From #1 New York Times–bestselling author Catherine Coulter, the explosive new addition to the remarkable thriller series featuring Nicholas Drummond and Mike Caine.

FBI agent Nicholas Drummond and his partner, Mike Caine, are deep into an investigation of COE—Celebrants of the Earth—a violent group known for widespread bombings of power grids and oil refineries across the country. While investigating a tip from a civilian who’s overheard about a possible bombing plot, the Bayway Refinery in New Jersey explodes. Nicholas and Mike race to the scene and barely escape being killed by a secondary device.

Returning to the civilian’s home to continue their interrogation, they discover the tipster—and the FBI team left to guard him—dead. While Nicholas calls in the assassinations, COE strikes again, this time launching a cyber-attack on several major oil companies and draining their financial and intellectual assets.

But COE has been infiltrated by a deep-cover counterterrorism agent named Vanessa Grace. A bomb-making expert, Vanessa must leave COE and join forces with Nicholas and Mike to stop the organization’s devious plan to assassinate the President. But there’s an assassin on the loose who could tip the scales in COE’s favor, and no one knows his ultimate target, or who has contracted his services.

Working with the CIA, the Secret Service, Mossad, MI-5, and even Savich and Sherlock, Nicholas and his team put their lives on the line to prevent another conflagration—and save the President.

When a group of terrorist bombers begin targeting refineries and various political entities, FBI agents Nicholas Drummond and partner Michaela Caine are brought in to track them. But this terror cell is sophisticated, with capabilities not only in bomb making, but computer hacking, and they soon find they are in a race against time to stop them before they can take out a high-ranking target. This was an exciting read with disasters to thwart around every turn. Things got especially intense in the last half where I particularly enjoyed it!

The End Game, 3rd book in Catherine Coulter & J.T. Ellison’s A Brit in the FBI Series.

A small underground group known as the Celebrants of the Earth (COE) is determined to stop America from importing oil from the Middle East and has been bombing local power grids and oil refineries on a small scale without causing any deaths.

When one oil refinery in New Jersey is bombed causing multiple casualties, FBI agent Nicholas Drummond and his partner, Michaela “Mike” Caine race against time to find the perpetrators.

Bombings, cyber-attacks, hackers, action, undercover agents, mad scientists, ruthless assassins, a plot to kill world leaders….action packed car chases!!

I found the beginning of this book rather slow but it does pick up but never to the point of exciting me.

There were a lot of secondary characters that I thought made no sense to the plot. An interesting character introduced in this book - undercover CIA agent Vanessa Grace, who I look forward to seeing more of in the futute.

It seems that there’s some kind of build-up of a romance between Nicholas and Mike, which is probably going to be expanded in the next book.

I liked how the authors interwove the famous chess match in 1956 between Bobby Fischer and Donald Byrne that was dubbed The Game of the Century into the plot.

Not a WOW addition to the series, End Game is still an enjoyable read.

It is official. I am in love with Nicholas Drummond. I don't care if he's too young for me or fictional. Once again, the narration makes the characters stand out.

Unfortunately, the plot and big bad suspense portion of the book was lackluster, mundane and depressing.

The Koohinor diamond The Final Cut, a WWI submarine holding secretsThe Lost Key, and the Ark of the Covenant and a pair of crazy twins controlling the weather The Devil's Triangle are all fun times. Domestic terrorists protesting US presence in Muslim oil countries by bombing domestic sites is not. Nobody wants reality in their suspense novel.

Pet Peeve Ranty Spoiler

There is a slight push in the romance between Nicholas and Michaela, but low to almost no heat. However, there is an absolutely hysterical scene where he firsts kisses her, but it is all too brief and stands there all by itself. Too bad as their banter is authentic and charming.

Another great installment of A Brit in the FBI - this story centers around very lethal "gold coins", with references to the game of chess, in particular a very famous game (1956 The Game of the Century) between Bobby Fischer (13 years old) and Donald Byrne (26 years old). The main characters are very likeable and the bad guys are very dislikeable! Edge of your seat and action packed with stuff getting blown up, etc.

A must read for fans of espionage. 4.5 stars and 2 thumbs up.

I really like the FBI team of Nicholas Drummond and Michaela (Mike) Caine. They make a good team, both smart, quick on their feet and with very few annoying characteristics. I'm afraid I don't like Michaela being called Mike - I didn't read the first two books and she is being called Mike before her character is well-developed as female, so the first few times I read Mike - I thought male.

