Golden Angel is a USA Today best-selling author of heart and bottom warming romance.
She is happily married, old enough to know better but still too young to care, and a big fan of happily-ever-afters, strong heroes and heroines, and sizzling chemistry.
When not in front of her computer writing, she can be found sewing her next project, hanging out with friends, or wandering the grounds of the Maryland Renaissance Festival.
Security & Submission is a fun, k*ky, Romantic Suspense book by Golden Angel that I absolutely ADORED! This is my first book by her, but it definitely will not be my last.
Yasmin the female main character is a young Indian woman, Yasmin Jafari, who keeps getting set up to go out on dates by her parents until she realizes that she is cursed. This last time, her parents arranged a marriage, and the young man agreed. When Yasmin realized he was in love with the baker set up to be their caterer, Yasmin willingly let him go and Madison and Audrey happily married, which is when Yasmin decided she must be cursed and that she wasn't dating anyone else.
So Yasmin meets Zeus during their meet cute - I'm not even telling y'all about because it is a comedy of errors, so many things happen, you won't even believe it until you read it! But along the way, Yasmin accumulates a dog named Hope, and somehow meets Zeus.
Zeus, the mmc, is FABULOUS! When he meets Yasmin he has been through a series of bad luck, his former girlfriend cheated on him with his former boss but not because of his own bad behavior.
He and Yasmin have decided to get the surgery Hope needs so that his neighbor can keep her. Yasmin is at home with Hope when some drunk, angry man starts trying to knock her door down. It turns out Yas teaches classes at an abused Women's shelter, and the drunk man found Yas' business card in his soon to be ex-wife's things.
Even though many could see this book as predictable, I found it to be fun, breathtaking, super sexy, and definitely a series I want to continue on in. Golden has a wonderful way in writing suspense that blends in comedy, and sexiness, and makes me wants to know all the characters that are side characters.
This was definitely a five star for me, and now I have to go back and start at the beginning of the series!!
*I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review *
Security and Submission is out in the world and I'm SO loving how much people are loving it! Zeus and Yasmine are two of my favorites - and not just because their meet-cute was based on my real life accidental dog theft LOL
It is impossible to describe how much I enjoyed this book. Yasmine has a fairly rigid point of view of her own social life. Zeus is always feeling rejected. The hilarious situations and characters are so well written, and I really enjoyed every moment of reading this book. I believe you can read this as a stand alone. If this is the first book you read by this author, you, will still have a great read. There are Easter eggs and characters referenced that we, the author’s rabid readers, enjoy on multiple levels. There isn’t agonizing angst, but there is pain and hurt, and then joy and healing. Anytime I read a book and find myself yelling at the characters, I take a s proof of excellent writing. I did this several times, cracking myself up. I think you will care about these characters, and the author doesn’t tie everything up in a neat bow, nor does she shove us over a cliff.
I love this series. I stayed up all night reading this one.
Yasmine is smart, driven, and beautiful, but she thinks she has a curse. Her family arranged a marriage, then he fell in love with someone else, and she let him go. Determined not to date, she ends up meeting Zeus while stealing a dog named Hope, who has a complicated history within her friend group work place.
It's spicy, has some adventure, some ups and downs, and finally, Yasmine gets her HEA with someone right for her.
Love that Brenda is still keeping everyone horrified and scandalized!
This book was so sweet. Zeus and Yasmine are so perfect for each other. Zeus has some trust issues, which like fair, but has built some seriously healthy boundaries and shows a type of secure masculinity and dry humor that really feel grounded. Yasmine is an over-thinker but seeing her work through their relationship and maintain her independence is just awesome. They feel like a couple who have enough strength and respect to truly last, which is awesome to see in romance. I am really looking forward to seeing how they interact when they are out and about more, versus the more private relationship. Can’t wait for the next book!!
Yasmine believes she’s cursed when it comes to love, Zeus has major trust issues. Can a chance meeting by doing a welfare check on his neighbor bring these two together? This book has suspense, kink, bonding and romance. This can be read as a standalone but it’s better to get to know the whole team and all the backstories on everyone. Golden writes awesome stories and some can catch you thinking ‘where exactly did that idea come from?’ Iykyk. lol Thanks for letting me be a part of your team. Hope to still be an arc reader for your next book. Loved this book
Yasmine is convinced that she's cursed. You'll understand why if you've read the previous books in this series. Even if you haven't, you'll figure it out. Zeus doesn't believe in the curse but he can see that she does and that's really all that matters. They both have issues to get over. Although she gives in to the attraction, she will not give in to the feelings. The curse will not win!
