Mist of Fallen

A YA supernatural dystopian debut by Amanda G. Kaite

Seventeen-year-old Megana’s world ends in a single night—when fire falls from the sky, her hometown burns, and her family disappears into smoke and shadows. Monsters rise from the wreckage. And angels walk among them.

Forced to flee with her younger brother and estranged sibling, Megana must navigate a crumbling world where myth becomes reality and survival means facing things that were never supposed to exist.

But amid the chaos, one angel breaks Heaven’s law to save her.

Gabriel was never meant to feel. Never meant to fall. But he did—deeply and irrevocably. Now, his forbidden love for Megana threatens not only his place in Heaven, but the balance between light and darkness.

As ancient forces awaken and the war between good and evil spills into the human world, Megana is thrust into a destiny she never asked for. One that could save the world… or destroy it.

Perfect for fans of Angelfall, The Mortal Instruments, and Daughter of Smoke and Bone.

Amanda G. Kaite is an author of YA fantasy and supernatural fiction with a love for forbidden love stories, morally complex angels, and worlds on the brink of ruin. Her debut novel, Mist of Fallen, was born out of late-night writing sprints, an obsession with emotionally messy characters, and the belief that love can be both the beginning and the end of everything.
Amanda has been writing stories for as long as she can remember—on the backs of school notebooks, in the margins of textbooks, and now, finally, on pages that others can hold. Her writing blends intense emotional stakes with action-packed, character-driven plots that explore loyalty, sacrifice, and what it means to fight for the people you love.
When she’s not writing, Amanda works full-time in the beauty industry, drinks too much coffee, and daydreams about the next twist in her story. She’s a lover of thunderstorms, dramatic plot twists, and dark-winged book boyfriends.
Mist of Fallen is her first novel—and the beginning of something much bigger.

A Gripping, Emotional Romantasy Debut That Leaves You Begging For More

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4.5 / 5 stars)

Mist of the Fallen by Amanda G. Kaite is a phenomenal debut that hooks you from the very chapter . If you are a fan of dark, high-stakes romantic fantasy, forbidden angel lore, and rich world-building, this book belongs at the top of your TBR list.

The story drops you into a beautifully atmospheric, bleak dystopian world where humanity is struggling to survive, and she does an incredible job of weaving a deep sense of grief, survival, and tension throughout the narrative.

The pacing is balanced. Balancing intense action with quiet, deeply emotional character beats. for me the standout element of this book is undoubtedly the character dynamics. The central romance is a slow-burn, forbidden connection that is absolutely electric. The chemistry drips with angst, and the emotional stakes feel incredibly real.
Our protagonist is resilient, flawed, and deeply relatable, making it easy to root for her as she navigates impossible choices.

The only reason this isn’t a flawless 5-star read is that a few minor subplots near the middle slowed down slightly, and a couple of secondary characters could have used a bit more development. That being said tho.

The explosive, jaw droppin ending completely makes up for it. The cliffhanger left me reeling and awaiting book 2.

Amanda G. Kaite is definitely an author to watch.

If youre a fan of The Mortal Instruments and Angelfall then this is a read for you

Mist of Fallen has a strong emotional pull and a premise that immediately grabbed my attention—angels, forbidden love, and a world literally falling apart. The opening chapters were intense and beautifully written, especially the scene with the accident. It had me hooked early on.

Megana is a relatable and strong lead, and I really enjoyed the sibling dynamics, especially how fiercely she protects her little brother. There’s also a unique vibe with the angel characters, particularly Gabriel and Jeremiah, that added a mysterious, almost spiritual layer to the chaos around them.

That said, the pacing felt uneven at times. Some scenes were really gripping, while others dragged a bit or felt like they needed a bit more editing to stay sharp. I also wanted more clarity around the supernatural side of the story—there’s a lot hinted at, but not everything is explained clearly, which made it a little confusing in parts.

Still, there’s something really promising here. The emotional core is strong, and the world feels like it’s only just beginning to open up. I’d definitely check out the sequel to see how everything unfolds.

