One misunderstood Alpha. One broken Omega. One heartbreaking bond.
Haunted by years of abuse at the hands of his psychotic brother, Evan finds himself at the bottom of the food chain as an Omega. Despite being given a fresh start in the sanctuary of a new pack, his past lingers no matter how many times he asks the Moon Goddess for guidance and forgiveness.
When Evan meets the new Alpha of Rainewood pack, rumoured to have the deadliest father known to their world, he wasn’t expecting the tall, lean, and heavily tattooed man to be his fated mate.
Caleb is cold, distant, and ruthless, leaving most wolves trembling in fear. But beneath Caleb’s hard exterior is a man fighting a war of his own, desperate to escape the shadow of the monster who raised him. His alleged reputation says one thing, but his heart says another, and yet, no one fully understands him.
Evan knows he’s no match for Caleb, but fighting their matebond feels impossible, even in a world where being together will cause more harm than good. Caleb knows he’s playing a dangerous game, but when it comes to his mate, it’s time to fight for what he truly wants.

I’m so disappointed with not liking this book as much as I wanted to. I was really looking forward to it with every sort of snippet I found of the book, but the book did not live up to what was advertised/what I was thinking it was going to be.
I’ll start with the positive points:
I liked the mental health aspect of this book a lot. Do I think sometimes it was a little preachy? Yes, I do. But overall, I do think there was a good conversation that was started at least, about being too reliant on your partner fixing your mental health. I enjoy that Evan recognized that he was becoming too dependent on Caleb and their relationship to make him happy and he had to figure out how to be happy himself. I like that even when they got together, he was still struggling with his mental health and he had good days and bad days and would take one step forward and two steps back.
It was very realistic, and I liked that the book was really showing that you can be in a healthy and happy relationship and your mental health isn’t suddenly going to be fixed. Just because you are loved by another person doesn’t mean that that is suddenly going to improve self-esteem, or get rid of any dark thoughts. And I really enjoyed that. This book was very much saying that you can be imperfect and be struggling and still be worthy of love. Caleb‘s constant support of Evan was very sweet, especially in contrast to how he was portrayed initially.
And for the most part, I liked Caleb and Evan. Do I wish they had been fleshed out a little bit more? Yes I do. But that’s a very big gripe of mine in this whole story that I’ll get to later. But for the two main characters, I thought they were nice enough guys, easy to follow, and their relationship was fairly sweet. Did it go borderline saccharine? Yes, it did, but I was mostly OK with that. I don’t believe that every couple has to have banter or a big spark between them. Sometimes it is very sweet to just read two people that love being around each other and are supportive and that’s what Evan and Caleb were.
I think out of the two of them, I found myself drawn to Evan more. I think Evan was a little more of an established character, and we got more of his journey than we did Caleb‘s, so it was more interesting to read about him. I like that his mental health was a struggle throughout the whole book. Reading his point of view could sometimes be frustrating because there was so much self-doubt and self hatred in it, but I liked that. It was realistic, and I enjoyed reading about a character who was growing into himself and learning who he was both in a loving relationship and outside of a loving relationship.
Now, onto the things I didn’t enjoy:
This book was just so surface level! I’m so sad because there were so many interesting angles this book could’ve given us and we could’ve gotten into the meat of so many issues, but the book just never went there.
First of all, this did not feel like a werewolf/shifter book. The supernatural/werewolf aspect of it felt very much so like an afterthought. I know that every shifter/werewolf universe is different, and every one has different rules, but this had so little of what makes a werewolf universe. Basically, this one had an alpha, a mate bond/kind of a pack bond, and the ability to turn into a werewolf… Sometimes.
There were no heightened senses, there was no alpha/beta/omega dynamics, there was no mpreg (which isn’t always needed, just an observation!), there wasn’t even a full moon run! This just kind of felt like a romance with people that could sometimes turn into werewolves. And maybe it’s not that big of a deal, but if I’m going in a story expecting werewolf dynamics, I wanna see it!
So, so many things were told and not shown. Especially when it came to Evan’s mental health journey. I want to see him getting close to the pack members instead of just being told about it. I want to see him developing his relationships with Ava and Kayleigh. I want to see him train with Caleb, not just be told that they are training and he’s slowly getting better. I want to see his therapy sessions instead of being told what’s happening in them, or getting a small scene with one conversation happening. I’m interested in these things, and I’m interested in Evan as a character, which is why I want to see these things be more full on than just a sentence explaining them away.
I also thought it would’ve been so interesting to see this guilt that Evan has with Ava and the other women that were captured by his brother be explored more, and it wasn’t. I thought it was so interesting when Evan had said that he feels guilt every time he looks at Ava and that’s why he needed to move away to Caleb‘s pack… But it was never really brought up again. That would’ve been so interesting to read!
And their romance kind of came out of nowhere. When they first meet, we have all of this animosity toward each other and they’re basically just fighting against the instincts of being fated mates. Which I loved by the way! I love anything to do with soulmate/fated mates and I love the concept of falling in love against instinct and falling in love with that person because they’re that person and not because they’re your fated mate. I love that! But we didn’t really get that here. They have a couple of interactions with each other that are mostly heated and kind of rude with each other, then I think they have one scene of vulnerability where Caleb is helping Evan make Daisy chains with some kiddos, and then they go to this party, and they become jealous of one another, and this big sort of confession happens.
And I was really confused by it, because they’re saying all of these super romantic things to each other that don’t go with how their relationship has been unfolding this entire time. Caleb‘s talking about how drawn he’s been to Evan and how he has to stay away from him and how he wants him and all he can think about is him and all this good stuff, when really the only link that they have to each other is the fated mate bond!
