After my ex ran off with his secretary, I decided I’d take our nonrefundable dream trip anyway. Paris was supposed to be my rebound romance with the city itself, late-night wine, a fling or two, and definitely no strings.
Then I got lost in the catacombs, tripped over a cracked marble slab, and woke up… him. Pale. Perfect. Arrogant as sin. Raoul. He looks like he stepped straight out of a history book, or a very expensive fever dream. And somehow, he thinks I owe him for disturbing his beauty sleep.
He’s infuriating. He’s magnetic. And when shadows start stirring in the tunnels, I realize Paris might not just steal my heart, it might devour it.
Raoul
Three centuries of slumber, and I wake to a woman who smells like sunlight and heartbreak. She babbles, she insults me, she fascinates me. Humans used to tremble before my name. Now this one waves a “phone” in my face and tells me I’m “mansplaining.” I should compel her to forget me. I should go back to sleep.
But something else woke when I did. Something ancient, hungry, and vengeful. Suddenly, I find myself protecting this stubborn mortal as if she were my last breath.
She says she doesn’t want another man. Unfortunately for both of us, I’m not a man.
I’m temptation wrapped in eternity, and I never lose.
Vacation with the Vampire is a short, steamy novella that is part of the Monsters and Margaritas shared author series. It features one ancient vampire and a vacation goer looking for distractions, not romance.
Vala Stone is a passionate storyteller who weaves together romance and the supernatural in her enthralling paranormal romance novels. When she’s not writing, she enjoys crocheting and binge-watching her favorite shows like Supernatural. Vala lives in a quaint, little town with her loving family and a mischievous tortoise cat, whom she adopted as a stray.
Sweet and steamy vampire romance centered around Susie, who decided not to let a cheating fiancé get in the way of a Parisian vacation, and Raoul, a jaded French vampire who was supposed to sleep another millennia or so until Susie literally stumbled past the magicked wards and woke him.
This was so much fun to read, and a great addition to the Monsters & Margaritas series.
I was generously provided an advance reader copy from the author and booksirens, and I’m pleased to share my honest review.
Susie is in Paris in the catacombs on a tour. She gets sort of lost but finds a crypt behind a wall that moved. In there is a man and he's looking at her. Raoul has been in his little atrium under the catacombs where he was to stay for a few more centuries. But something has woken him up. He opens his eyes to see a human woman. She's injured and he smells her blood and his fangs pop out. She thinks he's into cosplay, he wonders what that is. Suddenly a centuries old vampire meets a future human woman and the modern world. Then that world goes topsy turvy when he realizes what she is to him! But danger is coming for her and he puts himself in front of her to protect her. The reader learns what a centuries old vampire thinks of modern life while the modern woman teaches him that some things are worth the change.

Paris was supposed to heal her, not hand her to a vampire.
The Elevator Pitch: After betrayal sends a wounded traveler into the Paris catacombs alone, she wakes an ancient vampire who should have remained buried beneath the city. As old magic, hidden predators, and impossible attraction close around them, his control begins to fracture around the one mortal he can’t treat as temporary. What starts as a ruined vacation becomes a dangerous bond between heartbreak, hunger, and the choice to trust a monster with a human heart.
Synopsis: I came to Paris for croissants, not coffins.

Review: What a sweet and sizzling read! It had me laughing at times and the characters had great chemistry. However, I’m surprised Susie just accepted that vampires were real and they were soulmates! I honestly thought it would take some convincing on her part but at the end of the day these two characters were meant to be! I do wish it was a longer and we got to spend a little more time with them but I understand this wa written to be short because it is a novella!
Thank you Booksirens for giving me the opportunity to read this book!
This paranormal vampire romance was a really enjoyable and atmospheric read. The setup alone is wonderfully intriguing: a vampire who has been sleeping beneath the Paris catacombs for centuries is awakened far earlier than intended by his fated mate, and suddenly has to adapt to the modern world. One of the most entertaining aspects of the story is the male main character himself. Since he essentially comes from post-Revolutionary France, he is extremely chivalrous and carries very old-fashioned manners and attitudes into modern life. Watching him interact with the contemporary world—and surprisingly quickly adapt to it—was both charming and funny at times. The female main character is also very likable. She is warm, resourceful, and manages to handle the increasingly strange circumstances around her surprisingly well. The chemistry between the two works naturally, and the romance develops alongside the larger supernatural mystery. That mystery centers around a magical stone hidden inside her pocket mirror by her ex, a warlock who is actively searching for it again. What exactly the stone does is never fully explained, but it is clearly powerful enough that multiple groups are interested in obtaining it. I actually liked that the book balanced these two storylines—the romance and the hunt for the stone—at the same time, because it kept the pacing engaging throughout. Although the book is on the shorter side, it feels complete enough to work as a satisfying, quick paranormal escape. The Parisian setting, supernatural intrigue, and romantic atmosphere all come together very nicely. Overall, this is a charming and entertaining vampire romance with an unusual historical angle, lovable characters, and enough mystery to keep the story engaging from beginning to end.

