Rate this book
Mango Ball is baseball like you’ve never seen before. It’s fast, chaotic, full of dancing, and rules made by the fans.

Complete with a dancing umpire, Orbit the mischievous mascot, and players who prove anything can happen in Mango Bay.

Maren McCrae is a dancer, not a sports fan. But when the Mango Bay Moonshots hire her as their choreographer, she says yes anyway. The job is loud, chaotic, and terrifying for someone with anxiety… yet it’s also a critical step toward her dream of choreographing on Broadway.

Oscar Rodriguez is the Moonshot's grumpy shortstop and notorious bad boy. Still reeling after his longtime girlfriend, and former team choreographer, cheated on him, Oscar greets Maren with nothing but sharp edges. Their first meeting is a disaster. Their chemistry is undeniable.

As fan-driven rules blur the lines on the field and sparks fly off it, this workplace rivalry turns up the heat. Not only is Oscar spiraling toward redemption, Maren is chasing her future, and one surprise offer could change everything.

I write spicy, emotion-forward romance for readers who crave longing, second chances, and love that refuses to stay buried.

My stories live in the quiet space between almost and always, where feelings simmer, restraint fractures, and intimacy is earned. Expect mutual pining, he-falls-first energy, and heat that hits harder becasue it means something.

If you love slow burns with real payoff, characters who ache before they heal, and stories that linger long after the last page, you're in the right place.

DNF at 25%.

As much as I was hyped for this one, I didn't expect the leads to be so incredibly immature. I just couldn't emotionally invest in either of them, and was continually annoyed by the MMC's attitude.

This was my first book by Harper Rae James and I throughly enjoyed her writing it’s easy to follow. I was super excited to jump into this one because the cover and premise of the story pulled me in immediately.

This story starts and pulls you in immediately with a gripping and shocking beginning to the story for Oscar. Who is the main male character and you just feel for the guy because of what he’s experienced.

Then cue Maren who has quit her job and she doesn’t know it but what just happened will benefit her to land this gig to be a choreographer but will also land her being in a interesting entanglement with Oscar.

You follow along as Oscar deals with heartbreak of what he’s experienced (now I will say - yes he’s a douche, and some of the things he says and does will frustrate you but keep in mind his situation he’s going through) he’s very much a grump and playing the field. But somehow he can’t get Maren out of his head and finds himself becoming jealous over her.

Maren is feisty, sassy and has a bubbly infectious personality that you will fall in love with as she tells Oscar off more than once and puts him in his place.

Maren and Oscar begin to dabble around with their relationship as they are clearly attracted to each other. But as I was reading/listening along one thing I felt I was missing was where they actually speak about being in a relationship I don’t feel that was ever defined at all throughout until the end.

For me - I went into this one thinking that it might be an emotionally charged (which I don’t always need by any means) and there wasn’t that level for me, which is fine. This is fast paced which I also didn’t mind I enjoyed how Harper keeps her chapters short but there were some areas I would’ve liked more details in. The spice and sexual comments and jokes also felt a bit forced in some areas and not needed to tell this story.

Overall - Say You’ll Stay was a fun fast paced sports/work romance that dabbled spice throughout with a grump and sunshine but doesn’t shy away from some uncomfortable situations and how you react in those moments.

Honestly, Jax and Sloane’s story? I can’t wait for it. I enjoyed Jax a lot throughout this story and I am intrigued for his story.

Dear Readers,

This one is unexpected in the best ways. When I wrote this book, I wanted to explore what happens when love doesn't come at the right time. When two people who care deeply about each other still make choices that pull them apart. I was drawn to the idea that love is scary and makes people do unexpected things. Sometimes it can be paralyzing, and can also be the thing that brings you back together. I didn't want the perfect love story, I wanted raw emotion mixed with fun. Characters who are unapologetically flawed.

Maren and Ozzie make mistakes they can't undo, and a connection that doesn't fade even when they need it to. Writing them meant leaning into uncomfortable moments, missteps, and emotional weight that comes with trying again, and I loved every second of it! Please check the trigger warnings.

Because the truth is, healing a broken heart isn't simple. It's messy. It lingers in ways you don't expect, shaping how you love, how you trust, and how you move forward. And sometimes the person who changes everything shows up when you least expect it, when you're not ready.

If you're drawn to stories where characters aren't perfect with a side of chaos, fun and music, this will be the book for you!