I think that sort of scene would’ve been more impactful Had they developed a friendship first, or at the very least started to like each other before we get this super dramatic/romantic scene of them saying that they can’t stay away from each other anymore. Because up until that point, they were still separated by packs, they weren’t seeing each other all that often, and when they were seeing each other, they were still very rude/distant/cold to one another. I think it would’ve been more impactful, if they were slowly starting to learn each other and fall for one another while trying to be friends and fighting that bond that they have to one another, before this whole party happens and they get jealous by seeing the other with another person.
Because once they give in to each other, they’re officially in a full-blown romantic relationship with each other and it’s just full steam ahead. And again, we’re getting told a lot of these moments that they’re having with each other and how Caleb is training Evan, but we don’t really see that. And they’re having these moments that we’re not privy to.
Also! The chapters absolutely kill me. First of all, there is no reason why this book needed 70+ chapters. Second, the way that these chapters were broken up actually made my eye twitch. Why are we ending one chapter and beginning a new chapter with the same POV character in the SAME conversation??? This happened multiple times: it’ll be a chapter in Evans point of view, he’ll be having a conversation with Caleb, and then the chapter will end. And then the very next chapter is in Evans point of view, having the same exact conversation with Caleb! There’s literally no reason to break the chapters up. I don’t know why the author did this. I’m not sure if it’s because the author wanted to keep the chapters all super short, which all of them were so so short, which kind of made the book itself feel very choppy. But it’s actually so infuriating to me. I cannot figure out why the author would choose to do this.
And speaking of chapters and length, this book simultaneously feels way too long and way too short. It’s about 470 pages where the main conflict a.k.a. Caleb‘s big bad dad was defeated by the 85% mark in the book, so the rest just feels like a weird decline in tension and plot. But at the same time, I feel like we didn’t really establish anything in those 73 chapters. Everything was so brushed over and explained to us with a lot of handholding, that I feel like we didn’t really get to see everything that I wanted to see. Again, I wish we had gotten more packed dynamics. I wish we had seen more developing friendships and more details of Evan and Caleb’s relationship and watching them fall in love with each other instead of just being told that they are. And also: what happened to Sam? That feels like a loose end that we never got solved and that’s gonna bother me now!
I think I’m so harsh with this book, because there was a lot of potential and I really really wanted to love this book. And like I said, there are things about it that I enjoyed, and I feel like the author was right there with a great book, but it fell so short and that’s why I’m so hard on this book because I really wanted it to go there and it never did.

Evan and Caleb 🥹😭. I love both of them and the journey’s these two go on together and individually, are freakin painful 😭😭
At the start neither really wants to accept that fate has chosen to bless them as each other’s mates. They fight it neither wanting to let the other in to see what they’re dealing with. 🥺
Evan. 😖🥺. Oof, what a freakin character. I’ve never fallen so quickly into protective mode reading from a characters perspective.
But with him it was instant. I haven’t read the previous two books. I feel like maybe if I had, some of the things mentioned at the start would have made a little more sense.
The way he struggles not only at the start but throughout this story. Broke my heart in so many ways. I’m honestly surprised it’s still beating after this read. 🥺
It’s unheard of for a book to have me full on sobbing but this one did it to me. 😭😭😭
The way Caleb was around him as the story progressed was beautiful to watch. He became the lighthouse Evan needed. Helping him fight against the darkness that came from his mental health.
Caleb is a strong and an almost intimidating person. At moments it’s even shown how intimidating some shifters think he is because of his reputation and his father’s.
With Evan although he’s still intimidating, he’s also able to let a part of himself out that he can’t around, even his friends.
Even as they fight against their ever growing bond. Caleb never intentionally hurt him. Even when he started to push him away to protect him from his power obsessed father.
That man 😤😤😤🤬🤬🤬. There isn’t enough words in the dictionary to describe the intense hatred I have for him 🤬🤬🤬
He was an amazing villain. One I wouldn’t tire from watching get his karma thrown on him a hundred times over 😤😤😤
This story was emotionally intense and will have you staring at the wall in some parts, screaming at others, laughing at some and sobbing throughout.
I loved this book. It was very real and raw with its emotions and the characters felt real. The story was a little choppy in the beginning but worked itself out. I enjoyed the magic elements in the story and thought they fit very well. Overall I gave this a 4 star rating ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Did I find this book based on a reel teasing a micro trope* I adore and rarely see in books? Yes. ✅️
Did this deliver so much emotion and heartache? To my surprise, yes. ✅️
An MM wolf shifter romance with fated mates who are both broken in their own way but fight to heal and have the life they deserve.
Evan's fight with his mental health had me tearing up at multiple points - boy has been through it 😭 The way Caleb showed up for Evan and supported him even when it would be hard, really spoke volumes to Caleb's character.
I have been in a reading slump for almost a week now, but this book took me out of it.
ARC review This review is 100% my own thoughts and feelings and is not impacted by the author at all, thank you to the author for this free ARC.
PLEASE CHECK YOUR TRIGGERS… MENTAL HEALTH MATTERS… There is a extensive list at the bottom on this review but please be aware there could be others
Evan is our omega MMC who has been beat and broken by his psychotic brother, which has of course left a lot of deep rooted trauma. But with some love and attention he re wires his brain one affirmation at a time.
Caleb is our alpha MMC who is so misunderstood and has had a bad past due to his crazy father who is trying to force him to have an heir. But that’s not going to happen when he finds his mate in Evan.
These 2 definitely go through plenty of trails to be together. From crazy kidnapping fathers, to mental health issues. Helping to improve one another and give each other the best life they can one day at a time.