Susie* decides to take advantage of a prepaid trip to Paris despite having broken up with the boyfriend who was supposed to have accompanied her. She stumbles upon and awakens a vampire who had been under magically induced sleep since the French Revolution. Apparently vampires don’t have to avoid the sun and they need to consume food in addition to blood. Literary license at its finest.
There’s a mystery afoot surrounding Susie’s carry-on bag. A woman tries to steal it, her ex calls to yell at her for taking it and her hotel room is ransacked with the bag being ripped to shreds.
Back to Raoul, the vampire. He and Susie are almost immediately drawn to one another and he determines to remain at her side until this problem is resolved. He is also starting to think that she may be his soulmate.
Curiouser and curiouser. Why didn’t Susie report her hotel room being trashed to management? Wouldn’t they have security cameras that might help identify who the culprit was?
The object everyone is seeking is finally revealed and eventually turned over to who wanted it. The reader is never privy as to what made it so desirable nor how her ex-boyfriend happened to have it in the first place.
Susie moves permanently to France to live with Raoul. No mention is made of what her family thinks. She indicates in the epilogue that they'd have centuries together. How does that work? Was she turned into a vampire? Too many unanswered questions.
*I wish she didn’t have such a little girl sounding name.
Vampire Raoul is (rudely, he thinks) woken from his two-century sleep in the Parisian catacombs by tourist Susie. He was supposed to sleep for a full three centuries, so he’s grouchy, to say the least. He takes Susie to the exit from the catacombs and then to an ancient friend but then finds he’s strangely reluctant to let her go. After finding Susie’s hotel room has been broken into, his reluctance solidifies into a resolve to protect her. Susie’s not sure what to make of the bizarre situation she finds herself in. She’s glad to have Raoul at her side while they search for who’s hunting for Susie and why. And he’s glad to have Susie with him while he tries to figure out how a human could’ve broken the sleep spell.
I loved these two. Raoul adjusts pretty well to the new world he wakes in, and I think Susie is a big part of that. Aside from being alarmed — at first — about discovering vampires and other supernatural creatures are real, she’s surprisingly calm and rolls with the punches. Her connection with Raoul grows organically but quickly, and makes perfect sense when we learn why she was able to rouse Raoul. I also loved the humor in this book, with Raoul’s dry observations and Susie’s deadpan delivery a perfect fit.

3.5⭐ rounded up A tour through the Paris catacombs is exactly the thing someone might want to do after they decided to go on the prepaid vacation they were supposed to take with their boyfriend but didn't because he's a lying, cheating douche. Meeting their vampire soulmate in those catacombs probably isn't the exact thing someone might be aiming to do after said breakup, but hey when fate comes a knocking we go through the weird crack in the wall 😂
It was silly, it was steamy (on the tail end), but honestly there was just too much to overlook for me to fully enjoy it. I'm a huge fated mates lover but this had me going "wow she isn't even going to question anything?" 😂😂 She didn't want to know why he wanted to sleep for so long, she didn't want to know what life was like before he went to sleep, she didn't want to know if accepting the bond would change her in any way, she didn't want to know if she could/would/should become a vampire, like ma'am. She wanted to get laid, he tried to explain it, she was like yeah ok ok sounds good, and then bam they're mated. I know it's a short story but it was just a little too short for their get together to really feel like anything.
3.5 stars. This is a very fun story with a mystery, adventure, some steam, and humorous banter. It features a strong and protective French vampire and a brave and resilient woman. Susie is visiting Paris alone on a trip she should have taken with her vile ex who cheated on her. On a tour of the catacombs, she finds herself lost and comes across Raoul. He is dashing but dusty after a 200 year sleep in the catacombs. He has much to learn about the changes in the world, but she helps him adjust. Meanwhile, he protects her when danger presses in on her. I love the characters, and the plot and world building are riveting. But I had a lot of questions that were not answered in this story. It would have been nice for Raoul to be fleshed out a little bit more, in the form of his backstory. He and Susie knew each other for such a short time before committing to each other, and she just takes it all in stride. Even though they are soulmates, she might have sought more detailed information about him. They may have chemistry, but it feels like they barely know each other. However, Raoul is a vast improvement over her cheating ex. And the story is entertaining. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Paris Vacation Gone Wrong (or Right?): Enter One Very Grumpy Vampire
Vala Stone’s Vacation with the Vampire is another fun read that shows off her immersive yet playful writing style. This story did not disappoint.
I loved the setup. A sharp witted American woman is trying to salvage a solo Paris vacation after discovering her boyfriend cheated on her. Meanwhile, a very grumpy vampire gets accidentally woken up decades early from his slumber. Their worlds collide in the most entertaining way possible.
The banter and teasing between the two is fantastic and easily my favorite part of the story. Their chemistry jumps right off the page and makes the whole fated mates dynamic feel both fun and natural.
As much as I loved the main couple, I also found myself really curious about Louis and Thibault. I would happily read more novellas featuring either of them.
If you enjoy fated mate romances with a possessive and protective MMC, a strong and feisty FMC, and a Paris backdrop where even the catacombs can feel a little romantic, then this is definitely one to pick up.

