Stormie Omartian's books have been a blessing in my lift by how she simplefies and breaks down the bible in ways that help me see me place in Christ.I have just gotten to page 47.I will give this book 5 stars.
I used this as a devotional throughout this year during my prayer time. One of the BEST as it helped me go through the Bible and pray. It really helped unite my interest in every book of the Bible. Stormie has such a heart for God's Word and sharing the truth of what it says. I resonate with her thoughts completely!
This is a must read. A treasure of book no matter your walk or faith in Christ. This book is guaranteed to enlighten, encourage, and bring a deeper meaning of prayer through the scriptures. I will read it over and over again.
An excellent book for praying your way through the bible. Sometimes I just open it anywhere. What I like about Stormie is the way she puts prayers into her books. It has taught me to pray to God in a way that is very personal and precious.
Stormie compiled a good small book for deviation and meditation. The contents consist of only scriptures, grouped together for easy reference. It does not have chapters per say but each page has a title and verses that go along with the title. You can read the book in any situation; when having a quiet time or when praying over the scriptures.
I have the hard copy of the book. It is small making it easy to carry it around in your pocket or handbag.
I loved this devotional! I think it may only be the second one I've actually completed (the other was "My Utmost for His Highest" - Awesome!). Each day would focus on a personalized prayer over a verse or two of Scripture, starting in Genesis and ending in Revelation. I think I liked it because she took the time to explain the verse and give meaning that most would not already know.
I have been reading this book for several months. A chapter a day. Each chapter is about 1 page and half long, preceded by a scripture passage. It is very enlightening and has strenthened my faith journey. I have several of Stormie Omartian's books and like them all.
I felt this skipped through the Bible a bit too much. But upon reflecting, you couldn't include much more without it becoming cumbersome. My Bible study group did not make a strong connection with this book as we have with others.

When God does not answer your prayers, step back and wait. He is giving you an opportunity to trust Him in the midst of the uncertainty and ambiguity you may be feeling.
I am a big fan of this series. They help me reflect as well inspire my prayer and journal time with the Lord. She puts prayers and scriptures together in a way I can really relate to and really helps me focus on my devotion. These were set up in the perfect way to do one every morning. The perfect size not too short but not too long. Prefect for this mom of a two year old. I am almost sad that I finished reading this but would be great to do all over again.
Only the second Stormie Omartian book I've read, but Wow! I have learned so much. Stormie just lays bare the Holy Bible in such a beautiful, loving, and humble way. The book is designed to encourage you to really dig in to your Bible, to read the whole context of selected scripture. It starts at the front and ends with revelation, focusing on anywhere from 1 to 8 selections per book depending on the book of the Bible. Obviously some are longer than others, and some are just "meatier". Stormie ends each study with a beautifully written and heartfelt prayer. I use the space on this page for my own prayer journal, and have found it very fulfilling. I can't say enough for her Bible studies. She certainly comes across as a kind, and compassionate person, and a true believer in God's word and living according to His word. She is none of the things that make some people turn away from Christianity.
This daily devotional pulls excerpts from various books of the bible to give you a one year reading experience that let's you travel lightly and quickly through God's word. Ms. Omartian's quick devotional essays based on the reading could be insightful but were often lip service to common evangelical beliefs. She provided reminders of basic teaching but little enlightenment. Her readings could also be tone deaf, pulling scriptures from context to twist them to what she wanted them to say as opposed to what God was actually trying to say in His word.
I would recommend this to someone not yet ready to commit to a one year reading plan for the bible but eager for a quick overview of God's word.
It probably would have been better if I read it as a devotional (like it is intended to be) and not simply all the way through in several days (I borrowed the book and wanted to be able to return it). It really is a good devotional/book which can help one focus on their prayer life. If any draw backs, it can become understandably repetitive sometimes. The book could have been just as effective if it was shorter. Nevertheless, it was worth the read and I would be willing to recommend to people if they were looking for a devotional on prayer and would even read again myself in the future.
Stormie is a bestselling author whose books you can read over and over again. And this one is no exception.
In “The Power of Praying through the Bible,” Stormie walks you from Genesis through Revelation, seamlessly weaving together wisdom with scripture and beautiful prayers.
Stormie has such a gift for making the Bible relatable and applicable. I highly recommend this book for anyone wanting to pray using scripture.
Good, compact book with 140 Bible verses and short, poignant corresponding prayers. I read two other of Omaritan's prayer books almost thirty years ago and they have guided my daily prayers since. Thanks, Amy, for the gift of this little prayer guide. It's a gem!
I loved this book. I didn't read cover to cover, but as I read a book of the Bible if I read a chapter that was in Stormie's book then would read what Stormie wrote and prayed about that chapter.