This book throws you right into a high-stakes, world-ending scenario that kept me hooked from the start. The dynamic between Megana, Gabriel, and Jeremiah is definitely a highlight—there’s a great balance of tension, trust, and mystery between them. Megana herself is a standout character; I love how fiercely she stands up for others, no matter how little time she’s known them.

The world-building is intriguing: The premise of angels from the beginning, the little bits of details we get from either characters. If Megana discovered the truth about who they are sooner, she might have had more time to learn about their world, making for an even better reading experience. That said, I get the sense that this is something being saved for the second part, given the "to be continued" ending.

The otherworldly descriptions of the angels and cherubim were incredibly vivid, but what really stood out to me was the contrast between Ezal and Arzon. Their contradicting vibes made them even more intriguing, adding a fascinating layer to the story’s world. Ezal especially is described in a celestial way, but then turns out to have no wings – it all left me eager to learn more about the angels and their world.

Overall, this was an exciting read with strong character dynamics and an engaging premise. I’m definitely looking forward to the next part!

Mist of Fallen had me intrigued from the very first page. Amanda G. Kaite has created a captivating world filled with angels, demons, danger, and mystery, all wrapped up in an emotional story that kept me turning the pages late into the night.

Megana was a fantastic protagonist—strong, relatable, and easy to root for as she navigated a world that has been turned upside down. The character development throughout the book was one of my favourite aspects, especially the relationships she builds along the way. Gabriel was everything I love in a fantasy love interest: protective, complex, and carrying secrets that added so much depth to the story.

The world-building was immersive without feeling overwhelming, and I loved discovering more about the celestial mythology as the plot unfolded. The pacing kept me hooked, balancing action, emotion, and intrigue perfectly. Every revelation raised the stakes and left me desperate to know what would happen next.

The ending was both emotional and satisfying while still leaving me eager for more. I was completely invested in these characters by the final chapter and cannot wait to see where their journey leads next.

If you enjoy fantasy with angels, high stakes, found family, slow-burn romance, and plenty of twists, I highly recommend Mist of Fallen.

I really liked this book!! Amanda had made such a vivid world for us to dive into with characters i love and a story that is not just a copy &paste of the last 10 books I have read.

I enjoyed the pace of the book, although not large it never felt rushed but also never suffered from making you feel like a scene will never end.

I loved watching the relationships with Megana, Gabriel and Jeremiah develop, i didn't always like decisions made but I think that helped make it feel more real and Megana especially more human.

Overall I just had a fun time and devoured it in one sitting. I am very impatiently waiting for the next book I need to know more (especially about Jeremiah)

I really enjoyed this book, hes and angel but not just any Angel he’s and ARCH Angel! Shes human. One event causes the basically an apocalypse on Earth!

Angels are fallen, the big guy upstairs aint happy, its a whole thing.

This book was refreshing to read as it and it isnt focused on the romance, however that doesnt mean it isnt there! Wink wink.

Mist of Fallen book 1 i feel is setting up for the rest of the series (im hoping for a rest of the series) because that ending!!!!!!!! THAT ENDING! But atleast Rusty the dog is ok!

Do i recommend? Yes, if your after a story with plot and a hairs width of romance
Am i hoping theres more to this series? Yes yes i am!

I really enjoyed this book! It’s not something I think I would usually pick to read myself but I am so glad that I did get the opportunity to read this. The story is not like any I’ve read before and that kept me so interested and hooked in this. I loved the relationship between Megana and her siblings and definitely pulled at my heart strings a couple times over her little brother. So sweet and protective.

I felt that sometimes I was left a little confused at the timeline in the story and definitely would have enjoyed more into the whole supernatural element in here. Her relationships with Gabriel and Jeremiah was captivating and enjoyed the two sides, both protective over her but in their own ways but even more so over each other.

The cliffhanger left at the end has left me anxiously waiting for the next book to be announced so I can pounce on it and know what’s going to happen next!

Really enjoyed this read and think it’s a wonderful debut novel.

It's a lovely story about fallen angels, doomsday, and terror, all blended with adventure. The plot revolves around a young girl named Megana and her siblings, particularly her brother who has mysteriously disappeared. The world is engulfed in apocalyptic chaos because one angel broke the celestial law.

