Seduction in Session

Rate this book
The second Perfect Gentlemen novel from the New York Times bestselling authors of the Masters of Ménage series.

Privileged, wealthy, and wild: they are the Perfect Gentlemen of Creighton Academy. But the threat of a scandal has one of them employing his most deceptive—and seductive—talents…

Recruited into the CIA at a young age, Connor Sparks knows how dirty the world can be. Only when he’s with his friends can he find some peace. So when an anonymous journalist threatens one of the Perfect Gentlemen, Connor vows to take down the person behind the computer, by whatever means necessary—even if it means posing as his target’s bodyguard.

Publishing a tabloid revealing Washington’s most subversive scandals has earned Lara Armstrong the ire of the political scene—and a slew of death threats.  To keep herself from ending up a headline, Lara hires a bodyguard, a man as handsome as he is lethal.

When the bullets start to fly, Lara is surprised to find herself in Connor’s arms. But as they begin to unravel a mystery that just might bring down the White House, Lara is devastated when she discovers Connor’s true identity—and finds herself at the mercy of forces who will stop at nothing to advance their deadly agenda.

I am a ruthless bastard, but if you let me, I'll be your ruthless bastard."

I'm a huge fan of Shayla Black and Lexi Blake individually, but when these two combine their talents into a series? Fire. Works. This just may be my favorite series by them yet. And having read their entire backlists individually and combined, that's no light statement. Espionage, action, suspense, and a romance so hot it burns up the pages, all woven intricately together to make up one incredible page-turner!

Connor Sparks has always been the odd man out in The Perfect Gentleman group. He didn't come from money or prestige. His past is troubled and his future is shrouded in shadows. The CIA offered him the answer to his future and he took it with open arms. He's built a reputation for himself in the years since and he's known for being the man that gets things done no matter the cost.

An assignment to play babysitter to a spoiled and naive woman in order to get close to a threat looming over The Perfect Gentleman is not his ideal, but he'll do it. Even if he has to pretend to be her bodyguard. But Lara Anderson is nothing what he expected and everything he soon comes to crave. It's not long before lust turns into something much more and leaves Connor rethinking where his loyalties lie when the bullets start flying.

I was a little afraid at first that Lara would get on my nerves. She's not exactly the kind of heroine I prefer to read about; a vegan that even attempts to put her dog on a diet. She's idealistic and at times naive and some of the things that come out of her mouth left me somewhere between laughter and 'did she really say that'?
Yes. I think that's a very good plan. Let's form a friendship circle and talk this out. That will bring Connor into the group and make him feel comfortable.

That was not said in jest either.

But then something happened and she began to grow on me. I began to find her...endearing. It's a true testament of an author's talent to take a character that by all rights would never work for me in any other book and yet make it work.

Connor was a dangerous enigma. He's sexy, protective, a little grumpy, and so alpha I think my ovaries actually sighed in happiness. When he releases his full effect on Lara, I was putty in his hands. This is a man that falls hard and knows when he screwed up. I spent the book waiting for that other shoe to drop when Lara figures out he's not quite who he says he is and for his grovel. I can tell you that it did not disappoint.

Seduction in Session was everything I've come to love with both these authors; it's action packed, with richly developed secondary characters, and an absolutely sizzling romance. This is not a book meant to be read as a standalone as each book builds off of the last with the story arc. While the romance has a HEA there is clearly unfinished business with the main threat against this group and I'm already twitching for the next book. Considering the set up for Dax's book, I already know I'll be salivating for his story. Hard.

Yet another addition from two of my favorite authors and I recommend it for any lovers of sexy romantic suspense. It will definitely not disappoint.

Opposites attract with fiery hot chemistry in this installment of The Perfect Gentlemen series, and I devoured this addictive story! Lara was the sweet, “fairy princess” with a pure heart, and Connor was the gruff, protective, alpha male.

The Perfect Gentlemen
are a tight knit group of friends, each have grown up into power and riches, but have always been loyal, sticking together like brothers. Connor, the “scholarship” kid went into the CIA after graduating, and spent so much of his life doing whatever it took to keep his friends and country safe that he’s become cynical. He doesn’t believe Lara Armstrong could run an exposé type blog like Capitol Scandals without malicious intent. Lara covertly runs Capitol Scandals, a news blog that uncovers governmental corruption. She comes to the attention of The Gentlemen when an informant hints at Lara having information on two of The Gentlement: Zack, the current US President, and Maddox, who was murdered (in the last book). When someone starts sending threats to Lara, it gives Connor the perfect excuse to insert himself into her life as her bodyguard all the while snooping for information. However, when he meets Lara, with her big crusading heart, Connor begins to see her motives are sincere.

