Engaging storytelling. Not sure I understood everything any better than I understood The Third Policeman (O'Brien), but it definitely held my interest. I can appreciate the thought process and the style. It took some time to catch onto the dialect of the narrator, but it became easier (and more natural to the character) over time.
Looking forward to hearing Mr. Hecker and his compatriots discuss in the upcoming Literary Ramblings podcast. My thanks for an entertaining read!
Really fascinating and enjoyable read. Paul Joseph’s obsession with “the truth” sets an immediate tone in the novel. But the real pleasure of the story comes from its many echoes within classic lit, as well as its exploration of the complexity of identity. The dialect does take some getting used to, but it starts to make a certain kind of mad sense as the novel goes on.