Happy reading,
Harper Rae

This couple proves that even when things aren’t easy it’s okay to fight through it and come out better on the other shit. Ozzie was dealt a bad hand at the beginning. Did he always handle the situation properly? Maybe not but that’s real life. No one is perfection. Maren showing how she deals with anxiety and overcoming it to get through day to day life was amazing. This story is about as real as it gets. Sometimes things happen fast and out of our control. I love this couple and how they work through tough choices. They truly can’t fight their connection. Love love love

Oscar “Ozzie” Rodriguez plays shortstop for the Mango Bay Moonshots, a professional exhibition baseball team. He’s your classic grump, and it doesn’t help that his longtime girlfriend—also the team’s choreographer—was caught cheating on him with his best friend and teammate. Now, with the scandal broadcast on a podcast, Ozzie just wants to focus on making a comeback.

Maren McCrae, a Mango Bay local, is presented with the opportunity to apply for the Moonshots’ newly vacant choreographer position after the swift exit of Ozzie’s ex. The loud, boisterous environment isn’t ideal for her anxiety, but she makes the most of it. Her ultimate dream is to choreograph for Broadway, and she sees this job as a stepping stone toward that goal. Excited by the opportunity, she quickly catches the attention of many players—including Ozzie.

Ozzie and Maren don’t exactly hit it off at first, and soon find themselves locked in a heated rivalry. But as they’re forced into more one-on-one moments, their undeniable chemistry begins to surface. As her time with the team grows, so does her connection with Ozzie. Maren worries about becoming just a rebound, while Ozzie struggles to balance his comeback with the risk of opening his heart again. Stolen moments become their new normal—until a once-in-a-lifetime offer threatens to change everything.

I was so surprised by this book. I knew I was going to enjoy it, but I devoured it! It has total Savannah Bananas vibes, and this was such a fun, fresh twist on a sports romance.

I love a baseball romance and jumped at the opportunity to ARC read this book—and it didn’t disappoint! Ozzie and Maren are the quintessential grumpy x sunshine couple, and Harper wrote this trope so well. I also loved the high-angst moments and found myself holding my breath quite a few times. There were also some heart-wrenching scenes as Ozzie and Maren worked through personal struggles, both individually and together. The emotions ran strong throughout, and I even found myself tearing up at a few points.

I loved how we get to see Maren’s moments of anxiety and how she works through them with the support of her friends. She’s so determined to reach her goals and won’t let anything stop her!

Ozzie is a grumpy, closed-off man for much of the story, but he has moments that really surprised me. I love that he isn’t afraid to show his true emotions as the story unfolds.

Ruby, Sadie, and Jax—along with several others—are incredibly supportive of both Ozzie and Maren as they pursue their goals. They aren’t alone in their toughest moments, and I loved seeing how encouraged they were by the people around them. With such a strong support system, these two are undeniable.

I’m so excited for this series to continue and will definitely be keeping my fingers crossed for Sloan’s story! Thank you to Harper Rae James and Good Girl’s PR for the ARC of Say You’ll Stay in exchange for my honest opinion. I loved it!

This one was so cute! On the whole, I really enjoyed Oscar and Maren and their whole story! I loved how we got to see Maren fight for her career, and push herself toward the jobs that felt scary, even though she was perfectly qualified! Her creativity and drive were so amazing to watch, especially while pursuing career options that seemed outside of the box! And I loved getting to watch Oscar as he went through such a rough journey, to fight and get to where he was healed and open to what he wanted for himself! The way he pushed himself to grow and be the best he could be for his team and himself, while fighting for Maren, was really amazing to see! Plus all the side characters that we got to meet were such a good time! I can't wait to see what's next for Mango Bay!! Overall, this one was really fun, relatively quick, and I really enjoyed it! 4.25 stars; 3 chili peppers

I came for a cute sports romance & trying something other then hockey and yalllll I accidentally inhaled the whole book like snacks at midnight😍🤭

Ozzie = grumpy, emotionally constipated athlete🙃
Maren = anxious dream chaser trying not to spiral in a high energy chaos zone!😵‍💫

Their first meetings?I want to say A mess. Awkward, tense, a little “please stop talking.” Naturally… the chemistry starts simmering anyway.
They’re both disasters (lovingly), terrible at communicating, and way too in their heads....but that’s what makes it work really haha!! Watching Ozzie thaw and Maren find her footing? Weirdly heart hitting between all the swoony chaos.
Bonus points for the side characters who basically run a found family emotional support group.

