Yup, learned my lesson before, but for some reason I wanted to know if anything's changed with this author's MMC. Unfortunately, this one is still a pig; just type "women" in the search field to see his thoughts on them.
"The women I’m used to are simple. The easy type you can call for the night or a lunchtime blowjob. They know the score. I take what I want; they take what they can get. No emotions. No expectations. Just a place to sink my cock."
Good thing, though, this FMC isn't a freaking virgin (her norm); small mercies, really. Annoyingly, she had only been with one man.
I blink at him, eyebrows rising. “I’m not a virgin.” Knox tilts his head, then gives a slow shake. “Every woman’s a virgin until they take my cock.”
Great, we're still dealing with the same old inexperienced x hoe pairing. What a stupid cliché.
The actual writing was good, but the plot/story was just another arranged marriage "cliché". I stopped because the rest of the story in many aspects became predictable. I am tired of predictable plots.
Knox is another MMC/billionaire who comes for revenge after the death of Isla's father. That revenge is based upon what Isla's father did unbeknownst to her mother or Isla years before to Knox's company. New information that just comes to light at the right time gives Knox and his brothers the edge over Isla's family restaurant.
Fast forward with a marriage proposal for six months between Isla and Knox so that the terms of her father's will can be met and the 100 year old restaurant in downtown NY's future then be decided once a divorce is in place. Knox wants to close the restaurant and replace it with a multi-million dollar real estate building that will bring millions to his already successful family business and Isla wants to keep her grandparents restaurant. Isla is forced to marry Knox because her mom is sick, dad took out a $100,000 loan from Knox and the restaurant is not a profitable business considering it's location, taxes, employees and overhead.
The contract that the author continues to allude too in this story has become quite a talking point. Isla is supposed to be an educated woman who went over the 30 page contract excessively and signed without one change or edit, and continues to be surprised she missed major talking points. Who does that? Not one edit or change or even a discussion, you just sign it and then are shocked when told what it actually said. She should have had an attorney go over the contract, if contracts were not her thing.
Lastly, and probably most significant in this story is a MFC that is suppose to be strong, snarky and smart who falls for the man tormenting her and her mother's life in a very short period of time. Sure she does some "high school" childish pranks to get back at Knox, but honestly those make her look immature and certainly not very smart as the author wanted you to believe. Sex is always the defining moment in these stories as women apparently can't hold their own when it comes to sex with a good looking guy. Everything that has mattered up to that point, is now moot, making the MFC, look like the "good girl" submissive in their own story. What happened to push and pull in these stories before women just become another cliché?
BEAUTIFUL LIES is the first instalment in Faith Summers’ contemporary, adult VALE BILLIONAIRES erotic, romance series focusing on the Vale siblings. This is thirty-two year old, heir to the family owned Vale Global Holdings, Knox Vale, and twenty-six year old artist Isla Monroe’s story line.
NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.