Lara’s passionate with her causes and determination to expose injustice, but she never thought she’d feel passionate in love. While engaged, she never felt the overwhelming attraction and lust she feels every time Connor looks at her. He’s not the sort of man she’d ever pick: caveman, carnivore, rough around the edges, and bossy! But he’s direct and honest (with his heart, at any rate) and Lara senses underneath all the hardness is a man who craves love and affection.

Shayla Black and Lexi Blake wrote multilayered, imperfect characters, and it was impossible not to love the sweet and idealistic, Lara. Even though I thought Connor was kind of a jerk at times, his heart was mostly in the right place, and I couldn’t help but love him, too. Delicious push and pull between Lara and Connor built steam making their romance wickedly hot! I do love a bossy alpha male!

The mystery behind Lara’s threats provided exciting thrills and suspense, and I wondered who could be behind it all. Nice to be surprised! There was a little progress with the continuing investigation into Mad’s death, and a few surprising revelations about Zack’s murdered wife, Joy. I can’t wait for Zack’s story, but Dax’s story is up next. After reading what happened in his past, his second chance romance is going to be a bumpy road!

Connor Sparks was recruited by the CIA right as he was graduating from prep school and preparing for college. He’s still close to his friends and part of the group known as The Perfect Gentlemen, especially since they accept his secretiveness about his covert activities. When Lara Armstrong, the blogger responsible for the Capitol Scandals site, threatens to bring down the Zack Hayes presidency with explosive information, Conner goes undercover as her bodyguard to figure out what she has. He didn’t count on falling for Lara and things get complicated. And, there’s another threat that puts them both in serious danger.

I’m very intrigued by the continuing mystery arc of the series and it ramps up significantly in this story. More information is revealed that makes the situation even more complex as “Deep Throat” makes another appearance and the Russian mob continues their pursuit. It’s far from solved or resolved as Lara’s information adds another layer of suspense.

Unfortunately, Connor and Lara’s romance was a fail for me, primarily because so much of it was an outgrowth of his duplicity, something I couldn’t forget as their relationship deepened. It didn’t help either that Connor was so awful to Lara. Fortunately, the suspense was enough to keep me engaged, bolstered by the outstanding narration of Kaleo Griffith. I’m happy I opted to listen to the series as he smoothes out the rough edges I found troubling. There are also a couple of nifty little twists at the end that left me excited about continuing on to the next book. These men are far from perfect but it’s also what sets these stories apart.

UPDATED with additional read dates and info.

Damn I love this series. This book is probably my favorite, as is Connor. Though Roman is a close second.

He'd looked for a home all his life, bought grand houses and told himself he'd made it. Home wasn't a place. It was her. It was her and her fugly dog and her fairy princess ideas that were making him a better person.....

Connor Sparks (38-ish, CIA, killer, I love him) heads to DC after "Deep Throat" told Everly that the woman who runs the gossip site, Capitol Scandals, has information on Maddox's death. Connor sets a trap for Lara Armstrong (26, hippie, vegan, delusional optimist), and the fact that she's started receiving death threats is convenient for him since he's the best man in the world to protect her. He believes she's just a spoiled rich girl with nothing better to do than spread lies about Maddox and Zack, and he's determined to take her down and will do anything to achieve that.

No woman would ever look at him as if he was the sun in her sky. He wasn't a blessed American prince like the rest of the Perfect Gentlemen. He was the monster who protected them. He bought his way into their world with blood. She was a fairy princess who'd figured out that she had invited the beast to her breakfast table.

As he gets to know the real Lara, he realizes he had it all wrong - and that changes EVERYTHING. Even though Lara is the exact opposite of Connor, he develops feelings for her that he never knew he was capable of. Too bad for him that he's keeping a HUGE secret from her, and when she finds out - BOOM. The longer they're together, the more mysteries develop. Now they're not only looking into who killed Maddox, but how the Russian's are involved, the sex trafficking scandal, who's trying to kill Lara, who Deep Throat is, and how they're all linked to back to the president.

For almost two decades, he'd thought he was nothing but a gun with a hair trigger waiting to mow down anyone who could hurt him. Not Lara. She was both his weakness and his strength, And, just maybe, she was his salvation.

I'm telling you - this series is EPIC. Freaking love it so so so much.

SEX: Doesn't happen until the 44% mark, but it's good, especially if you’re smart enough to listen to the audio. Now I want to listen again just for that specific reason.

CONNOR: I freaking LOVE Connor. There's nothing better than a coldhearted man who learns to love. Plus, watching Connor integrate himself into Lara’s hippie/vegan world is HILARIOUS. By far the funniest book in the series. I laughed so hard.

LARA: When I say Lara is naïve, I really mean it. She's the animal rights protestor, save the whales, make the world a better place kind of person. She’s like sunshine on crack. She also believes that everyone is good and wants to help them all. I feel like a lot of people won't like her because she seems too optimistic, but I love her. As Connor points out, we need people like Lara in the world. She balances out all of us pessimists.
What would happen to her if he wasn't around? She could get into serious trouble, and he doubted she would properly defend herself. She would try to bring out her flipping talking stick and form a trust circle around her attacker.

