HAILEY ALWAYS KNOWS WHEN SOMEONE LIES, BUT TELLING THE TRUTH AND LYING ARE NOT THE SAME.

HAILEY FELL’s life in her small town has never been particularly exciting—or enjoyable for that matter—but all that changes when she spots a dark figure in the forest around her home. She is suddenly thrust into a world that she doesn’t recognize. Asked to fulfil a critical role in a scheme she is only beginning to understand. Forced to wade through the veiled truths and lies they tell her. Will she be able to trust this strange new world that she somehow plays a role in protecting? Or will her distrust doom the mission to fail?

ASH ALBORN has a mission. He has never failed to complete an assignment but now he comes across a challenge like never before. Can he overcome the complication that is Hailey Fell and keep the balance between the Dimensions? Or will her inconvenient perceptiveness stop them from preventing a war before it can truly begin?

An unexpected connection between a girl, who isn’t as ordinary as she thinks, and a boy, who is playing a much more dangerous game than he realizes, may put the balance between the Dimensions in more danger than any other threat.

NOTHING IS EVER AS SIMPLE AS IT SEEMS.

Shadow World took a little time to pull me in. In the beginning there’s a lot of information and heavy world building, which felt a bit overwhelming at first. But once I hit around the 30% mark… wow. That’s when the story really grabbed me and didn’t let go. So much started happening at once, and I genuinely found myself on the edge of my seat 😅

Even though the writing style isn’t normally my go-to, I still really enjoyed the story overall. It was fun, intense, and you can clearly tell that Daphne put a lot of thought and planning into this world and its plot. Everything comes together in a way that makes you want more.

I received this book as an ARC, and I’m really glad I did because now I’m very impatiently waiting for book 2 🫣✨

Thank you to Book Sirens & Daphne for this ARC of Shadow World. This review & all opinions are my own.

It did take me a little while to get into the world as we start with lots go world building and information at the start however once you hit around 25-30% into the book, it really speeds up and I locked in at the point! At the beginning I did fall in love with Hailey very quickly as some many aspects of her life I could resonate in some way (& I love a book where I feel more connected to the characters in some way!)

There was some surprises throughout this book that had me screaming and shocked! I can’t wait to see how Hailey & Ash’s relationship pans out because I am ready for things to happen! I absolutely adore Alex, such a sweet character and the fact he likes books, I’m sold!

The ending of the book! OMG, it was intense and now it has me begging for the next book. The cliffhanger really was worse than I was expecting *crying* and then we get hit with the epilogue!!!! I can’t wait to find out what is going to happen next!

The writing style was slightly different to what I have read in the past so sometime I was a little confused on things but I still enjoyed the story and it has so much potential for the rest of the series, I was hoping for a little more between the FMC and MMC but hopefully in the future we will get more!

Overall, it is an easy book to follow, it is not fast paced and you slowly learn about the world, the characters etc. It is a perfect set up book to learn things ready for the rest of the series. It is different to fantasy books I have previously read but I loved that as I enjoyed reading new worlds with different concepts! And finally I have soooo many questions I need answering so patiently waiting for Book 2…

I was unsure about this book and then saw it was similar to Powerless and decided to give it a go. I was shocked by how good this book was! The characters were so developed, the world felt real and unreal at the same time (like good descriptions but so different from our world) and I really want to read the next book when the author writes it!

☆⛤♥⭑hailey⭑♥⛤☆
She was such a strong, independent character who I loved! She wasn’t immediately trusting and could fend for herself, something I think is very important. She was a great main character and I would read many more books with her as the main character.

☆⛤♥⭑the world⭑♥⛤☆
This world felt so strong, real, and well developed! I really enjoyed reading the scenes in the other dimensions. It felt so different from our world, something that I loved and enjoyed.

☆⛤♥⭑the ending⭑♥⛤☆
The ending was plot twist after plot twist and i really enjoyed turning the pages and seeing what was going to happen next!

In summary, if you like fantasy, any type of fantasy, you will LOVE this book!

The story has an interesting premise, with multiple dimensions and hints at deeper secrets throughout, some of which are never fully delved into. The author clearly has imaginative ideas and has built up a story with a lot of world-building. When the protagonist faces bullying and opposition from people in her world, it feels difficult to understand why. There is nothing in the way Hailey presents herself or acts that warrants this kind of treatment. The reasons for this hostility towards her throughout the book feel unclear.

The motivations behind several key characters also feel unclear, particularly the team that comes and protects her. I thought since she spent every day working on her skills, she would be utilising these in the new world. Perhaps in book 2, she will.