I totally devoured this book in 24 hours, it had me totally gripped. Who doesn’t love a fated mates story. There is a good amount of spice but it definitely doesn’t take away from the plot.

Thank you so much Savanna Rose for the amazing opportunity to read The Alpha’s Getaway as an ARC!
I was so excited to read this one after having already delved into the other books in this series. This one finished the series so perfectly. I am still new to MM romances and trying to broaden out more, I adored Caleb and Evan’s story and their overall dynamics.
Both our main characters have hard upbringings and demons they’re going through the process of fighting and moving on from within themselves. Caleb is a tough alpha character who doesn’t outwardly show weakness but when it comes to Evan, his mate, seeing those walls come down and slowly open up his feelings is the best. Evan is more cautious and still learning and understanding the strength he actually holds although he doesn’t initially know his own self worth to believe this in himself.
The growth in the journey they go on is perfect and so beautiful. They bring out the best in each other and really help each other in the way they need and crave most.
I loved reading about the side characters, new and old, in Evan and Caleb’s book. The found family aspect was everything and helped enhance and show how strong friendship is.
This series I think is such a great introduction for anyone wanting to delve into paranormal romances. Savanna’s writing has so much depth and emotions she’s able to evoke with her plot and characters alike.
Please be sure to read the trigger warnings before making the decision of starting this one.
This was my most anticipated book of the (start of the) year. I was so hyped up from all the authors awesome teaser posts, quotes, and beautifully commissioned art, that I found myself a little disappointed by the actual content and writing of the story.
The Alpha’s Getaway is very quick and easy to read, mostly because it's written in a very Wattpad-esque style. That is to say, it was very much like an unpolished fanfiction. The main reason I feel like that is because the language in this book is bizarre. Some of the word choices are so odd that it literally jolted me out of the scene and I’d have to re-read the last sentence to try and make sense of it. It flip flops between word choices that don’t fit the context, and soft-blow therapy speech, on almost every page. Neither character can have an interaction with anyone else without there being some kind of lesson or unsolicited wisdom imparted.
Now, don't get me wrong, I really liked Evan and the healing journey he was trying to embark on, but I feel like some of the “you’re a good person, you deserve love” conversations needed to have been had at more meaningful moments. It was nice to see how much his friends cared for him, and I know the therapy speech was supposed to help Evan on his journey to self-love (or at the very least, squash the internalised hatred), but it got to the point where I was starting to get annoyed because he couldn’t just hang out with his friends without having to dissect his self worth.
And yeah, his self worth plays a huuuuuge part in the book - what with him suffering from depression and fairly severe PTSD to the point where he's self harming (on page; check the triggers). Evan's PTSD and trauma are deeply rooted in memories from the events of Second Chance Mates, book three in the Fates Souls series and Eva's novel - so if you haven't read that then Evan's suffering probably wouldn't quite pack the punch it's supposed to. I am very glad I had read it and could reconcile the horrific events of book one, with book three's healing process for Evan's part in those events. Evan is genuinely the sweetest character in the whole series and it was so good to see him actively working through his trauma and subsequent mental health issues on his own and with Caleb's help. It really made me like Caleb more than I did at the start of the story because he was a right c***head to Evan then.
And Caleb... well, it took me a long time to warm up to him. There really wasn't anything remotely likeable about him for me until he started taking care of Evan. I just... I get it, you're dad is a huge d*** and you've got to protect everyone you love, but my god you don't have to be such a cold arsehole towards everyone - especially your fated mate. Your dad already thinks you're soft and sees your pack as a target because they're with you, being nice every now and again wouldn't have killed him. Maybe make some more daisy chains with the kids or something. I also didn't get why Caleb smelled like Gasoline?? He's a shifter, wouldn't he smell like dog or wet earth or pine needles or something? Anyway, not the point.
I was kind of glad to get to the big fight scene with Ryker because it meant I was on the home stretch and the end was nigh. Alas, the end was not nigh. At least the last 20-ish% of the book was more domestic and sweet without the looming threat of Caleb's dad hanging over them a glass chandelier on its last legs. I was hoping there'd be a bit more character development after the conflict was resolved, but we didn't really get anything more. Just spice.
And look, there is depth to the characters but not a whole lot of growth, really. I found myself getting frustrated because there were so many moments when Evan or Caleb could have used a particular scenario to learn and grow, but instead it was forgotten about or brushed off in favour of the next scene or argument. In conversations they will make great emotional progress in one sentence (eg. agreeing to work on their relationship) and literally two lines later have done a complete 180 and are arguing about the very thing they just resolved. For example they agree that they can’t be seen together, Evan goes on about how he loves that no one knows about them, and then next minute he’s turned around and had a go at Caleb because they can’t be seen together. I was getting whiplash and it felt like hundreds of scenes and conversations had been written separately and spliced together haphazardly.
But my biggest peeve of all with this book was that it was barely a wolf-shifter book at all. Where was all the wolf shifting? I was so looking forward to seeing sweet Evan and protective Caleb as wolves, and there was hardly anything like that at all. Where were the wolf shifter instincts? Hunting? Anything? I'm just so disappointed by that. And don't get me wrong, you can have shifter universes with hardly any shifting, but usually the other senses and instincts are heightened. I wanted more of that, rather than the mental imessaging.
I feel so sad that my most anticipated read of the year so far wasn't what I was expecting at all. I wish so much more had been developed and explored, and I wish the formatting and language oddities had been checked by editors or beta's before they went out. I also feel terrible that I had hardly anything nice to say, but I'm just so let down.

