held so much promise would have been 5 stars…
I was loooving this book! Made me laugh and giggle but then i had to skip 3 chapters of smut. Very disappointed as it wasn’t advertised and happened midway into the novel. The ending felt… hurried. Carol adopts many a magical creature and in the beginning i loved that! But after her 5th creature it just feels a bit too much.
Its a good story, i loved the romance (not the spice) and I loved how Carol really took control of her future by apologizing and changing the previous persons mistakes.
I almost DNFd this due to the spice but thankfully i was able to skip those scenes entirely.

Cozy
I don’t typically read this archetype but I have read (and reread) several by this author. The keyword in the title is cozy. When you are world weary and anxious pour yourself a warm drink, grab a blanket and a pet to cuddle (I prefer clingy cats and 60 lb lapdogs that double as space heaters, but you do you) and exhale when you open this book. Let it take you away to a place where your troubles seem trivial and survival requires frequent napping.

Such a disappointment
I was enjoying this story at first, but the plot deteriorated as the book progressed. After a certain point, there were no more challenges for the main character. We never even got a system update on the status of her death flags.
Characters did things that made no sense, just so the author could prove a point. I’ll give an example that’s not much of a spoiler. The Earl that “Caroline” was obsessed with approached her at a party. This man knows that Caroline was obsessed with him and tried to trap him into marriage, plus he is now engaged to another woman. But HE approaches HER and we have no explanation for WHY. All it accomplished was to highlight for the nobility that Caroline is “over” him.
I understand that the idea is to live a lazy life, but that doesn’t need to equate to “irresponsible”. She adopted a monster dog that will grow to the size of a horse and she was totally ok with NOT training him to have table manners. So what happens if she wants to take him into town (perhaps as her mount, which was an idea that was never suggested - missed opportunity)? Is he going to destroy the local food carts when he gets hungry? Oh don’t worry. The duke is rich, so Carol can just pay for the damages! *eye roll* I can’t respect a character that so wholly disregards her responsibilities. And Caspian KNOWS the pets need discipline, he’s a military officer who instills discipline in humans everyday, but he just smiles and lets Carol do whatever she wants. (I’m gonna get a headache from rolling my eyes so much.)
Speaking of Caspian being a duke…grrrr….the author seems wholly unfamiliar with nobility. If your father is a duke who is still alive, and you are set to inherit his dukedom, then you will NOT be a duke! Either Caspian should have been a marquess (basically an earl of a border territory), or there should have been some explanation for how he has his own dukedom while being set to inherit his father’s. What monarch in their right mind would allow the financial and political power of multiple duchies to be consolidated under a single man?! That would be a threat to the crown.
*sigh* The author started so strong. But she didn’t simply fail to “stick the landing”; she fell flat on her face. Such a disappointment.

They don’t pick apart situations. Those boys on TikTok dissecting text messages are doing a bit for attention; the other 90% of the male population doesn’t do that. Please hang out in a group of guys before writing male characters…. Please.

Oh wow, what a story!! It was everything, and I am obsessed/in love with Caroline, Caspian, and their terrifying adorable babies(pets). That ending was absolutely perfect, loved the time with their children, and the pets children bonding. Totally could have been a series, wish it was longer lol.

Repeat stuff repeat stuff
She is changed, she has changed, she was so bad, she is different is this the whole book? Can we not literally have every character say the same things every chapter? Is this ai? People all don't use the same phrases and language please... the dialog kills me.

This book could've been much better. The idea of the book was interesting but the way it was written wasnt great. Too many repetitive phrases such as "i choose you, i choose us" over and over. Or the "i decided to stop being miserable". I think there could've been more buildup in their relationship instead of him lowering his guard nearly immediately after she started being nice to him.

Amazing Isekai
First time reading this author and I finished this book in a day. I totally love this story and all the choices that were made. I love the pets. I also love Caspian. I highly recommend this book.

unexpectedly delightful
This is the 1st Isekai story that I’ve read. I enjoyed it immensely. It was a fun romp and I loved the choices that the FMC made. I would have made the same ones. If you are looking for a low angst and quirky read, then this is the book for you.

you know what i got kindle unlimited and i don't hate this it was surprisingly a quick and easy read and also the romance was sweet and simple in the best way

Simple, cozy isekai
This is a lovely fluffy novel to unwind with. Thrust into the role of an obsessive villainess marked for death, Carol faces obstacles the same way she had corporate life, but this time choosing naps and dessert over ambition.

This has set a new bar for cozy isekai. Absolutely love that Carol doesn't end up fighting really any battles, social or otherwise. She just gets to exist and be spoiled in the best way. And I'm so jealous of her murder-pet entourage lol.

Basically a fluff story. It's very sweet. A lot more could have been done with it to flesh it out but if you want a quick read that will make you laugh and has warm fuzzy moments, then it's a good read