Despite these small gaps, the characters and world are engaging, and it will be interesting to see where Hailey’s journey goes in the next book. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

The Five Dimensions: Shadow World introduces readers to a fascinating concept where reality extends far beyond the world we know. Daphne C. Kubbinga builds a story around hidden dimensions, mysterious forces, and the idea that there are layers of existence we rarely see.

The “Shadow World” element adds a darker, more mysterious tone to the narrative. As the story unfolds, readers are pulled deeper into a universe where discovery, danger, and curiosity constantly collide.

One of the most interesting aspects of the book is the exploration of multiple dimensions and how they interact with one another. The story blends adventure with speculation about unseen worlds, creating a sense of wonder and intrigue.

Overall, the book offers a creative mix of fantasy and science-fiction ideas while exploring themes of discovery, courage, and the unknown.

Creative, mysterious, and filled with multidimensional intrigue.

Shadow World is an imaginative and immersive story that draws you into a place where darkness and wonder exist side by side. Daphne C. Kubbinga creates a richly atmospheric setting filled with mystery, emotion, and a sense of discovery that unfolds gradually and beautifully.

What I enjoyed most was the mood of the story—it has a quiet intensity that pulls you in rather than rushing you along. The characters feel thoughtful and layered, and their journey through the shadowed world is as much about inner growth as it is about the external dangers they face. There’s a softness to the emotional moments that balances the darker themes nicely.

The world-building is intriguing and creative, though there were moments where I wished certain aspects had been explored a little more deeply. Even so, the story remains engaging and leaves you curious about what lies beyond the next shadow.

This was a beautifully written YA fantasy story set in a world with multiple dimensions. It was descriptive and I felt like I was there. The plot kept me engaged and wanting to know more. The chapters were short to medium and gave sprinkling of information to keep me invested in the story but not so much that I felt I could easily put the book down. The only reason I didn’t finish this book in one sitting was my adult responsibilities but It was definitely bingeable in my opinion and am desperate to read book two to continue the story. Look forward to reading more books by this author. I loved the FMC and really related to her when she was being bullied and when she was having friendship issues

If you love stories that make you question the fabric of reality, The Five Dimensions: Shadow World needs to be on your radar. Daphne C. Kubbinga has created a seriously cool concept centered around hidden dimensions and the unseen forces operating around us.

The "Shadow World" itself gives the book a wonderfully dark, mysterious edge. I loved how the story balanced pure, curiosity-driven exploration with genuine danger. The best part? Seeing how these different dimensions actually interact with one another. It's the perfect crossover for fans of both sci-fi and fantasy.

It's a quick, imaginative read about courage and the unknown that will definitely keep you hooked.

In short: Creative, mysterious, and filled with multidimensional intrigue.

This book was a good read. A few times I was unsure where the storyline was going. I would love to say found family but semi against the FMCs will but not in the worst way! As the first book in the series we were introduced to the main characters of the book as well as the initial key side characters. Given this book is to be a series it leaves on a cliffhanger with a few twists and turns along the way. There is definitely room for more world building and character growth in the next coming books. Shadow World was easy to follow and steady paced. Thoroughly enjoyed it and can't wait for book 2!

This book I've received as a ARC.

The book starts of slow and easy, around 30% things pick up speed. Its a fast read and a YA.

Our mfc is living a ordinary life, but the book hits that not everything is normal. and soon enough she's traveling thru dementions and trust into a world that dislike humans all the while trying to figure out this new world, her place inn it and her mysterious mmc who she thought she knew. All the while evil forces are getting stronger and ready to throw the dementions off balance.

She's beeing kept in the dark, and she now have to find the answers before the prince of evil finds her.

This was fun!
The whole soul-hunters/third dimension part was really interesting, I hoped it was explained a little bit more, I feel like there was more hidden infomation than neccesary but I understand this is going to be a series so I hope we get more answers as well as good characters arcs (my fav character was Alex, I adore him).

Shadow World took a little time to hook me due to the heavy world-building at the start, but once the story picked up, I was completely hooked. The plot becomes intense and fast-paced, with twists that keep you turning the pages.
As the first book in a series, it does a great job setting up the world and characters, ending on a cliffhanger that makes you want more. I really enjoyed this and can’t wait for book two!

This book had wonderful world building! I found myself in the woods, in the other worlds and picturing them perfectly. The character's are so multi layered they seem like completely different people at the end, which I suppose makes sense. And the ending, i almost do not like the author for :) I absolutely loved it and am now sad I may have to wait quite some time for the next! one!