Overall: grumpy × sunshine, but make it messy, heartfelt, and dangerously bingeable!! Will I be thinking about their dancing while im at a MLB game later this week? Likely😜

Huge thank you to Harper Rae James & Good Girls PR for letting me ARC read!! 🥰

The book starts off with Oscar ( Ozzie or Oz) in an exclusive interview with Sloan and he walks in on his long term girlfriend cheating on him with one of his best friends. This made him become grumpy and he was trying really hard not to breakdown. So his other best friend Jax takes him out with the team to enjoy bottle service at Ruby’s. Maren has quit her job as a dancing judge cause it’s not what is going to get her to her dream job. She works at Ruby’s and she is providing the bottle service to the Mango Bay Moonshots. She knows what happens to Ozzie and she try’s to be empathetic but Ozzie starts being an ass. They are a couple with real world problems. They may not of started off great. She has really bad anxiety and she try’s really hard to work through that and sometimes not everything comes out the way she meant it too. There chemistry/connection should be what everyone should strive for in a relationship. I love this book and I love that baseball parts are based off the Savannah Bananas. Because of this book I finally watched a Savannah Banana game and It really helped me to see what Maren was choreographing. I love how Harper would tell you the time line in her book. Mare and Oz are meant to be and they both had stuff to work on separately and together to let their relationship grow and become stronger. The support they have backing them is just amazing. Ozzie has Jax, Mare has Sadie and Ruby who is the mother she always needed and wanted. The support Oz and Mare show each other by letting the other to fulfill their dreams is always good to have.

Thank you Harper Rae James for trusting me to be a part of your ARC team and read this wonderful book. I can’t wait to read about Sloan and Jax’s story.

I went into this expecting a fun sports romance, but I didn’t expect to absolutely fly through it the way I did. This book hooked me fast and didn’t let go—equal parts swoony, emotional, and messy in the best way.

At the center of the story are Ozzie and Maren, two very imperfect people trying to navigate career pressures, personal baggage, and a connection neither of them planned for. Ozzie starts off as your classic grumpy, closed-off athlete—burned by betrayal and stuck in his own head. Meanwhile, Maren is chasing a dream while battling anxiety, stepping into a high-energy environment that constantly pushes her out of her comfort zone.

Their first interactions? Not great. There’s tension, miscommunication, and a lot of clashing personalities. But underneath all of that friction is a slow-building chemistry that sneaks up on you. The more time they’re forced together, the more those walls start to crack—and watching that shift felt incredibly real.

What stood out most to me was how raw and human both characters felt. They aren’t polished or perfect—they make mistakes, they overthink, they struggle to communicate. Maren’s anxiety is portrayed in a way that feels honest and relatable, and I loved seeing her growth alongside the support system around her. Ozzie, despite his rough exterior, has moments of vulnerability that really hit, especially as he starts to open up and confront his past.

The emotional depth surprised me. There were light, fun moments, but also heavier scenes that carried real weight. I found myself fully invested—not just in the romance, but in their individual journeys too.

And let’s not forget the side characters—they bring so much warmth and balance to the story. The friendships, the encouragement, the sense of found family… it all adds another layer that makes the relationship between Ozzie and Maren feel even stronger.

Overall, this felt like a fresh, engaging take on a sports romance with strong grumpy x sunshine energy, layered emotions, and characters that feel real enough to root for. I’m already excited to see where this series goes next.

Thank you Harper Rae James for the advanced copy. These are my honest thoughts.

I have always wanted to watch a Savannah Banana game, and that's what Mango Ball would be like. I was a fan! My favorite parts of the book included game time, practice, and then of course details of life in their small town.

Ozzie was a great guy, who was a grumpy
a$$ for a bit there after catching his bestie with his girl. Who could blame him? But when he stopped being grumpy for Maren, I was here for itttttt. Yes sir. Give me a man that is grumpy to the world but an absolute dreamboat to his significant other.

Maren had anxiety that the author portrayed perfectly. I understood her spirals intimately. She was a great friend, talented, took simple pleasures (like a good drink with a yummy treat, or a new book at home), and had goals. Her bestie helped her through her anxiety spirals and Oz quieted her brain (so real too). She had the funniest phrase she said through out the book that made you laugh because it is just odd to hear but fitting in each scene. . "F••• a tit."