FREDDY: I love him, and you'll see why. I need a Freddy in my life. FYI... in the audiobook, the voice for Freddy is somewhat manlier. I could envision him being sexy. In the following audiobooks, the narration for Freddy is nerdy. Like I imagine him living in his mom's basement kind of nerdy.

AUDIO: I HIGHLY recommend the audio. I’ve read them and it’s just not the same. Books 1-3 are narrated by Kaleo Griffith and he’s got a SEXY fucking voice. That said, his female voice leaves a lot to be desired. Especially for Lara. All things considered, having him voice Connor is worth it.

Honestly, I can't say anything bad about this book. I wouldn't change a thing.

4 Connor oh my stars

Seduction in Session is a standalone and is part of The Perfect Gentlemen series. The thing that I really like about this series is that each Hero in the series is completely different. I also like that all the Heroes are friends and all of them are in the each story.

Six guys went to the same prep school together, Gabe, Dax, Connor, Zach, Roman and Maddox (Mad). This is Connor’s story.

Connor to me is the “good guy”. He was recruited in the CIA and now he guards. He’s strong, an alpha male and doesn’t really play around. Okay, he plays around, but he’s serious about his job.

Lara runs a scandalous tabloid. She focuses on political news and her job is to expose. She’s strong, sassy and very determine. Her father is high in politics, but that doesn’t stop her from doing what she loves. Now, Lara’s life is endangered and Connor is tasked to protect her.

I really liked the banter between Connor and Lara, both have such strong personalities, you could cut the tension with a knife. Of course you know I love my damsel in distress storyline and who doesn’t love a Hero body guard, especially a brute of one that forces Lara to pretend to be his girlfriend so it doesn’t seem odd he’s around her all the time. I know cute story line right?

Seduction in Session is jam pack filled to the brim with stuff. It’s a huge book and you will be guessing to the end. There’s a lot that goes on and Shayla Black and Lexi Blake take you on for a wild ride. If you are a fan of the series, you will not be disappointed.

Not bad! The story line is what really has me. I'm very much intrigued with the "who done it" and what's going on behind the scenes. The love story was a bit much for me. I'm kind of over the whole "Alpha Male" thing. I know, I know, but like I said, I'm very much into the plot line and the whole Mafia thing.

Woo! Seduction in Session. Loved it. Even if they made me want to shake em about about it was a wonderful romance tinged with danger and full of delicious heat. Blake & Black are a dangerous duo when it comes to raising heart rates and droppin' panties. lol Their heroes are delicious!

Okay the quick of it is that one of Connor's best friends was killed in an accident he's sure was suspicious and the rest of their group of friends is trying to figure out what happened. And now the info trail has led them to a tabloid reporter they're sure knows something that will lead them to the truth. It's Connor's job to get close and find out what all she knows. His in? Someone else knows about her secret profession and her life is at risk. Who better to protect her than a CIA spook who will do anything and everything to find out what happened to his friend and protect those in his care?

Okay so these two. They're so very opposite in many ways. Connor's a realist, matter of fact, and doesn't get involved with people. Year's doing the country's dirty work have left him hard and emotionally isolated. And Lara? She's, as he put it, a psychopathic cheerleader. An idealist who always has a cause to fight and opens her arms to everyone. She's naive to say the least. Hrms. Can you guess who I had problems with? lol

Yeah. Lara and I struggled despite having some things in common. She's a vegan, loves animals, etc. But she's so damn naive and is the type that gives vegetarians/vegans a bad name--ex, forcing her dog onto a vegan diet. I just. Seriously, girl? I didn't hate her though. Amazingly! She's passionate (if misguided), trusting (to the point of danger sometimes) and tries to be a good person. I did like seeing her come around and realize some of her flaws. Connor on the other hand, I loved. He's a good guy despite thinking he's tainted by everything he's done in life. He's a realist which I can relate to. He's this scary huge alpha male but there was kindness and flexibility in him too as he dealt with all of her causes, strict opinions and her little dog

I actually really liked these two together and watching their romance unfold. They balanced each other out. She brought back some of his humanity and he grounded her. I love that. The chemistry was great between them too and while it's not what I'd call an erotic romance it's got some luscious steamy bits.

There's some real nice suspense that's almost two front. There's a treat against Lara and trying to figure out how to keep her safe while figuring out who is gunning for her but there's also the mystery of murder in Connor's inner circle of friends. There's action and curious connections that kept me on my toes and excited about what will happen next. I do think this series should be read in order but it's not 100% necessary. Each has a complete HEA with a new couple but there's a strong underlying mystery tying all of the books together.

