The Night We Met

Rate this book
Sylvie Hart never expected her life to change the night she met Wyatt Rowe.

She’s grounded, private, and quietly carrying more than anyone realizes. Love has always felt complicated, something meant for other people, not for a woman who’s learned to survive by being steady and self-contained.

Wyatt Rowe is a world-famous actor with a carefully guarded life and a past marked by devastating loss. To the public, he’s untouchable, confident, and desired. But beneath the image is a man who loves deeply, protects fiercely, and isn’t interested in anything that doesn’t matter.

When their worlds collide, the connection is immediate and consuming. What begins as an unexpected spark quickly becomes something neither of them can ignore. Wyatt doesn’t want a distraction. Sylvie doesn’t want something temporary. And neither of them is willing to pretend this is anything less than real.

Loving each other means navigating distance, fame, and the pressure of families who aren’t ready to let go. It means choosing devotion over caution and building a future that looks nothing like the lives they planned. For Sylvie, it means stepping into a world that watches her closely. For Wyatt, it means finally letting someone see the man behind the name.

The Night We Met is a contemporary romance about instant connection and the kind of love that feels like home even when it arrives unexpectedly. It’s the story of a man who knows what he wants and a woman who learns she deserves to be chosen without hesitation.

I write emotionally driven romances about resilient women and the men who love them without trying to change them. Expect witty banter, swoon worthy dialogue, and found family.

I finished this book the night before last… at three in the morning, because once I started reading, I simply couldn’t stop. One chapter turned into another, and suddenly it was the middle of the night and I was still turning pages.

I first discovered this author when I had the chance to read one of her books as an ARC reader last year. I loved that experience so much that I knew I wanted to read this one too, even though romance isn’t usually my go-to genre.

And I’m really glad I did.

This story completely pulled me in. I devoured the pages without even realizing it. It’s not just a romance, it’s also a story about healing, resilience, and learning to move forward while carrying the weight of past wounds.

The characters feel incredibly real. They have their scars, their struggles, but also their warmth, their teasing, and the deep connection they share. That emotional journey is what made the story so powerful to me.

Some readers might feel like things move quickly between Wyatt and Sylvie, but honestly it felt very natural to me. Their personalities, their intensity, and everything they’ve been through make that pace make sense. It fits who they are, and because of that it never felt rushed or forced.

This book made me feel a lot of emotions, and those are always the stories that stay with me the longest.

I’m also genuinely so happy I discovered this author on social media a little by chance. I definitely don’t regret signing up as an ARC reader last year, and I truly hope I’ll get the chance to be part of that ARC team for a very long time.

I already can’t wait to read more from her. 💜

I was hooked from the moment I started reading this book, and when Wyatt and Sylvie met, I was immediately invested in their story.

The sarcastic banter and how Sarah built up the chemistry between the two is immaculate. I laughed, I swooned, I kicked my feet. The tension and yearning is top tier. While the two quickly find their places with one another, you still get the thrill of a slow burn romance.

I loved the chronic disease representation as well. I feel it really made the character more dimensional and relatable. I feel like so many people will be able to connect with this character on a more personal level.

Wyatt is protective, but not controlling or giving red flag vibes. If you love a “he falls first” vibe, you got it! His backstory also left me sobbing. So make sure you have tissues toward the end of the book.

Sylvie has an amazing family dynamic as well. Best friends who love her, and a large family with protective, possibly overbearing, brothers and parents who’ve loved her so well her entire life. I found myself wanting to be a part of her family! Her backstory will also make you sob. Just go ahead and buy the tissues now.

This was my first read for 2026, and it did not disappoint. I can’t wait to read more of Wyatt and Sylvie’s story.

I quite enjoyed this book. This book is an age gap romance - and mostly was a long distance relationship. Both Sylvie and Wyatt have had struggles they often don’t let the outside world know about .. on the outside they may seem very different- he a Hollywood actor and she a writer/ editor, and they’re 10 years apart in age … Also many people who see them together comment to Wyatt- she’s not your usual type - why her? But it doesn’t matter to either one of them. They make each other happy and that is what matters … at the end of the book there was a sneak peek to the next book in their story- so I know we’re going to get to know more of their life together and I’m excited for that also. I would totally recommend this book.
This book deals with some things that many authors/ books don’t touch on- but in a sensitive way- making it seem more real and relatable to many people out there … (fibromyalgia (chronic illness) miscarriages, trauma, and ptsd and grief) just to keep that in mind in case anyone may have trouble reading about those topics

Sarah Neese’s debut contemporary romance, "The Night We Met," is a heartwarming and deeply emotional story that masterfully captures the electricity of an instant connection.