If you are looking for a good intro book to paranormal and vampires. This a vampire romance with virtually no biting... That's intergal to any Vampire story. Otherwise it would have been 4 stars. The actual story that was written was great. I laughed at times gasped etc. It was very moving but at 71% and he fed once and not on his mate. Than the amount of control he would have had to have in the beginning. The FMC is literally bleeding and him a vampire which has been asleep for over 100 years barely noticed... A vampire that isn't a sanguinophile is just a hard concept for me to grasp. However if you have an aversion to the blood or biting than this is the "vampire" romance for you. It was well written. It just had a lack of classic tropes associated with this specific genre. Oh I nearly forgot to mention because is was small thing. While I did enjoy the story there were a few unanswered questions like immortality and hers. It's not novella length so was expecting more pertinent information. What is there was enjoyable. Just a back burner thought.
Lastly I did receive this as an arc but I'm not obligated to leave this review.
This book was great and fun. It is the second Monsters and Margaritas book I have read and so far fantastic fun has been had. Having Susie wake Raoul from his century long sleep is the best way for these two to meet. That Raoul is a vampire who has been asleep since the 1800's and is woken by this very modern woman who has a bit of sass is something he is not used to in a woman. And of course she is dressed horrendously in his opinion. For Susie, she believes she has stumbled upon some very serious actor who is trying to prank her while she is on a tour underground in Paris. It doesn't take long for the two of them to see the truth about themselves. They almost instantly protect and stand up for each other. It is sweet and the two of them love the verbal jabbing. It all leads up to all kinds of fun. As Raoul says, "When we do this, and we will." It is all inevitable in the best possible way. Thank you Vala Stone for another fantastic story and two more great characters. Can we take them to Hillcrest Hollow?
Thank you Vala Stone for sending me this advance review copy for free. I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I'm a sucker for a good cozy vampire story!
Raoul was so much fun, and he kept cracking me up the entire time with how serious he is. I loved watching him navigate all the changes in the world that have happened since he went to sleep. That is a ton of culture shock! I wish I knew more of his backstory, because it sounds super interesting.
Susie is sassy as hell, and the banter between the two of them is fantastic! The breakup with her ex is rough, but she is making the best of it. I can totally vibe with that, and she takes all the crazy changes in stride.
I felt like the romance moved lightning fast, and it would have been nice for them to get to know each other a little more before diving in. It was really sweet though, and the spice was great. I liked the side characters too, and would love to see some of them get their own books someday.
Overall this is a lighthearted quick read, and I think it would be great for summer traveling.
4.25 stars. This story is dual POV, well written, and a fast-paced, sweet and steamy, soulmates, contemporary fantasy romance between Susie, the female human lead, who is recovering from a philandering ex boyfriend, and Raoul, the male vampire lead, who had a friend enchant him to sleep for three centuries because he was struggling with boredom and is trying to discern why he woke early. I enjoyed Susie’s confidence on giving her ex the boot and refusing to listen to his wheedling. I was amused by Raoul’s grumpiness as he woke unexpectedly. I enjoyed his kindness to Susie. I enjoyed his protective care and speedy adaptation to the modern world. I enjoyed the developing relationship, including the steamy intimate scenes. I enjoyed Susie’s response to the Others in the world. I enjoyed her decisiveness around her future.
I received a complimentary copy from the author and this is my voluntary honest review.
This story started with a funny meet cute. A woman wakes a vampire in the catacombs. Shrieks reaction and Raoul's confusion were funny. Raoul's has slept for over two hundred years, the changes to Paris staggers him. Susie helps reintroduce him to this new world. Along the way there is a conflict that involves shifters. The story glances over the relationship that is supposed to develop between the MCs. In what appears to be two days they are declaring their love. She never even asked why he chose to sleep for 300 yrs. She knew nothing about him. Susie agreed to the mating just so she could sleep with him, there was no real heartfelt feelings. The actual bonding was tepid. This book should have been longer to give it more substance and tie things up. The reader is left with several unanswered questions. The writing was choppy at times. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Vacation with the Vampire is part of the multi author Monsters and Margaritas series, and another short, sweet, and sensuous novella.
FMC Susie has come to Paris alone as a middle finger to her ex who had run off with his secretary. The trip had already been paid for and she planned on making the most of it!
Its while touring the catacombs and loosing her way that she discovers a mind altering remnant from the past after noisily tripping and waking… a vampire?
A vampire named Raoul who finds her fascinating and who knows she will now need his protection because he wasn’t the only one to wake!
Enjoyed their story which entertained as one ancient vampire and one sassy human find their way to unexpected love amid some drama, humor, and plenty of steam in what is a nicely written story that did find its happily ever after.

