Rate this book
Seeing the future should make Jay unstoppable. Instead, it makes him a target

In a neon-drenched city ruled by screens, surveillance, and corporate control, Jay’s glimpses of what might happen next are impossible to ignore and even harder to survive.

GEAR, the most powerful tech corporation in the world, claims to be humanity’s greatest protector. They deliver global education, advanced technology, and a safer society. To the public, they are heroes. To Jay and his friends, they are something far more dangerous.

When Jay teams up with Trevor, a brilliant hacker, and Neveah, a fiercely loyal survivor with deep roots in the city’s underbelly, they uncover a conspiracy that puts them directly in GEAR’s sights.

Seeing the future should be an advantage. For Jay, it makes him impossible to ignore… or protect.

Freak Forward is a fast-paced Young Adult cyberpunk thriller about found family, resistance, and the cost of knowing too much, perfect for fans of YA dystopian science fiction, near-future dystopia, and high-tech cyberpunk novels.

While Jay, Trevor and Neveah are teenagers I am unsure why it is in just the young adult section as it is appropriate for all readers. Especially in today’s world.
The characters are well done and brought to life immediately. AI can be a useful TOOL depending the morals and honesty of those controlling it. Sadly, especially now, with complete breakdowns in ethical governments it becomes a nightmare.
Kudos to CG Harris for an excellent well thought out book. Looking forward to to Book 2

I enjoyed the story. It was easy to read with an entertaining and lighthearted approach, even in dangerous situations. A good steady pace with a build up to an ending with a twist, preparing you for the next instalment. Recommended. I received an ARC and my review is honest and voluntary.
