My Thoughts:
AHH!!! Where’s book 2 at and who can I stalk to get it. I enjoyed this book, but I read it way to fast and wanted it to be longer. It is an amazingly fast paced book. I loved how this book blended sci-fi and fantasy in a such a cool way. It leans a lot in the Sci-Fi direction, has Fantasy secondary and of course Romantasy. I enjoyed the way that the realms were set up and how they were evolving. The MMC in this book really sealed the deal for me. Do not get me wrong all the characters were great I just enjoyed his personality the most. The banter in this book was top tier. Iris did a really good job making the characters relatable. When reading the book I felt sometimes as if I was CeCe and to me that is a good thing when reading a book, I was invested and enveloped and cannot wait to see what happens with CeCe and Luc in book 2.
I would like to thank Iris Gil for the opportunity to read her book, meet her characters and experience her world. I truly had a fantastic time.

Torn Between Realms was a thrilling page-turner with interesting concepts consisting of present-time real world (for example NY) mixed with other simultaneously existing realms and the people/beings dwelling among them and their roles they play.
There is a map and explanations that help with understanding the new “world” and job of “warpers” which is the MMC Lucien’s role. Lucien is a SUPER enjoyable character. 😍
Chloe (CeCe) is relatable with trying to move up and prove herself in her career in the beginning of the book. I love how we jump right into the action with CeCe and Luc’s moment of being thrown together by a split second decision.
“There are moments that define you—moments that split life into before and after. A breath. A choice. A second. One path keeps you safe. Predictable. The other tears you apart and remakes you entirely. I’ve never been safe or predictable. So I take door number two.”
I enjoyed the characters as well as their relationships. With CeCe and Luc, I wouldn’t necessarily consider this a slow burn romance since they have an instant connection/pull to each other right after the incident that threw them together and CeCe into Luc’s realm.
Some of my favorite relationships were CeCe and Luc’s best friends, Kate and Xan. They are very refreshing and are loyal, chosen family-type that you can call in any situation and they will have your back.
This was a fun ride to see how they all developed and worked together to embrace new, uncertain powers building in CeCe along with established powers of the others to face multiple twists and turns and hardships.
“Cece steps forward, slipping her fingers into mine like it’s the most natural thing in the world. Like she’s already made her choice. And I realize maybe this is how revolutions are born. Not from rage. Or resentment. But from love.”
The only thing was I felt a little more time could have been spent developing certain parts of the book to make it, I don’t know, more “smooth” and enveloping. It didn’t completely suck me in like a few books have, BUT it was close.
Overall, I very much enjoyed this book and am very thankful for the ARC from Iris Gil and her team to be able to leave this review. Can’t wait to see what is in store for them in the second book!

OKAY WOW! This book was definitely a wild and interesting journey! I am a little conflicted on how I feel about it right now but overall I enjoyed my time reading it.
First, I want to get all of the good things out there! I love Cece and Lucien’s bond, they are so sweet and I was very often smiling to myself while reading their moments together!!
We get right to the action pretty much on page 1 which sometimes can be a hindrance to the world building but in this particular instance I think it benefited!
The sci-fi that’s interwoven into the plot is SO MUCH FUN! I love love love sci-fi and there were quite a few times where it reminded me of Star Wars and as a huge SW nerd I appreciated that, intentional or not!
There were a few reveals/twists that I felt I was able to predict early on but there were also a few that left me in SHOCK so I am still very pleased in that regard!
Hidden powers?? Definitely slowly becoming a favorite trope of mine!! I am obsessed!!
I absolutely enjoyed reading this book, it was fast paced and very easy to read but there are a few little things that bothered me.
As much as I love Cece and Luc, I wish their characters were a bit more fleshed out along with their relationship. I was left wanting more alone time with just them. Their relationship needed more time to grow and it felt like there wasn’t any with all the chaos going on.
All of the side characters, Xan, Kate and the others from both realms were all so much fun to follow along with but at times the dialogue felt a little choppy.
Aside from those very small things I genuinely enjoyed reading Torn Between Realms and am absolutely looking forward to the next book in the series!!
I’m sure a lot of these little issues I’m being nit picky about will improve in book 2 as this is Iris Gil’s debut!!
A very fun and intriguing start to a series and I can’t wait to see more of Cece and Luc!!

