Another fun little book about Clarence the beaver who get's lost and is taken in by a squirrel family. Their differences are not a barrier, just different. The story ends well. Then the author has some basic facts about beavers at the end. Kids love this book. Great for sitting-in-the-lap-and-reading-snuggling time before bed. I highly recommend it.
I e used this with foster children to explain that just because we aren’t each others first family, or last family, we are family & will always have memories & love. It’s a great book to use if fostering especially if your children are questioning things or noticing differences.
Clarence the beaver thinks that he is a squirrel. This cute book for kids takes a look at a beaver who gets separated from his family. He ends up with a family of red squirrels who "came to love Clarence as one of their own." But Clarence seems to have a need to busily prepare a nest unlike any that the squirrels have ever seen before. As he busily collects sticks and gnaws down trees to make his "nest," his squirrel siblings see something over by the river that helps Clarence to learn that he is a beaver. Two families eventually come together in celebration. This is a great book about celebrating differences and unconditional acceptance.
Beaver Gets Lost by Araine Chottin, adapted by Deborah Kovacs and illustrated by Marcelle Geneste is about a beaver named Clarence who finds himself a amongst a family of squirrels who take him in as a new brother. He starts building a "nest" like normal beavers and the other squirrels take notice. Until one day when Clarence finds his own family. The book is great for distinguishing squirrels and beavers. At the end of the book there are facts about beavers. It's a great read for elementary readers and it's pictures really add to the text.
A young beaver gets separated from his family and is taken in by a family of squirrels. The squirrels treat him as one of their own and think of him as another squirrel until it comes time for the parents to show the youngsters how to build a nest for the winter. Little Beaver listens carefully and starts making a huge, round "nest" out of sticks and trees. When one of the young squirrels spot some animals making similar "nests" in the pond nearby, they realize that beaver has found his family. But the beavers and squirrels stay friends and visit often. A sweet little story.
