Sally is Psychic. Kind of. She can see the future. Well…some of it.
When Sally shakes hands with another person, she can see the parts of her future they’re included in, for better or for worse. And while her unique ability has helped her overcome a lifetime of disappointment, it hasn't done her any favors in the romance department.
Until she meets Dave, and sees a vision that includes passion, matrimony, and longevity—all the missing ingredients for her own personal happily ever after.
The happily ever after isn't an instant thing, and getting there comes with hurdles Sally didn’t foresee. Like Dave’s clingy ex-girlfriend, and his enigmatic roommate, Brant—the only person Sally’s ever met whose handshake doesn’t show her a vision at all.
Now Sally must decide how far she’s willing to go to secure a perfectly predictable life. Is an ideal future worth ignoring the present—or regretting the past?
Semi-Psychic Sally is a closed-door contemporary romance with a mystic twist.
Writing fun stories with realistic, flawed human characters is quite possibly my favorite thing in the world. I love people, I love how we all experience life so uniquely, and I love exploring different perspectives, especially those that help me and my readers connect with each other. That's the power of books!
My mission as an author is to help my readers see the human race in a more compassionate light. To look deeper at one another rather than instantly passing judgement. To extend empathy despite our differences. And I package it all up in fun, compelling, maybe slightly fantastical stories.
As someone who consumes stories in all their iterations, be it film, television, song, poetry, or especially books, it's been my dream to contribute my own stories, stories born from my own experiences and the experiences of people I've met. I hope my contributions spark something inside of you, because that means my plan is working. Thanks for being here!
This story was so much FUN, which is something I simply come to expect when it comes to a book by Sara George. There’s always memorable characters with quirky traits or unique gifts, like our FMC Sally who can see her future with anyone she shakes hands with. When she first shakes hands with Dave, she sees their wedding, but when she shakes his roomie Brant’s hand, she sees NOTHING. I was rooting for her and Brant from the very beginning, but man was Sally stubborn (a Stubborn Sally, if you will). I was begging for her to see what was right in front of her, rather than holding onto a future that not completely guaranteed. This book made me laugh just as much as it made me contemplate about the people who matter most in life, and how we should be living our lives with the ones we love, treasuring the moments as they come our way.
This book was unputdownable! Not only did the unique premise of the story draw me in, but the main characters were so endearing. There were mysterious aspects to the plot as well, which kept me flipping those pages until I finally devoured the entire thing. This is a total 10/10 for me. One of the best books I’ve ever read!
I finished this book and just sat there for a minute because I was genuinely sad it was over. You know that feeling when you don’t just like the characters, you feel like you’re losing people? That was me with Sally, Brant, and Fina. They completely stole my heart. Sally is smart and funny and strong in this very human way. Brant is honestly the biggest green flag and I loved him so much for her. And Fina just made everything better. Every single scene she was in felt like a gift.
What surprised me most was how much depth there was. Yes, it has psychic elements and some truly laugh out loud moments, but it’s not light for the sake of being light. There are real struggles, real life stuff, and moments that genuinely made my chest ache. The whole time there’s this quiet sense that something is coming, and when it finally does, it hits exactly the way it should.
Sara has such a beautiful way of shaping a story and keeping everything moving without ever feeling rushed or confusing. This book felt like being wrapped up in something warm and familiar while still being surprised. I already know this is going to be one of those stories I think about randomly and miss like an old friend.
Thank you to Sarah for the e-arc. These thought are my own 🙂
When I heard the protagonist was a psychic, I had a preconception (I know, almost punny) how this plot was going to go down, since psychics are predictable, right? I’m going to be honest, psychics have a negative connotation so I was intrigued to learn more about their world.
The book started out like a Hallmark movie - super light and fun. But it steadily got more complex, vulnerable, and more relatable. It was like watching Jane Austen’s Emma growing through her cringeworthy moments - which make her so relatable and beloved- crossed with the comedic disaster of Raven the psychic from “That’s So Raven!” Sure, Sally’s visions come true…but not always in the way she expected.
I’ve wondered what it would be like to predict the future. Does it prevent pain and suffering? I love being in control, just like Sally. This book does such an excellent job of showing that psychic abilities don’t necessarily make life easier. I worried for Sally just like I did when watching Anakin Skywalker or Oedipus Rex - characters who felt they were destined for a specific future they saw in a vision, not realizing they had agency to change it.