Even though I didn't read the first two books in the "A Brit in the FBI" series; it read easily as a stand alone with a few references to past cases from the prior two books. If you had read the first two books, I think the characters would probably be better fleshed out for you.

I really enjoyed the plot of this book with the tracking of a small anti-3rd world oil import terrorism group called COE that becomes involved in the assassination attempt on the President and Vice President of the US. The President of the US is trying to pull off a peace accord with the middle eastern countries. I really liked how the female Vice President was drawn as she comes off as competent, savvy and without rose colored glasses seeing the underlying motives of those engaged in the peace accord. I think there were some accurate and current 3rd world terrorism points touched on, but not not necessarily depicted in too much detail. The focus was capturing the group called COE and the assassin that had insinuated himself with the group for his own means.

There were a few items that I found off during parts of the book.

There was the needless incorporation of Savich & Sherlock which actually took away from the lead characters and didn't add anything to the book. I had actually stopped reading Catherine Coulter's books because I had gotten bored with and tired of S & S. By adding them to the book they created a scene which for me was ridiculous and definitely didn't seem realistic. A threat against the President, Vice Pres, and Oil Company VIPs is present and imminent and yet Savich, Sherlock, Caine and Drummond take the night off to have a home cooked lasagna dinner with Drummond playing four rounds of Super Spaceman Spiff with S & S's son, Sean. I find this hard to believe. This seemed so off...they would be working round the clock. (Knight to E4 (page 322)). I have to say, I wished the whole scene had been edited out.

I also found myself extremely irritated every time Michaela's mom was referred to as "the Gorgeous Rebecca". I'm not sure why her mom even needed any commentary in the book little lone the ridiculous moniker.

In trying to create down to the second rescue achievements, some of the scenes played a little too fantastical where I had a hard time imagining that the efforts involved could actually be done in such a small window of seconds even with Nicholas's genius computer skills.

I plan to add this series to my "to read" series and will go back and read the first two books in the series.

Well, this one was a disappointment to me. I understand that this series is supposed to be completely over the top and that has never bothered me. The first two books had parts that made me laugh out loud. This one? None. Zip. Nada. The storyline was fine, although I missed the whole light and breezy James Bond vibe. What I disliked was when Nicholas and Michaela started having bodice-ripping-almost-sex. Ugh. This is why I don't read romance novels. And then when Mike started behaving like a child over it I wanted to throw the book across the room. I guess the author is a romance novelist, which I didn't realize, so maybe that explains it. I see that people are categorizing the next book as a romance, so I guess I'm going to call it a day. 😜😜😜

The right wing politics ruined the novel for me. Will not be reading any more of the Brit in the FBI books.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this series and ALL of the cgaracters, including the overlaps from other stories (Savich, Sherlock et al).

this story was FABULOUS & WOW, so REAL! I totally felt invested from the get-go and even dreamed about the storyline, lol.

This book is a continuation in the "Brit in the FBI" series, a colabboration of two of my all time faves: Catherine Coulter and JT Ellison. I loved the roller coaster, no exaggeration, this plot dragged us on; so intricate with fascinating characters and the baddest of bad guys!

I'm totally pumped for the next book! Will it be titled "Covert Eyes" or "For Your Eyes Only", perhaps?!

Coulter and Ellison’s #3 in their A Brit in the FBI series, The End Game is a nail-biting, timely tale of terrorists, both homegrown and foreign, political intrigue and battling government alphabet agencies, with her FBI stars and some fabulous co-stars both familiar and new front and center. The settings are perfect the narrative fitting for their highly addictive storyline and complex characters. It’s a perfect marriage of both their unique and individual writing styles into an exceptional collaboration of expressions and forms that culminates into the ultimate page-turner. The adrenalin filled multiple payoffs at the end is the piéce de résistance of this incredible, unforgettable thriller.

FBI special agents Michaela, Mike, Cain and Nicholas Drummond are following a tip about a possible attack on an oil refinery in NJ by a homegrown terrorist group with international ties known as the COE, Celebrants of Earth, whose mission is to keep Middle Eastern oil from being imported by disabling oil refineries. But before they even get their feet wet investigating, the ground shakes and they know they’re too late. This time the COE has upped the brutality ante and instead of keeping blood off their hands, countless innocent civilian lives have been lost at the refinery and also an informant and his FBI guards have been killed, execution style. Mike and Nicholas have a theory that there’s a new, more dangerous player involved who has convinced the group for whatever reason to escalate the violence. Then before the fires can be put out, the COE hacks all the major oil companies computer systems.
With some unexpected help from covert government agencies both at home and abroad, Nicholas and Mike are in a race against time to figure out what these radicals have planned next and stop them before it can be carried out.

