Every Mission Has Led to This. Every Enemy Has Been a Shadow of the Real Threat. This is the Endgame.

Adam Knight was supposed to recover. After years of dismantling global conspiracies, Penumbra Division ordered him to stand down. But Knight never stopped hunting.

While officially sidelined, he’s been tracking Rubicon—the shadow organization behind every crisis he’s helped avert. Just as he’s summoned home to determine if he’s still fit for duty, a tip from an old friend changes a deadly enemy Knight once defeated has resurfaced after being on the run since their last encounter.

Operating outside Penumbra Division for the first time, Knight forms an uneasy alliance with the war criminal. The deal is simple—work together to infiltrate Rubicon or watch the world burn.

But Knight isn’t the only one hunting. Penumbra Division is closing in on Rubicon too. Former colleague Jessica Feeney follows her own lead, uncovering an IT company that may be the key to the shadow organization’s infrastructure and the power behind it.

A race around the globe is on to uncover Rubicon's endgame. What they discover is chilling. A new weapon. One so unimaginable it can destroy the world order with the press of a button. Every conspiracy Knight has dismantled leads here. And he’s ready to pay any price to stop Rubicon. But will his sacrifice be enough?

If the high-octane narratives of Tom Clancy, Lee Child, Robert Ludlum, Vince Flynn, and Ian Fleming keep you turning pages late into the night, then prepare to be engrossed by the world of Adam Knight.

With this book I was literally on the edge of my seat! Adam Knight is a secret agent from an American security agency called Penumbra. He is our main character and also the red thread in this series.

I haven’t read the previous books in this series and it worked well as a standalone.

He’s after an organisation, Rubicon, who are working on a deadly weapon that cause a massive destruction.

New and unexpected alliances will be forged in the mission of bringing Rubicon doen.

A must read for people who like thrillers by Tom Clancy or Lee Child, ….
Sam Cogley delivers a page turning thriller with “ Bond” allures that will shiver a long time after you’ve finished the book!.

Rubicon
by Sam Cogley

Rubicon, the sixth entry in Sam Cogley’s gripping thriller series, is a masterful escalation that thrusts readers from the smouldering aftermath of past events straight into all out chaos, acting as a crucial bridge from Code of Treason toward Rubicon.

Rubicon skillfully revisits Nathan Perry’s transformation, new identity, new purpose, and a world where the rules have all but disappeared.

Cogley excels at exploring the psychological cost of power and consequence. What begins as a thriving, world serving enterprise collapses into devastation, leaving antagonists haunted by guilt, responsibility, and the inescapable weight of their choices. The tension is constant, both internal and external, keeping the reader firmly on edge.

The story unfolds across parallel narratives: agents operating in vastly different environments from a fictional utopia to the economic heart of the city once known as Saigon yet united by a singular goal, to expose and dismantle a deeply rooted evil.

The action is unrelenting and crafty, Cogley expertly transcends the skills of ‘Bond’ and ‘Nomi’ to Knight and Feeney. Along the way, friendships are rekindled, uneasy alliances form, and past characters reemerge seamlessly, enriching the continuity of the series.

Cogley contrasts luxury and hardship with precision, Texas Hold’em in an elite casino on one front, a breathtaking mountainside engineering marvel on the other. Both settings become arenas for intellectual warfare where danger and opportunity collide, and success depends on approaching problems “…from a different angle”.

At its core, Rubicon is a meditation on wealth, power, and morality. The antagonists’ logic is disturbingly sound, forcing readers to question who truly has the right to decide humanity’s future. As greed edges into madness and power seeks only more power, one truth remains unavoidable…no one outruns mortality.

With relentless pacing, sharp intelligence, and an explosive conclusion Rubicon delivers action, suspense, and thought provoking depth in equal measure.

Sam Cogley proves once again why his thrillers resonate long after the final page. Highly recommended for fans of intelligent, high-stakes espionage fiction.

Adam Knight confronts a terrorist organization trying to erase civilization - 4.5 stars

Rubicon is the name of a group of people claiming to have descended from Julius Caesar from about the year 50 BC. They have financial and technical resources in the 21st century to develop technologies for creating earthquakes and seeding new human populations with a goal of transforming Earth's civilization after destroying virtually all human and animal populations.

The Rubicon group has been successful in keeping a low profile while they built communities in remote locations on six continents and a powerful weapon based on advanced computer chips that can cause the earth's crust to disintegrate. Their scientists have also developed a semiconductor-based technology that can cloak objects, making them invisible.

Adam Knight has changed his name and his appearance to intercept terrorists and has been working for over five years in a small kernel of people working for the Penumbra Division - a secret part of the United States security - dedicated to stopping/preventing destruction around the world. So far, Adam has been successful; he is still alive. Now, the Rubicom group seems to be getting an upper hand due to its' stealth purchases of top-of-the-line computer chips for its research and development projects.

The Penumbra Division has been quite successful in keeping its leadership and virtually all of its membership a secret. Penumbra agents have been focusing on finding out more about Rubicom's leadership. So far, all attempts to infiltrate Rubicom have been unsuccessful; some Penumbra agents have died. Just as Penumbra agents get close to capturing and interrogating people who have made deals representing Rubicom, it seems that Adam has, on his own, captured one affiliated worker and is capturing a second agent with the intent to identify Rubicom's leaders. In South America and India, two separate Penumbra operations seem to be close to learning the organizational structure of Rubicom.