I have been reading Sara’s works for almost twenty years now. She has a knack for succinct descriptions, while still giving enough detail to make you empathize with them. That’s a rare talent!
I am not a crier, but I was feeling all the feels while reading it. The relationships with the trust issues, commitment challenges, rebound, the desires to be wanted, wanting to control one’s future, and so much more felt raw. I couldn’t put it down since I wasn’t sure how things were going to turn out for all the characters. It was definitely cathartic and made me reflect on past and current relationships. Though I may not be psychic like Sally, how often have I plunged into a situation or relationship even though I had premonitions or warnings from observers about the dangers of it?
This was definitely a slow burn romance - which I love - because you see characters grow and learn from life. It was a fun rollercoaster of emotions! I was amazed at how it concluded, as it was not a cliche “wrap it all up quickly to resolve” ending.
I love how Sara George sets up her books to know the expectation of her book. The author’s note lets you know if there are any possible trigger topics. She creates a safe space for readers of different values and perspectives, but doesn’t write like someone in a bubble. It’s a love story with the good type of spice!
Sally is a doctor who works at an imagining center, reading MRI results. And, like it says on the box, she’s psychic. Well, semi-psychic. When she shakes someone’s hand, she gets glimpses of the future, and one day a good-looking equipment salesman comes into her workplace, and when she shakes hands, she sees flashes of their future, one of which is getting married.
As a woman who was found as a baby at a fire station, she’s always looking for connection, even if she doesn’t realize it. And thus she becomes fixed on Dave, the salesman, and starts manipulating what she saw in her visions, to get to that HEA.
What she doesn’t count on is Dave’s roommate Brant, whom she can’t read at all. And that's new to her.
I’d like to say that Sally goes about making her visions come true by relaxing and letting it happen. Unfortunately, that’s not the case, because although Sally’s visions are never wrong, her interpretation of said visions is very slanted.
Here’s the thing. She’s only seeing part of the story. Small vignettes, if you will. There are only images, no sounds. And boy, does she take some pretty liberal interpretations with these visions. She doesn’t have full context of the events she’s seeing, and therefore her world view, and self view, are skewing her judgment.
I’m sure you all can guess who she’s actually supposed to be with, but getting to that future is more than a little bumpy. It’s downright punishing, with Sally mostly punishing Brant and herself.
There was more than one instance that my always-on empathy made me cry for Brant and Sally. Sometimes I wanted to just give her a good talking to, and remind her that just because she can’t see the future with Brant, that doesn’t mean she won’t have one.
This was a marvelous book, and a very unexpected story, as I tend not to read blurbs before diving in. It’s well written, well-paced, made me emotional a lot of the time, and has the happy ending I needed. It’s not a short book, by any means, but nothing in the story is wasted. If you enjoy friends to lovers and psychics who shake a lot of hands, you’ll love this book.
Are you are a type A person who needs to control everything in your life? Or do you live with a person like this? Or maybe you have a friend or family member like this? Or do you just like stories with quirky main characters that make you think, laugh, and sink into an imaginative, unique and relatable story? If yes to any of these, this book is for you!
Semi -Psychic Sally is a modern romance with a whimsical twist in that the main character is a little bit psychic. However, due to many different circumstances, she ends up using her power as a way to control as much of her life as she possibly can (I have teen who likes to try to control and plan out every little thing so this hit especially close to home for me). The story sucked me in from the first page! Throughout the story, we see tremendous personal growth, with a good dose of sarcastic humor. At times I wanted to shake the MFC, and other times I wanted to hug her. Friendships also grow and evolve in realistic ways. The challenges Sally faces are relatable and definitely make you think introspectively.
I would classify the romance as a slow burn but clean spice, friends to lovers story. I absolutely loved the main male character. He was everything he needed to be. I loved their interactions and their friendship.
The mystical side may not be everyone’s cup of tea (tarot cards do make an appearance) but it is kept light (no dark magic or creepy vibes). The overall theme of the book is learning to have faith in yourself and others and letting go of the fear of the unknown. IMO, the mystical parts of the book are what give it is uniqueness and allow the author to better share the struggles and subsequent growth of the characters.
