Have you read The Kite Runner?

This has many of the same plot elements. Surprise brothers, racial components, complete unfairness, the story told from the perspective of the supposedly luckier brother, the rivalry that the to-be-revealed brothers feel for each other, shame at being outdone, authorities disingenuously using rules to destroy people.

I wondered which parts of it were autobiographical.

Zajímavý a myslím, že ve své době i nový, náhled na novátorské metody v kardiochirurgii a střetávání rasově odlišných skupin v Jihoafrické republice. Jen v některých chvílích jsem si připadala trochu jako uchazeč o studium medicíny, těch detailních reflexí operací bylo někdy pro laika až příliš.

I love the story and the medical details, but I was hurt by author's views on women and sexual consent. He is so passionate about racial inequality, but totally blind for gender issues, and what he described as sex was rape.