Lots of heat, some BDSM (they don't go to the club), and developing feelings. These two are perfect for each other.
This is the third book in the Black Fox Security Doms series. I recommend to read Cuffs And Cupcakes first to have more background about Jasmine's curse. This story has all the feels of a idiots to lovers trope except she is the only "idiot" and they are very early lovers. But the energy is there. It is hilarious : Jasmine's curse, the dog's kidnapping, the Heated Rivalry references....I just couldn't stop laughing. And the epilogue...Claudia and Ian ? Yes please.
I absolutely love this series. Book 3 might be my favorite so far!
All the suspense you'd expect with this group. All the mutual pleasure (spicy!). The found family and friends group... Add in a fun meet cute moment. Overall an excellent read!
Miss prim and proper meets a blue collar tech guy just right to rough her up in this suspenseful found family BDSM can’t put down tale. I also love the dog friends in this story. Hope the beautiful yet frail companion for an elderly woman who finds Yasmine at just the right time and adopts Yas as her friend. And Tiger, Zeus’s wacky shelter rescue who is as loveable as he is frustrating. Throw in a threatening stalker and the gossipy security agency Zeus works for and Yasmine calls friends and this story draws you in and won’t let you go till the sigh worthy end.
This series just keeps getting better. And with that ending? Could the tension of the wait for the next book be any higher? Noo! Golden Angel, how could you do this to us? Please get it written quickly, pretty please!
I loved this book. It has a bit of everything. Romance, tension, a dash of crime, a bit of smut and a lot of fun. Yasmine finally gets HEA but obviously not without a few bumps on the road.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Great book with a main character who is sure she is cursed and the man who has to convince her she isn’t. I love their dynamic and how a series of events (and Hope, of course) brought them together.
Loved, loved, loved this story. First, the stolen dog. Absolutely, positively the best. Yasmin believes she must be cursed. Why else would her exs always find love after her. So she's off men. When she meets Zeus she is immediately attracted. And why can't she just have a casual fling. It's not like forever is in her future. Zeus is immediately attracted and would love more, but knows he needs to go slow with Yasmin, otherwise he'll scare her away. I loved that she totally judged him on the man she got to know instead of listening to and believing the gossip from Black Fox Security. And I was glad Zeus listened and didn't hold a grudge for her deciding to keep quiet. I loved this story and their HEA.
Yasmine and Zeus gave me a big case of The Feels and left me swoony. Their journey offered a great balance of emotions, heat and heart that made me fall fast and hard. Really looking forward to book 4.
Yasmine! Let the curse finally be broken and find your HEA! I was ready for her book especially after Mason’s story. And Zeus is amazing. I knew he had a soft side and add in his dog, chefs kiss. He was the perfect match and no matter how much she said no men, he didn’t walk away. It was also nice to finally see his team come around more too. And when Yas finds herself in hot water both with him for not divulging secrets and a mystery threat, he’ll stop at nothing to protect her. And the banter between her parents and him - ding ding he’s your soulmate! Can’t wait for the next book (and the mystery snipper)!
This book gives romcom vibes in the best way. A meet cute worthy of the movies starts things off.
Yas and Zeus each have their own hang-ups. Zeus is boyfriend goals. I love how he didn't discount Yas's feelings. He gave her a counterpoint, but let her figure it out on her own. And Yas was supportive without pushing Zeus. I really enjoyed how they learned to be together and realized they were in love.
The supporting characters added so much richness to the story. I love the world building in this book. Dogs!!! iykyk
This is the 3rd book in a series, but it definitely stands on its own.
As always i get sucked into a Golden Angel book and the day flys by. Her characters always feel like friends and/or people you could know in real life. This series is great and you get to see some old characters and meet some fun new ones! Great addition to the series.
