I am SICK!!!
This man stressed me out the entire book.
Hollow is the definition of “I want you… but I don’t.” One minute he’s showing Love she’s different, the next minute he’s acting like he has no feelings and I wanted to fight him so bad. Like sir??? Go to therapy???
And Love… omg. My heart broke for her so many times. Because you could SEE she loved him, but she was also losing herself trying to love someone who didn’t know how to be loved. This wasn’t cute. This wasn’t sweet. This was toxic. Painful. Frustrating. And I could not stop reading.
What got me the most was how real it felt. Hollow didn’t act the way he did for no reason. His trauma had him emotionally locked down, and even when he cared, he didn’t know how to show it without hurting her.
And the PUSH AND PULL!!!!!!!
I was screaming:
“Leave him.”
“No wait, stay.”
“No leave him for real this time.”
“Okay but he’s hurting too…”
It was exhausting in the best and worst way.
I love books that make me feel something, and this one had me mad, sad, and invested all at once.
Hollow is not a green flag.
He’s not even a yellow flag.
He’s a red flag I still cared about.
And I hate that.
Jenica knew exactly what she was doing with this emotional damage.

A Real Good Time!!!!
When I tell you Hollow is one for the MF BOOKS! Yes indeed he is! That mouth piece on him,vicious!
Taking this journey into him & Love's relationship was definitely toxic. Love pushed Hollow's buttons
(AND MINE!) so much during this book. Honestly every single time he was talking slick to her she deserved it. Hollow was about BUSINESS & was up front each and every time. Love & Hollow went THROUGH SO MUCH. I was happy when they FINALLY got a break. Hollow really got Love together, which she needed. That man applied pressure and did not let up. Now Hollow's sister, Adore. A BOSS!!! She captured my attention just as much as Hollow. Her & Whodie !!!!!!! I NEED MOREEEEEE OF THEM!

4.5 🌟Rating ~ A little rudeness never hurt nobody 🤭
That saying is true ~ Opposite attract! Thugs and rude men have hearts too. Things sometimes happen because it’s allowed. DV is not acceptable towards men or woman.
Some may think I’m delulu but I loved me some Hollow. Yes he was mostly rude as all outdoors but he told not one lie. He kept it a buck at all time. One thing for sure though, we he loved he loved hard. Listen for first site, he was feeling Lololi aka Love. Now, she work all the nerves at first. She too much low self-esteem and insecurity. Her actions with fun boy Rowe irritated the mess out of me. She had me consistently say IKYL. Oh but when she finally got tired and start to get I back bone, I had a change of heart. My girl became the person she needed to be for self and to stand by Hollow. Cause the way she assisted with that raggedy Uncle Drex - 🤭. Yeah Uncle was of a different breed. The things he did had me so upset. He is the true definition of weak. Don’t get me wrong when it came to Hollow & Love, they both were stubborn and got on my nerves as well as hardheaded but it worked for them. That chemistry behind close door was top tier. My girl had no issue on taking charge. They didn’t have your normal traditional relationship and could be toxic but one for sure the love they have is real.
Now let’s get on my girl Adore and Whodie! Their cat & mouse game started to get on my nerves but they got it together. I truly understood Adore to a certain extent. She was protecting herself from getting hurt but at the same time blocking her possible blessings. Ya boy was standing 10 toes down for her and expressing his feeling at the same. Like where are these type of men at. Then the age issue. What’s that saying “age ain’t nothing but a number”! My girl had to learn and pay attention to what’s in front of her and when she did, she seen star. That YN showed up and showed out!
Jenica did that with this read. This read display lies, betrayal, secrets, DV and most importantly love. When she said Hollow was rude, she meant just that. But what she didn’t mention was that he was rude with the sweetest heart. If that makes sense. Can’t wait to jump into Whodie & Adore because these two. Ya they a hot mess.

