people who truly mean something her.
Bass Bennett is the stereotypical grump, but he too will protect those he loves no matter what! And surprise!- he can be a big softy when he thinks no one is looking.
This book available wherever you purchase book from on October 8th, 2026.
So this starts with a bang. And I mean that in the best way. I was fully prepared to dislike Briar, but the fact that she 100% owned her tactics actually made me cackle at her audacity and her genius moves. Even Bass needs to give her credit for it…eventually. A few of the guys see her genius for what it is immediately and call him on it, too. The women see it. All of his friends eventually see it when Bass eats both feet while still leaving room for his pride to fit in his mouth also. And that’s just the start….
Briar’s father is a piece of work, but she and her brother handle things perfectly. The second truths come out, lines are drawn and Briar is terrified that she’s losing everything she’s ever wanted, but again, brother has her back! And it helps that Cutler helps Bass to see the truth of what’s happening, then immediately cause him to realize that he needs to support Briar up close, rather than from afar. Briar doesn’t need someone to fight her battles, but she does need someone to stand by her side and have her back. She gets that in incredible measures here and I adored every minute of it!
So now I shall wait for the next story. I’m trying not to peek to see who or what will happen, but I know that won’t last because I need more!
Blue Sky Bay has already become a place close to my heart, and after meeting Bass in Cutler’s story, I couldn’t wait to read his enemies-to-lovers romance. Briar won me over from the moment she appeared on the page, and I absolutely loved the way she first caught Bass’s attention. You go, girl! This story pulls you in from the start. I loved watching Bass and Briar’s relationship develop from tension and friendship into something much deeper as they slowly let their walls down and open up to each other. As they learn more about one another, they realise they have far more in common than either of them expected, which made their connection feel authentic and heartfelt. One of my favourite parts of this series is the incredible found family and friendship group that surrounds the main characters. The group chats are back, bringing plenty of laughs and smile-worthy banter, and they add so much warmth to the story. I’m completely hooked on this series and that sneak peek at the end has left me counting down the days until book three! Highly recommended for anyone who loves small-town romance, found family, and an addictive enemies-to-lovers story.
Thank you Laura Pavlov and VPR for the ARC of The Last Goodbye!
Laura Pavlov has done it again. At this point, I know every time I get my hands on a new book of hers, I’m about to get a small-town masterpiece, and *The Last Goodbye* did not disappoint.
The found family in Laura’s books is always one of my favorite parts, but it hit even harder this time because of how much Briar needed this group of people in her life. The boys’ group text was hilarious as always, and I loved watching Tatum and Gracie pull Briar into their little group so effortlessly. She fit right in, and seeing her finally have these people in her corner made my heart so happy.
Briar and Bass definitely got off on the wrong foot between her trying to buy the land his restaurant was on and Bass having some pretty strong preconceived notions about who Briar was. And let me tell you…the banter was BANTERING. But once they finally realized they had completely misunderstood each other? GAME. OVER. These two were endgame, and they were absolutely perfect for each other.
I am loving this series so much and already cannot wait for book three!
Oh Laura, you do not disappoint! What a book! I loved being back at Blue Sky Bay and the gang again and finally knowing more about Bass’ story. These two may think they are enemies but their common ground was strangely similar although with different reasons. Bass had been let down by his mother in the past whereas Briar lost her mother and grandmother (the 2 women who raised her) in a short time. Their guards are up but when they find common ground they are unstoppable. Found family trope at its finest. I loved how the girl gang welcomed Briar into their fold straight away and the boy group were at their finest with their banter. Get ready for 2 stubborn and headstrong people who realise they cannot live without each other. This series is going to be amazing because Laura keeps getting better and better with this series and I for one am completely hooked and cannot wait for Phoenix next. Thank you so much to Laura and the team at Valentine for this eARC in exchange for my honest review
No one writes small town romance like Laura Pavlov and this is another winner. After her mother died, Briar Sinclair is all alone in the world until she finds the father she never knew and the rest of his family. Briar now works for her father and is set to oversee the building of a new hotel in Blue Sky Bay but in order for that to happen the restaurant belonging to Bass Bennett needs to be relocated. Bass Bennett is determined not to be manipulated but ultimately agrees. What starts off as attraction, soon develops into something much deeper but family dynamics and deceit threaten to tear them apart.