The story follows Sylvie, a woman learning she deserves to be chosen without hesitation, and Wyatt Rowe, a world-famous actor hiding a past of devastating loss.

Neese expertly balances the "whirlwind romance" with grounded themes of grief, healing, and the pressures of fame.

The "instant spark" between the characters feels earned and real, making it a perfect read for fans of slow-burn emotions paired with immediate chemistry.

I could not put this book down! The banter was angst was top notch! My only disappointment is that I have to wait for the next book!

I got the amazing opportunity to read an ARC of The Night We Met. This book has everything a good contemporary romance needs. Celebrity meets Normal everyday writer. He falls first. Slow burn. Found Family. Witty sarcastic banter. Dual POVs. loved every second of this. BUT what I loved the absolute most is that the FMC has Fibromyalgia. I don't know if I have ever read a book where I could relate to the FMC in that way. Some authors make their characters almost perfect to where their flaws and issues seem almost impossible and comical. Sarah writes real characters. Ones you relate to down to the hardest most vulnerable parts. This truly was an amazing read and I cannot wait to read part 2!

I finished this book in two sittings. I couldn’t put it down! While the celebrity relationship is totally out of my realm of thinking, I feel that this is as real as it gets. Everything was believable, flowed well, made sense, and kept me HOOKED. I genuinely wanted Sylvie and Wyatt to be happy. This also was a reminder that you don’t always know people, or what they’ve been through. But people can be worth the effort, you are worth it, I am worth it. We are worthy of love, respect, and support. ❤️😭

I can’t wait to see what else this author puts out!

Absolutely love! Definitely a must read! While their relationship is quick to form, it is a beautifully written story that I cannot wait to read more of! I love that the characters are not perfect. I love how protective Wyatt is of Sylvie, it reminds me of my own husband so I felt more connected to the story. He will do anything for her. If that’s up your wheelhouse (even if it’s not) then this book is definitely for you! Quick to suck into the story, great writing, easy to follow! A great read! Can’t wait for more!

I finished this book in about 3 days!!! I couldn’t put it down. The chemistry between Sylvie and Wyatt is unspeakable!!! I was rooting for them the entire time. It is a sweet romance about overcoming past obstacles and long distances. It is an age gap romance as well. Mental health plays a huge role in this storyline, which I loved! But if you have triggers, def check the trigger warnings.

This is the first book from this author I have read. I came across her from social media as she was looking for ARC Readers. I am so glad I came across her and will def be looking into her other books.

From the first chapter to the very end of the book, the author paints such a descriptive picture that I felt like I was sitting in the room with the characters. I was drawn in from the start.
Wyatt Rowe is chivalrous, charming, caring, and REAL. It was refreshing to consider that even famous people can be that way, just like you and me! The way he treats the adorable, genuine, and down to earth Sylvie Hart makes this story intriguing. I was completely immersed and couldn’t flip the pages fast enough to see how it all ended.

Oh! My! God! I couldn’t put this book down. It had me captivated from the first chapter. I love that the chapters bounce back and forth from the characters perspectives. I love the storyline, there were plenty of parts that I was just grinning at the couple. The banter between Sylvie and Wyatt is hilarious and makes them feel sooo relatable. I’m literally obsessed with a fictional couple. I absolutely loved this book and can’t wait to read book 2 for more Sylvie and Wyatt!

So this book is ***deep breath*** BEAUTIFUL! The way that vulnerability and trust is portrayed in this relationship is so remarkably touching. I loved the relationship between Wyatt and Sylvie. The way that the author portrayed chronic illness spoke to me in particular as I suffer from endometriosis..which is also not spoken about much in literature. This portrayed a strong, kind, and beautiful relationship that I loved to read. Thank you Sarah Neese, for letting me read your book!!