Hollow & Love were BOTH annoying 🥴😭
I didn’t like Hollow at all. Besides being disrespectful I just didn’t feel the connection between him & Love. His actions never really showed that he liked her fr & every time they got into it he used it as an opportunity to walk out on her & go be with another female, put her out or throw in her face how she allowed Rowe to do even worse to her than whatever he did at the moment. He constantly threw her past in her face when he honestly wasn’t treating her any better. Love would leave & be doing good on her own then he would come back around & drag her back into their same back & forth cycle. Neither of them trusted the other one & they were constantly accusing each other of wrong doings instead of just having adult conversations!
Love was BEYOND weak for both men! She never seemed to have a real backbone! They were literally still at each other’s neck up until the very end of the book. It was exhausting 😭!

Currently still reading the book. But so far, Love is a headache she really didn't have this much energy when she was with Rowe. But when it came down to Hollow ohhh, she wanna act all different with him. He actually loves her, but she's making it difficult for him to do so because of her past with Rowe. She was being really inconsiderate when he's son died as well. She was making it about her and not realizing Hollow had feelings too and needed time to grieve the loss of his son. And she didn't tell him she was pregnant with his daughter and then had a memorial for her and didn't tell him. He was spending too much time chasing after her, but she didn't make Rowe chase after her. Love was backwards with Hollow. He showed her that if she wanted to play games, so could he when he wasn't being intimate with her. But all I love me some Hakeem "Hollow" Anderson.

A great read. It was like a 3/3.5. I struggled at 30% because I found Hollow and Love's situation boring. I didn't like Hollow's character at all. And the back and forth got super irritating. I did however love Adore and Whodie. I hope they have their own book!!!! Haven't checked yet.
I found it super unrealistic for Love to be in that position with Drek when she was pregnant. Where did that confidence come from? And why wasn't she scared when Hollow had a gun to her head ready to kill her and when he unloaded the nail gun in Drek's face? It doesn't seem like she's been around any violence like that but she took it all in stride? Unbelievable. There were moments like that where the characters did things out of character and it didn't flow.
The way Hollow lost his son was sad and he got over his son way too fast. Didn't even go to his grave side or keep pictures of him etc just replaced him with another son?
So that's why I couldn't give this a higher rating. It was a great read but just a few improvements would've made it a 5 star read. It was my first time reading anything from Jenica and I will read her other books to see if my rating changes.

This shit was toxic until the end and I loved every minute of it
I ain't never read a couple that had some true IKYFL toxic ass shit going on but yet with love shining through in the toxicity so I ended up saying "you know what I'm not mad at it" while cackling and bobbing my head. Whew Hollow and Love are some crazy mofos and I had fun reading them. Each of the characters had so much growth disguised as not, and it was so well done and layered I could do nothing but give Jenica J her 💐. Even the side characters and their will they won't they OWYM aka YN Romance momentum had me holding my breath. There is a little bit of crime mystery. So much uniqueness on the page and true lol moments after tragedy I couldn't put this down.
Love + Hollow were a pair alright. Love at first mistrust for him and a dove in wolves clothing for her. Watching them banter in their toxicity had me rolling while rooting for these truly crazy kids.

I will say this was a good story, but Hollow and Love we’re both like super childish. Love basically was letting the first guy run over her and then she got backbone with Hollow but her tactics were very childish. Hollow he gets her and he kinda not treating her in a bad way, but his attitude and the way he jump to conclusions both of them jump to conclusions, but also him leaving her at home by herself the same shit she was going through with the other guy seem like she was kind of going through similarities with both of them. Neither one of them knew how to love each other. I don’t know if it was supposed to make him seem like this sexy hard man, but it made him seem childish and not even attractive because of the things he did.you can tell that this was written by a woman because of how she made him act.

iTried yall. iReally did. iWas really rooting for the home team bc the author is from my hometown. iJust couldn’t continue this book. The shootout is where iDrew the line. Not to mention, why are we using words like “chinky” in 2026. “she’s light skinned so iknow shes mixed with something” “proper english” “I’m African. not a ratchet American” When are we going to be delivered from these shackles lawddd !

Both of them had times where all they needed to do was talk to each other but I guess what would be the fun in that. They really had me going crazy... huffing and puffing like damn it these two crazy. I did love them together when they were good though. This book was a roller-coaster, but I loved it.
You never know who you fall in love with. Hallow and Love should have communicated with each other. Most of their problems would have been solved.
I understand that Love needs to get away from toxic relationships. I do think she was wrong for not telling Hallow about baby girl.
I also understand why Hallow never let any woman get close to him after Catina.
I do wonder what happened to Catina husband.
I enjoyed the book because I couldn't put it down.