“Your scent is everywhere,” I grit through my teeth. “In my f*cking soul, and it’s destroying me.”
This book has been calling my name, just with the tropes. But I did not expect it to wreck my heart the way it did. From page one, Evan and Caleb had me feeling everything from heartbreak to pain to sadness. Like I knew I was going to get a happy ending, but for the first thirty percent or so, it was just ruination all the way.
"Everything around us starts to quieten, and time slows to the point I know nothing but him. The man who has helped guide me back to life. A life I didn’t know was worth sticking around for."
But then we started getting glimpses of hope and joy, and the love? It was just bursting from the pages. Evan and Caleb may have had a rough start, but once they give into those feelings, it made all those hard emotions worth it. They're opposites in so many ways, but the way they put each other first and constantly made space for the others well-being, even if it's a detriment to their own, just showed exactly why fate paired them up. But just when things feel like the worst is over, the big bad returns and turns everything upside down.
“You see me, and that’s all I’ve wanted. And I had to get you back because I can’t do life without you when I know what it’s like to exist with you.”
This book is a whirlwind of a ride. It made me feel such a wide range of emotions and I loved it all. It does plateau a bit in the middle, but it picks back up pretty well. One of my favorite things, was Evan's mental health journey. It always makes me happy when love isn't used a cure-all, and characters get the proper help they need and deserve. Evan is a caretaker at heart and just pure sunshine, but he's been through some horrible things that stifles all of that. To see him build himself back up, brick by brick, was real and raw. It made me cry multiple times, but to see him find himself and his own self-worth the way he did was really beautiful.
“You are my getaway, my life, my everything. I’d be nothing without you,” I rasp. “I’ve dreamed of this life since I can remember. Always fearful I’d never be able to experience it. But I’m not letting this go. You’re stuck with me.”
The way these two support and love each other is so pure and magical. They both have such harrowing pasts, but to see them move forward into a life of light and joy made me incredibly happy. This book is intense and emotional. It made me laugh and cry and left me feeling an abundance of joy. Though it's part of a series, it can be read as a standalone. So, if you're like me and you love wolf shifters and fated mates, just dive right into this wonderful book!
Started this book hell bent on enjoying it. I wasn’t going to give up without a fight, but the book fought back 😂.
The dialogue: "What's your name?" he asks gruffly. I open my mouth but nothing comes out. His EYES grow heavier👁️👁️. "I asked for your name." "E-Evan," I murmur eventually. "Evan what?" "Evan Wolfe." His expression twists as if what I said is amusing, then he releases a cold laugh. "Wolfe?" he repeats. "Puppy, more like." "Don't call me that," I snap. "You don't like that, pup?" "I am not a puppy," I say through gritted teeth.
The descriptions: "Tattoos litter his beige skin right down to his fingers, and then I look up to find them dancing over the entirety of his neck." "Caleb's jaw crunches as I speak."
After releasing some cold laughs of my own, I danced away from this book. This would have been okay if it were a free Wattpad story, but selling this as a finished product is wild.
I loved this book! Evan’s journey with his mental health was written beautifully and very realistically, and it was one of my favorite parts of this story. Healing is not linear, and that is something that plays a heavy role in Evan’s story. I also really enjoyed Caleb’s journey with accepting his emotions, but also how his relationship with Evan and his struggles was portrayed as something Caleb needed to fix, but something that he could help Evan with. He never tried to make Evan change for himself, but for Evan’s own personal benefit. Even when it got hard and they had to be apart, Caleb was always putting Evan’s mental health and healing first. Overall, this was a wonderful book about finding love in the darkness and how you can always find your inner strength.
This was a good read! I always enjoy seeing the different politics and interworking of a pack and I really liked seeing the similarities and differences between Jaxon and Caleb’s pack regarding dynamics as well as how they were as Alphas.
It was sad to see the aftermath of Evan’s past and the struggles Caleb had to deal with when it came to his dad but it was nice to see these two come together and be so supportive of one another.
I appreciated that both of them decided they needed additional resources to help them deal with their experiences and it was great seeing them take the necessary steps. The side characters were great (mostly) and I’m glad I picked this up!
Well, this was nothing like I expected it to be - porn with plot, but turns out it's a deep story about survival, family and mental health. Oh, and wolf shifters. It was quite stressful, like when I was reading it I sort of felt like I was holding my breath. Honestly, I have one and a half complaints: 0.5) there's one trigger warning missing, at least for me it's missing. Most people probably don't consider it a trigger warning, but it's the only one I actually pay attention to, so I feel like it should've been added. I'm not gonna name it, because spoilers, but still 1) I didn't fully like how the mental issues were resolved at the end. This is very much connected to the missing trigger warning, but I know it just doesn't work like that, so yeah
I jumped into this series on the third and final book and it was easy to follow along and I enjoyed it. Caleb is an Alpha, while Evan is an omega with a lot of past trauma, although Caleb isn't trauma free as we get to know him. I really enjoyed the mental health rep throughout and how it's not an easy fix. This part was done well and it was very realistic while also giving you hope about the future. Evan and Caleb's story was action packed but it also focused enough on their relationship as well. This is quite an emotional book as well. You can't help but to feel for Evan and all he's gone and currently going through. I had tears in my eyes a couple of times while reading this. I really enjoyed the caretaking in this and the possessive vibes were really good. I loved how soft Caleb was for Evan and how both of them wanted to better themselves so their relationship would be better and healthier.
I enjoyed this, and honestly I just kept reading and reading to see what will happen next and how they'll overcome the threat of Caleb's father.