Told from dual first person perspectives (Knox and Isla) BEAUTIFUL LIES follows in the wake of the death of Isla’s beloved father John Monroe, a man whose secrets ran dangerous and deep. With the family owned restaurant at stake, Isla and her mother will discover that all is not as it appears to be, and our heroine is about to become a payment for sins of the past. To save everything and everyone she loves, Isla is contracted to marry our story line hero, a man with a bigger agenda than she could have ever imagined.
The world building follows the building but acrimonious relationship between Isla and Knox, as Vale Global Holdings goes in for the proverbial kill. Isla believes she has six months to save her family legacy but there is not saving when the Vale family is involved.
The relationship between Knox and Isla is tempestuous at best. In an effort to save the family business, Isla is forced to marry a man she does not love but a man who will reveal years of secrets and lies that threaten her family. Falling for Isla was never in the cards but Knox finds himself falling for a woman whose heart he is about destroy. The $ex scenes are provocative and intense without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.
There is a large ensemble cast of colorful, energetic and sometimes questionable secondary and supporting characters. We are introduced to Knox’s siblings-Dorian, Levi, Locke, Adeline and their father Jeremiah Vale; Knox’s assistant Sheila, Isla’s ex boyfriend Chad Holloway, her best friend Mia, and Isla’s mother. Dorian’s story is next.
BEAUTIFUL LIES is a story of secrets and lies, betrayal and vengeance, power and control, family and relationships, acceptance and love. The character driven premise is edgy and dramatic; the romance is seductive and tense; the characters are desperate, determined and charismatic.
It would have been a four stars story if it didn't feel the same as Ruthless Knight. I love Faith's books and read almost all of them, but they kind of feel repetitive nowadays and I don't like it especially with them being loooong.
In here we have the same situation: a marriage contract of 6 months in which time they fall in love she finds out that he wasn't completely honest, he changes his mind, they reconcile and HEA, just as in Ruthless Knight.
In Beautiful Lies by Faith Summers, the story begins when Isla Monroe and her mother, Greta, are summoned to a meeting with their family trustee, William Goode, following the death of Isla's father, John. They discover that John was a disgraced former employee of Vale Global who had embezzled millions and left the family in massive debt, including a $100,000 personal loan from Knox Vale, the ruthless heir to the Vale empire. Knox presents a cold ultimatum: he will seize their remaining assets and close the family’s historic restaurant, Monroe’s, unless Isla agrees to marry him for six months to settle the debt. Despite her initial hatred for the man she considers a "monster," Isla signs the contract to save her mother’s medical treatment and their legacy.
As they begin their arrangement, Isla moves into Knox's world, where the lines between their public lies and private attraction start to blur. Knox is intensely possessive, even confronting Isla's ex-boyfriend, Chad, to make it clear that Isla now belongs to him. The tension between them culminates in Isla and Knox sleeping together, and Isla realizes she is falling in love with the man behind the ruthless mask. Knox also begins to open up, revealing a traumatic childhood involving an abusive mother, which helps Isla understand his cold nature.
Isla finds out from the news that Knox plans to demolish Monroe's restaurant to build a luxury development and she feels like Knox was using her all along. In the end, Knox proves his devotion by choosing Isla over his business plans, eventually abandoning the demolition and securing the restaurant for her family.