🥭 Lines:
Don't let her live rent free in your head when you don't occupy any real estate in hers.

Any decision feels daunting to me most days. I overthink it even if it feels simple and straight forward. 💯

I don't know what you are into, but I only like stalker romances when they include masked men in my books.

Anxiety, that's why. Because my entire life I've felt the need to rehearse difficult and even exciting conversations until I feel prepared to have them so I don't sound like a babbling idiot. I know that to anyone else, it sounds insane. {So. Dang. Real.}

I just assumed it's something everyone does, because when I don't see the conversation coming and I say things the wrong way—it haunts me for days while I play out all the things I could have said instead.

Why is he acting like this is going to be so f•••ing hard. Its pasta. How hard can this really be?

You're chasing the one thing that's calling to your soul, and I'm watching mine move away.

...but all it did was make the silence louder.

{I was ready to give this a higher rating but I am not a fan of third act breakup. So....if you don't mind that, then this may be a 4.5 star book.}

This one was a huge disappointment for me. I went in so excited because it is a baseball romance, had fun chaotic vibes like the Savannah Bananas, and a gorgeous cover... but it was full of issues.

The biggest issue was the overwhelming amount of other man/other woman drama. It wasn’t just present, but it was constant and uncomfortable. There are scenes where he is literally with someone else in front of her in a sexual way, which completely killed any romance for me. I don’t enjoy reading about a love interest actively hooking up with other people while feelings are supposedly developing, and this took it way too far.

On top of that, the characters felt incredibly immature. These are adults in their late 20s and early 30s, yet they act like high schoolers. The relationship between Maren and Ozzie felt shallow and overly sexual, with little emotional depth or genuine connection. I didn’t feel real chemistry, just forced tension.

The male characters were also a major turnoff. They came across as walking red flags, and the way they talk about women was honestly gross. The repeated use of “chicks” and the try hard alpha attitude felt outdated, cringey, and icky.

Ozzie, especially, was awful. His redemption didn’t feel earned at all, and the letter he writes toward the end felt like pulling teeth just to get the bare minimum of accountability. It actually made me roll my eyes more than anything.

This had a fun concept, but the execution was frustrating, uncomfortable, and honestly kind of exhausting to get through.

Thank you to Good Girls PR and the author, Harper Rae James, for an e-arc. All opinions are my own!

Short Synopsis:
Maren has always wanted to choreograph a Broadway show, but getting choreography experience in Mango Bay the easiest task. When the Mango Bay Moonshots hire her as their new choreographer, the job is loud, chaotic, and terrifying for someone with anxiety… yet it’s also a critical step toward her dream.

Ozzie is the Moonshot's grumpy shortstop and notorious bad boy. Still reeling after his longtime girlfriend, and former team choreographer, cheated on him, his first meeting with Maren is a disaster. As fan-driven rules blur the lines on the field and sparks fly off it, this workplace rivalry turns up the heat. Can they deny their feelings and work towards their dreams? Or, will the chemistry they feel win out in the end?

My Thoughts:
I was looking for a great baseball book and was surprised by how different this was from a typical baseball book! I enjoyed the Savannah Bananas type team and the focus on dance routines for fan engagement. While Ozzie was a major grump, his redeeming quality was how much he cared about the fans, and especially some of the youngest fans of the game! I appreciated how much Maren grew throughout the story and how she learned to lean on others while working through her anxieties.

Thank you to BookFunnel for the e-arc!

Say you’ll stay is a baseball romance (reminiscent of The Party Animals and Savannah Bananas) set in a small beach town. We have FMC Maren who is a bartender by night and dancer/dance instructor by day. Our MMC is a baseball player for the Moonshots baseball team. I found that the transitions were kind of odd and that the story is surface level. Certain scenes would happen but then wouldn’t be mentioned again even though they should have been explored more. I can’t say too much without discussing spoilers. I also wanted way more background of the characters both main and side and the town that they lived in. I do love the short chapters and the friendship between the MMC and Jax and the FMC and Sadie.

I don’t like how surface level the interactions are between the FMC and MMC are. I feel the lust between them but from the little we see of their relationship I do not feel the long term chemistry at all. I can’t wrap my head around the third act breakup and the resolution of that.

