In the shifter town of Bear Canyon, the men outnumber the women three to one. Grizzly bear Travis Mallory is tired of desperate shifter females, and gold-digging, shifter obsessed humans. He wants to marry, and start a family, but most of all, he wants someone to love him for him, not for what he can do for them.
Curvy, Sabrina Parker is tired of dating. Now thirty years old, she wants to get married and start a family, but she knows it won’t happen unless she breaks out of her comfort zone. She wants to meet someone who can love her, and all of her curves, for the rest of her life.
Desperate to try something new, Travis places an ad for a Mail Order Bride. The conditions listed are simple, but absolute, and he only receives one response. Despite her friend’s objections, Sabrina feels compelled to answer Travis’ ad, and a short time later he invites her to Bear Canyon to see if they’re compatible. Can two strangers find love in a modern day shifter town?
A short mail-order bride story. A good start for this series but I wish there's an epilogue.
The story was about Travis (bear shifter), 33 and Sabrina (human), 30.
Travis and his two brothers, Trent and Tyler own a construction company. They live in a town, Bear Canyon where most of them are bear shifters.
He wanted to settle down. Get married, have babies and have someone who will really love him. He's tired of gold-diggers who only wanted him for his money. He placed an ad for mail-order bride and Sabrina saw it and decided to answer the ad.
She's a hair stylist and she wanted the same thing as Travis. He suggested she visit Bear Canyon to get to know each other then decide if they're compatible.
They spent time together and his brothers liked her too. It's a good story but I want to know more about their future.
Very sweet, short story. Typical mail order bride, but for a shifter book, it was pretty tame on the steam level. I will certainly read the next one though!
"Bear Seeking Bride: Travis" Bear Canyon Brides #1 by author Ruby Shae My Rating: 3.5 Stars...
This story features sexy bear shifter Travis Mallory and Sabrina Parker. Travis is wealthy and co-owns a successful construction business with his brothers, Trent and Tyler, who are also bear shifters. Travis is the middle brother. He is lonely and has been for a while. Of course he is rich and gorgeous and basically could have any woman in the shifter town Bear Canyon. Unfortunately there are 3 times as many males than females so the pickings are slim. And anyone he has tried to go out with is only interested in one thing. His money and his body. Also the only humans living in the shifter town are already mated to other Grizzlies.
So what can Travis do? Simple. He places an add in the classifieds seeking a curvy, human woman to be his bride.
Sabrina sees the add and decides to answer it. She, too, has been lonely. Since Sabrina has nothing to lose, this is an opportunity she will take a chance on. Sabrina is a curvy heroine, larger than the average sized woman. Perfect for Travis. What I loved about Sabrina's character was her confidence. She wasn't like many of the BBW heroines we read about who are insecure and self-depreciating. She was happy with her body. I hate heroines that put themselves down every other page. Sabrina was confident. kind, and not afraid to take chances.
There is no suspense but just a tiny bit of angst added to the story by Travis' brother Trent and an ex-girlfriend.
I loved Travis' brothers, Tyler and Trent. And yes, even though Trent was quite grumpy and rude to Sabrina, I still loved him. Trent obviously had good reasons for his bad attitude. Of course we will have to wait for his book for that reveal. Tyler is sweet and sexy and I can't wait to read his story. Sabrina's best friends, Dawn and Caroline were likable secondary characters and it will be fun to watch them find their HEA. As a matter of fact, Tyler and Dawn's book is next!
First this book is told in 3rd person which is not my preferred. Anyway the Author basically just tell a story and nothing really happens. Very faced paced but not to the point.
Perfect length for a sexy romance. I enjoyed it very much. Confident hero and heroine looking for the love of their lives. I got a good sense of who they were, and even the description of the town. Despite the warm weather, I could live in that little town. Great read.
It was mildly entertaining. My issues with this book were that there wasn't all that much going on and the relationship between Travis and Sabrina was a little too perfect. There was hardly any conflict, it was mostly just about how amazing Travis and Sabrina's unrealistic fairy tale romance was. If the characters had a little more of a struggle getting to know one another, it would have been a bit more realistic. Well, as realistic as a were-bear romance can get anyway. The one and only time there was any conflict (warning: spoilers) was when a woman whom use to date Travis gets jealous that he's moved on and decides to go throw herself at him while he's at work. Now realistically, a woman who would have the audacity to do something like that would most likely be a pretty selfish person, whom does this sort of thing with very little remorse. Why would someone as selfish and haughty as that suddenly turn around and apologize just because they were given a "well, that's not very nice" ??? They wouldn't. If someone were self absorbed enough to think they could sweet talk a man into dumping his current girlfriend for them, they wouldn't really give a single f*** about said girlfriend's feelings. The whole scene came off a bit forced, like the author realized she should put at least some kind of conflict in this book instead of nothing but the two main characters copulating and making goo-goo eyes at one another, but then decided she didn't really want to go there. I personally need a bit more than that.
Too much of the same old/same old! There were opportunities to do so much yet none were taken. There had to have been a strict limit on number of words allowed because this is pretty much an outline, with the guts removed due to limitations.
This a short novella length shifter romance. I enjoyed it but the heroine got a little annoying, even with how short the book is. She is a tall curvy woman who in one breath talks about how she accepts her body but always assumes the worst about what the hero says. Most of the conflict is created because she assumes stuff and doesn’t seek clarification. The drama with her stalker seemed a little OTT. Overall it was a cute read with instant love, some sexy scenes, and a HEA
Would you please an ad for a mail order bride? Would you answer one? What if Shifters were real and they placed an ad for a bride? Personally I'd be a little scared to answer one of those ads. Well in this story, we've got a sitter who places an ad for a mail order bride. Plus a human who answers. It's a fast burn romance that's short and sweet.
Sabrina answered Travis post seeking a wife. His brothersvwere against it as were her friends but Sabrina realised that she wanted everything Travis was seeking in a wife. It was a OK read. Not something I woukd want to read again a bit forgettable really.