Absolutely devoured this! first werewolf romance and honestly I really loved it! Evan deserves the world!! Caleb also deserves all the nice things! and they are so good together I cryyyy <3!! ;w;
Unfortunately i was lured in by snippets from TikTok. Characters are potentially complex and plot is there but this book needs a lot of editing and refinement. Caleb’s skin is beige? What? Desperately looking for a more developed, maybe even mature, vocabulary.
All the makings of a fun, action packed shifter romance with no follow through.
This book was fine! It was fast-paced and easy to read but the development of the characters, plot, and world left me wanting so much more. There was so much potential!
I love a fated mates trope, especially when the two mcs fight against it and want to be loved for who they are not because it’s fated. But there was barely any friendship/relationship development between these two disliking each other and then jumping each other. All this supposed buildup to immediate emotional declarations felt jarring. There was some chemistry but overall hard to believe in this couple.
Paired with a plot that didn’t really know what it was doing or where it was going. The pacing was off for this high stakes plot.
And I wouldn’t exactly call it omegaverse when it’s barely even shifter. I know there are a variety of ways authors can write OV but usually there’s some world building around it, typical traits or tropes. This had none of that. It’s a secondary gender (I think) with no explanation on what it means. And while they do shift, it’s really minimal and doesn’t affect the plot or character development.
I love it when you dive into a book expecting nothing major for that book to blow your mind and become a favorite.
This was my first paranormal wolf shifter romance. I was intrigued because the characters' art kept showing up on my feed, which are amazing arts btw. So, I went in expecting that I wouldn't be so into it.. What I didn’t expect though is for me to be swooning, grinning like an idiot, blushing, and crying. Yes, I had tears running down my cheeks🥺.
Where do I begin to describe how much I loved this book.
So we have Evan (20) who is an Omega with past trauma. He feels broken and is struggling. Even within his pack, he doesn’t feel like he belongs. He is on the tiny side, not physically strong, and does not heal as fast as the others. Then we have Caleb (27), the Alpha (with tattoos all over his body, 2 piercings in his nose, pierced nipples and pierced 🍆) Caleb is judged because of his father who is controlling. He is tasked to lead the second pack which interacts with Evan’s pack. Evan and Caleb cross paths and they find out they are destined mates. Caleb doesn't want anything to do with Evan and he acts in an assholish way trying to push him away. But not everything is like what it seems. Caleb’s dad is controlling evil who wants Caleb to give him an heir. So, Caleb has perfected over the years to mask his emotions. But believe me, Caleb was very much aware of Evan😉. “Your scent is everywhere… In my fucking soul, and it’s destroying me.”
Their journey to be together is not easy but their love is definitely stronger.
Caleb & Evan chemistry was off the charts❤️🔥. I loved every second of them; I loved how their relationship progressed, the way they supported each other, and their love. God, their unwavering love and deep soul connection. I loved their small moments, like how they would touch foreheads, kiss on the nose or cheek, or the art therapy scene. I loved how although they found the other to be very hot and attractive but it never felt like lust between them. And you know how Caleb is an asshole at the beginning for obvious reasons, but God once he can’t resist his feelings anymore, he goes super protective over Evan. The way he loves Evan and cares for him, the way he made Evan feel seen and whole. Caleb spent his time being Evan’s anchor and showing him that he is strong and alive. Caleb always made Evan’s mental health and struggles a priority. Evan was his everything🥹
“You see me, and that’s all I’ve wanted. And I had to get you back because I can’t do life without you when I know what it’s like to exist with you.”
“You are my getaway, my life, my everything. I’d be nothing without you” “I’ve dreamed of this life since I can remember. Always fearful I’d never be able to experience it. But I’m not letting this go. You’re stuck with me.”
I loved the spice in this book; and for a book this long, you would expect it to be full of spicy scenes. But there wasn't an excessive amount of them; they were perfectly placed and spaced out. They were not just space filler; they actually added to their relationship and deepened their connection. The spicy scenes were spicy but intimate at same time, and let me tell you that our Alpha Caleb sure has a dirty mouth on him🥵, but again it wasn’t too much or off putting. Nothing felt over the top or forced. I actually wanted more spice🫣 and that’s how I knew that the spice felt natural and integral to the story. There were also scenes that were so hot like when our alpha dropped to his knees and kissed across Evan’s stomach, their spicy time while apart but with them using the midlink 🥵🫠 or the scene where Evan is painting Caleb tattoos🤭.
I really liked the plot. It was interesting and kept me hooked. I hated Caleb’s father with intensity. I loved the part with Caleb’s powers. There is a breakup and a separation period but for a good reason. I may or may not have cried during those scenes or during their reunion scene💔😭.
I also want to talk about “Maturity” in this book which I’m very thankful for. Evan suffered in the past and he is “broken” from his past trauma and tends to self harm. When Caleb finds out, he doesn’t use his Alpha 🍆 to heal Evan but actually encourages him to seek therapy, which Evan does with no complaint. Also, this book acknowledges that therapy doesn't work overnight; it actually takes time. And the cherry on top, is Evan deciding to go to a mental health facility because and I quote “I think I could really benefit from. I want to come out of this with a new way of thinking…It’s not healthy to rely on our relationship.” Even Caleb starts therapy after everything he goes through. I just love it when I read about MMCs who are mature to know what’s best for them.
No OP scenes on page. Evan has not been with anyone and it is mentioned that Caleb has been with few men when he was younger figuring out his sexuality, and he hasn’t been with anyone for a while before Evan. There are some mild jealousy scenes, which are very worth it🤭. During a party, Caleb is approached by a woman his father is trying to set him up with and he gives her a kiss on the cheek at his father’s request, although he doesn’t want anything to do with her. And Evan is approached by a waiter who flirts with him but Evan doesn’t reciprocate and they just have friendly talk, until Alpha Caleb shows up and claims Evan😉. “You have about five seconds to move away from him before I beat your face into the ground.” Jealous Caleb is everything😂
This book was so much more than I was expecting, and I demolished it. It pulled me in and didn’t let me go for a second.
