I never applied to the Academy for Magical Beings and Creatures. Which is why it was more than a little confusing when a letter arrived with my name already printed on a schedule, a dorm waiting, and classes picked out as if someone knew me better than I knew myself. Everyone knows the Academy, it’s where witches sharpen their spells, shifters master their forms, and every kind of magical creature learns to control their gifts.
Everyone except me.
I don’t even know what I am. No shifting, no magic tricks, nothing. Just a girl surrounded by people who can fly, conjure fire, or heal with a touch. So I sit through classes pretending I belong, and I listen hard for any clue that might tell me what’s hidden in my blood.
The only person more curious than me is Blake Nyvas, tall, golden-eyed, and very much a Dragon. People whisper that he’s dangerous, warn me to keep my distance. But Blake seems determined to solve the mystery of me, and somehow I trust him more than anyone else. Maybe it’s reckless. Maybe it’s dangerous. But when everyone else looks at me like I don’t belong, Blake looks at me like I’m a riddle worth solving.
Language note: This book uses British/Australian English spelling (e.g. colour, favour, pyjamas).

I am hoping to be able to start publishing on Amazon in the future. :)
Language note: My books use British/Australian English spelling, which differs slightly from American English. If you’re used to US spelling conventions, some words may look different. This is intentional rather than an error.
Currently reading. Lots of grammar errors, however really enjoying the details to characters and their behaviours/thought process in relation to their shift creature or heritage kind...
Absolutely loved the story! But, I wish there was more books or chapters about Lexi and Blake's story. I wish that we could have had a little more than just a small summary towards the end. But, overall very very good story! The Academy was very very cool!

Finished chapters 1-125, since the story is still ongoing. It’s an interesting story but with many repetitions and often going in circles or over-explaining (or even glossing over important events). Basically something that is expected when the author writes it chapter by chapter with no editing/editors/proof-readers Update, May 12th: finished the book, all 158 chapters. It was a cute ending
Instagram AI ad suckered me. It was completely misleading tho. Made it seem like it would be spicy when it's definitely young adult. Book is ongoing and you have to pay for chapters... but I read 1-120 so far and it was entertaining but lacking real depth. The FMC is a little annoying/immature for being 23, but I like her character and sustenance.
Don't think I'll finish this book because chapters are hella expensive and she only puts out one a day. Doesn't look like it will be completed any time soon. Also there's not really a plot... chapters 1-90ish were just her at the magic academy and her not knowing what kind of shifter she is. Then 80-120 were her being a magic unicorn who is incredibly rare and hunted for her magic. Her bond with MMC Dragon Blake happened in like 2nd chapter and didn't really have any shake or questioning until he tried to keep her safe by locking her with his hoard.

Read with the NovelFlow app. Currently at chapter 142 (still in progress). This app gives several free chapters a day and a lot of free chapters unlock after watching an add. This makes that it can read more fluently than many other reading apps.
I got roped into it through a very misleading Facebook add. Thinking it was a spicy enemy to lovers trope. In fact you don't have to expect any spice and more of a friends to lovers.
I particularly like the portrayal of dragon shifter and their 'relationship' with their hoard. I also like the description of the execution of magic.
SPOILER ALERT The only thing that keeps bothering me is if unicorn shifters are hunted, why would her bio parents ever enroll her into a magic school where she can be discovered so easily? It does not make sense to me.
Dialogues are mostly ok, but the characters don’t feel fleshed out. The book itself lacks substance. I assume it is because these types of books are written in a rush, a chapter every few days (and, of course, catering to the demand of a basic, easy-to-follow storyline with few characters and a lot of drama). More of the world (and the inner world) would need more work for it to feel significant. Barely touches a lot of themes (bullying, abuse of power, dependence etc.), then breezes by. Some characters vanish towards the end of the book, such as the annoying wolf girl. The ending felt abrupt and disorganised. Although I get a glimpse in the future, some of the things just don’t set right, because there was no previous suggestion anywhere in the book. Some knots are tied..just because. Overall quite messy.
Although I am sure that the format had a lot to do with it, this was one of the most frustrating pieces of work that my book club has opted to read in quite some time. There were inconsistencies and awkward phrasing throughout as well as details that were either SO drawn out in description or across chapters that I reread so may times I started writing details in my notebook just to avoid back tracking. I understand that some authors truly believe they are going to get a better buy in using those pay per chapter sites but all they have done is guarantee that I will never read any books they publish. Ever.
Anyone who encounters a Kit Bryan book is sure to be enthralled. This is one of Kit's best so far. Her intriguing plotlines and the depth of her characters create breathtaking stories that are difficult to put down. In '"How Not to Fall for a Dragon" a young woman encounters a surprise invitation to a magical academy. Here along with a crop of new students she begins a captivating (and sometimes frightening) journey to explore the mystery about her true identity. A spellbinding read from the first page....
Kit manages to bring so much life and dimension to their characters, even those that never speak.
Hee books are a safe oasis in the absolute mountain of filth and AI generated content of this age.
I feel like I want to read their books because the stories leave me with a feeling of missing home and friends, because the characters are so well fleshed out and feel like real people with real feelings and lives of their own.
Kit Bryan always exceeds expectations with how much I will love each book. Cannot wait to own each one. This book in particular was just amazing, loved every single character and made me feel every emotion as if they were my own. Truly magnificent. Keep writing Kit, will always have a reader in myself and many more.
This was so good! I’m not sure how to say it properly just how wonderful this story is!! I couldn’t stop reading it and waiting for the updates til it was finished like the rest of everyone nearly killed me. But it was absolutely wonderful!! You get adventure with sweet and romance without all the smut.
Perfect for some light, cheery reading with lovable characters, a touch of romance and drama, but not a boggy world that takes a book club to discuss and understand. It was sweet, fun, and enjoyable from start to finish!
I loved this book! It was the first I read of Kit Bryan and got me reading all of their books! The characters are beautifully described and it's so easy to relate to them. Loved it!