I loved Yasmin and Zeus' story. They are both great characters, always helpful and nice to others. It is while doing a good deed that they meet and sparks fly immediately. They are both skittish thanks to their pasts and their beliefs..but no on ecan deny what is happening between them.. danger is around the corner and it helps in bringing them together. Always nice to see all the characters and catch up.
I loved everything about Yas and Zeus’s story. Of course you got the curse and thinking she isn’t made for anyone long term. But then Zeus steps up and makes her think differently.
I love this series and this is a great addition to this series. Yasmaine and Zeus the best couple. This book has everything, humor, drama, love. Hot dominate male. Yasmaine thinks she is cursed cause every relationship end with the ex getting married to the next girl he meets. Can Zeus show Yasmaine she is not cursed and over come some baggage of his own. The side characters add to the story and the humor. Great book! Great job Golden Angel
Truly captivating read, Yasmine and Zeus are very different characters, their story will inspire Yasmine is not a rose-coloured spectacle kind of girl she is a realist who actually has very little belief in love, she actually has got to the point that she actually considers herself hexed or even maybe cursed as nothing ever seems to go right where romance is concerned so she has just stopped even trying. On one occasion Yasmine visits an owner and pet to make a standard wellness check what she finds makes her instantly decide that Hope the pup cannot be left there and she removes her and leaves the premises. Zeus who recently started working at Black Fox Security where he is finding some things a little strange but he has met Yasmine and they seemed to have chemistry of sorts. However she is so very wary of anything to do with romance and what with settling into a new job, new apartment and generally finding his feet he really is too busy. Yasmine unfortunately has a mother that seems to think it is her lifes mission to try and match her daughter with a suitable husband, she is constantly thinking about Zeus and when she had first met him, she knows many of the people that work at Black Fox Security and he has most definitely stuck in her mind. However, she is currently very focused on the surgery that Hope needs and this needs to be carried out whilst the pup is as young as possible and has her mother trying to find her a husband but Yas keeps thinking about Zeus. And of course we have poor Hope. She needs surgery and Sara is still getting over having had a heart attack.
Yasmine has been put into a dangerous situation without actually realising it and not even the Black Fox Crew had the slightest inkling of the possible threat in her direction, Zeus has come to her assistance and also just happened to meet her parents and they seem to have clicked but as usual nothing ever seems to be plain sailing for this pair. Zeus it seems had not been fortunate and had a good relationship with his parents in fact it had been pretty terrible, when he was young, they had been abusive and this had been the reason that he had left and had made his own way mapping out his own life and the profession he wanted to work in and he was dedicated and extremely good at it which made him sought after. This is a captivating read and as usual readers are left with and open ending that will lead into the next book in this wonderful series, I am sure that readers will be as totally blown away by the plot and the characters as I have been. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the wonderful writing.
How would accidental dognapping be able to break Jasmine’s curse? That’s the first question i had after reading the excerpt of Security & Submission. But once i got into her story,i saw it was actually the perfect way to break her curse!
Because it meant she met Zeus, and because she liked what she saw,she decided to change her MO. Instead of dating, she proposed being friends with benefits, and he accepted! He didn’t run when she introduced him to her idea of a chill night, either… Taking care of Hope, the dog that she’d “napped”,but was now officially in charge of,meant they kept in contact until Hope’s owner Sarah would be discharged from hospital. And Hope needed surgery herself, which they planned to make sure would happen. Then,Jasmine’s house was broken into, and trashed, by an abusive man looking for his wife. And since Jasmine sometimes worked at the shelter,it meant he could come back. So…..staying at Zeus’ house was the logical thing to do….right? It didn’t hurt that also meant they could be even friendlier with benefits, but that was still all it was, right?
It was a good thing the Spice Doms, their partners and most of her friends in general didn’t know what they were up to,because she was sure they’d have an opinion….right? But what would happen if Zeus found out she knew all of them and didn’t tell him she did? Because it seemed he had his own issues, and on top of that,he’d been with that conniving bitch Noelle for a bit. Having to come clean when he saw how familiar she was with Claudia was a good thing. Seeing him create distance after hurt, though…. When danger rose, leaving her badly injured, who was there for her?