“I have loved you for a span of time that defies reason. For moments I did not yet understand, for dreams I could not name.” His forehead rested against mine, dark eyes burning. “And now that I do… I find myself utterly unwilling to exist without you.”
Suzie, the fmc character caught her fiancée cheating so she goes alone in a vacation to Paris. In a tour to the catacombs she falls straight into a slumbering vampire.... Raoul, the mmc is a haughty and aristocrat vampire in a deep sleep for 200 ys. A rich and imaginative novella about fate uniting two soulmates and with an unexpected twist. I had a lot of fun with these two, she's a modern american woman,he's an aristocrat,a bit snob and leads to a delicious banter.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Susie is separated from her tour group in the Paris catacombs. Disoriented and lost, she wanders through a door and finds herself in a dusty room. Obviously, the man in the outdated suit climbing out of the crypt is a cosplayer. Everyone knows that vampires don’t exist. His fangs sure are realistic.
Raoul went to sleep three centuries ago, bored with the world. Why is he awake, and who is this annoying American? How did she get past the wards protecting his secret chamber? He could compel her to forget him. He could kill her and silence her babbling. Instead, he wants to keep her close and protect her.
Nothing better than a dreamy vampire romance with a few villains thrown in for excitement. I received an advance copy, but my review is honest and voluntary.
Vala Stone has yet to disappoint me in her storytelling, and it certainly won't start with this book! I had truly enjoyed this from start to finish, loving the light, easy, and humorous vibe of this book with its dash of mystery and spice. I found myself giggling every now and then with the amusing moments between the main characters Raoul and Susie, while at the same time being intrigued by the mysterious side characters - a brooding gargoyle and a grumpy necromancer! I love how brave Susie was at having to realize vampires are real because she's awakened one from his 300-yr slumber, and I was amused by Raoul's fascination with the world that has so dramatically changed since he last lived in it.
For sure, I had a fantastic time devouring this book, which makes me so grateful to have been given a free and advanced review copy of it. I thus offer this review voluntarily.
This is the latest book in the Monsters and Margaritas series and it was such a fun and entertaining paranormal romance. The story had a great mix of humor, tension, romance, and supernatural drama that made it really easy to get pulled into. I loved the chemistry between the two MCs because it felt playful and intense at the same time, and the vampire hero had that perfect mix of charm and danger. The pacing kept things moving nicely, and the vacation setting added a fun escape vibe to the whole story. The spice definitely added extra heat without overshadowing the emotional connection between the characters. A few parts felt slightly rushed, but overall this was a really enjoyable 4 star read that was hard to put down.

