It introduces a considerable amount of knowledge and gossip from the dog-owning community, and also familiarises the reader with various aspects of basic pet care, for example, why dogs should not casually be given shared snacks, and what constitutes animal hoarding disorder. The reasoning in relation to the murder case also involves a twist. Overall, however, the book is rather plain and unremarkable, offering no real surprises, and is ultimately optional reading rather than a must-read.