Better than the second but not as good as the first. The plot in this one was the most realistic so far, with villains straight out of real life. A little too real to be comfortable, IMO. The plot had a few things that were predictable, but not as many as the second book. Considering the overall conservative vibe I've been getting from this series so far, I was really disappointed when they did the cliche thing where the two leads "get together" by having mad sex rather than proceeding at a more old-fashioned rate. Plus, it makes me a little worried about what the dynamic will be with them in future books. If they'd gone the slow burn, courtship, old-fashioned, everything in the right order route, the romantic/sexual tension could have continued even as their relationship progressed. By blowing up all that tension in a big "they're having sex now and everyone's totally cool with it!" plot development, that's one part of the plot that they can no longer build and tease. All that momentum has been spent. That, I think, is one reason that so many shows/series are known for getting bad once the main couple "gets together". I think that was a misstep on the authors' part. But, I am interested to see this new covert unit that they get. Seeing how that goes (as well as the return of a character from a previous book) is enough to make me interested in continuing the series, even if I am really disappointed at the sexual turn the relationship between Nick and Mike has taken.

After listening to the first couple of stories in this series, I almost gave up completely. I'm glad I stuck with it for one more book ... End Game is fabulous! The story is intriguing -- in more ways than one -- the politics of dealing with Iran and other countries in the Middle East hits very close to home.

The chemistry between Nicholas and Mike has finally heated up -- YAY! And, I loved the fact that Savich, Sherlock, and a few other familiar faces made appearances in this story.

On a side note, this book was developed as a chess match. At the beginning of each chapter was a move. I know enough about chess to recognize the names of the pieces and their movements, but that's about it. I could not visualize these actual movements on a chessboard to save my life, but this did not detract from the story, at all.

Excellent!

The End Game

I didn't think I was going to care for this but I was wrong once again. If I think back to the last Brit in the FBI book in this series I know I liked it but I could have taken it or left it, it didn't matter either way but after reading this book I will be sticking with this series. I enjoyed how the authors are finally getting the main characters together instead of dragging their relationship on and on. It makes the series more interesting even though I'm not a romance reader.

In a nutshell this book is stereotypes multiplied by 100000.
I would like to ask the author what she means by "Islamic Terrorism" because I swear I didn't know terrorism had a religion. That's like calling gays white gays because somehow most gays are white?
The reason for one star is because the book was written to fuel stereotype and hatred for Middle East specifically Muslims overlooking the fact that most accomplices in Terror plots in the book were WHITE.

I love Catherine Coulter’s FBI series; the Brit in the FBI series is good, but they definitely lack something in places throughout the book. I know there are two authors, and much of the series is a collaboration; it seems though that parts of each of these books must be written by J. T. Ellison without collaboration and they lack something? I have simply been unable to address what that something is. However, on the whole these books are awesome and for those not accustomed to Coulter’s FBI series, they are definitely a 5 star read.

FBI agent (the Brit) Nicholas Drummond and his partner, Mike (since I can never spell her real name correctly, we can leave it at Mike) Caine, are investigating of COE—Celebrants of the Earth—a group known for widespread bombings of power grids and oil refineries across the globe. A tip about a possible bombing plot, leads Nicholas and Mike to the Bayway Refinery in New Jersey; where a secondary device explodes as the duo race to help victims, nearly taking their lives. One thing COE had been known for prior to this attack was not leaving dead bodies; now they have upped the ante, leaving 15 dead at the scene. The tipster and his three FBI guards are found murdered shortly thereafter. Reeling from the attack, their near death experience and the multiple murders, Mike and Nicholas are called to help stop a cyber attack which was initiated shortly thereafter, taking down several major oil companies while draining their financial and intellectual assets.

A witness near the apartment where the group had been staying gives Nicholas & Mike another lead, which allows them to discover a CIA plant within COE, as well as a militant assassin who has also joined them. Like a game of chess, the duo discovers that the end game is to take the king, or in this case the President & Vice President of the United States. The question is can Nicholas & Mike beat all of the sabotages and contingency plans that have already been activated to take down the U.S?

FBI Special Agents Nicholas Drummond and Michaela (Mike) Caine are investigating a group that has been bombing refineries in an attempt to get America to stop getting their oil from countries that back terrorists when the stakes are upped and the bombings are bigger and now in the US.