All in all, another win from Black & Blake. These ladies are a fierce writing duo.

~~~~~~~~
10/5 OMG it is in. my. hands. right this second! So damn tempted to skip over all my other review books left for 2015 and read this one right now. The temptation. It kills me.
~~~~~~~
Want it. Want it. Gonna need it! Gah. I can't wait for this one. Seduction in Session out Jan 5th, 2016. That's just...painful! Gonna be so hard to wait. lol

I'm not going to lie and say that I expect a lot from these guilty pleasure books...but I still expect something good! I loved how the first book mixed a Mystery/Thriller story into the Romance, and especially how it's ongoing through the series, with each book essentially adding to the puzzle. However the two leads in this book were awful. From the backstory you expect Lara to be a smart, educated, and somewhat worldly woman given what she is up to and who her father is. But no, she goes beyond naive into ridiculously stupid territory. And she does it again and again and again. And Connor's damaged upbringing and psychological issues should have been interesting but no, he just comes across as an epic asshole. So while the Mystery elements are interesting and the reason for the 2 stars, everything else was pretty awful.

This is the second book in this romantic suspense series and I’m completely into the mystery and action part of this book. I like the trying to figure out who is behind things and why.

I did this as an audio book and I love a sexy book as much as the next guy, but I’m not sure I was really enjoying the narrating on this. It is pretty over the top with the whole alpha male thing and although I don’t really mind that normally, this was a bit much even for me.

I will absolutely be going on with the series since the storyline of betrayal, scandal, temptation and dishonesty is so fascinating and intriguing……..I’m eating it up!

This book continues the mystery from the first book with the romance between Lara and Connor. Connor is one of the 6 guys who are best friends and are known to be gentleman but Connor is different from them, while his friends grew up with a silver spoon on their mouth, he grew up in a trailer park with an addicted mother and no trace of his father until he gets scholarship in a prep school where he meets his friends Mad, Dax, Roman, Gabe and Zack. Years later now their friendship is still strong but after Mad’s death the guys are set out to find the killer who murdered their best friend and for that Connor has to pretend to be someone else and befriend to Lara who is the daughter of a rich man. She is known to be naive and kinda spoiled as she thinks she can make the world a better place. Connor starts of by being her bodyguard but soon he realises she is the one who can tame his darkness.

Lara and Connor might be my favourite couple from this book cuz I absolutely love them. They are so freaking different from each other but that didnt stop them from falling in love with one another. I thought lara would get on my nerves cuz she can be really naive yet she is strong and sticks to her words, she did annoy me a little but i loved how selfless she was and helped other people while Connor on the other hand, i mean i wanted to hate him for lying to Lara about his identity but i also understood why he did that, He is a secret agent who had to find out information that Lara knows to save his friends. He is sexy, protective and he loved lara a lot. I didnt want her to forgive him so easily after knowing the truth and i wanted her to make him feel really guilty and she did hold on a grudge at him for lying to her but then eventually forgave him which i also did like cuz she understood the reason why he had to lie. I love the friendship bond between the guys, i am so addicted to this series that i cant stop and the suspense is the bonus that why did someone kill Mad. I want more Lara and Connor!! I cant get over them, i felt that their story towards the end was a bit rushed but the chemistry was 🙌🔥🔥....i still feel like she shouldnt have forgiven him 😂 atleast make him pay for a 100 years but other than that I enjoyed reading about this couple and knowing more about the secrets that will continue on the next book which is about Dax.

Deep Throat 1 and Deep Throat 2 and the Text Stalker and the Russians and who knows who else are all after Lara Armstrong, Senator's daughter, Political Blogger and conspiracy theorist who firmly believes that Zach Hayes killed his wife to win the Presidential election and is up to evil doings in the White House.

Suspended CIA operative, Connor Sparks, one of Zach's best friends, is out to stop her before she can do any real damage to the President. One, itty, bitty problem: He has fallen in love with her and will protect her at any cost. It's all good, she loves him too, except she has no clue who he really is. When she finds out, all bets are off.