Oh Evan *sob* he’s such a sweet precious thing! My heart split wide open for him for everything he’s been through. He’s in such a bad place, haunted by a cruel past that was dictated by his brother, and he’s drowning in his trauma. I was in tears so often for him. It’s so obvious how well loved Evan is, and he's got a mental strength and courage I admired, but he only sees himself as broken and a burden to others.
Caleb is so much more than the person he portrays to the world: an aloof, cold, unapproachable alpha. Behind the mask though, he'd go to the end of the world for Evan. He's a fair and just alpha who wants the best for his pack and will protect them in any way he can, but he's also longing to be loved.
While he tries to stay away from his mate, Caleb can’t help gravitating towards Evan who possesses a special quality to him even when he’s at his lowest.
For a while they seem to take one step forward then two steps back repeatedly as Caleb tries to do everything to put distance between them even as Evan tries to build a connection. It’s not an easy path and they really had to fight for their HEA but it’s so deserved when they get there. When they're together properly, they are irrevocably there for each other, no matter what.
I especially loved how Caleb gets Evan to make positive comments about himself, and how he respects Evan’s decisions when he's not ready to talk about something. Caleb's biggest priority is to keep Evan safe and healthy, even while struggling with his father's expectations.
I thought Ryker was such a formidable villain. To me he felt evil and a bit creepy even though I didn’t know the full scale of his powers (FYI this is the first book I've read from this author so I don't know if he's made appearances in other books). I swear I could feel him lurking in the background, biding his time.
I also have to mention that banana scene, which had me cackling.
This story is fast paced and flows seamlessly from one chapter to the next. I loved how there's always something going on; there was never a dull moment. I also loved that the author wrapped things up so nicely at the end, making sure these two get the ending they fought for.
This is one of those book you think “they're only short, I'll just read one more chapter," and then you’re up in the early hours of the morning glued to the page. This book drew all the emotions out of me, and ensured that Caleb and Evan have firmly implanted on my heart.

I discovered art for this book on Instagram a few weeks back and was totally intrigued. I finally decided to read it and I really enjoyed it. It's a story about growth, love, recovery and self love. The story was way darker and more traumatic than I thought though.
It started truly awful. I don't even know how often I cried while reading this book. I probably cried 5 times just in the first hundred pages. It was so fucking awful how everybody treated Evan, especially Caleb. There are reluctant mates and there are borderline abusive mates. Okay sure he wasn't bad for long but when he was bad, he was BAD. I hated him and I'm surprised by how much I liked him at the end. At first I thought Evan deserves to go away, maybe move to a tropical island and find a nice sexy surfer dude, idk. Even though I hate other people drama, I kinda enjoyed it here. It changed things for the better. Though to be honest Caleb's 180 felt not real, it was like a switch went off and he was a totally different person.
Evan (20) was such a sweetie pie, he broke my heart several times. You can really see how he blossoms throughout the book. I think his mental health journey is portrait very well. Caleb (27) like i said went from asshole to sweetheart.
I don't love their age gap and basically every time Caleb called Evan pup made my eye twitch. One thing that still baffled me was Caleb's smell. Berries and gasoline???!???!! Gasoline???!!!??! Does gasoline smell good when you walk trough a gas station? Sure! But do you want to smell it all the time? In your blankets, on clothes, in rooms? It's giving my strange addiction. At one point I even clicked on the translate function on my kindle to see if it really means, what I think it means. Gasoline wtf.
I liked the pacing of this book. The chapters were pretty short and went by quickly. I guess that's the theme for this book. It went by quickly. I didn't want to put it away, the story really captivated me. Though to be frank, I was glad when the book was over. I didn't like the sex scenes that much, they were very whatever to me. Maybe because they were always very similar or because they usually lasted two chapters. Props for the mind link sex, it was like phone sex but extra fun. I also didn't love the first epilogue, I guess I would have, if I read the first two books, oh well. The second epilogue was *chefs kiss.
I wish we got more world building but maybe the author did it in the first two books. I was very confused about the whole Alpha/ Omega thing. Are these titles, like job titles? Something you've been born with? How strong you are? Can everybody become an Alpha? What does Caleb even do for work? Do all humans know about them? Just so many questions. I didn't like either pack, I guess there were some nice women but the men, meh. The way the author portrait the packs made me dislike them even more. I personally love it when a pack feels like family, here they felt like a company with living quarters for their employees and families.
Caleb's dad was truly awful and I even liked the conflict but it confused me. Why didn't he just shoot his dad when he came to visit him? Why this elaborate plan? I guess the book would have been way shorter if he just shot him but still it made me feel as if the most obvious solution was right in front of their faces.
I'm glad there wasn't a breakup but it felt like it. They were seperated way to much and for too long for my liking. I could have done without the last, idk, 15-20%. Nonetheless I really enjoyed the book and I'm glad that I read it!
Let’s hear it for the random, reading it because I saw the cover and wound up enjoying it PNR romance! This is book 3 of a series; I did not read 1 or 2 and was never confused (they are MF).
I’ve never heard of this author and picked this up, as I said, at random, started reading and…never stopped. It’s uneven and a bit whiplashy in the middle, with MC formerly horrifically abused omega Evan kind of ping ponging in his emotions, but, so much entertainment when Caleb, the huge tough alpha with the bad reputation (because of his own horrific abusive father, Ryker), takes over the neighboring pack and their eyes meet and…
Yep. You guessed it.