The mystery contains plenty of action, high level politics—both foreign and domestic—tension, a little humor, sexual tension and some time spent with Savich and Sherlock as well as the CIA. The story is told from multiple points of view; both the good guys and the bad, for a well-rounded tale.

I have to say the beginning started off kind of slow for me, especially when a number of different foreign characters are being described and quickly forgotten about for a while. But the action begins soon afterward. Unlike the FBI series that has Savich and Sherlock in each story, the humor in these stories is limited and you don’t have a couple du jour. And you only get one very involved case per book. This is a more action and international driven series.

I really like the main characters and the secondary ones have been growing on me. And to shake things up, changes at the FBI could provide an even larger story scope with the next book release.

If work hadn’t gotten in the way I wouldn’t have put it down. There is a lot to keep the reader involved.

Story & Narration 4.5

James Bond factor 8.5

Improbable, impossible... absolutely it's James Bond working with the FBI. Without the so 60's sexism.

Smart, polished, brilliant, former British spy Nicholas, joins the FBI (book 1) and is partnered with equally smart and edgy Mackalya (Mike). These two have so much chemistry it leaps off the pages, but it's a slow to burn on the romance side. Mostly flirty in books 1,2 and most of book 3 until it wasn't.

The crime is worthy of any thriller, read the summary for that. It'll do a better job than my rambling. But seriously kick ass, complex and definitely with a touch of James Bond fighting Spectre panache.

Excellent because both Nicholas and Mike are excellent, this is not a one man show by any means.

Excellent fun, just love this series.

The End Game is the third book in The Brit in the FBI series by Catherine Coulter and J.T. Ellison. In this exciting entry in the series, there is a small underground group called Celebrants of Earth, known as the COE, whose primary goal is to stop America from importing oil from the Middle East. They make themselves known by bombing power grids in the U.S.

FBI Special Agents Nicholas Drummond and Michaela "Mike" Caine are charged with finding those responsible in not only the deaths of many, but the threats of future bombings. What Nicholas and Mike quickly find out is that, aside from the bombings, many more gruesome attacks are soon to take place. Added to the nonstop action and excitement incorporated in the pages of this book is the blooming romance of Nicholas and Mike.

Skip it

I loved her savage FBI series. Idk what happened here. Seems she got confused & decided to make this a poorly written romance novel
The female characters were sickening
The dialogue was pathetic
Ex. vice president. They `hate our guts'
fBI agent one. ' his very best friend' ' it scared me to my toes'
FBI agent 2. Follows around after male agent pulling at his sleeve hand on his sleeve then stops in discussion of world destruction to make out & ' grind against his hardness'. In the hospital ICU room of critically injured FBI agent 1
Ummm. These are not string female characters. Did ms Coulter even write this???

Well, this one was filled with lots of action, most of it coming down to the last minutes/seconds with Nicholas and Mike swooping in to save the day. It was funny how everyone seemed to know about Nicholas and Mike and when the crap hit the fan called them in.

I loved how during the course of things Nicholas and Mike won over some powerful allies, ones who managed to change the course of their professional lives. I can't wait to see what they make of this new start, that and how they deal with the changes they made to their personal lives.

So far my least favorite. Did not like the story line and they are making Drummond almost super human. Did like how they will continue the story though. Always enjoy when Savitch and Sherlock show up, I do prefer straight Catherine Coulter! I really enjoyed the ending and only wish it was real!!! That is all I have to say. Just that I hope the next one is better.

END GAME is book #3 in A Brit in the FBI series written by Catherine Coulter and JT Ellison. This was a reread, and this time we listened to the audio version narrated by Renee Raudman and MacLeod Andrews.

MY RATING GUIDE: 3.5-4 Stars. Both my husband and I enjoyed this.

1= dnf/What was that?; 2= Nope, not for me; 3= This was okay/cute; 3.5= WE ENJOYED THIS; 4= WE LIKED IT A LOT; 5= I Loved it, it was great! (I seldom give 5 Stars).

END GAME involves FBI agents Michela/“Mike” Caine and former Brit and M-6 agent Nicholas Drummond working together with FBI agent Savich and Sherlock (from the Sherlock and Savich FBI series by Coulter) and other members of the FBI, the CIA, the Secret Service and Mossad. Together these agents must identify and pick up the members of a resistance organization (Celebrants of Earth/COE) which suddenly begun bombing US oil refineries. The COE leader is an unstable tech genius who test ran a new coin-size bomb on one of the refineries, taking lives. This leader now also identifies himself with a known assassin who has the US President and Vice President “in his sights”. The clock is ticking. Both the resistance group and the assassin must be stopped.