Security & Submission was such a delightful story! Filled with humor, banter, sexy times and friends as well as a splash of danger,it kept me glued to the pages. Laughing with the way Jas and Zeus were together,as well as loving the sexy times they had while growing closer and healing eachother. Zeus’ dog Tiger was a wonderful menace and so sweet with Hope. And i loved how Claudia helped them by not only keeping them a secret, but by pushing them to talk once Zeus found out what Jas had done. The Spice Doms and their partners showed once again how they’d become a family that showed up and supported the ones that needed them. Debra got a few new friends her own age to corrupt, and i can’t wait to find out how,lol
What is happening between Claudia and Ian,her brother Miguel’s best friend??? And who was the mysterious shooter they still need to find? I can’t wait to hear more in Whips & Weddings!!!
Yasmine doesn’t believe in love. She sees herself as cursed. When she makes a wellness visit on to friend of a friend, she finds the woman’s dog Hope. She can’t leave the pup behind. Zeus is still trying to fit in with the Black Fox group. He is a good neighbor and went to check on Hope. When he finds a stunning woman in the house instead, he learns what happened. They both know someone in Black Fox Security that knows the other but they have kept it from each other. I honestly thought that was so funny. They are just dancing around that. We have also an angry ex looking for his wife. This brings Zeus in more cause of his background in security. Yas has her mother trying to find her a husband but Yas keeps thinking about Zeus. And of course we have poor Hope. She needs surgery and Sara is getting over having had a heart attack.
This all starts great for them. Until Zeus realizes that Yas knows the Black Fox Security group. Things get a bit dicey for them both. You knew that was coming though once that whole thing unfurled. Yas was put in danger unbeknownst to her and the crew. But it was actually kind of a good thing. Zeus met her parents and it clicked. But things aren’t simple for these two. We also learn a lot more about Zeus’ past. He and his parents have an abusive past. I can understand why he left home. He moved forward with his life and finally found peace. But they keep trying to reach out to him. The curse has been broken for Yas. We still have a snipper out there. And what in the world is Ian Blake, Claudia’s brother Miguels friend doing. Claudia may have a crush on him, but what is Ian up to.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Shoutout to Golden Angel and her team for the opportunity to read and review an ARC of Security and Submission
Y’all this was a WILD RIDE! The Black Fox Security Doms series is a lot darker than most of the other books in the Stronghold Universe and as such, in my opinion, they stand on their own really well. However, I do suggest that you follow Golden Angels suggested reading order for the best emotional setups and ultimate payoffs.
With that said Security and Submission was NOT where I thought the overall story arc was going. I love that the opening is actually based on real events according to Golden. Obviously names were changed and one gender was changed but the events were largely based on her own experiences surrounding an accidental dog kidnapping.
I went in to this book with questions, I got some answers and left with other questions. One of the biggest questions I have is whether or not something in book 2 was intentional or just coincidental but the timing of the coincidence made it suspicious as hell.
Overall, I enjoyed reading this one. The danger was heightened in a way I didn’t anticipate. The suspense for the FMC and MMC was executed so well I could feel the emotions coming off the page. The plot was plottin’; the spice was spicin’; the questions answered only revealed MORE. That’s a great place to be at in the beginning to mid-way through a series.
Security & Submission was such a delightful surprise! I started out wondering how accidental dognapping could break Jasmine’s “curse,” but once her story unfolded, it became the perfect catalyst. Taking Hope home forces her into Zeus’s orbit, and watching these two shift from strangers to friends‑with‑benefits to something deeper was addictive.
The humour, banter, and chemistry between Jas and Zeus had me laughing and grinning constantly. Their “chill nights,” the way they care for Hope, and the chaos caused by Zeus’s menace‑of‑a‑dog Tiger were all wonderful touches. The danger element added tension without overshadowing the romance, especially once Jasmine’s home is trashed and Zeus steps in to keep her safe.
I loved how Claudia helped them keep things quiet while nudging them toward honesty, and how the Spice Doms and their partners once again showed up like the found family they are. Debra gaining new friends her own age was hilarious, and I can’t wait to see how that unfolds.
And now I’m very curious about Claudia and Ian — what exactly is happening there? Plus, the mysterious shooter still out there adds a great thread leading into Whips & Weddings. I can’t wait for more.