I love Lexi Blake. There, I said it. Her writing is great and I love 99% of her characters and her plots are interesting.
This book centers around Connor, CIA agent extraordinaire, and Lara, frigging naïve chick. Connor wants to find out what Lara has against his friends and if she knows anything about Mad’s death(from book 1). The best way to find that out is to infiltrate her life. He poses as a bodyguard that Lara’s cyber friend recommends and then, like 5 minutes after they meat, he saves her life. Chaos ensures and after making an executive decision Connor decides he’ll pose as her boyfriend. As you might have guessed Lara fights it at first, but then her dad gets involved and he agrees with Connor so she caves. Lots of mishaps and fights and chemistry fighting follows.
Connor isn’t a bad dude. He thinks he is, but he’s not. He loves his friends and he’ll do anything for them, and I mean anything(see last chapters of book 1), even if that means that they won’t look the same at him again. He’s blindsided by his need to protect Lara and obviously he fights it. Even after they sleep together he doesn’t want to want her anymore, even though her realizes it’s a lost fight. He starts respecting her more and more and he comes to the conclusion that she’s not some power hungry, spoiled chick and he decides he’s going to keep her. Just like that. Obviously he won’t tell her the whole truth about him(BTW that’ll get him into a LOT of trouble).
Lara is a nice chick and all but dude she drove me CRAZY! When she figuratively climbed her soap box I just wanted to slap her around. Seriously, that woman could make a saint want to murder her. Ignoring that, she’s not that bad. She has a large circle of friends(that she doesn’t know that well, unfortunately for her), likes helping people any way she can and as Connor said she has “a pathological cheerleading gene”(not a direct quote). My favorite lines from the book were between her and Roman(one of Connor’s friends), I still lough every time I read that:
Lara whirled on Roman. “Do you know how many hungry children that suit could feed?”
Roman put a hand on his suit as though protecting the precious material from Lara. “Um, none. They would likely get very sick if they ate this suit. Children aren’t supposed to eat wool.”
All in all this is a solid installment in the “Perfect Gentlemen” series by Lexi Blake and Shayla Black and I can’t wait to find out everything!

Cold and deadly, CIA agent Connor Sparks will use every weapon at his disposal to protect his only family - the Perfect Gentlemen. Thus, when DC blogger, Lara Armstrong, threatens one of his childhood friends, Connor manipulates his way into her life as a bodyguard. But, the danger to Lara soon becomes more tangible, and Connor might have to decide between the woman he has come to care for and the men he considers his brothers.

Unfortunately, Connor and Lara's romance leaves much be desired. Connor's lies and deceit do not present him in a positive light. He is often overbearing and domineering, and some of his actions are cruel and abusive - definitely not hero material.

Lara isn't much better. She has got to be one of the most gullible women on the planet! It is difficult to believe that an intelligent investigative journalist with the ability to uncover some of Washington's most notorious political scandals would willingly accept the obvious lies coming out of Connor's mouth.

Despite these issues, the ongoing story arc is very compelling, and the twists and turns of the conspiracy surrounding the Perfect Gentlemen make this a worthwhile read.

The next book focuses on Dax and his former lover, NCIS agent Holland Kirk. Hopefully, their second chances romance will be better.

These two NEVER quit! Book after book they continue to bring their A-GAME! I just LOVED every single thing about this installment of the INCREDIBLY ENTICING and heavily addictive Perfect Gentlemen series! After finishing up book 1 of the series, I couldn't WAIT to get my hands on Connor's book. These ladies create some pretty fantastic alpha males, but I think it's safe to say, Connor is definitely at the top of my favorite hero list.

This provocative romance was laced with passion, danger, and suspense. It kept me on my toes and had me grinning from ear to ear. It riddled me with angst, and at the same time, calmed me with affection and devotion. There was intensity and fervor. There was witty banter and an addicting push-pull between our hero and heroine. A couple who can fight their attraction all day long, but at the end of the day, what they had, was something you can't deny.

These two...THESE TWO...Ugh! I love both of the main characters, Lara and Connor. They were so incredibly delicious together. He craved control in all things, and she made him lose control. Spicy and intriguing, wouldn't you say?

As the ending drew near, my heart beat with avid anticipation. Once again, Black and Blake hooked me with their solid writing, their intensified storyline, the character's crazy palpable chemistry, and the emotions that were flew off the pages. The Perfect Gentlemen series continues to get better and better. I wait with bated breath for the next seductive installment of this fabulous series.

Connor Sparks knows how dirty the world can be and the only time he can find peace is with his friends, so when they are threatened, he vows do take them down by whatever means necessary even posing as his target’s bodyguard in this thrilling romantic suspense.

Lara Anderson’s political tabloid has earned her a slew of death threats and the reader can’t help but become engaged by the story as Lara hires Connor as her bodyguard and sparks and bullets start to fly. The chemistry between Connor and Lara sizzles with intense heat from every page but there are so many secrets and hidden agendas that it will take the escalating danger to get them close to being on the same page which has lots of emotional turbulence flowing throughout the story as well. Strong, captivating characters draw the readers in while the steady to fast paced plot keeps readers on the edge with lots of suspense, excitement and romance.

As discovered in the first book of this series, someone has a deadly agenda and they will stop at nothing to advance that plan no matter how dangerous it may become which means everyone is a target and no one is safe and with unexpected twists adding to the intrigue, the readers are kept guessing right alongside the characters as they try to unravel the mystery. The suspense guarantees that the readers continue to turn the pages while the well written scenes and details make it easy for the readers to become entrapped in all the excitement and confusion.

Lara and Connor make a dynamic couple who’s energy flew from the pages as they each had tried their best to keep their goals front and center without giving in to their desires and as more of the plot against The Perfect Gentlemen unfolds, the more I want to know, so I can’t wait to read the next one.