I enjoyed this book tremendously and if you want a fun read with a good bit of depth, this is definitely one to put in your TBR pile!! I highly recommend this author (I LOVED Wish Wrecked!). It was a pleasure to be chosen as an advanced reader! I am looking forward to more books by Sara.
Semi-Psychic Sally by Sara George has given us the unique ability to “see” the future can actually feel like.
This book really made me think a lot, we always talk about knowing the future, and how nice it would be… but this book gave me a glimpse of the perks and also the cons… Every person you touch, you see a timeline or a bunch of “checkpoints” with that one person. And I just thought, how exhausting… and how scary. To the initial meeting with someone you perhaps think you click with, but with one touch of the hand you can see the future with that person.
🔮Psychic main character 🔮Love triangle(s) 🔮Humor and all the banter 🔮Heart 🔮Mysticism 🔮Slow burn
The cards really felt stacked up against this character, and perhaps those in her same position would not have turned out the way she did. The FMC is cautious… finding allies and friends with the brief moments she sees through their entwined or not entwined future. And wham, she sees her marriage and beautiful future with her future husband. Oh man, just reading those lines seems to be quite exciting but was it really for Sally? You gotta read it. I really appreciated the character arc that Sally had, it was hard at times thinking why the FMC did the things she did… but then if you had the ability to see the future with others through just a handshake… Of course, I think I would react the same way. I was hooked with this book and I had to read super late into the night to finish it. And oh my gosh were we brought onto a rollercoaster of emotions. The tension, the push and pull of the characters, and the knowing and “going in blind” for Sally was amazing to read. This book was cathartic in some way. It was lovely.
I recommend this book to anyone who wants something different and a twist that will keep you reeling!
I read Semi-Psychic Sally in one day - and I mean that in the most conflicted way possible.
This was a frustrated read for me, but not in a bad way. It was the kind of frustration that comes from caring too much. From wanting to reach through the page and shake someone by the shoulders.
Sally’s ability to see parts of her future when she shakes someone’s hand is such a clever concept, especially in a romance. But watching her cling to the safety of the predictable - even when it’s clearly not right - was painful. There were moments I wanted to scream, “Stop trying to control everything and choose what feels real!”
And then there’s Brant.
Brant has my whole heart. He’s gentle, darkly funny, open to the supernatural without ridicule, and deeply, quietly vulnerable. He made me emotional more than once. The way he loves without judgment, the way he shows up… it’s beautiful. I found myself wanting to hug him every time Sally pulled away.
What made this book hit harder is that I understood Sally. Her fear of abandonment. Her need for control. Her belief that she is fundamentally unlovable because of her past. She’s an orphan who was never chosen, and that wound bleeds into every decision she makes. There’s something very real about that psychology. Seeing parts of myself in her was uncomfortable - maybe that’s why I reacted so strongly.
This story made me wonder how many “Brants” in life we push away because fear convinces us we’re protecting ourselves.
If you enjoy closed-door romance with emotional depth, flawed characters, and a mystical twist, this one will absolutely make you feel something.
Semi-Psychic Sally is about a woman who can see parts of her future when she shakes hands with a person. Intriguing premise that the author delivers on.
This book is character driven, endearing, fun, and exciting. It got me from the beginning, and held me all the way through to the end. It was a pleasure to read, and I was disappointed each time stupid things like work and sleep forced me to take a break from it.
The author handles the human condition, universal truths, and character flaws and growth beautifully—exploring themes deeply while adding humor and fun in all the right places. Relatable and complex characters and their relationships and interactions had me fully invested. The imagery was also all very well done.
The pacing felt comfortable, pulling me right along. There were points that caused me to set the book down and have a think, which I always appreciate in stories. All that said, it’s still an easygoing read, which makes it feel very well balanced.
Basically, this story is engaging, full of lovable and sometimes-not-so-loveable characters, difficult to put down, and will have readers excited/perplexed/surprised/hopeful at times, and always looking forward to what happens next.
After reading the author’s first book, I was looking forward to her second, and I’m happy to say she’s got another winner. Get the book. If you haven’t read the first one, go get that one, too. Sara George is a talented writer and storyteller. I’m excited for the next one!