Listen I feel like I had a good time. I feel like this story has a ton of potential but I want more banter, I want more emotional chemistry and I want to be shown their story and not just told their story.

I would recommend this book as a quick spicy read to get you in the mood for baseball season!

If you’re looking for a fun, banter filled, spicy, Savannah Bananas-esque baseball romance then look no further than Say You’ll Stay by Harper Rae. This was a really fun and quick read with a lot of fun/funny moments, and really enjoyable characters! If all of that plus a happily ever after sounds like your next read then I’d definitely add this book to your TBR immediately!

When I started Say You’ll Stay I fell in love with Ozzie and Mare right away, the dynamic between the two was just fun and banter-filled. I really related to Maren and her passion and drive as well as some of her insecurities. I really liked Ozzie as well though he took a moment to grow on me as it seemed he started off as a really good down to earth guy and then took a sharp turn to grump real quickly. But as his relationship with Maren progressed he started to grow on. This started to slow down for me though, when Mare and Ozzie took a bit of an immature turn in their relationship. It was like all communication came to a stop, and they just continued to make decisions based on assumptions. Even after it seemed like they worked things out communication was not their strong suit, which just made their relationship fall a little flat. Overall though I really enjoyed the ending of this book and they’re happily ever after though so this is one I’d still recommend.

Have you ever heard of the Savannah Bananas and wished there was a romance book based on a sports team like theirs? If so, Say You’ll Stay by Harper Rae James is exactly what you’re looking for.

Oscar, the shortstop for the Mango Bay dancing baseball team, has just walked in on his longtime girlfriend, who also happens to be the team’s choreographer, in a compromising situation with one of his best friends and teammates. Understandably, he’s in a terrible mood and not exactly pleasant to be around.

Maren dreams of becoming a Broadway choreographer, and the opportunity that could get her there is landing a job with the Mango Bay dancing baseball team. The only problem? One very grumpy player who somehow manages to capture her attention.

When I first started this book, I honestly didn’t expect to love it as much as I did. The relationship moved a little too quickly for my taste, but if you can get past that, I absolutely encourage you to give this book a chance. I found myself laughing out loud at times and could vividly picture the fun, high-energy dance scenes throughout.

Thank you to Good Girls PR and Harper Rae James for the opportunity to read an ARC of this book. I can’t wait to read Sloan and Jax’s story in book two!

Received an advanced copy, opinions are my own.

I honestly should have DNF’d Say You'll Stay. It has good bones—a cute premise and a small-town sports setting that could easily open the door for a great series—but unfortunately, it just didn’t land for me.

The biggest issue was the characters. We’re told they’re in their 30s, but they act like they’re stuck in high school. The men, especially, talk about women in a way that feels outdated and uncomfortable, which made it really hard to stay invested. The FMC’s emotions were all over the place—I genuinely couldn’t keep track of where she stood from one moment to the next.

The pacing and structure didn’t help either. It somehow felt both too long and incomplete at the same time, like large chunks had been cut out, leaving the story choppy and disjointed. I found myself rereading paragraphs just trying to figure out what was actually happening, and honestly, most of it felt unnecessary.

I knew by about 20% that this probably wasn’t going to be for me, but I stuck it out hoping the romance would redeem things. It didn’t. Unfortunately, this one’s a no from me.

And also… we need to talk about that grand gesture. You pour your heart out in a letter as a last-ditch effort to save your relationship—and then don’t return the phone call?? I’m sorry, what?? Good lord.

This book started out with a bang quite literally! All the characters were excellent, but I think Maren was my favorite, and very relatable. From her anxiety to her dreams of dancing and creating choreography, not having a great relationship with her parents, to having a little found family she was strong and determined.
Ozzy’s character and how he not only dealt with heartbreak but love after betrayal was so well done. I loved that he wasn’t afraid to cry, and his anger also felt very relatable.
The choreography Maren designed for the baseball players was fun take on how sports are not only about the game, but the entertainment.
Although Maren and Ozzy started out hating each other there was always an attraction. There time together in the beginning was swoony and I loved their chemistry. But, when things got difficult, I really liked that they never gave up on each other. Afterall, relationships never stay in the honeymoon phase, at some point real life enters in to the picture and they take work.
If you enjoy workplace romance with spice, laughs, and tears this is a must read!

