Corrina Morse wakes one morning to the piercing screams of her neighbors. She fears the worst for their five-week-old baby—but the reality is far darker. This single horrifying incident ignites a spree of murders that sweeps through the town at an alarming pace.

DCI Jacobs and DS Higgins are first on the case, initially treating it as a tragic, isolated act of familial violence. But as the killings continue, seemingly motiveless and brutal, they are forced to confront a chilling these murders might be connected. And could psychopathic rage be contagious—passed on by mere touch?

Father Caffrey watches over the people of Royal Hadryn, guiding his flock through tragedy and terror. But even his faith and spiritual strength may be tested beyond measure as the town descends into fear.

Desperate for answers, Corrina turns to an unlikely and unsavory a foul-smelling social outcast who seems to know far more than he admits—and may even be entwined in the horrors unfolding around them.

In a town where trust is scarce and evil spreads unseen, Corrina must uncover the truth before it’s too late.

I got a sneaky peek at this before release. It was my first novel from Matty, and it blew me away. phenomenal writing, that I couldn't put down. the characters were believable, and some you couldn't help but love. Matty's writing style flowed really well, and I really can not say anything bad about this novel. a definite five stars from me.

Reviewing from an ARC copy

What an introduction to an author that I hadn't read before.

From near the beginning having mentions of Alice Cooper and Sega versus Nintendo, I knew I would love this book. Even with those things never coming up again, my assumption was correct.

The book description itself, while describing the overarching story accurately, does not prepare you for all that it encompasses.

Religion in books is always an interesting thing to see how it pans out. This take on religion and the beginning of the gods was a new one to me. The building of something new kept me pleasantly surprised up until the ending.

The characters were all well written and you felt for them. The time jumps worked in with each new lot of characters that were introduced, and the backward and forward jumps work seamlessly for the story.

It's very hard to write a review without giving away any spoilers so to avoid that I will end with this:
I will definitely be reading more from this author.

*** ARC review ***

I was lucky enough to get an ARC of This Autonomous God by Matthew Cash last week. I will freely admit to being a big fan of Matthew Cash, and recommend him to anyone who hasn’t yet read his work.

Matthew Cash (Matty-Bob to his friends) writes a lot, and I mean A LOT, of short stories and novellas, so it’s always nice when one of his longer books arrives, and This Autonomous God (TAG for short) does not disappoint. Weighing in at over 450 pages, TAG allows Matty-Bob space to introduce characters, and give you time to care about them before the shit hits the fan. As is always the case with Cash’s writing, his characters feel like real people you could meet on the street, with real hopes and fears, real problems, and real reactions. There are no super heroes, or plucky fresh-faced kids ready to save their town, just normal people going about their lives and suddenly facing something beyond their comprehension.

Although the book is quite long, it doesn’t feel long. Split into sections, TAG moves along at a good pace and never feels like it’s dragging. This is all killer, no filler. Want character backstory and build up? You got it. Want religion, metaphysics and dare I even say (is there such a word) meta-religion? Yup, you got it. Or do you simply want shocking deaths and gore? Then guess what? You got that too.

The section titles may give a feel for how things are going, but this is one wild ride that rarely goes how you expect it to, and has the ability to shock and surprise at the turn of every page.

Prologue: Omniscient

Part One: Testament

Part Two: Genesis

Part Three: Exodus

Part Four: Revelation

I won’t give too much away in terms of the actual plot, but the basic story revolves around Corrina Morse who finds herself suddenly thrust into a shocking scene of violence and murder, and Father Peter Caffrey, who has a secret which may change the world.

This Autonomous God by Matthew Cash is released on 28th Jan, and is available now for pre-order on Amazon:

😈😈Autonomous God by Matthew A Cash 😈😈

This story had a shockingly horrific initial chapters so much that I had to get and walk away for a breather …. it was sickening evil that was happening, anyone who knows me it takes a lot for me to put a book down.

We have the character Corrina Morse who is waken one morning to shrill screams from her neighbours. The family have a 5-week-old baby. But when Corrina turns up to their neighbour’s house what she witnesses is will forever haunt her waking nightmares and the day. Never mind the character, it is etched on my mind too …… bloody hell!!!!

These murders the police are treating this as a one off, but unknown to them this will start a murder spree not even understandable to the human mind. DCI Jacobs and DS Higgins are the first on the scene, it’s so brutal and horrific. They realise that soon the murders could be connected and possibly contagious.

We are also introduced to a young Peter Caffrey whose upbringing is very strict, hard and cruel life, basically get on with it attitude by his parent Father Caffrey, a person whose life is to serve God, I took a dislike to him awful man. Peter is exploring life and death with unusual supernatural elements unbeknown to him.

I loved this book, and the author knows how to pull you into the book until the last chapter. I’m looking forward to ready more by this author, even though you shocked me lol!!!

A book not to be missed!!!! 😈😈😈😈

ARC copy review

Possession, murder, sex and religion.

This new novel from Matty has such an epic feel, it’s quite hard to describe and do it justice. Especially for the amount of effort that went into it.

From the prologue, we are taken right back to the creation of everything introducing us to the elder gods plus the start of the conflict between God and Satan, the tone is set for a future pitting gods against man. Jealous deities are never a good thing.

Flipping from past to present we learn that a presence is moving between hosts somehow, on a murderous rampage. But why? And what does Father Caffrey have to do with it? Corrina Morse may be the only one who can solve the mystery and save mankind. Royal Hadryn hides an ancient secret which is unleashed in brutal violence.

This is a big novel from Matty. But it doesn’t feel drawn out. It moves at a good pace, with blood and gore, folklore and fables, mystery and murder. It keeps you hooked from the intense start to the blinding end.

Anyone who is a part of the UK Horror scene may even spot some familiar names amongst the characters