The storyline is beautifully created and easy to read, but I feel there could have been more depth regarding the supernatural powers maybe, along with better character development and their backstories.

Now that I’ve finished the first book in the series, I realize I don’t have a clear picture of how the characters look. While there are mentions of eye and hair colors, details such as their ages or what they wore are lacking. After reading the blurb (which I always do after finishing a book to avoid spoilers), I discovered that the main character is only 17, a fact that should have been highlighted in the narrative.

If you’re looking for a "romantasy," this book might not meet your expectations. The title suggests, “She was never meant to see him, he was never meant to love her,” but I found there was little tension or closeness between the female and male characters. Although the headline implies a romantic subplot, I didn’t feel any genuine romance throughout. There were one kiss and hugs that seemed to come out of nowhere, but the necessary buildup was absent.

This novel is certainly suitable for teenagers, but adult readers may find it too simplistic. There’s no spice or smut, just to clarify for those looking for that element.

That said, the narrative about angels, wars, and the horror aspects is well-written. I almost cried at one point.

I also felt the need for more dialogue, as the text was sometimes overly descriptive. It would be beneficial for the author to incorporate more exchanges between characters in the next book to create stronger connections.

Despite the heavy descriptions, it was generally an easy read, and I finished it rather quickly. I gave it 4 stars because I experienced genuine emotions in a few scenes, but I would rate it closer to 3.5 stars overall.

Mist of Fallen a dystopian YA fantasy- I'd like to thank the author for allowing me the opportunity to read this book as an ARC.

What a fantastic idea! I absolutely loved the concept of this book, fallen angels, dystopian/end of world cataclysmic scenes, YA romance, strong FMC on a mission to find her missing brother. It really had everything I knew I would love. It really is a strong premise, unfortunately I just don't think it was executed as well as it could have been.

The book starts of incredibly strong, this author KNOWS how to world build. The intensity of the first 10 or so chapters was superb. However, part of my reasoning for a 3 star review was due to the repetitiveness of the world building, once you get past the first quarter of the book the descriptive language becomes very samey. I noticed that the same (or near same) sentence was used A LOT "the air felt stale, thick with dust and something metallic" unfortunately by the 5th time I'd read this sentence I was kind of over it and it became more of a frustration. I found myself skimming over parts of the book which were just chunks of descriptive language because I'd felt like I'd read it all before.

There is a great diversity of characters in the book all with their own distinguishable personalities. The relationships between the characters I had mixed feelings about. The FMC (Meg) and MMC (Gabriel)- supposed to be the love interest however the lack of dialogue between them really made me struggle to believe anything real. It's an odd concept to begin with anyway- arch/guardian angel falling in love with the woman he's watching over and saves (he falls in love before they have even spoken one word might I add). Saves her life and causes the world to collapse and she has no idea until quite late on in the book (miscommunication trope at its finest). So, the fact that the dialogue between them is so minimal really had me struggling. HOWEVER, FMC and Jeremiah- this was a totally different vibe! Their relationship was immaculate. As the broody best friend to the MMC Jeremiah had sarcasm, wit and very well written dialogue between himself and the FMC... I loved their relationship and to be honest was rooting for Jere more than Gabriel which probably isn't the vibe the author was going for.

The ending was a great cliffhanger and I'm intrigued to find out what happens in the 2nd book. Overall, I do think it is worth a read, I just would prepare yourself for long chapters of descriptive writing because the plot really is worth it.

3.5 stars*

The overall notion of this book is really good; guardian angel falls in love with human girl and defies heaven’s rules to bring her back to life. Human girl wants to ensure the safety of her family is this new apocalyptic world, and utilises everything and everyone that is at her disposal, albeit begrudgingly.

However, I found areas of the book repetitive. The idea that cars have rusted over after a month of the angels’ falling is repeated 2/3 times, there’s a sentence starter at the beginning of 2 chapters which is near enough the same, and the use of the term ‘remnants’ was used so much in the first few chapters that I started thinking of other words/phrases that could be used instead of it. These aren’t major things, nothing which affected the plot points at all, they’re just stuff I picked up on.