What I Liked ~
1) END GAME moves quickly bouncing back and forth between characters (several who have been introduced in previous books) and different settings.
2) I enjoy the friendship which has developed and is evident between the various MCs in this series.
3) Good prevails over Evil. Yay.
4) This is a Clean book, without sexual situations or profanity. No particularly dark or graphic scenes.
5) The narration was well done and kept our interest. Easy to follow.

What I Liked Less ~
1) The conflict is partially provided by lack of cooperation between the CIA, the FBI and friction between “world powers.” I detest politics and double-speak. END GAME contains a fair amount between alphabet agencies and various world governments. It traces too close to actual reality, IMO. Other readers will prefer this.
2) Although both my husband and I liked END GAME, I didn’t find END GAME as suspenseful or enjoyable as the previous books in this series perhaps mainly because of #1 above.

READER CAUTION ~ Rather Clean. Suitable for most YA readers, IMO.
PROFANITY - None, I believe.
SEXUAL SITUATIONS - None. Couple? brief kisses.
VIOLENCE - PG. Action includes FBI, CIA, terrorists but details not especially graphic or dark.

This is the best and most realistic of the Brit in the FBI series to date. What this story is based on, Iran's hatred for Israel and the United States is on display here. The Iran nuclear treaty was a joke with one side, the US, the only one following the agreement. Thankfully it was shredded and destroyed. Too bad we couldn't get the money back that we gave to Iran.

Nicholas and Mike are trying to stop COE, a organization who destroys energy facilities to show their dislike of any company that profits terrorist nations. The difference is that now COE is taking lives. What changed their stance? Who is now involved in COE?

Lots of action with politics underlying it all makes this a more enjoyable novel then the last one which was quite frankly was not believable. The only thing that was science fiction with this story was the size of a massive destructive bomb being the size of a coin. That currently isn't feasible but who knows what the future holds.

Mike and Nicholas get it on. Taking the step you knew was coming in following through on their clear lust for each other. It will be interesting to see where their relationship goes.

Really enjoyed this 'chapter' in the lives of Nicholas Drummond and Michaela (Mike) Caine, two high spirited agents in the F.B.I. Agents Drummond and Caine and the usual crew are up against it here as a terrorist group, the Celebrants of Earth (COE) have stepped up their game from just bombing small oil refineries and telling them to quit importing Middle Eastern oil, to killing. And it's all because assassin Zahir Damari under the alias of Darius has infiltrated the group to bend them to his goal of assassinating the President and Vice President of the United States. Meanwhile, the C.I.A. also has a mole in the group, Vanessa Grace who actually went to college with Caine. But when the head of COE, Matthew Spencer, aka The Bishop, discovers Vanessa is a traitor all hell breaks lose. People die. Can Drummond and Caine stop COE from blowing up another refinery and also killing the POTUS and VPOTUS? Read it to find out.

This is an action packed thrill ride where Agents Drummond and Caine need to stop Middle East terrorism and a possible assassination attempts on the president and vice president. There were numerous plot twists that kept me guessing, and that would have made James Bond proud! I am looking forward to reading more in this series.

[The following comments are made with my best effort to think of this Catherine Coulter as separate from the C.C. who wrote Backfire and earlier titles all the way back to The Autumn Countess.]

The End Game is a fun read. There's still a flatness to the characterizations and dialogue, and the vocabularies for the 20- and 30-somethings don't ring true to the 21st century. The multiple James Bond references have returned, too. Readers get it: sophisticated British government spy = 007. No need to beat us over the head with it.

The conclusion of The End Game has me interested in the next installment of this series.

editing oversight: On pg.18: Nicholas took one [choc.-mint GS cookie] to be polite; they'd been floating around the office for the past few weeks... {This is from Nicholas's POV, but he has no way of knowing this fact since he and Mike have just met this man, who hasn't revealed any details about the cookies.}

minor incorrect/correct proofreading oversights: He's/He works at the Bayway; speeded*/sped in a couple of spots; pg.195 ...idiots in Congress from censoring/censuring...; colonel/Colonel Rahbar in a few spots

*not technically wrong, but not as smooth to read

My expectations are high for titles from the big publishers, which makes me nit-picky.