Beautiful Lies is the first book in the Vale Billionaires series. Isla’s dad passed away recently. She finds out her dad betrayed the Vale family. Knox Vale wants revenge for that betrayal. He leverages her family’s restaurant in order to do what he wants. He wants her to marry him for six months. Isla can’t stand Knox the minute she meets him but she can’t deny the attraction. Their chemistry is intense. She will do anything for her mom if that means marrying Knox to settle that debt. She tries to avoid him as much as possible, but the longer she gets to know him, she discovers there’s another man underneath the business persona. What happens when they cross that line? Will it be over in six months?
Knox is the heir to his family’s empire, Vale Global. That is his legacy and he is waiting to step into his father’s shoes. All he wants to do is prove himself but that is difficult because Isla’s father left a mess for him to clean up. Now he’s out for revenge and he’s using Isla to do it. Her father has debt and he uses that as leverage. He will forgive the debt and let her keep the restaurant a little longer if she marries him for six months. He has rules for her as his wife. He sees her as a business contract and nothing more but defiance intrigues him that he finds himself wanting her.
Faith Summers had me feeling so bad for Isla. She doesn’t even have time to grieve her father‘s death when she finds out he’s been keeping secrets. Not only that, but she has to pay for his sins by marrying a complete stranger she can’t stand. I loved getting to know Knox on a deeper level. He’s actually a really loyal man. His bond with his brothers is is great. The chemistry with Isla was so hot. Their scenes were so spicy, but I really loved their hateful banter. This was an emotional roller coaster. It’s filled with drama, humor, secrets, heat, and hilarious banter. I cannot wait for the next Vale brother.
Beautiful Lies is a compelling and refreshingly different novel that kept my attention from beginning to end. Faith Summers delivers a story built around secrets, emotional complexity, and the blurred lines between truth and perception with layers that unfold naturally as the plot progresses.
At the heart of the story are two well-developed main characters whose emotional depth really drives the novel. The female lead is strong yet vulnerable, shaped by past experiences that influence the choices she makes and the walls she keeps up. She feels realistic and relatable, especially in how she navigates trust, self-protection, and emotional risk. The male lead is equally complex, a somewhat dark character, but does have a heart. He is quite confident on the surface but layered with his own secrets and internal struggles. Their dynamic is engaging, charged with tension, and rooted in emotional nuance rather than clichés.
What I appreciated most was how unpredictable the story felt. The plot moves beyond the expected, offering twists and emotional depth that made both characters feel real and imperfect. The relationship develops in a way that feels earned, influenced by hidden truths and the consequences of past decisions.
This book stood out to me because it wasn’t formulaic. It felt intentional, thoughtful, and emotionally engaging, with enough intrigue to keep me turning the pages while still allowing space to reflect on the characters and their motivations.
If you’re looking for a novel that’s a bit different from the usual, one with an interesting plot, strong character development, and emotional layers, Beautiful Lies is absolutely worth reading. I thoroughly enjoyed it and would gladly recommend it.
Beautiful Lies is the first story in the Vale Billionaires series. It is so very well-written and I could not put it down. I loved the plot and the characters so much.
Isla and her parents own a restaurant that has been in her family for a long time. Her father has passed away. She and her mother find out that her father had betrayed the Vale family. The Vale family is very wealthy and own a major company. Knox Vale wants to enact revenge on Isla's family. He wants her to marry him for six months in exchange that she and her mother will not have to pay the money owed back to his family. Isla has no choice but to agree to marry Knox.
Isla knows Knox has a reputation of being ruthless. She can't stand him at all. Once they are married and are forced to live together she begins to see another side to Knox. He is a businessman and has rules for her to live by. Isla refuses to be only a contract to him and challenges him every step of the way. He has never seen anyone like her and he enjoys it. Their chemistry is off the charts.
I loved how strong Isla was. I felt sorry for her the way she was treated by Knox in the beginning. He was so cold to her. Once they got to know each other you see how much he grows to care for Isla. Their story is full of suspense and family. I love how close Knox was with his brothers. I look forward to more in this series.