Baby... **Hollow** is one of those books that had me questioning everybody!
From the very beginning, the atmosphere pulled me in. There was this constant feeling that something wasn't right, and every time I thought I had the story figured out, the author reminded me that I absolutely did not. I was side-eyeing everybody because nobody felt completely innocent.
What I loved most about this book was how it kept me engaged. The suspense kept building chapter after chapter, and I couldn't stop turning the pages because I *needed* answers. That's the kind of thriller I enjoy—one that makes you think, keeps you guessing, and has you creating theories that end up being completely wrong.
The writing was so immersive that I felt like I was right there experiencing everything alongside the characters. Every reveal made me question what I thought I knew, and I loved that the author never made it easy for the reader.
If you're looking for a book that's full of mystery, suspense, and twists that will have you talking to yourself while reading, **Hollow** is definitely one to add to your TBR.
To the author... thank you for taking me on this ride because whew! My trust issues were activated from beginning to end. I love when a story keeps me on my toes, and **Hollow** did exactly that.

This book was extremely toxic. I didn’t even care about Love or Hollow! I never once felt they were in love, but a karmic cycle, or a trauma bond. Whodie and Adore had more of a connection than these two. Hollow and Love were college graduates acting like they were in Junior High. They both got on my last nerves. The story had potential, but the author dropped the ball in several areas (Catina’s husband). There was absolutely no growth. They remained childish from beginning to end. All the spelling mistakes were hard to ignore as well.

So many contradictions and way too much going on that it felt forced. This book was all over the place. I understand it was a urban book I couldn’t get into this at all. So much more that I could say but I don’t want to add any spoilers for anyone. It was highly recommended on TikTok and I should’ve known better.

Ok so Hollow is a basket case and unhinged. My boy was really getting on my nerves. Love whipping his a$& and not taking his stuff made me smile. The two of them paired up is not ideal for a HEA, but I was happy that ended up that way. Cause mannnnn if they fight and fuss one more time. Or break up 😑

I'm sorry I wouldn't have chosen Rowe or Hollow. Rowe was a cheater and abuser and Hollow didn't know how to communicate without without cursing at her and saying derogatory things. I wanted to give him grace because he never dated a real woman but that grace only extended so far. Catina was the Mother from hell how can you burn your child and then turn around and kill your own Son because the Father didn't want you. Overall the book had me laughing and was full of drama

Yeah, this was my kind of toxic relationship. This book was too good and full of action, drama and a whole lot of spiciness. Hollow was as toxic as they came. He was very outspoken, which to some, came off as rude, but he was just real. Hollow was the best part of the book, he kept me entertained and laughing.

HOLLOW IS THAT DUDE
I love a story that makes you you feel all the emotions! Hollow was rude, disrespectful, blunt, a mortician and an assassin. He also was misunderstood and loved in a way most people wouldn’t be able to deal with. Even though this isn’t a soft romance I still managed to FALL IN LOVE add HOLLOW TO MY LIST OF BOOK BOYFRIENDS

Grammatical errors are annoying but more than anything, this feels all over the place. Over 400 pages and loner, stoic Hollow is already in love with Love, SMH. I don't mind a mean MMC but with a plot that makes sense. He's all over the place with Love. The naivety of Love reads as dumb FMC more than anything. The tone of the book starting out was perfect but it feels in cohesive.

Great Book
Hollow was the definition of unhinged, and this was the definition of a hood love story. Some parts do leave unanswered questions, but the overall storyline was amazing and kept me entertained.

This started out interesting , then it became a repetitive loop chapter after chapter. Neither of the main characters evolved or evoked any emotions . Other than boredom and frustration with the same excessive words page after page. Cannot recommend.

The second most toxic love \ relationship I've ever read. Its not just comical its full of love. Its like a ratchet ROM com that you'll watch more than twice to make sure you watched it lol.

Enjoyed every minute of reading about Hollow and Love’s story. They were too funny. Hollow didn’t care what came out his mouth and I loved it! I loved the chemistry between the two. Great Book!!