I received an ARC through "Booksprout" and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

The story begins with Rubicon unleashing an artificial earthquake that winds up destroying an entire locality. Knight is in Trinidad when he is told to return back to Langley by Naidu. Knight discovers something and rather than going back, he heads to Numbani. Naidu meanwhile has called a group of Penumbra agents for a briefing where she tasks each of the ten individuals to try and find a way to infiltrate Rubicon. Knight meanwhile arrives and learns that a North Korean General, Deok Yun, has been captured. A meeting was set up at the prison and as a result Knight took the General and wound up going to Chili.

Feeney, one of the 10 Naidu tasked, winds up going to India to locate a path forward to locate a person associated with Rubico. She is successful and learns of a company that is providing electronics to a mystery company. She and another associate follow the shipment to an island in hopes of discovering a connection. Their efforts wind up with the discovery of a ship that is responsible for the artificial earthquakes. Knight meanwhile figures out that the only way to infiltrate Rubicon is to turn himself over to Rubicon.

Read along and follow both Knight and Feeney as they pursue their mission. Discover what Feeney did in order to lull a potential connection to Rubicon. Learn what Knight learned once he turned himself in and what he had planned which was eventually useless. Discover finally what role Gen. Deok Yun plays in the end.

The action in the story is immense and the ending is well done. This is definitely a book worth reading, don't miss out!

They say once you cross the Rubicon, you can never return. That is the dilemma that Adam Knight is facing with the shadow clandestine organization called Rubicon that is out to eliminate him. Adam is one of the top agents of the Penumbra Division that has stymied the Rubicon‘s attempt to seed world chaos through destruction. He’s on a “get your act together “leave of absence, but he is relentless in his pursuit of stopping Rubicon. Working with a group of mercenaries and of all people, a disgrace general from North Korea Adam defies death at every turn in order to stop this nefarious organization. Adam is willing to sacrifice his own life in order to save others. This is a very ingeniously written novel with a compelling storyline and exceptional characters. The author blends the characters’ past into the present in a seamless way to give the reader a full understanding of the role each character plays. This novel clearly can stand on its own merits, even if you haven’t read the series. New characters are constantly being introduced, and they could easily become a spinoff success.

I have had the privilege of reading each of the books in the Adam Knight series, and I am happy to say that this latest volume is my favorite yet. With Knight on leave from Penumbra, he's still determined to dismantle Rubicon, the nefarious organization that wants to reshape society in their own mold - billions of lives be damned. The plot provided fast and furious action that tested his skillset to its very limits. It is the kind of story that is truly hard to put down, and I was enthralled until the very end.

While the preceding volumes are excellent, I believe this book works wonderfully as a standalone thriller that will surely intrigue new readers to explore Knight's earlier adventures.

Given how the story concluded, I am eager to know what is next for Adam Knight. I am very much looking forward to seeing where Cogley takes Penumbra's ultimate agent next.

Mass destruction from the very first page and it just gets better from there. I was reading along enjoying the story and before I knew it, I was at the end, never wanting it to finish. This is a fast-paced read and has a couple of interesting plot twists. Ties a few things together from the preceding books, even though this can be read as a standalone. Adam starts out on his own in this one working from one angle while a character from another book works at it from another. Goes scorched earth. If you are reading the series than this is definitely a must read. Great action, drama and suspense. I cannot imagine what the future holds for Adam Knight after this, but I will be first in line for the next book to find out. Author Cogley never disappoints.

Adam Knight is on the trail of Rubicon again and he decided to do it on his own. Meanwhile Penumbra Division is on it's trail from another direction (which turns out to be a very good thing). Adam pairs up with a crook to track this elusive group while others are looking elsewhere.
Feeney is working for Naidu (prime handler for Penumbra) and she finds some key information. Add in a few sharp techy types working with both (Adam & the division) and they are able to accomplish a lot - until they push too hard.
Can they stop them? Who is really behind this group and what is the true purpose? How far is Rubicon prepared to go?
Be prepared for some big surprises as the tale proceeds.

As usual with Sam’s books, the action starts from page 1 and just keeps getting better as you head towards the climatic end. Rubicon is just like that - 2 operators working separately for the good of the world coming at the evil entity that has been plaguing Penumbra for years. Wasn’t expecting the twist regarding this shadowy organisation origins and felt sad initially towards the end when it seemed like Rubicon was finished. Enter another twist and my fears were allayed. I hope Sam fires out another Adam Knight book soon - can’t wait 😁

Following Sam Cogley’s characters always leaves me thinking, “Where does he come up with these crazy twists and turns?”

RUBICON was an e-ticket ride from the start, but I could never have imagined where the story was heading. Our Hero, Adam Knight, always manages to find himself at the brink of doom. In this book, you’re not going to believe what happens, or where the story takes you.

This book was a fun read. I can’t wait for the next installment from you, Sam.

Another hit. Hard to put down. Rubicon jumps straight into the action and keeps the hits going the whole way. Definitely a solid read for any fan of action based books. Sam Cogley is really a beast with his books. I always say this, but reading his books is like reading an action movie. Good storyline, great characters. Can’t wait for the next one.

Adam Knight not working for Penumbra? Maybe, maybe not.... He's still on a mission to bring down Rubicon, whatever it takes. Characters from the past show up to add a little spice, and help, when needed.

I like this character and his adventures keep me turning the page! I've read the entire series to date and wait for more. Thanks to Sam Cogley for keeping me entertained.

A well written perfectly paced story pulling you in from the start. Adam Knight is on another mission but Penumbra Division isn't helping him with the mission. He has contacts out in the world who help him and he finds out more info in taking down Rubicon. Plenty of action to keep you turning the pages.

Hold on Tight!!
Seriously, this is so intense! When I thought I had it figured out, things changed. Then they changed again…And again. I did not see that ending coming, but once it revealed itself, it made sense. Okay, now I’m going to try to go relax; but you won’t!