The story of Sabrina and Travis is sugary sweet with minimal angst (it almost feels like that one moment was put into the story just because it needed something). It’s not fated mates per se, but runs very close to it. Nice, fast-paced instalove story.
Such a cute story and I love how it’s the male putting an add looking for a partner to start a family with, I feel like it’s often the female looking for that kind of commitment
3 brothers and 1 attempts A mail order bride even though it's modern times. Good concept Well written. The story of 1st grab me then it got a little bit complacent But finished well.
2.5 Stars. Nothing new or exciting in this book. It was pretty instant although no "destined mate" in this book. I just never really felt like we got much depth with either character.
Okay, so I was browsing curvy-girl books, and saw this... which was subtitled "A shape-shifter mail-order BBW novelette". Say what?! And if that isn't the weirdest thing I've ever heard of in my entire life, I don't know what is.
Long Ago in a galaxy that looks like ours but obviously isn't, there are 'shifters' that live among humans. They have their own towns, like Indians have reservations. But the males outnumber women 3 to 1, and some human women don't like the idea of being married to a guy who can change into a critter, so finding a mate apparently isn't all that easy.
Three brothers: Travis, Trent, and Tyler. Each single, each looking for a mate. Travis decides the dating scene sucks, so he puts out an ad for a bride, asking for exactly what he wants. Sabrina (one of three BBW/curvy girls) answers his ad, and it's total lust at first sight.
There's no plot. There's just instant attraction and an introduction to what shifters are, pretty much. It was short, it was sweet, it... had a lot of sex. For something that short, there was a LOT of sex. It was pretty much "Hi, wOw... let's have sex. And marry. And have sex. Okay? The end."
It wasn't bad. Just short and plot-less with less-than-descriptive writing (except about sex, naturally). But then, that's all that you get with 99¢ books, nowadays, mostly. So I can't complain too loudly.
Except did I mention it was *short*???
uPDaTe: I also bought/read the other two in the trilogy, but because all three should be ONE 99¢ book, I'm not listing them as separate reads. Kinda peeved with the author for charging separate for what amounts to ONE book.
In this story shapeshifters are an accepted member of mainstream America living out in the open. The thing is shapeshifters are sought after by women but not for the right reasons. Tyler, eldest of the Mallory brothers wants a wife who will love him and be the future mother of his cubs but to date has been unable to find such a woman. So he advertises for a mail order bride.
BBW Sabrina Parker answers the advertisement. They agree on two weeks to get to know each other before making a final decision to proceed with the wedding or part ways.

A short sweet romantic story featuring one of three bear shapeshifting brothers. It's cute, romantic and tugs at the heartstrings. Though a complete story, it's short length (60 pages, can't find word count) prevents any real depth layering. That includes adult content scenes between the main characters.
Book for those looking for a quickie feel good story.
I try and avoid "short" story serials because they don't allow enough of the characters and plot to develop....however, the blurb was interesting, I love "mail-order brides" story lines with the added "shifter" element, I thought this could be entertaining and there were several stories to follow......
My problem was there didn't seem to be too much going on in the plot. I struggled to connect with the characters, it was insta-love and the only blip that may have caused some tension was over in two sentences and looked like it had been inserted as an afterthought! There was some setting up for Travis's brothers and future stories, but this really didn't float my boat enough to venture onto them.
Travis is a wealthy bear shifter who is tired of gold-diggers and shifter fans. So, in an attempt to find a decent wife, he puts out an ad for a mail-order bride and Sabrina responds. She's curvy and confident and his perfect mate.
And that's basically the book. Don't get me wrong, the book was very well written, the characters were excellent (and finally a BBW who has some confidence and is not crippled by her insecurities!) and the shifter world was excellently put together. But this story seemed to lack a conflict. Aside from a small misunderstanding that took all of 5 minutes, the two basically meet, fall in love, have sex and agree to mate. Maybe there could have been a larger misunderstanding or competition or a more believable OW or something.

A great coffee time quick enjoyable read. You won’t be sorry. Sometimes you just need a book that is sweet, uncomplicated and fun to read. This book was it, just a little too much insta love but the time frame forces this to happen. A great group of people is introduced and you just know they are going to have their own stories. Against his two brothers concerns Travis advertises for a mail order bride as he wants to settle down with and have cubs. Luckily for him his mate replies to the advert. Sabrina has been badly hurt by men but wants a HEA. Sabrina was drawn to Travis’s advert and against the advice of her two best friends agrees to meet Travis. I liked Sabrina and Travis, they were a great couple. I can see a good series will follow so everyone else can have their HEA’s.
Bear Seeking Bride: Travis:(BBW Mail Order Bride Paranormal SHAPESHIFTER ROMANCE) by RUBY SHAE
Quick,Heartwarming story with characters that want more than just a romp in bed. I'm looking forward to both of his brothers stories in this series. Loved for a change there's no villains lurking around just a sweet love story between two lonely characters that have differences that they dealing with upfront and get to be who they are. It's the first in this series and I know I recommend that you don't miss out.
Travis is a bear shifter and he is ready to settle down. Now all he needs is a woman who will accept the bear and man. Too many gold diggers and females wanting to have sex with a shifter has left a bad taste in his mouth. So he advertises for a mail order bride. Sabrina is tired of jerks who have passed thru her life. She maybe a well endowed with more curves than not but she deserves love too. The two get together for two weeks to see if the sparks fly. Ruby Shaw wrote a fast, but sweet read. WILL be reading more.