first off thank you so much to the author for gifting me with this ARC. I had the pleasure of read Torn Between Realms, published 03/24/2026. This story follows the characters among multiple realms.
First we have Cece, and I really loved her as a character because she is very driven and intelligent. I liked that the story brought about modern elements of living in the city and work and friendships.
Lucien is the dark, brood character. He very much is a “touch her and die” character
I loved Xan..he was comical and had both modern and ethereal moments. He’s strong but a softie.
And Kate, a true friend let’s be real. She always sticks by Cece and doesn’t question anything. I’d want a Kate as a friend.
At first, I had a hard time connecting with the characters. It felt like a lot of building up and at first I didn’t see the climax of the story BUT about 50-75% in, the plot HIT and I was very pleasantly surprised. The last 25% of the book I finished very quickly and there was soooo many twists and turns. It’s definitely one to continue throughout because it does get VERY good! I’m so excited to see where the second book takes us! It kind of left on a cliffhanger, so I will be anxiously awaiting until then!

I received this book as an e arc.
This was such an interesting mix of fantasy and sci-fi, and the plot itself really pulled me in. It had that twisty, other-realm feel that kept me curious about where the story was going. The ending especially caught my attention — that final twist definitely made me interested to see what happens next in the series.
That said, I do wish the execution had been a bit stronger. A lot of the story felt like it moved really quickly, while at the same time not much was actually happening. Major moments seemed to fly by without getting the depth they deserved. I would have loved more world-building and more time spent developing the characters.
The female main character didn’t fully click for me either. I struggled to connect with her, and I think deeper character development might have helped with that. The book also mentions that when she returns, more time has passed than she realized — which is such a cool concept — but it wasn’t explored as much as I hoped it would be.

As a first book in a fantasy series, I thought this one was overall pretty good and a solid start. The author does a really great job with world building, and I appreciated how the story takes place in a version of our own world where the fantasy elements slowly begin to alter reality. Having Lucian arrive and disrupt the normal world creates an interesting tension between the familiar and the supernatural.
One thing I really appreciated was the main character, Cece. It’s refreshing to read a fantasy story where the female lead is a bit older and college educated rather than the typical teenage or very young protagonist we see so often in the genre. That added a level of maturity that I enjoyed, and honestly I wish more fantasy books did this.
I also really liked Kate as a character. When Cece tells her what happened, Kate doesn’t dismiss her or treat her like she’s crazy. Instead, she listens, supports her, and reacts with genuine care. That kind of friendship felt realistic and grounding in the middle of all the chaos.
That said, there were a few moments that pulled me out of the story. At times I found myself wishing Cece would ask more questions. If someone from another realm suddenly appeared in my apartment, I’d probably be asking a lot more than she does, basic things like who they are, what they do, and why they’re here. Instead, the characters sometimes jump to asking about each other’s love lives before addressing the bigger, more obvious questions about identity and purpose, which felt a little strange.
I was also a bit confused about how Cece suddenly became the leader of the group when the others seem to have so much more experience. It made me wonder if they were genuinely following her or just letting her take charge temporarily.
The romance elements were okay, though I did wish the sex scene had been more descriptive and emotionally engaging. It felt a little rushed compared to the buildup.
Character-wise, I found myself really intrigued by Daniel. I kind of love the possibility that he might be a double agent who ends up betraying Cece, it adds tension and makes the story more interesting.
And I liked Zalga quite a bit. She clearly carries a lot of hurt and struggle, but she still manages to put others before herself. That willingness to act for the greater good makes her a compelling character, and I’m curious to see how her story develops.
Overall, this felt like a strong setup for the rest of the series. The world building and characters are interesting enough that I’d definitely keep reading to see where things go next.

