This is a historical novel about World War II in the South Pacific. It has been over 70 years since the beginning of the war with Japan and generations have come and gone during that time. This novel is based upon actual events during the war and the fictional principal character, Whit Barlow a, banker, rancher and congressman has been inserted in those years as the eyes and ears of Congress and President Franklin Delano Roosevelt. Congress was well aware that the cost to fight the war, plus the demands for resources in Europe to assist the British Empire in defeating Germany would have a strong effect on the economy of the United States. After the debacle at Pearl Harbor Congress did not have a lot of faith in the U.S. Navy to do its job of defending us in the South Pacific; thus they felt someone with the skills of Whit Barlow would be needed. Lt/Commander Barlow was a graduate of Annapolis.