MFC Isla and her mum receive more distressing news after her fathers passing when they are told he owed Vale Global quite a bit of money leaving the restaurant he owned as collateral, and Billionaire MMC Knox Vale has come to collect. He makes an offer they can’t refuse to avoid all the legal entanglements… Isla has to marry him. Beautiful Lies, a dark steamy romance that sets the heart afire is an enemies-to-lovers gathering of secrets, money, betrayal, drama, a marriage of convenience, personal vulnerability, intrigue, emotion, family dynamics, and passions. But what happens when pretend starts to become real in a marriage neither wanted and ends in six months? Becoming immersed in this nicely written contemporary romance with it’s well developed characters was a thrill that led to some surprises, and was a wonderful read that found the way to an amazing HEA.

This book got me from page one. I couldn't stop reading, it was sparkling and the attraction between the 2 main characters is so steamy and real.
When her life was at an absolute low Isla finds out it can even get worse. She has no other choice but to accept Knox his offer for a fake marriage for 6 months to solve all the debts her father left them.
Knox is known as the monster thanks to his past as a linebacker, but he still does this name justice at the family company. The change to get back at his old enemy by marrying his daughter he can't let go. Although she isn't the type he usually goes for. But he also doesn't do relationships. But when her ex shows up his feelings blow up, because she is his.
Great book to read, a bit at the dark side. Like Knox I wanted to do something with Chad the ex. He is sick with what he does more than once. I like how Isla is growing in this story and becoming more and more herself and stand up for herself.
This is the 1st story in the Vale Billionaires Series where Knox is out to get revenge at all cost once Isla’s dad passes. Isla and her mom do not get a chance to properly mourn as Knox shows up to a meeting with their lawyer and their bottom falls out - marry him for 6 months, no love and the family restaurant will not be taken as her father betrayed Knox and the entire Vale business over stolen funds. Isla doesn’t care for Knox but finds herself attracted to him causing mixed emotions as they marry and she gets to know the man, the Heir to the family business. These two find themselves in one situation after another and soon become more. Knox knows his original plan will cause problems but before he can change them or talk with Isla they become known and Isla is devastated and heartbroken. Their secret, drama, humor and relationship will take revenge and love to lengths neither saw coming!
I almost DNF. Knox was great. But the female character was really obnoxious. In her head, she was a little more mature but it never translated to actions. She pulled the most childish crap until about 45% into the story. And I'm over female romance characters not being able to control their sexual urges. It's eye rolling. She was also over the top in her reactions to the family restaurant. I mean, he could have done much worse things and this path gave her the ability to continue caring for her mother. A tiny bit of gratitude would have helped the reader see her as more mature. They had some good relationship building after she quit being ridiculous, but why would the male lead bother getting to that point? He was already addicted to her and there was absolutely no reason at that point for him to even like her let alone get over his abuse hang ups to try a relationship.
This was very "meh". Especially compared to other books by this author.
I went into this book expecting a fairly standard billionaire revenge romance and while it did deliver on familiar tropes, it surprised me with how emotionally layered it became. I liked the slow-burn tension, the morally grey hero and the way the story leaned into themes of betrayal, power and sacrifice without rushing the romance. The angst was solid, and I found myself genuinely invested in the push-and-pull dynamic between the MC's. That said, the power imbalance sometimes felt a little too heavy handed and there were moments where character motivations could’ve been explored more deeply rather than glossed over. The pacing was also inconsistent which pulled me out of the story just enough to notice. Overall, it was a compelling, emotional read with strong romantic tension but a few execution issues kept it from being a full 4 ⭐️ read for me.
FYI this review is solely for myself when I look back on recs. Contains spoilers.
⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶️🌶️
FMC Isla discovers that her father embezzled money from his old employer, Vale Global, when the heir of the company (MMC Knox) demands she marry him as repayment. He secretly plans to marry her and then take the restaurant her dad left her as compensation for the smear on his family name and the money he took.
They enter an arranged marriage where fake relationship develops real feelings. He's supper territorial immediately and gets ultra possessive when Islas ex, Chad, shows up and says he wants her back.
Chad keeps showing up at the mist inopportune times but it makes for some great jealousy.
In the end Chad exposes Knox plans and then Knox decides not to go through with it because he loves her and wants her to be happy.
Lots of spice. I liked it.

Love this new series with the Vale Billionaires. A captivating story Isla Monroe, father just died and in walks Knox Vale. Unbeknownst to her and her mother her father owes him money, and he's come to collect. I love how she stands up to him; she tries breaking the rules and challenges him. Knox is all about contracts and toeing the line or there's punishment, can he keep his cold heart from falling for the best woman who has walked into his life? What happens his big secret is revealed? I received a free copy of this book via Cherrylily ARCs and am voluntarily leaving a review.
A marriage of convenience between Knox Vale and Isla Monroe turns out to be much more real than anticipated! With an enemies to lovers vibe at first, the heat between these two is shocking. The chemistry is undeniable!
Soon the edges of the organized deal they agreed upon blur as real feelings and attachments grow. This fake marriage is quite real.
A good billionaire romance with heat and angst.

The moment that Isla's father passed away long buried secrets surface. Now the family restaurant is on the verge of being taken away by Vale Global, with Knox at the helm. Tension is high between Isla and Know but many obstacles, including family drama are a factor that keeps them separate. This story was intense and full of triggers but there are.koments where the humor had me smiling. It was an entertaining read.