I found Megana to be annoying. Honey, your guardian angel risked heaven’s wrath and became a fallen angel because he loved you so much, he couldn’t be without you. He didn’t outright cause the death of the people in your life; yes he started the chain of events, but he didn’t kill them. Also, her constant running off. ITS AN APOCALYPSE. And she knows there are dangerous creatures out there, but she wants to go wondering around alone? Idiot. But I must remember she’s a 17 year old girl experiencing this without the help of any parents, so she’s going to make mistakes!

I also wanted more of how Gabriel fell in love with her. There’s not much of their relationship building other than the one kiss. When did he realise he loved her? What does he love most? How did she react to his wings? How did he feel when he first conversed with her, instead of simply watching over her? How did he feel once he had fallen, was it painful, did he have any regrets? I needed more answers, maybe a few more Gabriel chapters?

Megana, Gabriel and Jeremiah are giving love triangle, but I’m not sure because of her age, whether that’s something I’d want to see in book 2 or not! This is a YA dystopian so probably not…

Mist of fallen follows megana through an apocalyptic nightmare which started with her guardian angel Gabriel falling in love with her and breaking a law that caused the heavens to act and throw the angels under his guard to earth (fallen angels). She very quickly finds herself with her brothers trying to survive the wasteland left whilst trying to make sense of what happened. We're introduced to many characters along the way which keeps everything flowing and interesting. This is a story of strength, trust, and survival. I enjoyed the storyline and the plot twists and turns along the way. The world building was brilliantly written and very immersive. I struggled to connect with some of the characters and wish the love Gabriel felt and what led him to do what he did had some more background rather than being just an event but as a YA I can understand why this isn't fully explored. The way that megana behaved was very age appropriate and felt very realistic. I'm hoping a lot of the questions I have are answered in the next book as I feel there's a lot left unanswered and I'd love to see the relationship dynamics form more. Overall this was a great read with a great storyline and pace.

I will never think about angels in the same way again!

Set in a dystopian world, where fallen angels have caused death and destruction, and humanity is struggling to survive.

Megana was a strong and relatable FMC. I enjoyed the mystery around her and her search for her brothers. Listening to this book though I did think that it was supposed to be a love triangle between Megana, Gabriel and Jeremy, so I was surprised that it wasn’t a trope when I was looking it up afterwards. I do love forbidden love and Gabriel falls fast and hard but I was definitely team Jeremiah.

Whenever there are animals involved in these kind of stories, I’m always on edge the whole time in case anything happens to them, so I was a constant wreck worrying about Rusty.

The author has created a dark world, with a bleak haunting atmosphere and rich world building. I listened to the audiobook of Mist of Fallen and it had me hooked. I enjoyed the pacing and the narrator kept me engaged throughout. I enjoyed her performance.

Overall, I rate this 4⭐️

This book starts out really strong and had me completely hooked at the beginning. The relationship between the FMC, Megana and her brothers is powerfully written and has the reader invested in their journey. I would have liked a little bit more built up characters with strong backgrounds but these were still characters I cared about.

The fallen angels, Gabriel and Jeremiah were fascinating characters and Gabriel definitely had the most backstory which made him my favourite character.

I struggled with the pace at times which I felt almost gave me whiplash from the constant speeding up only to slow down again. I also had trouble with the timeline of events as there was very little indication of time passing as the book seemed to go from a normal world to post apocalyptic without the feeling of moving forward in time.

Towards the end of the book the pace picked up to almost lightning speed and I was sucked back in to the all action cliffhanger ending.

The author has created a strong cast of characters with great relationships so I’m intrigued to continue the series.

When Megana survives a catastrophic accident that should’ve been fatal, the circumstances of her survival set in motion a series of events that caused the world around her to crumble.

This is not my typical genre, but I did find that the storyline captured my attention right from the first chapter. I thought the characters were well-written and the events of the book flowed quickly enough that I was to stay interested in the book, right through to the end.

This book is clearly setting up for a sequel, and my only critique was that I felt that at times the narrative would grind to a halt, only to pick up steam hastily again, but not always smoothly.