Semi-Psychic Sally is a charming and emotionally thoughtful contemporary romance that blends light supernatural intrigue with heartfelt emotional storytelling. Sara George creates a unique and engaging premise that explores fate, vulnerability, and the uncertainty of love through a heroine whose gift complicates her search for happiness in unexpectedly meaningful ways.
One of the novel’s greatest strengths is Sally herself. Her ability to glimpse fragments of the future through touch adds a fascinating emotional dimension to both her relationships and personal choices. Rather than relying solely on the paranormal element, the story uses it to explore deeper themes surrounding trust, fear of uncertainty, and the temptation to control life’s outcomes.
The romantic dynamics are also especially compelling. The contrast between the predictable future Sally believes she sees with Dave and the mystery surrounding Brant creates emotional tension that keeps the narrative engaging throughout. The relationships develop naturally, allowing the emotional stakes to grow alongside Sally’s internal conflict about destiny, choice, and emotional risk.
What makes Semi-Psychic Sally especially memorable is its balance between warmth, emotional reflection, and mystical intrigue. Thoughtful, entertaining, and emotionally sincere, the novel offers readers a refreshing romance about learning that the unknown parts of life may hold the most meaningful possibilities of all.
This book was the most unique take EVER on the love triangle trope. I usually avoid that trope like the plague but I have committed to reading anything by Sara George so I was excited to read it. And it did not disappoint! Sara writes characters that are so painfully real and so relatable and lovable. I love the unique way that she intertwines human failings and fears into a semi-magical plot. I loved that Sally's journey wasn't just a journey to love; it was a journey toward accepting that we can't always be in control but that doesn't mean that we can't be happy and safe. Definitely pre-order this book and read it when it comes out! I was BLESSED with an ARC, and I can't wait for everyone else to be able to read it!
Sally is a multifaceted person. She’s a doctor, an orphan/former foster child, and sorta psychic. She can see the future, but only how her future intersects with another person’s when she shakes their hand. And she’s been searching for years for her future husband. Then in walks Dave. Sally sees their happily ever after and is ready to do what it takes to make it happen. But what obstacles stand in the way? What is she willing to sacrifice?
Sara George has done it again. Semi-Psychic Sally isn’t only a paranormal romance; it’s about choices, agency, fate, love, grief, belonging, and family. This is not a lighthearted, fluffy romance. This book was fun and made me giggle at times, but it also isn’t afraid to be heavy and serious. You will laugh, you will cry, and you just might shout at your book.
Semi-Psychic Sally had me feeling all the feels. I was laughing. I was crying. I was groaning. My heart was racing. I was reading so fast I had to go back and re-read some parts because it was just that good.
Sally and Brant's dynamic was thrilling. Their banter and humor was chef's kiss. When things got dark and heavy, they used their friendship to be strong for each other, but also strong for themselves.
Their friendship blossoms from platonic into romantic in the most organic, swoon worthy, sigh-and-faint kind of way. This is what romance is!
When I finished the book, I was in a daze. One of the best romance novels I have ever read (and I've read a LOT.)
I will be forever recommending this book. I can't wait to read more of Sara George's books.

Wow. I’m not sure what I was expecting but that was so good! The wording is great and the story line is perfect and slightly frustrating haha. I don’t like to watch people self sabotage let alone read about it. And the book definitely puts you through all the feels. It was also an interesting view for one particular scene. It can take a lot for me to cry and there are just a handful of scenes where I was crying because they where beautiful moments. I really enjoy this book.
I’ve never read a book where I enjoyed the story so much all while hating most of the characters at the same time. I spent most of the book wanting to shake Sally and make her see reason. Even while being frustrated with choices the characters were making I truly did enjoy this read and can’t wait to read more from this author.
I loved this book so much! I couldn't stop reading! The psychic idea was new to me as far as the genders I usually read, but it gave an unexpected improvement to an already enjoyable romance. The conflicts kept me locked in and the budding romances and friendships satisfied all desires when reading a romance book! I also really appreciated how clean this book was. I'd recommend it for any age!
I’ve found a new comfort book! Sara has a way of making her characters come to life. I felt all the feels, i laughed, I cried, I fell in love! The writing draws you in and doesn't let you go.
This was such a fun, easy read! The psychic power was a fun twist for a contemporary romance and I liked seeing how Sally’s visions unfolded, often not in the way she (or me as the reader) originally expected.