Torn Between Realms is a debut novel by Iris Gil. The start sucks you in and sets you up for a series of twists and turns. The romance is sweet and happens early on. So if you are a lover of trials, slow burns, or enemies to lovers you won’t find that here. They do face challenges that will test their love and this is a main focal point of the book. There are multiple spicy scenes but they are not graphic/crazy. Sorry dark romance and closed door fans.
The pacing is fast and at times hard to follow. There is time taken at the beginning for world building which makes you feel like the story will be longer than it actually is. A map is even included! Once the action starts it is fast paced. There are details you’ll need to pay attention to in order to understand things later on. However the details are not elaborated on too much so they’re easy to miss until you’re questioning why an event just happened and are taking time to backtrack.
I believe the author intends for this to be a two book series but this first book could’ve easily been split into two books or made slightly longer to continue building the history of the realms and backstories of the characters. The character development is….. interesting. I loved all of the characters except the best friend of our FMC. I feel like all the characters acted realistic for their situations except her. I honestly felt like this character was almost an afterthought or was not meant to take on a larger role until she had to so the author had to fit her in somehow? This character had the potential to be a voice of reason and strong lead character but instead she just believes everything up front and doesn’t question things as much as you would’ve expected her to.
Our FMC also accepts the situation far more easily than expected. The author could’ve developed her line of reasoning a little better for readers to follow. Once I thought about the FMCs words and few lines depicting her reasoning it made more sense as to why she accepted things so quickly. Especially towards the end, her choices at the start make a little more sense.
I will be interested to read book two to see how all the characters tie together. There are multiple actors in this story each with their own motivations. However not all the motivations are revealed in this book so we will have to wait on book two.
I would recommend this book to those who want a mix of SciFi, Fantasy and romance. The setting is current day and mostly set in NYC. Tropes: found family, forbidden love, Chosen One.

My thoughts: I really enjoyed this book and had a hard time putting it down. The character development is done so well, and you can really relate to them. Cece is a smart, career driven woman who doesn’t back down from a challenge. Her whole life gets turned upside down and I wondered at points how she hadn’t cracked under the pressure yet.
I appreciated the story so much. I loved seeing the connections form right away, and not having to wait for it. It works so well for this story. The concept of the realms is super fun, and am hoping we get to dive more into that in the next book.
Get ready for plot twists and surprises, all of which add more to the story to keep you guessing on what’s coming next. The cliffhanger ending has me impatiently waiting for the next book to see how CeCe and Luc’s story ends!

I had been in a reading slump after my last few reads and I have been itching to find something that catches my attention.
This book 100% solved that. I needed something refreshing, and there’s nothing more refreshing than a blend of fantasy and sci-fi with a romance that isn’t a standard slow burn or enemies to lovers.
Cece & Luc’s story was captivating from the start, easy to follow, and truly enjoyable. It’s a love story that I can’t wait to finish with the next book.
As a FMC, Cece’s growth is solid, and the banter between characters is smooth and engaging. (Who doesn’t love some good banter?)
The only thing that kept me from giving a full 5 star review is the world building. I think there could have been more in this story, along with a little more focus on the major plot moments.
Overall, it was a nice change of pace so I’ll definitely be continuing this journey!