FATED MATES.
My favorite! Loved that so much. Evan is by far the weakest of the pack, and whatever he went through in the past (I believe it’s laid out more in the first two books) has stopped his natural wolf-shifter healing abilities from working, and his confidence is nil. He heals slowly like us poor mortal humans.
Caleb is the strongest, most determined alpha around, and he needs to win over this new pack and blend it with his own, and eventually train them all for defense to hopefully take on his father and end the man once and for all. But dear old daddy has telekinetic and mind control powers, and it ain’t gonna be easy.
Now Caleb is mated to…and vulnerable because of…the physically weakest wolf around. Staying away is the only way to really protect Evan.
Yeah, you know how long that lasts! Not very.
They’re so angsty and snappish at first, with Evan assuming rejection, and Caleb trying to be unappealing, and then…well. Caleb’s father steps in at a huge event with OW nonsense, Evan starts talking with a man who’s flirting…
Game over for these two. No more denial! Whoosh. HOT. 🥵🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
The story delves a lot into Evan’s trauma, he’s a self-harmer, believes he’s worthless for not stepping up to help other people/prisoners in his former abusive situation sooner, and he has a lot to work through. The book never shies away from it, there’s no magical fix, not even with his fated mate’s influence, and I appreciated seeing the real work put in to help him. He does the work.
But Caleb’s father is constantly putting pressure on everything, and with betrayal and confrontations, extreme violence and more imprisonments in the mix, it’s a rough journey for our two lovers.
I enjoyed (or thoroughly raged!) every page, even the wonky flip-floppy feeling stuff. What a nice surprise to find a new author! Not sure she does MM often, but, I’ll keep an eye out.
HEA. Fated mates, wolf shifters. Pack, alpha-omega (NO Mpreg, this is not omegaverse, no slick etc) relationship. Suspense, high danger, betrayals. Violence. Additional PNR element for mental powers, and witches are mentioned but never on page. OW/OM drama, uninvited, shut down hard. No OP action at all, these two are IT for each other. Totally safe for me. Recommended.

AUTHOR'S BLURB One misunderstood Alpha.
MY THOUGHTS This is a new-to-me author, and I wasn't sure what to expect by jumping into an existing series where the first two books were MF. I never once felt lost in the story, and I really enjoyed this book! Honestly, outer appearance aside, both MCs are complete sweethearts. Both have past trauma weighing them down, and the author does a great job writing them with empathy and care. They're both flawed characters as well, which the author doesn't shy away from, which I like in my MCs. I don't want picture-perfect, cookie-cutter characters; I want people who screw up and make mistakes and grow from it. Everyone stumbles around when they're falling in love, and I like books that show that as well. The MCs are adorably spicy together, too, with lovely on-page chemistry.
BOTTOM LINE I can't speak to the first two books in the series, but I'd give this a read for sure. And if you're also a fan of MF, hopefully you'll give the whole series a chance.

Thanks to Savanna Rose for an eARC of this book. All opinions are mine. Reviews posted regularly on StoryGraph, Goodreads, Amazon, Instagram, BlueSky, BookBub, and Fable.
I am deep in my MM Romance era and honestly? The Alpha’s Getaway hit every single one of my emotional pressure points in the best possible way. The yearning, the healing, the tension, the angst — I went on a full rollercoaster and loved every second of the ride.
I adored Bonding with the Beta, so returning to Savanna Rose’s paranormal world felt like stepping back into a place that’s equal parts magical and dangerous. And from page one, my heart was already aching for darling Evan. This poor man has endured so much — physically, mentally, spiritually — and the scars left by his brother’s abuse run painfully deep. He’s trying to survive in a pack that barely tolerates him, carrying guilt that was never his to bear, and I just wanted to wrap him in a blanket and tell him he deserved softness.
Then enters Caleb. Rock‑hard armour, deep wounds of his own, and anxiety simmering under every breath. The pressure he’s under from his father — who is, frankly, unhinged and overdue for karmic consequences — is suffocating. On paper, Evan and Caleb should never work. They’re oil and fire. But the Moon Goddess has other plans, and when she binds them as fated mates… oh, the chaos.
What begins as loathing and reluctant proximity slowly, beautifully shifts into something softer. Protective. Tender. Earned. It takes time — and thank goodness it does — because watching these two men, both starved for affection and safety, slowly find comfort in each other was everything. Underneath all the anguish and self‑loathing, they recognise a kindred spirit. A safe place. A chance to be honest and unguarded for the first time in years. And Savanna never treats their bond like a magic fix. The healing is messy, painful, and so real that I genuinely teared up more than once.
I also have to shout out Zara, Ava, and Kayleigh — the warm, fierce, loyal trio who hold Evan up when he can’t stand on his own. Their love for him radiates off the page. They’re the kind of friends who make you believe in found family, and I wanted to gather them all into one giant group hug.
And the suspense? The threat of Ryker’s power and malice kept me on edge. Just when I thought he couldn’t get any worse, he did — and I was thrilled when karma finally came knocking.
Overall, this was a fantastic, emotional, magical finale to a world I’ve loved exploring. It’s intense, tender, and full of heart. Evan and Caleb’s journey is one of pain, resilience, and the slow, steady discovery that they are worthy of love — and worthy of each other.
Here's "The Alpha's Getaway" by Savanna Rose. It's the third novel in the Fated Souls series.

Oh did these two make me cry. It was a constant hurt/comfort. One angle, another angle, yet another angle. All kinds of hurt, from all kinds of sides, all of me crying.