Beautiful Lies, Book 1 of 5 of the Vale Billionaires series is an arranged marriage, dark billionaire story. Isla’s father did some shady business with the Vale family & Knox Vale is out for revenge. Knox’s reputation has been harmed by past events & he is working hard to repair it. Isla is in a vulnerable position, trying to protect her family legacy while paying back this “debt”. It was fun to watch Knox finally crumble & give into his feelings about Isla. There’s heat & sarcastic banter between these enemies that made this a fun read.
This book was sinfully delicious. A lush combination of darkness and emotion is skillfully woven into a silken lure that latches on tightly and pulls you in deeply. The tension and intensity are exquisite and the drama juicy. I thought Isla and Knox were complex characters and I liked them both. There are layers here that need discovery and exploration to truly uncover the two hearts that to me felt destined for each other.
3.5 stars not 4 full stars but close .. I love a long book but this book felt like dragged but in other areas it flashed by quickly. We barely got anything of the marriage all of a sudden it was 4 months gone but the lead up to the wedding dragged on. I felt like Knox was tame compared to a lot of the other arranged marriage books I’ve dived into. I needed more alpha possessiveness from him but I’m just being picky!
OM Drama FMC’s ex, who once walked away to chase his dreams. Despite the Fmc being married to the MMC, she insists on maintaining a friendship with her Ex. During her honeymoon, she even meets him for coffee, which naturally infuriates Mmc. Yet, instead of addressing their issues through honest communication, every conflict between the couple is conveniently resolved through Sex... I am bored.

This story didn't exactly follow the typical arranged marriage trope formula and it didn't rely heavily on the plot to drive the characters together, so this was a pleasant surprise to see Knox and Isla actually spending time together and falling in love based on each other. Their animosity wasn't prolonged either so that was a plus. It is a good start to a new series by this author.

This was so good… It kept me up half the night because I couldn’t put it down. Likable characters and a great storyline keep you flipping pages. Knox Vale and Isla Monroe enter into an agreement that was destined for failure from the beginning. Their attraction is too real to sustain the farce they’re trying to convince themselves is real. They are both ready for more… I received a free copy of this book. This review was posted voluntarily.
The billionaire and the woman he decides is his. *sigh*
The plot was intriguing and well paced. World building was excellent and solidly drawn. The characters drove the storyline and they were very compelling and complex and complicated and perfectly steamy together. Thoroughly enjoyed and highly recommend.

Great start to a new series. Faith Summers is one of my favorite authors. I have not encountered a book that she has written that I have been sucked into. Beautiful Lies, Knox and Isla are amazing characters, they seem to balance each other out. Their chemistry is so strong that the agreement they enter into is set to fail. Great author, characters, and storyline.

I haven’t read a book this amazing in such a along time I would rate it a hundred stars if I could. You will love the romance between our Hero, Knox and the wonderful heroine Isla. I especially loved such a hard hero, Knox, unravel into such a softie and he falls helplessly in love with Isla. I cannot wait to read the next book in this series which will involve Knox’s brother Dorian. Read this book you will not be disappointed.
I am absolutely obsessed with this book, it consumed me in a way that it’s not even remotely funny. I devoured this book in one sitting and I wanted more.
Knox & Isla’s relationship starts rocky the shadow of revenge and the hate he has for her dad overshadows the attraction they have, the tension between these two is so palpable that I could feel it.
The fine line between love and hate gets blurred easily and they will burn your Kindle with their scorching chemistry and banter.
Knox takes forever to accept his feelings for Isla, but when he does, this man is obsessed, possessive and so perfect! Love him so much, he is definitely one of my top book boyfriends.
Isla is a breath of fresh air, but she gives him back good too, she is not a doormat FMC, I fell in love with her instantly. She is so relatable.
The banter, the tension, the characters, and the plot were extremely captivating and made this a top-notch read. I can’t wait for the next book.