Say You’ll Stay
by Harper Rae James
⭐️⭐️⭐️.5

This baseball romance was such a fun and easy read! It gave me strong Savannah Bananas vibes, which added a playful, entertaining energy to the story. The short chapters made it quick to get through, and I stayed engaged the whole time. I especially enjoyed how the baseball element was woven into the plot—it really added to the overall charm.

For me, the characters felt a bit immature at times, and the romance leaned more toward physical attraction than emotional connection. I tend to prefer stories with deeper character development, so that made it a little harder for me to fully connect. Ozzie’s back-and-forth decisions were occasionally frustrating, and while his relationship with Maren had its sweet moments, it developed very quickly and felt like it could have used more depth.

Overall, I still found this to be an enjoyable read and would rate it 3.5 stars. I’m definitely interested in continuing the series to learn more about the other characters. Thank you to Good Girls PR for the eARC!

Say You’ll Stay is a fun and engaging baseball romance that blends humor, chemistry, and emotional growth.

The story immediately stands out with its unique setting and energy, reminiscent of the Savannah Bananas style of baseball—bringing a light, entertaining, and almost cinematic feel to the reading experience.

Oscar, the MMC, is guarded and jaded after being cheated on by his longtime girlfriend, which shapes his initial demeanor. In contrast, Maren brings a bright, sunshine-like energy, creating a strong grumpy x sunshine dynamic that drives their connection.

Their first meeting is far from perfect, but the chemistry between them is immediate and compelling. What makes their relationship stand out is how they continue to choose each other, even when things become difficult.

The story balances humor and emotional depth well, making it both relatable and enjoyable from start to finish.

Overall, this is a well-rounded romance that delivers on both entertainment and character development.

I wanted to like this book more than I actually did.

I loved the concept of the dancing baseball team and the office romance after Oscar found his ex, who worked for the team, cheating on him. On the positive sides of the story, the chemistry between the MCs was great and I loved the banter throughout the book. There were too many moments between the MCs that felt childish and immature, and I had a hard time getting past that.

SOME SPOILERS BELOW...

This is definitely a personal preference for me, but I did not love that Oscar had a causal hook up that is mentioned for a good part of the story and that he is hooking up with her while interested in Maren. Oscar is also kind of a jerk to the other girl (like not knowing their name after being together multiple times).

I also wasn't a fan of how the third act break-up went down and how drawn out it was. This ties back into some of the immaturity between the two and (again a me thing) I didn't like that they were with other people while they were apart, but still obviously in love with each other.

I wasn't sure if I would be able to fit this into my busy schedule, but I am so glad that I did. I absolutely loved this book. I was giggling and kicking my feet for about the whole first half.

I was unfortunately very sad at the plot twist, which I did not see coming. It almost had me crying. But I think the emotional aspect of it created a good amount of suspense that really kept me wanting to continue reading. I couldn't stop reading after that.

I'm so happy that this had an HEA ending. I was rooting so hard for them. The epilogue was even cuter. I wish it had been longer. But I am very excited for Jax and Sloane's book. I will definitely be reading theirs.

I also have to note that I was very very excited to see the Jersey mention in this book (my home state). The mascot for the Jersey team was such a creative idea and I absolutely loved it. No one does bagels better than Jersey. So bonus points for that :)

I’m not going to lie… I *hated* this from about 87% on. The lead-up had me fully invested, but the big twist and the way the conflict played out completely threw me off. If that section had been handled differently (and with less time-hopping), this easily would’ve been a 4-star read for me.

I almost didn’t push through, but I’m glad I did because it picked back up toward the end. Still… that stretch was rough.

Also, the relationship felt way more driven by lust than love for most of the book. I get that “BookTok spice” is a big thing right now, but it didn’t fully work for me here. On top of that, the characters felt pretty immature at times. Not how I’d expect people in their 30s to handle situations.

That said, I *loved* Oscar, and the side characters were great. I’m definitely intrigued by the setup for book two, though I do think a bit too much of the next plot was revealed. Overall: mixed feelings, but not a total loss.

Thank you to Good Girls PR and the author!