Seduction in Session is the second book in their Perfect Gentlemen series by this duo author series by Shayla Black and Lexi Blake. After reading the first book, I was super stoked to read Seduction in Session. What I like about these books is that one you NEED to read this series in order, and seeing this mystery and political intrigue over the whole series, so in each book we are given more clues to the mystery behind everything. In Seduction in Session we have Connor's Book. For those new to this series, the Perfect Gentlemen series is about six men that formed a friendship when they were teenagers and help protect each other and have a very close bond.
Life was a lot like a poker game. A smart man didn't play his cards. Instead, he played the players

Seduction in Session begins with Connor, who is the only one of the group that didn't grow up rich. He grew up in a trailer park type of situation and worked hard to get to the boarding school he is at and formed the close friendship with his brothers but he is lacking in the funds for the university they all want to go to together so when he is approached by the CIA to become an agent for them, he agrees. So Connor is a bit of a mystery in the previous book, but he has been working for years as a government agent or also known as a "assassin" for the United States government. He has had to kill and hunt when he is told to. But now he is on leave from the CIA, So perfect time to go undercover and find out what a certain journalist of a political website has on the President (who is also a member of the Perfect Gentlemen) because they need to find out the truth about Zack's nanny and the truth behind Zack's father which is leading towards something involving a group of Russian's. But Lara is not the normal woman he is used to. Lara is vegan, runs a magazine she believes in and is close to her family even if they have very different views in politics. But when Lara's life is put in danger, Connor acts as her boyfriend to protect her and thus begins a sexy affair between Connor and Lara. But Connor knows that Lara has information that he needs to protect his best friend but soon love gets involved in this dangerous game that he is playing, and if he doesn't come clean to Lara about his intentions he could lose her forever....
I am a ruthless bastard, but if you let me, I'll be your ruthless bastard

Seduction in Session is the second book of the series and even though I didn't quite enjoy it as much as book one, I still had a fun time with this book. I did find the heroine a bit odd and hard to relate to. She is very self-righteous and judgmental in many ways so I had a hard time with her character at times, but she definitely grew on me. I did love how passionate she is about her beliefs and she stands by them and I respected that about her. And Lara is Vegan and those are so rare in romance but I did like seeing that she begins to learn to not judge others when she meets Connor. She begins to become more understanding of others and accepting even if they are different from her. What I really enjoyed about Lara was her kindness and her love for others. She has such a good heart that isn't touched by the evils of the world and I love how she stays true to herself and never loses hope in what she believes.
No. I said before that the world needs people like me, but it needs people like you, too. It needs people who believe in the good. It needs fairy princesses who see the bad yet still believe in the good. I need you to be Lara, to find it in your heart to forgive a man who lied to you, who betrayed you, and who will spend the rest of his life loving you completely.

There are some fabulous sexy times that happen between Connor and Lara. I have to say that Shayla Black and Lexi Blake write some great sexy moments and it shows in the intimate moments between Connor and Lara. We do see a level of trust between Connor and Lara even if they are working in secret against each other. Connor is seeking to protect his friend and find the truth, and Lara is wanting some dirt on the President for her website. She does find something of value against Zack (The President, hero of book five) about the death surrounding his wife and this definitely will bring the five men together and Lara is shown the truth and value of what she does and that there is more to Connor and his friends and as the mystery of Zack's nanny and the Russians comes into play, Lara and Connor will have to work out their differences and secrets become revealed and this book shows that love is powerful to overcome the dishonesty and trust issues that they both have to learn to overcome.

Overall I found Seduction in Session to be a powerful portrayed romance that brings together some fabulous sexual tension and a unraveling mystery and more depths behind the Perfect Gentlemen and the women who break through their hearts. It's a story packed with suspense, sensuality and emotional growth and guaranteed to leave the reader fully satisfied and wanting more!

Publishing a tabloid style blog about the Washington elite has been Lara Armstrong's passion, to the chagrin of her father, Senator Armstrong, but her desire to write hard-hitting news instead of gossip has put her in the line of fire. When death threats start hitting too close to home, Lara hires bodyguard, Connor Sparks. Connor was recommended to Lara by her online friend Naill, but she soon finds out that Naill is simply Connor's alter ego, and Conner has an agenda of his own - protecting his Perfect Gentlemen brothers.

Seduction in Session is a good second novel in the Perfect Gentlemen series. Connor and Lara are opposites in temperament and just about everything else as well, but they are both likable characters and have a great deal of tangible chemistry between them. The ongoing mystery about the death of Maddox Crawford keeps this book moving and maintains engagement. More information is offered and the illusive Deep Throat is again part of the story. Even though the ending of this book solves the mystery of who has been trying to kill Lara, it is the weakest part of the book and seems to come out of the blue with very few clues leading up to the end that support the solution. However, overall, Seduction in Session is better than Scandal Never Sleeps and is a welcome addition to The Perfect Gentlemen series.