A perfect hybrid of sci-fi and fantasy that transports you across realms. I was immersed into such a creative world that goes beyond the word unique. The world building was intricately designed, and leaves you wanting to go with Luc across the realms just to witness the wonders of the world, especially the capital Pomerium. It doesn’t take long to be introduced to the magic, and once it appears you are constantly reading on to discover the beauty each ability brings.
CeCe stands out amongst other FMC’s, she’s trust into a new world, new abilities, and new threats that would make most people hide away. CeCe takes it all in stride, unwavering, and ready to stand and fight as an equal and not a victim. Luc is someone who can protect me any time he’d like, he protects those he cares about, and doesn’t cave to pretending to be someone else. I wouldn’t classify Luc and CeCe’s relationship being a slow burn since you can see their relationship develop really early on in the beginning. Despite that, it was really sweet to see their romance bloom throughout the story. They both complement each other beautifully and gift us with beautiful quotes, “ I realize maybe this is how revolutions are born. Not from rage. Or resentment. But from love.”.
I loved the found family in this book. CeCe only has Kate in her life, who I might add brings other friendships to shame. Xan is to Luc as Kate is to CeCe. He brings humor and fun to the story, giving a lightness to the story as it becomes apparent that worlds are colliding and danger is becoming closer everyday. I’m looking forward to reading different perspectives throughout the next book, I loved the chance to read one chapter in Xan’s point of view, and I’m hoping we get an insight on Kate’s as well.
This book doesn’t leave with you with a massive cliffhanger, it gives you something better: a beginning. The beginning of new relationships, identify, and creating your own destiny. I can’t wait to dig further int this world, leaning more about surgers, and just how amazingly powerful CeCe will become. I highly recommend this book to those who want a fast paced adventure, outstanding world building, and loveable characters. I enjoyed reading this book. It was easy to get into and the characters were very likeable. I really enjoyed Cece's best friend Kate. I also enjoyed Xan. "Good," he (Xan) says. "Because I didn't come to talk you down. I came to stand with you." That is the best type of friend to have. I love that Kate and Xan are both ride or dies. This book had twists and betrayals. It also had some telepathy, which is a favorite of mine. I thought the book leaned sci-fi ish, which typically isn't my favorite genre, but it had enough romantasy elements to keep me hooked. A lot of readers highlight how compelling the premise is—and I completely agree. There’s this constant sense that something bigger is unfolding beneath the surface, and it keeps you turning the pages.
Lucien absolutely stole the show for me. Morally gray, mysterious, not entirely human… say less. He brings that addictive tension to every scene, and I found myself way more invested whenever he was involved. You can just tell his character is going to deepen in the next book. Cece, overall I feel fell flat for me as a FMC, I hope we see more of her in Book 2.
Where this felt slightly weaker—and something commonly echoed in similar ratings—is the world-building. The ideas are so intriguing, but I wanted more depth and clarity to really feel grounded in the realms and their rules. It felt like we were just brushing the surface of something that could be incredible with a bit more expansion.
That said, this very much reads like a setup for a bigger story. The hints at larger conflicts and the introduction of mysterious side characters have me very curious about what’s coming next.
Overall, a strong, intriguing start with a standout love interest—I just wanted a bit more depth to fully match the ambition of the concept. Definitely continuing the series.

I enjoyed this book a lot! The worldbuilding, characters, magic system, and the plot was unique and kept me interested. I am excited to find out how the story concludes in book two. I loved the characters and how they interacted each other. I particularly liked that Kate and Xan were ride or dies. It's refreshing to see a friendship take time to listen versus writing someone off.
That being said, I do have a few critiques. These might all just be a me thing or a preference.
At times I had a hard time following the magic system and how it worked. I was able to use context clues and it didn't keep me from understanding the overall scene.
I felt that the FMC fell a little flat for me. Her voice just didn't stick out as I feel it should have as the main lead. I didn't have this issue with Lucien or Kate and Xan. Because Lucien is from another realm, I feel we got more of a backstory and world building in his chapters. In Cece's chapters, she was just pining after Lucien. Even when they were apart, it felt like nothing happened in her chapters.
I know this one is a personal preference, but I am not a fan of instant love. By 30% into the book the characters were already 'in love'. I would have much rather have the love scenes sprinkled throughout the chapters so we could watch them fall in love and feel that payoff when they choose each other.
The plot of warpers and another realm is very intriguing. I feel like the author did a great job setting it up. I do wish some of the mechanics that were setup were further explored (ie time moving differently in each realm).
Overall, I am excited for the next book and to see how it concludes.

