В марте 2022 года, после начала полномасштабного вторжения российских войск в Украину, я проехала по маршруту Израиль-Тбилиси-Ереван-Стамбул-Израиль в надежде сделать какое-то количество записок об "Исходе-22", — то есть о том, как люди в эти недели уезжали из России. Этот опыт стал немыслимо важным для меня, и я безмерно благодарна всем, кто встречался со мной, говорил со мной и помогал мне в работе над этими записками. Остаётся добавить, что (разумеется) все Н. здесь — разные люди, и что порядок записок внутри одной локации примерно хронологический. И ещё раз: огромное спасибо всем причастным за помощь, за поддержку, — и за доверие.

Goralik lived in Moscow from 2000 to 2014. She worked there as a journalist and marketing analyst. At that period she translated works of Etgar Keret and Vytautas Pliura (with Stanislav Lvovsky). She also started working in cultural marketing, with Stanislav Lvovsky she organized several art exhibitions and projects, bringing contemporary Israeli culture to Moscow.
After the 2014 annexation of Crimea she returned to Israel, but continued to travel between the two countries until November 2021. She is a vocal opponent to Vladimir Putin's regime and to the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine. In August 2023 Goralik was added to Russia's list of ‘foreign agents’, according to the Russian Ministry of Justice Goralik had spoken out against Russia’s “special military operation in Ukraine” (Russia's official term for the invasion of Ukraine) and had "created or disseminated materials for foreign agents.”.

A fascinating format, and I do believe it handles this difficult topic in a respectful way. That is incredibly hard to do, given the times. Tales of where the new "white russians” fled to are hard to come by, though they are a dime-a-dozen, simply because there’s no market for it in media. Thus, it’s fascinating to read.