They were adorable as hell! So much fluff and so much steam, in between all of the hurt/comfort. They were so devoted to each other (and to themselves--so much personal, mental health rep in here). They wanted what was best, even if best wasn't easy, even if best looks a lot like self-sacrifice.
Through soooo many trials and tribulations (soooooo many), they found their way back to each other (again and again). It was filled with strength and resilience and bravery and love.
Trigger Warnings: attempted suicide on-page and suicidal thoughts, mention of self-harm and on-page self-harm, mention of sexual abuse and MC forced to partake (not descriptive), physical and emotional abuse from family members, descriptions of violence and gore, captivity, anxiety, depression, PTSD, nightmares, misogyny, homophobia, and more.
I think I need to lie down for a second... this book made me go through all the emotions possible and I feel like I need to catch my breath now that it's over, which, btw... RUDE. How dare you be over?
At this point I know I repeat this in almost all my reviews, but in my defense, I do believe that, this is romance, and all that. With that being said, Caleb and Evan are perfect for each other. They were made for each other, and this being a fated mates situation ( my fav trope of all time, thank you very much ) well, it is true. They have the mating bond and all to prove it.
But seriously, they really are exactly what each other needed. They're two broken souls who dreamed about their own person for so long they didn't think this was in the cards for them. Or, if we are completely honest, they didn't think they deserve.
As I said earlier, this book made me go through all the emotions known to men, and I didn't expect that. The mental health aspect of this book is so well written, the emotions are so raw, it makes you feel vulnerable while you read about them. It makes you think, it makes you feel things.
There are so many things happening in this book, and you feel overwhelmed sometimes. I know this might sound strange, but it seriously makes you feel like you are in the story, with the characters. This makes you feel what they feel.
I won't talk about the plot because that's for you to discover, but trust me when I say you want to give this one a go. I hope this book will get the love it deserves because Caleb and Evan are so precious everyone needs to get to know them.
There are spicy parts in the book, but they are well placed and I feel like they just help the story, make the characters feel more real, it isn't just thrown in there.
If you want a book that will put your emotions to the test, then The Alpha's Getaway is for you. It is real, well, as real as it can be given they're werewolves, but you will see. I love how the author did not choose the easy way out and went through all the hoops to give these two their HEA. Oh, and trust me, THIS IS A HEART FOUGHT HEA... A very hard fought one, but OH, SO WORTH IT.
Intro: This book is an MM shifter romance between Evan, a struggling Omega and Caleb, a pack Alpha and Evan's mate
Tropes/Highlights: -Dual POV -MM -Fated Mates -Forced Proximity -Alpha/Omega -Mental Health Rep -Hurt/Comfort -Kinda Enemies to Lovers -HEA
Likes: -Character descriptions -Tattoos/nose ring -Imperfect MCs fit so well together -How Caleb takes care of Evan, even when it gets dark -Spicy scenes, Caleb making Evan say nice things about himself was chef's kiss -Art hobby -Developed explanations of mental health issues/treatments -Caleb's morals
Neutrals/Criticisms: -Grammar/word choices took me out of the story, like "quieten" instead of quieted -A lot of the book was being told to me/hand holding -Some outcomes were very predictable -Didn't love the first epilogue, I'd have liked it to focus on the MCs more, but the second one was cute
Quotes: -"My pain hurts, but his is excruciating" -"It's everything I didn't know I needed–to just fucking hold him" -"I believe a problem shared is a problem halved" -"Healing is a journey, not a race" -"Give it to me. Give me all your pain. I can take it, okay? Let it out" -"You will always find home in me"
This is the first book I have read from this author and I loved the characters, but I don't love the writing style. This is still a good book and I think those new to shifter romances will like it. You should start with the first two books to get a better sense of the story, but I read this as a standalone. I really enjoyed the MCs. Caleb was incredibly sweet to Evan and tried to help him any way he could, while also being a leader with pack duties. Evan was struggling so much, but he was a really sweet/lovable character and I enjoyed his healing journey once he sought help. You may like this book if you are looking for a tattooed alpha who will do whatever it takes to keep his mate safe, even if that means pushing him away and a sweet, but mentally struggling omega who is still working through trauma.

omg i loved this book! The Alphas Getaway is the 3rd book in the Fated Souls series where we follow our first MMC Evan as he tries to find his place in his new pack and our second MMC Caleb as he steps up to run a new pack and tries to gain their trust. We watch through their eyes as fate pushes them together but when their love becomes dangerous we watch as they fight, heal and find each other.
Oh I loved these two! I loved watching them together, seeing their separate journeys but also watching them heal. Both these characters are such complex and deep feeling characters and are both honestly so inspiring! Watching Evan find his way and healing after struggling for so long was so inspiring! I really loved watching his journey because of how real and raw it was! I also really loved watching Caleb’s journey! Watching him fight to protect his people and the people he loves was just so amazing! Ugh and then them together was just pure magic! I am obsessed with them!
Oh savanna steals my heart with her writing again! This book was such a blast! It been so long since I’ve read a shifter romance so I’m honestly so glad it was this one because it reminded me why I love this trope so damn much! Savanna does an amazing job tying everything together to make the story cohesive so it’s such a good read! She also does an amazing job putting you in the story directly, the way my heart was melting but also pounding out of my chest half the time was honestly crazy but in a good way!! I can’t wait to read more by savanna in the future because I know I won’t be disappointed!
Overall, such an amazing and fun read! I’d like to thank Savanna Rose for the amazing ARC! Looking forward to reading more from her in the future!! 🔪💜🌕