That said, I did enjoy the story enough that I will be eagerly awaiting the next installment in this series.

Thank you to Amanda G Kaite and Wings & Words for the ALC opportunity.

Mist Of Fallen is a YA dystopian, supernatural fantasy. We follow Megana as she navigates her new reality. Fire has rained from the sky and a war has erupted on Earth. Heaven has banished Angels and humanity is left to fend for themselves.

Megana is a well written strong character. Her passion, love, strength and determination are brilliant. Having a gift of being able to see auras makes her a target for both sides. Her journey of self discovery, understanding the magnitude of her gift and her part in the war is excellent.

Amanda's world building and way of describing characters (especially the Angels) is immersive but not overwhelming.

If you like slow burn, found family, fantasy and Angels ... then this book is for you!

Megana, whose life fractures after surviving a near-fatal accident. Following the event, she is haunted by recurring visions of shadowy figures that observed her near-death experience—visions that quickly manifest into waking reality. The psychological tension escalates into full-scale apocalyptic disaster as the sky burns, cities collapse, and an unknown force descends upon the earth. Separated from her parents, Megana must navigate this broken world alongside her brothers while uncovering a chilling reality: the global destruction is intimately linked to her own past. Anchoring the survival narrative around Megana and her brothers adds grounded emotional stakes to a large-scale fantasy setting. If you enjoy dark, apocalyptic fantasies that mix psychological horror with fast-paced survival stories, Mist of Fallen offers a promising, suspense-filled ride.thank you to Beth of wings and words and the author for the amazing opportunity to hear this on audio and read the book I absolutely loved it

I loved this! This apocalyptic story with a twist was so refreshing! The writing was done well. The build up of the story had me wanting more.

I could relate to Megana in the wanting to save my loved ones and not hurting others in the process aspect. She is a fearless little bada** that won’t let anything stop her.

The concept of this book is just 🤌 who doesn't wish they had their own personal guardian angel fall in love with them and break ALL the rules to keep them safe?! There was definitely a lot left open for book number 2, including a possible love triangle?! please please please 🙏 The imagery was perfect. Even when describing the darker aspects of the book and I would say this definitely dips its toes ever so slightly into the horror genre! If you like a dark, fantasy, mystery with a hint of romance, I would add this to your list!

The tension and plot twist in this book was INSANE! The action was fast paced and amazing written, keeping me on the edge of my seat the entire time.

Megana's search for her family was heart breaking, with not only the amount of obstacles she had to face on the way, but seeing how desperate she was to find them. This book also beautifully set up for the next one, and I can't wait to keep reading this series!

Mist of Fallen was a book I genuinely wanted to love, especially because it started so incredibly strong.

One of the first things that stood out to me was the writing itself. The author has a beautiful way with sentences, and the transitions from one thought to another often feel effortless. There are moments where the prose simply flows, and the atmosphere she creates is haunting, desolate, and perfectly suited to a world that has already fallen apart.

And this world does not go easy on its characters.

The FMC was genuinely compelling to follow through her journey of survival and growth. Watching her fight her way through a world where the apocalypse spares no one — and especially not her — was one of the strongest parts of the book for me. She is constantly pushed, tested, hurt, and forced to keep moving, and I really enjoyed seeing how she adapted to everything thrown at her.

The action was another highlight. The fight scenes were intense, fast-paced, and genuinely exciting. When this book leans into danger and survival, it does it very well. There is a constant sense that something could go wrong at any moment, and some of the action sequences were easily among my favorite parts of the story.

But what really gave the journey an emotional purpose for me was her search for her brother.

I became genuinely invested in it. In a world where so much had already been lost, I desperately wanted her to find him. I kept hoping that, if nothing else, please let him have survived. That thread gave me something personal to hold onto through all the chaos and kept me turning the pages.

There is a lot here that I enjoyed, which is exactly why rating this book was difficult.

So, why 3 stars?

My biggest issue was repetition.

