Children’s book illustrator Penelope Shaw has mastered the art of making hunger look cute—until someone offers to feed her for real…

Finally! Penelope’s crush invited her to dinner at Mugen, an impossible-to-book omakase restaurant where “infinity meets intention.” She arrives expecting romance to bloom, and also to get inspired for her illustrations of culinary delights.

But when she arrives, what actually greets her are tales of Helena Devereux—an enchanting and sensual patron of the arts whose gatherings promise infinite inspiration and belonging.

The problem? This patron demands more than just your art.

As Helena’s web of obsession wraps tighter around Penelope, the sanitized becomes savage. Mundane acts transform into binding curses. Ancient and ravenous, Helena’s coterie threatens to harvest Penelope.

Will Penelope escape, or will she become another prey in Helena’s collection?

*A lush, modern fairy tale for grown-ups about the stories we keep telling ourselves, the hunger we inherit, and what it really means to feed yourself.

Log Me Tender is weird but wonky, there were some pacing and tone issues. It felt like it was afraid to just commit to what it, was which left me confused at some parts. Still a decent read for a "weird" horror 3/5

I really enjoyed “Log Me Tender.” It’s a captivating read with a satisfying conclusion. Well written with vivid and rich detail that keeps you engaged and on track through the story’s many twists and turns. Our day-to-day world… magical realms… the multiverse… maybe they really are all part of our reality.

The plot is engaging and draws you in quickly. It progresses smoothly at a good pace, building to an unexpected series of conflicts where you’ll have difficulty putting the book down as they resolve.

The richness of the writing serves to make the story immersive and alive, giving it great realism and depth - it makes the magic possible. You understand and relate to Penelope, the protagonist, and her struggles as though you are a part of her. The vivid descriptions of her thoughts and surroundings are like a seatbelt that keeps you in place as the story morphs and transitions between dimensions both ordinary and magical.

Wynn Ray writes awesome tales that give a nod to the process that inspires, and sometimes torments, creatives. If you are of that vein, “Log Me Tender” will leave you enriched and motivated, as well as, entertained.

Log Me Tender was such a unique twist of selling your soul for success!

Wynn Ray has an absolutely brilliant manner of not only telling you what is going on in the story but also showing you through the most vivid descriptions.

Penelope Shaw IS a successful artist that still suffers from the trauma she endured as a child, and it shows in every single one of her illustrations. Following a failed date, Penelope is presented with an opportunity to network with highly influential people who all contribute their success to one woman who believed in them, Helena Devereux. Helena sees Penelope's potential through her trauma and recognizes her hunger for more. Utilizing this trauma and ever growing hunger, Helena offers Penelope everything she could ever hope for. More success than she knows what to do with, fulfilment, and family. But such things must come at a cost.

I absolutely loved Wynn Ray's writing style as well as Penelope's eccentric personality that really shines through the page.

The story starts off rather slow but Penelope's personality really helps to keep you going into the meat and potatoes of the story. It starts to pick up at about 30% and then it's off to the races! I will admit that the progression of the story really took me by surprise as it was NOT what I was expecting at all. However, I will say that, due to Wynn Ray's writing style, I was fully able to pivot and visualize most of what was going on. It honestly felt a bit like a fever dream reading the last 1/3 of the book but I fully believe that is what the author intended.

While I personally enjoyed the writing style, I can see it being problematic/less desirable for some readers. In some areas, it feels as though the vivid descriptions take priority over the action of the story, which leads to several rather slow progressing areas.

Regardless, this was definitely a very interesting read and overall, I would recommend it. Eventually, I do plan to check out the remaining works of Wynn Ray as well.

Huge thank you to NetGalley and Wynn Ray for providing me with this ARC.

I will give this 3.5 stars but I'm going to mark it as four.

There was a lot to digest. Get it? This was an interesting story and will get your mind turning. I didn't understand how everything worked with Helena in the second half. But during the first, I could see how people would be enthralled by her. She is charming.

I wish Xander had been more serious about how important the dinner was to Penelope. I actually thought the whole book would be about the restaurant, and while it did tie in, I was wrong.

Penelope also seemed to switch between her feelings about Xander quickly. Yes, the way he acted during dinner was a turn off. And can definitely understand her being mad at him. Then she's happy again with him and needs him next to her. Regardless, I liked how things turned out for them.

I believe this book requires critical thinking. You have to take it all in. I would recommend giving this story a go. It was outside of the realm of stories I usually read but it was worth it.

Thanks to Imaginarium Kim and Net Galley for a copy of this arc.

Log me tender is an interesting premise that mixes horror, fairy tales and overcoming trauma in a fresh way.

Unfortunately the page count feels a bit bloated. We spend a lot of time rehashing Penelope’s insecurities with repetitive sections.

The romance is cute enough.

If you liked bed rot baby and weapons but want something cozier this might be a book for you.