I felt like a lot of this one was predictable with the romance between Connor and Lara. I liked them together, thought they brought out the best in each other and will keep each other grounded.

What kept me reading was the larger story arc with the "Perfect Gentlemen". I liked how the guys interacted, loved that they had a long history, loved that they all are so different in what they choose to do with their lives, yet time and time again they proved they had each others back. With the conspiracy they found out it should make for some fun next books. But what I'm really hoping for and it should come in the last book is that would make the series!

The Perfect Gentlemen are back and we continue our exhilarating ride through D.C. politics and more!

Connor Sparks has always lived in the dark, that’s his job. After Maddox Crawford died, he’s on hiatus from work and has a temporary assignment—guard Lara Armstrong, a journalist, and find out what she knows. If only it could be that easy. Lara was a job, nothing more. But once Connor got to know Lara and her pixie Princess ways, his life was turned upside down.

I don’t know if I could fall faster or farther in love with The Perfect Gentlemen. They are the perfect mix of alpha, dark and brooding, loving, mysterious and caring men. They all have their faults and we forgive them for that, but in reality they just need the love of a good woman. The only way to get there is to fall, stumble, maybe take a bullet or two, and do some racing down dark alleys, right ladies?

Truthfully, I can sum the book up quickly…

Warmth and affection. Forgiveness. Kindness. Love.