After a while, descriptions of abandoned cities, houses, and buildings began to feel very similar. Broken windows, abandoned cars, doors left open, tables still set for meals that would never be eaten… These details are incredibly effective at first, but because similar imagery and phrasing appeared so frequently, they gradually lost some of their impact for me. Instead of making each new place feel haunting, I sometimes felt as though I had already seen it before.

I also wanted much more dialogue, particularly between the main characters. There were relationships and dynamics I really wanted to become invested in, but I often felt there simply wasn't enough meaningful conversation between them to give those connections the depth I was looking for. And when dialogue did happen, some exchanges felt repetitive.

Another thing I struggled with was the FMC's emotional response to some of the enormous losses she experiences. There are moments that should be absolutely devastating — learning about loved ones dying, witnessing death, losing pieces of the world she knew — and I often wanted the story to sit with those emotions for longer. The reactions were there, but sometimes they passed so quickly that I didn't have enough time to truly feel them with her.

However, the biggest reason this ultimately remained a 3-star read for me was the lack of a solid foundation behind the larger story.

By the end of the book, I still had so many fundamental questions.

Why did the angels actually fall? What happened between Gabriel and the others? Did the other fallen angels follow him, oppose him, or have entirely different reasons for falling? What actually happened to humanity? Where did everyone go? What truly triggered this apocalypse?

I absolutely understand leaving mysteries for later books — especially in a series. I don't expect every question to be answered in book one. In fact, I want unanswered questions that make me desperate for the sequel.

But there is a difference, for me, between leaving mysteries unresolved and leaving the foundation itself unclear.

I felt as though I was given glimpses and crumbs of a much larger mythology without quite enough information to understand the basic framework behind it. Even Gabriel, despite his importance to the story, remained something of a mystery beyond his connection to the FMC. I wanted to know more about the angels, their fall, their motivations, the apocalypse, and the rules of this world.

Without that foundation, the survival structure eventually became somewhat repetitive for me: danger, attack, escape, survival, a moment of hope — and then another threat.

And that is frustrating precisely because I think there is a really interesting story underneath all of this, and I wanted the book to let me see more of it.

So this is not a 3-star rating because I thought Mist of Fallen was a bad book. I didn't.

There is beautiful writing here. There is atmosphere. There is brutal survival, great action, a FMC worth rooting for, and a search for her brother that genuinely had me emotionally invested.

I simply finished the book wanting more depth from its mythology, more meaningful dialogue, more room for its emotional moments to breathe, and a stronger foundation for the larger story.

*****Thank you to the Author for allowing me to read and advanced copy of this book*****

I was initially drawn to Mist of Fallen because of its themes, particularly the dystopian, end-of-the-world atmosphere and the promise of a strong female protagonist. Unfortunately, I think this leaned far more into YA territory than I had anticipated, and from the beginning I found myself slightly confused by how certain situations unfolded and how the characters ended up where they did.

At first, the descriptive writing was one of the book's strengths. It helped bring the world to life and made it easy to visualise the setting the author was creating. However, as the story progressed, the descriptions began to feel repetitive. There were several moments where I caught myself wondering if I had already read the same passage before and found myself flipping back through previous chapters to check. Combined with the longer chapter lengths, this made the pacing feel slower than it needed to be. There also seemed to be a lot of drama and high stakes situations without enough explanation as to why events were happening or how the characters had arrived there in the first place.

One of the standout aspects of the novel was the FMC's fierce devotion to her brothers. I loved her protective nature and the unquestioning way she continually put herself in danger to ensure their survival. Her interactions with the supporting cast were also enjoyable, filled with wit, sarcasm, and plenty of brooding tension.

Ironically, I think the strength of those relationships highlighted the weakness of the central romance. The romantic relationship between the FMC and MMC never quite landed for me. It felt underdeveloped, and at times it seemed as though the FMC herself had no idea she was part of a romantic storyline until much later in the book. As a result, I found myself disconnected from their relationship and honestly a little over it before it had properly begun.

That said, the overall plot had a lot of potential, and despite my frustrations, the ending definitely left me wanting answers. While this instalment didn't fully live up to what I was hoping for, I am interested enough to pick up the next book and see where the story goes from here.