I received this book as an ARC, and I am leaving an honest review because there is no way I wouldn’t love this book!
This was such an enjoyable read! The worldbuilding, characters, magic system, and conflict were so unique and interesting! Magic mixed with sci-fi theming was such an interesting choice. The way they use their magic and the whole magic system itself is kind of lost on me. I did not fully grasp the way it worked or how things interacted with it, but there are enough context clues to help me muddle my way through. This is completely a ME problem; I don’t think that the writing was the problem. The conflict and all the moving parts (that we know of) were well written and really enjoyable to unravel and connect.
I loved the progression of the story and characters; everyone seemed so interesting and had enough lore and personality to not feel flat and one-dimensional. I loved their interactions with each other; it was light enough not to drag the story down, but at the same time, I would have loved to see longer scenes with relationship progression and more conversation. Torn Between Realms… and Finishing This Book 😅📖
First off, thank you Iris for the ARC…. I always appreciate getting a chance to read a novel early!
I’m going to be a little generous here because this is a debut, and honestly… it started strong. Like, “texting my book club that I might be impressed” strong.
And then… we took a turn. A sharp one. Off a cliff.
The romance? Instant. Like microwave popcorn instant. One minute they meet, the next they’re deeply bonded soulmates… and I’m sitting here like, “Did I miss a chapter?? A conversation?? Eye contact that lasted longer than 3 seconds??”
The characters somehow have no idea what’s going on… while also confidently acting like they absolutely do. Every other page felt like:
“I don’t understand anything.”
proceeds to explain everything anyway
And can we talk about the awakening??? There’s something awakening inside her… but no one knows what… and I’m screaming:
“WHAT IS IT?!? A power? A vibe? A mild inconvenience???”
By page 200, I was emotionally preparing my goodbye speech.
By page 300, I had accidentally entered full skim mode just trying to cross the finish line.
Overall, I see the potential and there is an interesting concept here but the execution left me more confused than captivated. I’d definitely be curious to see how the author grows in future books!

I’m going to be a little generous here because this is a debut, and honestly… it started strong. Like, “texting my book club that I might be impressed” strong.
And then… we took a turn. A sharp one. Off a cliff.
The romance? Instant. Like microwave popcorn instant. One minute they meet, the next they’re deeply bonded soulmates… and I’m sitting here like, “Did I miss a chapter?? A conversation?? Eye contact that lasted longer than 3 seconds??”
The characters somehow have no idea what’s going on… while also confidently acting like they absolutely do. Every other page felt like:
“I don’t understand anything.”
proceeds to explain everything anyway
And can we talk about the awakening??? There’s something awakening inside her… but no one knows what… and I’m screaming:
“WHAT IS IT?!? A power? A vibe? A mild inconvenience???”
By page 200, I was emotionally preparing my goodbye speech.
By page 300, I had accidentally entered full skim mode just trying to cross the finish line.
Overall, I see the potential and there is an interesting concept here but the execution left me more confused than captivated. I’d definitely be curious to see how the author grows in future books!

I received an ARC of Torn Between Realms by Iris Gil, and it was such a pleasure to dive into this story early.
Going into this book, I truly didn’t know what to expect, but it ended up surprising me in the best way. One thing I really appreciated was the relationship development from the beginning. Sometimes a slow burn works, but other times I want to see that connection start forming right away and this book delivered that.
Cece is an incredibly strong FMC. The amount of twists and emotional moments she had to face would have broken most people. There were several moments where I honestly thought, I don’t know how she’s holding it together right now. Watching her navigate everything that was thrown at her made her character even more compelling.
The concept of finding love while coming from two completely different realms adds such an interesting layer of tension to the story. It makes an already complicated situation feel even more impossible, and that dynamic really kept me invested.
The world-building was immersive, the magic system felt powerful, and the character surprises kept me on my toes. Just when I thought I had something figured out, the story would take another turn.
And now I’m left with so many questions especially about Luc. I’m very curious to see what happens next.
Overall, this was a really enjoyable read with strong characters, engaging world-building, and plenty of twists to keep you hooked.

This book is an ambitious blend of urban fantasy and sci-fi that hits the ground running! The premise caught my attention immediately, and the unique magic system kept me turning the pages. If you’re looking for a fast-paced read that doesn't let up, this is a great pick.
The genre-bending elements worked surprisingly well together. The magic system felt fresh and distinct from the standard tropes I usually see in urban fantasy.
This story is told in multi-POV style. I loved getting into the heads of different characters. It added a layer of depth to the fast-moving plot.
While Cece and Lucien are the focus, Xanther absolutely stole the show for me. Every time he was on the page, the story lit up. He is incredibly compelling—honestly, maybe even more so than our leads!