This story is super exciting, and scorching hot. The characters are awesome it makes you want your own sexy vampire! Susie traveled to Paris alone. Because a few weeks earlier she had caught her boyfriend cheating on her. They were supposed to take the romantic trip together. Since it was a nonrefundable trip Susie went on it alone. While there she took the tour of the catacombs. She got lost from the tour group ,and came across a shocking discovery. This is when she meets the sexy vampire Raoul. Raoul had a Warlock put him to sleep for three hundred years. Only for some reason Susie finding him woke him up early. He discovers he is very protective of her. His mind tells him she is his fated soulmate! This is a five star plus exciting, and scorching hot story.
I liked Raoul and Susie. They feel like real people, and the secondary characters are interesting too. The conflict was well written, there’s a couple plot twists that I think were very well done. I don’t want to say much about the villains because it will spoil the story, but the stakes feel high enough, and the action scenes were okay. The ending was kind of open, and I hope the story continues with Thibault’s book, because the supernatural politics in Paris did sound interesting. I like Vala Stone’s writing style, I just wish the “fish out of water” part when Raoul wakes up would have lasted longer, there were some funny situations because of that. Plus Raoul is blond. I'm a sucker for a blond MMC. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
"Mine. The thought came unbidden, but it stayed, nestling inside my chest and slowly blooming into a greater understanding."
When Susie finds her fiance in flagrante with another woman in her own apartment, she breaks off the engagement but still goes on the honeymoon to Paris alone. On a tour of the Catacombs, she accidentally wakes up one of the sleeping dead - Raoul, an ancient vampire - much earlier than his planned 300-year slumber wake-up date. Initially angry and alarmed, Raoul soon realises that Susie was possibly meant to wake him.
"I have loved you for a span of time that defies reason. For moments I did not yet understand, for dreams I could not name. And now that I do...I find myself utterly unwilling to exist without you."
Susie is an independent, modern woman, but faced with Raoul, whose protective instincts rose to the fore where she's concerned, it's difficult not to swoon! I loved the way he cared for her and put her above everything else. He was quick to adapt and I just absolutely loved his suaveness.
This was a great, sexy little read as Susie discovers a whole other world amongst us, as well as a love that was always meant to be.
This was a fun, fast paced fated love story set in the most romantic city in earth.
Susie is vacationing alone in Paris after catching her ex cheating on her. After getting lost in the catacombs she stumbles across an arresting, though strangely dressed, man.
Raoul is a vampire who has been awakened early from what was supposed to be a 300 year slumber. Despite the cultural and time differences, Susie and Raoul find themselves irresistibly drawn to each other.
Vacation with the Vampire is cute, spicy and full of mysterious and magical side characters. Thank you Vala Stone and Booksirens for the opportunity to advance read.
This was an adorable enjoyable romantic adventure story that's about Susie and Roaul our vampire. Susie broke up with her cheating fiancé after catching him cheating with her bestie and decided to use their honeymoon trip to Paris that she paid for. Susie decides to do the Catacombs tour and gets lost. She accidently awakens Roaul our vampire who was sleeping and something else. What occurs next is an engaging story as their chemistry simmers and action and intrigue flows in this delightful copy I'd received and volunteer to read and review.
'Vacation with the Vampire is part of the Monsters and Margaritas shared author series. It features one ancient vampire and a vacation goer looking for distractions, not romance.'
The characters were very appealing and likeable and absolutely perfect together. Plot was intriguing and exciting and well paced. World building was excellent and impressive. Thoroughly enjoyed and highly recommend.

Vacation with the Vampire by Vala Stone is a part of the Monsters and Marguerias series. Susie catches her fiance cheating and decides to go to Paris without him, but people are after her. While touring the catacombs, she enters a part off the grid and awakens a Vampire, Raoul, who protects her from werewolves, bear shifters, and her warlock ex! Raoul and she enjoy the rest of her vacation and beyond as they are soul mates with matching magical tatoos!.

This is another fun addition to this multi-author series and I loved seeing how flustered vampire Raoul was upon getting unexpectedly woken by Susie. I love that she wasn't interested in canceling her vacay, despite breaking up with her cheating ex. You go, girl! However, she didn't expect to wake Raoul... Expect to get caught up in this entertaining read that has Raoul lost in our modern times, but showcases his old world mannerisms. So fun! There is drama and danger, in here, too, but the fated mates romance was really the icing on this reading cake and I loved it :D
Really enjoyed this book. FMC took a trip to Paris that she was supposed to take with her now ex after she caught him cheating 2 weeks earlier. Little did she know she would quite literally stumble upon a whole world full of magical beings while she was there. MMC is a vampire who was peacefully sleeping under magical protection for 3 centuries until he was woken early by someone stumbling in. Love these characters and their story. This was such a fun read!