Overall: A promising dystopian fantasy with a strong, protective heroine and an intriguing premise, but repetitive descriptions, uneven pacing, and a romance that failed to spark kept it from being a higher-rated read for me.

If you are looking for an audiobook that will completely pull you under and leave you screaming at your headphones when it ends, Mist of Fallen is it. Amanda G. Kaite crafts an intense, high-stakes story that hooks you from the opening chapter, but Chelsea Louise’s performance turns it into an absolute experience.
Performance & Narration
Chelsea Louise does an extraordinary job with the character work here. Rather than feeling like a single person reading a script, her voice morphs seamlessly between characters. Each distinct tone, shift in pitch, and cadence makes every person feel distinct and alive. It never feels like one narrator telling a story from a distance—you are right there in the thick of it with them.
Story & Plot
The premise is massive: an archangel falls head over heels, setting off a wave of apocalyptic terror across Earth. The sheer scale of the chaos keeps the pacing relentless. Megana’s unique ability to see auras adds a visually beautiful, otherworldly layer to her perspective amidst the destruction. Watching her navigate a shattering world—separated from her parents and trying to keep her brothers alive as cities burn—makes it impossible not to root for her. You are fully invested in her survival and every choice she makes.
Final Verdict
The moment those final words were spoken, I was left physically hanging, practically moaning in frustration. No, I need to know how this ends right now! Kaite builds the tension to an absolute fever pitch, and Louise's narration delivers the final emotional punch.
If you love end-of-the-world stakes, compelling supernatural abilities, and a narrator who breathes distinct life into every single character, give this a listen immediately—just be prepared to immediately demand the next installment the second it ends.

First of all thankyou for the author gifting me an E-book to review!

I will say I loved this book it was amazing, I love love love dark dystopian books so it was right up my alley.

It was very easy to follow along and read and I binged it in a day… Whoopsies…

The only faults I’d say this book has is the way it is formatted on kindle really annoyed me, the random spacing had me all over the place, then the pacing was a bit all over the place but it was still a fun ride, there was not a time I was bored, the story itself was amazing and I cannot recommend it enough if you love angels and dystopian novels!

I loved the found family and the world, I cannot wait for book 2… that ending??? Insane

I was lucky enough to receive an EArc by the author 🥰

This Book is a beautifully written and a tale that blends romance, mystery, and a touch of the supernatural.

Amanda’s lyrical prose paints vivid imagery, and the world-building is immersive from the very first page.

The emotional depth of the characters pulls you in, especially the protagonist’s inner journey.

While a few plot points felt slightly rushed, the overall storytelling kept me hooked.

The mood throughout the book is dark and enchanting—perfect for readers who enjoy stories with a touch of magic.

Definitely recommended for fans of gothic romance and atmospheric fantasy.

The story follows Megana, a seventeen-year-old whose life is upended when fire rains from the sky, her hometown is destroyed, and her family vanishes. As monsters rise and angels walk among humans, Megana must navigate a crumbling world with her younger brother and estranged sibling.
Amid the chaos, an angel named Gabriel defies Heaven's laws to save her, leading to a forbidden love that threatens the balance between light and darkness. The book promises intense emotional stakes, action-packed moments, and a blend of myth and reality.

Mist of the Fallen by Amanda G Kaite.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I read this book in one sitting. I couldn't put it down. I loved the cover and blurb of this book. I did like Magana. Jeremiah and Gabriel grew on me. Aferille, Manakeal, and Paskar i liked. I did not like the Cherubim. They sounded so creepy. How they were described aswell. Gave me goosebumps. The relationship with Megana and Raymond. It was unbreakable. I was surprised by the end. I really do hope there is more to come. Definitely recommend.

Mist of Fallen introduces us to Megana, a seventeen-year-old whose life shatters in a single night when “fire falls from the sky,” her hometown is consumed by flames, and her family vanishes into smoke and shadow.

Megana is not just fighting external forces (angels, darkness) but internal ones—grief, identity, betrayal. There’s a strong pull between duty and desire, which colors many of the character interactions.

A read that draws you into a world and leaves you wanting more I cannot wait for the next instalment!