This book shows the beauty of found family, the bonds of girl talk and the joy of small town living. The characters in this book are amazing. Bass and his band of brothers are both hysterical and friendship goals! There text chats and the banter are so funny and quick and always bring a smile to you face. Ms. Pavlov is a wonderful writer, with stories that warm your heart and bring you joy.
I was so thrilled to get an advance copy of this book - and it did not disappoint in the slightest! Bass and Briar are everything you hope for in strong lead characters. The way their stories interconnect and how they find ways to make peace after a very rocky start is so fun to read. They start off as enemies (really more adversaries) but they are both so much more than their stereotypes as they are about to find out. All of the male lead characters in this Blue Sky Bay series consider themselves “found family” that are extremely tight and are always there for one another. This was Bass’ turn and Laura did a fabulous job in creating the perfect grumpy chef to battle with the sunshiny but determined Briar out to buy his restaurant! I loved this couple and was really pulling for them🥰! If you love Laura’s books, you definitely don’t want to miss this one!! If you haven’t read Cutler’s story in My Forever Girl, the first book in the series, you’ve got time to get caught up!
“That will be our last goodbye, Briar. No more leaving. No more running. No more goodbyes. I’m not going anywhere.”
The ARC of The Last Goodbye hit my kindle right before an 8 hour flight and I devoured this!
Briar Sinclair and Bass Bennett were such a fun enemies to lovers. Briar shows up in Blue Sky Bay to buy the land Bass’s restaurant is on. The only problem is that the land is not for sale. Bass is immediately on edge and against everything to do with Briar. However, as time goes on and he gets to know the real Briar and not just his assumptions so much changed. I loved their tension leading up until the moment they broke.
“What do you say, Magpie? Date me until you hate me?”
Briar and Bass had childhood trauma, adulthood drama and so much love. I enjoyed every second of this book and I am obsessed with this series!
Briar is in town trying to buy the restaurant Bass has built in order to build a hotel.
Bass is vehemently against it but she is determined to sell him on this sale.
But they end up butting heads quite a few times until he learns that she’s not exactly what he imagined & she actually had good intentions towards his restaurant.
And now those pesky feelings they both tried to deny came roaring back & things happen & yeah they are perfect together.
But of course, Briar’s family comes in to try & ruin the good she’s down but man with the help of her brother, she shows up & becomes a total baddie standing up to her father. I absolutely loved it!
This book was sweet & had the right amount of tension between these two characters. It was so amazing to read & I highly recommend it.
I’ve been looking forward to this book since Laura announced she was doing a new series set in Blue Sky Bay. Bass and Briar may start off as enemies but one spark quickly develops into a full blown inferno. She’s guarded, looking for a place to belong and he’s determined to keep his restaurant up and running, despite the building being bought out from under him. Can these two reach a compromise before it’s too late? Will the pressure Briar feels from her father send her running back to the city? One thing is for sure, when Bass sets his sights on something, or someone, nothing will get in his way.
Tropes: Enemies to lovers Found family Grumpy x sunshine He falls first
Fave quote: That will be our last goodbye, Briar. No more leaving. No more running. No more goodbyes. I’m not going anywhere.
"Briar Sinclair proving me wrong just might be my new favorite thing."
Returning to Blue Sky Bay was pure perfection! Bass and Briar’s chemistry was off the charts, and watching their stubbornness turn into genuine connection made for such an incredible read. This book hit all the best romance tropes—from enemies-to-lovers and grumpy sunshine to a cozy small town romance.
Seeing how warmly the girls took to Briar made the found family element shine, and I loved the bond between Bass and his sister Jovi. Plus, the way Bass supported Briar through her family struggles was genuinely sweet. Laura Pavlov delivered the perfect mix of tension, tenderness, and small-town charm. If you love a hero who falls hard and a story packed with emotion, do not skip this one! Thank you Laura Pavlov for the opportunity to read this ARC. I can't wait to read Tatum and Phoenix's story!
everytime i open up a laura pavlov book it feels like a warm hug. im loving this series so much and briar and bass gosh i love them. this was all the enemies to lovers, but it was also so emotional bc of both of their upbringings.
briar is afraid to let anyone in bc everyone in her life has left her and bass is used to being in control of everything and not slowing down and feeling at peace until they find each other. they are at peace with each other. and seeing cutler and gracie again was everything my babies. i love a broody man and bass was giving all of that, but hes grumpy with her bc he likes her and then hes grumpy with everyone but her which is honestly my fav.
if you want a book that is unputdownable and bingeable pick this book up when it comes out.