Cece has so much potential as an FMC, but I struggled with the "insta-love" between her and Lucien. First of all, thank you so much to the author for allowing me to eARC read for her! I cannot express my gratitude and appreciation for the opportunity. Now, onto my review.
I am not normally a sci-fi or fantasy reader, but something about this sucked me in. The otherworldly feel of the different places explained in this book was incredible, I was quite literally feeling all of the same emotions as Cece while reading.
I was thoroughly overwhelmed in the beginning, but then something took root and I was following along seamlessly, everything clicked into place. I loved the slow burn between Cece and Lucien, and I see the budding romance between Xan and Kate. 👀
Their story felt so pure and raw, like actual divine intervention. Oh, and the plot twists, my head is still reeling! I don’t even remember how many there were. I was fully aware that Daniel was SUSPISH, it just took me too long to figure out exactly how. And I’m still not ENTIRELY sure how he ties in, but I know it’s coming.
My favorite piece was learning that Cece and Xan are related. 🥹 I felt the hope of their conversation on the fire escape tugging at my heart. The one thing both of them have truly longed for their whole lives, and they finally have it in each other. 😭😭 Ugh, how dare you hurt me this way?

I absolutely love a good forbidden, star-crossed lovers story and this one delivered!! This was an interesting story with the warpers and moving between realms. The magic system was intricate and at times a little confusing for my brain. It was really well described but I just personally understand the sci-fi type stuff as well. I really enjoyed both Cece and Lucien. Xanther and Kate were great additions as well. I liked that the story moved at a pretty good pace yet it was easy to follow. It was engaging and held my interest all the way through.
I enjoyed Lucien's character. He definitely had the stoic broody thing down! I liked seeing him come out of his shell as the story progressed. He was adorable with how much he admired Cece and wanted to protect her.
Cece was a great character. She was thrown into an impossible situation and I think she handled it well. I liked that she followed her intuition and listened to her gut.
I loved Xanther!! He was so suave and a little bit cocky. He was hilarious and sweet too. He ended up being my favorite character actually. I'm excited to see where this story goes and how the magic will develop. It was a very interesting dynamic between the realms and I'm curious to see how many other unique things are out there. I would first like to thank Iris Gil and Kasey Zollo (Literally Yours PR) for the opportunity to receive an ARC of this book. I was very excited to read Torn Between Realms after coming across Iris on Insta. To start, there were a lot of things in this book that I loved, like NYC basically being a character in the story, Luc’s reaction to “human food” like cauliflower rice and bacon, Kate and Cece’s relationship, and Xan and Cece being (half??) siblings, to name a few. I can’t wait to see Xan and Cece’s relationship grow (and Cece/Luc, Xan/Kate).
The lore and history behind the Warpers and Surgers was super cool, but could have been expanded upon significantly. The book did cover an impressive amount of ground quickly, but by the end I still wasn’t 100% sold on Cece and Luc as a couple. They clearly care about each other, but the romance felt a bit rushed and there wasn’t enough there for me to be emotionally invested.
I really hope the next book is longer and more detailed, while keeping that fast-paced, urban/fantasy element! Like 90% of my gripes with this book could have been solved with another <100 pages. I am really looking forward to seeing how the story ends, and would love to read a prequel series about the Warpers and Surgers & Cece’s parents as well. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Cece tries to mind her own business, going to work and spending time with her best friend Kate. Until one night, something unexplainable happens. She is hit by a subway train...except she's not. She is transported to somewhere clearly not Earth by a man named Lucien. In being saved from death, something has awakened inside her that beings from both her realm and his are very interested in using for their own gain. Lucien will sacrifice everything he's ever known to protect her. But will it be enough?
This was such a good book! I liked that Cece didn't spend the whole time panicked about what was happening to her, but she was pretty well-balanced between freaked out and rolling with it, so the story kept moving forward. I loved her relationship with Lucien, and I also liked how the details about Lucien were unveiled throughout the story. I thought the premise was very clever. Though it is part of an incomplete duology, I don't feel like it ended on a cliffhanger. There are some loose ends, but I feel like the story ended in a good place. I didn't like how much new information was introduced at the end of the book. It felt just a little rushed. But overall, I would recommend this book to any reader who enjoys supporting debut romantasy/urban fantasy authors and likes the 'star-crossed lovers/forbidden lovers' trope.