This book was so much fun. It starts out wild as we meet our MMC Oscar who is on the Mango Bay Moonshots baseball team and is the crowd favorite player and has been dating the choreographer Tatum for years when he walks in on her and his teammate together while he is on a live interview being streamed to thousands of people. This incident of course makes him harden his heart to people and love. In walks our little ball of anxiety and sunshine FMC Maren who applies for the now open choreographer position. Her and Oscar bump heads a lot as he is always a grump. Over time their relationship evolves and they start hooking up and dating. But when Maren is offered her dream job 6 hours away in New York.. can they find a way to make it work??... The spice in this book was great as per usual with Harper's books🔥🔥 and the character growth was wonderful as well. I absolutely can't wait for Sloan's story. 😍😍

The perfect spring read!!

I really enjoyed the overall feel of this book. I have loved the Savanna Bananas performances and Harper brought them into our romance world!!
What more could a girl want
Oscar our MMC is a proud dancing (shirtless) member of the The Moonshines. He is giving an interview live when he walks in on his girl (teams choreographer) and teammate defiling the dance studio!! While his world has been turned upside down the team needs a new choreographer.
Enter Maren our FMC. This is a dream come true for her and a step in the right direction for her career until Oscar gets her fired....
These two have chemistry and a push and pull that will make you sweat and swoon. While there are also moments that made me so sad. I felt these characters pain like it was my own.
This is just a good time!! Congrats Harper on another great story. I also can't wait to continue reading books in Mango Bay.

I think this is going to be such a fun series! This is the first book in the Mango Bay series and I’m excited to see what comes next. I loved how Ozzie and Maren balanced each other out so much. Ozzie is such a grump, but is also soft only for her? Even though at times Ozzie made me want to ask him what is he doing!! I thought the author did a great job portraying anxiety for Maren.
Some things that didn’t work for me though was how they were both with other people but were together or wanting to date? It was a bit too much. And Maren and Ozzie were both really immature at times.
Overall I enjoyed not only the relationship but also the setting of the book. It was fun that we got to see the practices and some of the games!

All I thought about while reading this was the Savannah Bannas and how I can almost place every character to one of their players. That made it more fun to read.

It was a quick read that kept my attention the entire time.

You get love, healing and second chances.

When Maren thinks Ozzie is just looking for a rebound after catching his long time girlfriend cheating on him, she tries to stay clear. But neither one of them can avoid each other.

After the flame ignites between the two, Mare gets a job offer hundred of miles away from Mango Bay.

When two hard headed love birds meet, it's difficult for them to understand each other. And misunderstanding is what causes trouble in paradise.

I am so thankful I got a ARC copy of this because it was the perfect read the week baseball season started!

*I received a copy of Say You’ll Stay as an ARC in agreement for an honest review*
If you’re looking for a book that makes you feel every emotion possible in a roller coaster but slowly pieces you back together piece by piece this is for you.
Say You’ll Stay hooks you in from the first few paragraphs, tapping into elements and emotions (in true Harper fashion).
Oscar is a grumpy yet easy to fall in love with (in my opinion 🤤) MMC who starts off with his heart in shambles and lashing out at all of the wrong people.
Maren is looking for a change of pace when she becomes the new Moonshots choreographer.
Their love story has more of the instant on one end and hesitant at first for the other. It’s filled a roller coaster of emotion and mental health aspects and representation that is done in such a tasteful, respectful way.

Thank you so much Harper Rae James and Good Girls PR for this gorgeous ARC and lovely story.

I love the uniqueness Harper Rae injected to make this an original baseball romance with art, heat, and a little small town zest. Mango Ball isn’t just baseball. The minor characters and the chaos made this a short and fast read.

Our FMC Maren, an anxious dancer chasing Broadway dreams, and Oz, the grumpy shortstop with a bruised heart and a reputation he can’t shake made for a steamy and sweet story.

The forced proximity worked so well and if you love sports romance with heart, heat, and characters fighting for their futures while falling for each other anyway, you need to read this.

Thank you to Harper Rae James for the ARC of this book!

Yet another delayed review, I actually had the pleasure of Alpha reading this book and I was hooked from the very beginning. I loved the idea of a banana ball inspired romance and this book had all of the fun elements that people go to watch banana ball games for, and even gave some behind the scenes looks at what goes into the planning for the dance routines and everything. Maren is such a queen, also extremely relatable since she suffers from anxiety, and just doing everything to achieve her dreams despite that is so inspiring. TBH I hated Oscar at first lol but he did get his redemption thankfully and I absolutely love him and Maren together! Cannot wait for the rest of this series, it is definitely a must read!