(4.8 Stars) Briar Sinclair is in the cozy small town of Blue Sky Bay to purchase Bass Bennett’s restaurant. Too bad he wants no part of selling to her! She needs the land its on but he wont budge. Now, stuck there until he does, can these two find a way to negotiate a deal that works out for them both? Maybe sometimes your enemy is better as something more! What a sweet slow burn, small town romance with these two going head to head. I really enjoyed their banter. They also may be from different worlds but have more in common than first thought. Love all the friend vibes too with everyone in town. Told in first person and dual POV.
I absolutely inhaled this oh my god. This is classic Laura and The last goodbye was just right. Talk about enemies to lovers Bass and Briar wheeww. Let me tell you flames were being thrown, oh the angst was just perfect. Bass a chef and restaurantar and Briar a lawyer who is looking into buying the land where Bass's restaurant is. Such fun this book was to read. But then came the emotional punches , I was not ready for that. My gosh this book was just right and perfect. Can't wait for the rest of the series.
This is why Laura is my favorite author. She makes you fall in love with every aspect of her books. From the town, the characters & everything in between AND she does it every single time.
Bass & Briar were perfect. The banter in the beginning & even through out the whole book had me laughing out loud. To no surprise I also found myself tearing up at certain parts. Laura is also the queen at text messages!! It really makes me feel part of the group. Ugh I just love this series so much & can’t wait for more!!!
Blue Sky Bay is so far a HUGE hit for me! Bass and Briar...just absolutely everything the other needed and they didn't even know it. Their tension and banter was immediately a hook. I looooove the fun push and pull of an enemies to lovers done right, when they aren't disrespectful to one another like some books can be. They are more alike than the know, and it was truly a pleasure seeing them blossom into what they became. The banter between the male friend group is almost the best part, they never fail to make me laugh to myself. I loved this story and I can't wait for what comes next!
✨Enemies to lovers ✨"It's a fling!" When it was never a fling ✨Found family
The Queen does it again! Laura writes found family small town romances that never fail to have me giggling and kicking my feet. There is a sense of home and security that comes with all of her characters, and this series is no exception. Briar & Bass, those crazy kids, were a delight to read about and I loved every second of these two learning to trust each other and give in to what they wanted.
Thank you so much to Laura Pavlov for letting me be on her ARC team! 🩷
-small town romance -enemies to lovers -workplace romance -grumpy x sunshine -forced proximity -he falls first -found family
omg these two falling for each other was a great journey to witness & entertaining to boot!! i always know i can count on laura to make her characters realize their true worth & fight for what they want & ALWAYSSS have an amazing found family behind every step of the way!! tried & true!!
Bass and Briar were EVERYTHING! 🔥 I loved their enemies-to-lovers relationship and the banter between these two. They drove each other crazy, but the chemistry was there from the beginning, and I had so much fun watching them figure each other out.🤭
This had all the things I love in a Laura Pavlov book: humor, heart, spice, a little angst, and ALL the feels. I’m definitely looking forward to Phoenix’s story! 💕
Briar Sinclair is one of my favorite fmcs in a long time! Her method of meeting with Bass, HILARIOUS, and has me double checking the book tropes. Bass was not giving her an inch but Briar stick with it and got more than she ever expected. I loved the background with Briar’s family and how it weaved into her motives and actions within her relationship either Bass. I loved being in Blue Sky Bay! Thank you Laura Pavlov and VPR for this arc!
Bass and Briar had the worst start, but where they found themselves at the end was so damn beautiful. I loved the journey they went on - both as a couple and individually. It was so pure and sweet.
But the spice was anything but pure and sweet. It was blisteringly hot and filthy!
The Last Goodbye by Laura Pavlov is the second book in the new Blue Sky Bay Series. This is Briar and Bass' story. Briar is in town to help with a famil project. She meets Bass and little by little she chips his icyness away. A beautiful warmhearted small town romance that has everything I love in great story. 5 stars.