That’s what everyone desires and deserves, and that’s what this book is about. Exquisitely done, Shayla and Lexi! I’m ready for the next one! ~ Heather, 5 stars

~~~
Connor Sparks has always lived in the shadows—especially as a CIA agent. He truly only feels at peace in his world when he’s with his friends—The Perfect Gentlemen—that he essentially grew up with at an exclusive boarding school.
When one of The Perfect Gentlemen is threatened, Connor vows to take down the anonymous journalist by any means necessary. Especially when the journalist isn’t anonymous to Connor any more—he’s used his skills and government computer access to find out HER identity. Time to meet your new bodyguard, Lara Armstrong.
Lara Armstrong, daughter of a senator, immune to Washington nastiness—well, unless she’s the one being nasty. President cock length? Inquiring minds want to know. Lara is the brains and body behind an anonymous political blog, but someone has found out who she is and is threatening her. Lara, in a bow to her family and friends’ concerns over her safety, hires a bodyguard. A hot and sexy and lethal bodyguard.
When the threat becomes reality, Connor and Lara are thrust together—literally and figuratively. And they’re finally unravelling the mystery that may bring down the President. But what happens when Connor’s real identity is exposed? And who’s really behind the threats to Lara?
Ooh. A CIA agent and a journalist in a hot and sexy romantic suspense? SIGN. ME. UP. I’ve been (im)patiently waiting for Connor’s story since the first book in this series. Hot, hard, sexy, mysterious Connor lives up to the hype. And Lara’s no doormat either—a bit young and naïve, but strong-willed and hardheaded too. The sparks fly when Connor and Lara are together—sexy sparks and angry sparks. Plus, add in the rest of The Perfect Gentlemen and you really have a perfect story. At least until Dax’s is released next… ~ Missy, 5 stars
j'ai pas vraiment accroché à la romance, Connor et Lara vont pas du tout ensemble et l'attitude de Caveman de Connor est pas ce qu'il y a de plus couinable xD
parcontre je commence à avoir plein de théories sur l'intrigue autour de la mort de Maddox et du Président avec la mafia russe huhuhuh
I really liked Connor and Lara themselves and the way the overarching plot moved along, but several elements of this book have not aged well at all and that certainly affected my overall rating and opinion of this book.
~ 4 Seducing Stars ~
Seduction in Session is the second book in the Perfect Gentleman Series by Shayla Black and Lexi Blake. These books are interconnected Stand alones. Each book is about a new couple but the storyline is a continuing story. I don't believe these books could be read out of order. I truly believe you would be very confused and lost if this series isn't started with the first book (Scandal Never Sleeps)
As with the first book I won't be talking about the storyline much, because it would give too much away.
This book was also another romantic suspense story. I will say that I thought the first book was just slightly better than this one. That is why it wasn't a 5 star read for me. I felt that the suspense and mystery of the storyline was kind of lacking in this book. This one seemed to focus much more on the love story between Connor and Tara and some of the mystery aspect was missing. What I think I missed the most with this book, was the on the edge of my seat feeling that I had throughout the whole book in the first book. Yes we got some nail biting action and I couldn't turn the page fast enough but it wasn't through the whole book and I missed that.
With that said, I still found this to be an enjoyable read and I love where this plot line is going. I also love the characters that brought out in this series. The writing style is still just as great as it was in the first book. These two authors truly have some serious talent and should continue to write book together, because their writing is seamless.
The bond that these 5 guys have is unbreakable. I also love watching each of them grow into better men as we meet the women who, shall we say, "tame" them. In this book we focus on Connor and Tara. You meet Connor in book 1 and Tara is also introduced in book 1 but we finally get to meet her in this book. Connor and Tara's story is somewhat of a catch and mouse game. They both truly fought their feelings for each other. This book was filled with a bunch of angst. The storyline in this book takes off right where things ended in book 1. The questions that were raised in the end of book 1 are answered in this book and some new twists and turns were taken. Connor and Tara's story is a complete one, but just like at the end of book 1 we are left with the start of the next book and who the next couple will be. So yes some new questions are raised that will carry over into book 3. I don't feel that you need to wait for each book to be released before starting this series…the endings just leave you wanting more of this amazing story. I know I am looking forward to Dax's story ;)
Again if you are a fan of the romantic suspense type love story, or just someone looking for something new and different to read, then I would definitely recommend this book/ series. This is one everyone should read.
SEDUCTION IN SESSION By Blake & Black: Good Friends/Bad Friends
http://fangswandsandfairydust.com/201...
Oh, I wish I had so much time to hang out and chat, and fly around the country as do all these billionaires, millionaires, naval personnel and even, gasp!, POTUS!
This is a pet peeve of mine not limited to this book but to any book that portrays people who run businesses and countries as having a lot of free time. Of course, the reality would make for a less interesting book than say the life of one of the CEOs I know who mostly work themselves to the point of exhaustion 7 days a week. Until they retire, and even then they tend to do charity work, or sit on boards.
This is a sexy series of hot, but highly unlikely, stories about prep school pals learning the horrible truths about their friend’s death and how it starts looking more closely into the deaths of others. Part of it involves Russian Immigrants who engage in human trafficking. The new characters are three friends in DC; Lara is the female love interest and blogger and she is apparently really bad at picking friends.
But in this story there’s another, apparently unrelated, plot. It throws up a red herring or two and caught me by surprise. I saw it about the same time as the male love interest did.
Although it is filled with all kinds of pseudo-Washington hi-jinks that could never, ever come to pass, athis book advances the story about the death of one character, and introduces mystery in regards to the death of another. The international intrigue aspect is so shadowy and is too mixed up. It’s like a Russian Manchurian Candidate plot happening at the end of the cold war and probably distinct from the human trafficking. There are several plots and sub-plots; it had my head spinning! And, there’s the online romance between Lara and a “soul mate” on the west coast who she is in love with but who she has not met. This is a woman who grew up in politics and who does social media as an adult. Would she be this stupid?
Kaleo Griffith’s narration of female voices was sickeningly breathy and vapid or like syrup. It was like a man doing the voice of Barbie acting in a porno or imitating a depressed, drunk movie star singing happy birthday to POTUS.
If you have started the series and want to continue this is a no brainer – of course you have to read it!
And they did it again!!!!! LOVEEEEEED Seduction in Session.
I can say that this enticing and addictive series is going to be the death of me! I could not put the book down. Again, I was hooked since the very first page, I could not stop wondering who could be behind it all. I got some answers, but there are still a lot of secrets and I just want to know what is going on *pouts*.
Connor and Lara did not disappoint, their book was everything I was waiting for. Loved Connor since I met him in SNS, but with Lara I went from sceptic to supporter. Her character was a little complicated but the authors managed to make me love her. And together, FIREWORKS!
Seduction in Session is a story filled to the brim with secrets, revelations that will leave you with your mouth dropped, suspense, action, mystery and a romance so hot it burns up the pages. A total page-turner, ladies.
Shayla Blake and Lexi Blake take you on for a wild ride, that keep you guessing till the very end and I did not want it to end.
I can't wait for what this duo has prepared for the next book. Dax is coming and I'm beyond excited to read more about The Perfect Gentlemen.
I don't know, I like books that mix romance and mystery with a little bit of action here and there. And yet, here I am, wondering what went wrong with this one.
When I read the previous book, I liked Connor and was curious about his story; the same happened with Lara, she striked me as a smart person; so I was excitedly waiting this book when I finished the other one.
Connor deserved a better story than this. He was a caveman and rude towards Lara most of the time, so I didn't really like his character and was a little disappointed, since I had another idea of him from the previous book.
And Lara was so pathetic. Once thing is being naive, innocent and trustful and another completely different thing is being stupid. Is a fine line that almost no author can avoid crossing. So I didn't like her either, the only time I found her 'interesting' was when she was doing research, but that's it.
I finished this book because I like the general plot of this series; I hope next book is better.
Like the story, want to read the rest but...
Overall 4 out of 5 stars
Performance 4 out of 5 stars
Story 4 out of 5 stars
Reviewed: 04-30-19
... somehow I’ve been expecting more from this writing duo.
I like the perfect the gentlemen, who aren’t always gentlemanly and definitely not perfect. I like their bond. (But I don’t adore them like I do the McKay-Taggart men)
