Welcome to the Puppy Place--where every puppy finds a home! Charles and Lizzie Peterson love puppies. Their family fosters these young dogs, giving them love and proper care, until they can find the perfect forever home. Lizzie's mom has three of her best friends coming over to visit for a long weekend when the Peterson's get a call about Boomer, a big mixed breed puppy who needs a place to stay. Can Lizzie take care of him without ruining mom's plans?
Per my first graders: It was fun. It was awesome. It was funny. It was amazing. It was good. It was nice. It was a good story. It was cool. (Teacher: How can you compare Stella and Boomer?) FG's: Boomer was at their home and Stella was at Crystal Lake. Dad and Charles and Buddy were in the Stella book. (Students realize that both books are from the same author and part of the same series. Yes!!)
Lizzie is in elementary school. Her family, the Petersons, have a puppy named Buddy plus they foster dogs and help them find homes.
Lizzie is going away for the weekend with her dad, brothers and Buddy so her mother can have some girl time with her best friends from university who are coming for a visit. Just as they are ready to leave, Lizzie gets a call that a boisterous puppy named Boomer needs a place to stay and will be dropped off shortly. Lizzie's mom isn't too happy about this but Lizzie promises to keep the dog out of the way so her mom's weekend isn't ruined. Of course, this doesn't happen.
Though this book is a quick read and directed at elementary-aged children, I found it entertaining. There is a learning experience and a puppy tip at the end. It is written in third person perspective and first person from Boomer's point of view. It is the thirty-seventh in the Puppy Place series, which currently has 66 books in the series, and works as a stand alone.
Super cute book! Made me very nostalgic. I collect the Puppy Place books, and I recently found a Books-A-Million that had a bunch I didn't own. This was the first one that I have read in a few years and I loved it. Super sweet. I always love the endings and I love how there are little bits of puppy care advice sprinkled throughout the stories. Will definitely be reading more of these soon!
This book was just to give me a break from the long heavy books, but what am i supposed to say it's puppy place. It was cute, it has puppies in it, of course it is! It was the same as the other ones, they all have the same plot. It took me a little bit because i was also reading another book.
Boomer ( The Puppy Place #37) was very Funny. Also I it was a bit sad because the mom did had to take him away. I could picture it in my mind when I was reading the book.
I thought the book was good but i do not think it is my type as a fith grader.I learned that you can train a dog any thing.I liked when boomer got Risa dirty.I liked lizzie because she knew that she can train a any thing and she never gave up.I would recommend this book to people who like learning about dogs and people who like dogs or any animal.I would not recomed this book to 5 th graders but 4 yes.

Lizzie fosters a big St. Bernard/Leonberger/GSD mix while her mom hosts a college friend reunion at home. Having a big puppy with one of the snooty college friends does not mix too well.
I absolutely adore every one of these books. They are like Aesop's Fables, where most books have a moral meaning or value behind it.