We not only get close to the FMC & MMC but we get to see insights to their best friends, Kate & Xan giving found family vibes. I wouldn’t necessarily call it a slow burn because the tension is there. More of fated from the jump. Their relationship builds and builds into something unbreakable. It’s refreshing to watch this journey of Cece growing into her own powers especially when the world seems against them. My only wish is that we got a little more background on Luc and Cece before they meet just to see more into the worlds and lives of both characters prior to meeting. Overall, I ate this book up! Thank you for the e-arc of Torn Between Realms. After being pushed onto the train tracks in the subway, Ceces life changes. This is a fantasy romance. However, I feel as a science lover that there is a dash of science in the story and I love that. It is a unique and fresh story with worlds colliding and fabric of the realms tearing. We all love a MMC who breaks all the rules for the FMC and doesn’t hesitate when doing it. Sorry fate we have Lucien.. The Order in this book reminds me of the Time Lords in Doctor who and that is exactly how I pictured them in my head. Especially Aris. They seem superior and golden but then you get a look at what is behind that golden curtain. The FMC is an intelligent badass. This book has all the 🤌🏻 tropes with a dash of a fresh take with the science vibes. I had a good time.

Received this book as an ARC
I was excited about this book because many of the books I read mix fantasy (romantasy) and sci-fi. While this book is definitely that mix, I was a little distracted by the FMC and MMC's fast—almost instant - love. It could be me, maybe I am just so used to the painfully slow-slow burns. So please don't judge the book based on my reaction to the characters (I read books where the mmc is stalking the fmc and I consider that to be a green flag - but only in books haha)
I was hooked in the beginning because what do you mean the FMC was almost un-alived and the MMC saves her by warping her to another dimension. Personally, I would not have been as calm as Cece (haha). I love that Cece's best friend is supportive rather than judging her and writing her off as crazy. This book has some amazing side characters (besides our ride or die Kate) Xan has some great one liners. This book does have some surprising twists - looking forward to picking up book 2 - because I definitely have some questions
I was excited about this book because many of the books I read mix fantasy (romantasy) and sci-fi. While this book is definitely that mix, I was a little distracted by the FMC and MMC's fast—almost instant - love. It could be me, maybe I am just so used to the painfully slow-slow burns. So please don't judge the book based on my reaction to the characters (I read books where the mmc is stalking the fmc and I consider that to be a green flag - but only in books haha)
I was hooked in the beginning because what do you mean the FMC was almost un-alived and the MMC saves her by warping her to another dimension. Personally, I would not have been as calm as Cece (haha). I love that Cece's best friend is supportive rather than judging her and writing her off as crazy. This book has some amazing side characters (besides our ride or die Kate) Xan has some great one liners. This book does have some surprising twists - looking forward to picking up book 2 - because I definitely have some questions

This book started off so different from what I am used to reading but after getting through the first 50 pages I was hooked and did not want to put it down. This book will take you a journey to a different realm, The way the different realm is built makes you feel like this actually could be a real place and the "magic" could actually be real.
Cece is a very smart career driven person doing what she believe is the right moves for her. She does crack under person and remains strong even when she thinks she might break.
Luc is very stoic, seems more comfortable being on his own, and who could blame him when he is the most powerful person in his realm.
This story is full of twists and turns and plot twists that add even more dept and context to the story, making this a book that you will not want to put down. The book ends on a cliffhanger and I cannot wait for the next book to come out already!
