An adorably shy aquatic MMC and an FMC tired of dating trash humans? It was cute! A bit heavy handed on the cheese, but that is part of the fun with alien romances, no?

Tentacles! Yay! If you’ve been around for a while, you know how much I love extra parts and special features with my spice. But tentacles are a particular joy of mine. And this one is used SOOO effectively.
Also, the sweetest more sincere and awkward main character ever in Rynvek, who just wants to find a connection, someone to spend time with who will care for him and has never been chosen before. This alien is a virgin, folks, but he’s clearly done some research. Or maybe Opacummins are naturally amazing? That also seems likely.
Juliet is a human female sick of the rat race AND of human men. She wants a change and she takes a chance on Planet WLN269.
Ryn is delightfully literal and so very earnest. Jules brings the lightness and humor and gives him the love he deserves. Also, Ryn has a form a selective hermaphroditism where he can tailor his physical features to what he (or Jules) desires and he waits to learn that she prefers male biological parts to present his length to her! That’s love. That’s respect. That’s consent. Pay attention folks.
Also, cupping via tentacle occurs. This is like normal massage cupping and releases tension, but it does it INSIDE her. Like knotting, but extra suction-y.

Tired of life on Earth, human Juliette journeys to WLN269 to meet her match, Rynvek, a lonely alien that kind of resembles a sea creature. There she must navigate a new world, relationship, and new anatomy…
I had a lot of fun reading this short and spicy alien romance by April Showers. This was my fist read by Showers, and I was pleasantly surprised by how perfect they pair sexy alien smut with such beautiful writing. Ryn is such a romantic and such a poet! This added to the WLN269 lore and features an appearance by a Squibble AND a screaming earth cat. Out of all the stories so far, Ryn’s species and culture might be my favorite. Tangled in His Tides is a quick, sexy read that, like all of WLN269, doesn’t take itself too seriously. Pick this up and give it a try!

Let me tell you all you need to know. Tentacles with a suction up tip. Yup! Also, Rynvek is the cutest greenish-blue alien. He has these blue stripes that glow blue when he gets excited, if you know what I mean.
Juliette is the FMC and she’s a fashion girl and so we know her outfits are fire living in big’ol’ NYC. This girl shows up in a white bridal style jumpsuit to meet her alien. I feel like that’s some foreshadowing, LOL, but we already knew it was an HEA.
Rynvek is the start of the show and not because he’s a virgin alien who’s lived some life and has still been single this whole time. I guess the ladies were kind of mean to him and none found him attractive. Poor guy!
He’s a sweet heart and is totally what Juliette needs because this girl is in her head way too much. She’s crashing out after every interaction.

I really enjoyed this one — it was warm, romantic, and quietly refreshing in its character dynamics.
Rynvek was such a standout male lead. An amphibious alien with his own personal hot tub is already a win, but what really made him shine was how attentive and accommodating he was to Juliette — making sure all (and yes, all) of her preferences were met.
I loved the reversal of expectations with Rynvek being the virgin. It’s so often the female character who is inexperienced, so having the male lead be vulnerable but open to loving experiences felt tender and genuinely refreshing.
Juliette’s background added great flavour to the story. A New York fashion professional arriving on WLN269 in what’s essentially an almost-bridal jumpsuit? Iconic. And I really enjoyed seeing more of the day-to-day life in Settlement 33 — it reinforces that even across galaxies, ordinary lives still unfold in familiar ways. Plus, the return of the chaotic-but-adorable squibbles always adds charm.
This worked for me because I love romance that plays with expectations, gives us emotionally open heroes, and balances sweetness with fun world-building details.
Tangled in His Tides is for readers who enjoy tender alien romance, caring and attentive heroes, gender-role reversals in experience, cosy settlement world-building, and a touch of chaotic squibble energy.

This was a great story about Rynvek, the Opacummins amphibian like alien and Juliette, the slightly crass (in all the best ways) millennial human who is over men on Earth.
This couple hits it off immediately and waste no time in diving into their carnal needs...like almost no time whatsoever.
There are some fun side characters, too!
Alice, Juliette's friend who doesn't get nearly enough book time IMO.
Aruuk, Rynvek's BFF and coworker who is supportive and sweet.
Rivven, the angry insecure male that shows us that they are on every planet and just as obnoxious on other planets.
And most importantly, PIP!!!!!! Pip is the squibble, and I love me some squibbles!!!!

I’m obsessed with these two!! I loved the way Rynvek went ABSOLUTELY FERAL for Juliette’s…scent…! They’re perfect for each other and also complete each other somehow. Rynvek would be my dream alien if it wasn’t for the mostly-fish diet! 7 feet tall, sweet, protective, and easily convinced we should have a cute little pet. Also, the tentacle 👀 But since he’s taken, I need to know if Telyah is 🏳️🌈 because I’m pretty sure I’ll go to space for her!! I just loved this so much, oh my gosh. 🌶️🌶️🌶️

does Planet WLN269 still need women? asking for a friend
This series is just like an all you can eat buffet of wonderful books. Juliette gave up on Earth men, and honestly who can’t relate sometimes, and she went into H.E.L.P. with little to no hope. Then she met Rynvek and things started to look up immediately. I loved the fact that Rynvek was a V and Juliette was more than willing to help him learn about…🤔matters of the body😉 and he was a VERY enthusiastic student. It was so sweet and super swoon worthy how quick he was to stand up for Juliette when the situation called for it. The spice was the gift that kept on giving. Tentacle. That’s all I’m gonna say. I loved how quickly these two fell for each other and how willing they were to get to know the other and the way they were so devoted. “My Jewel” had me 🥹🥹🥹 and this was honestly just such a fantastic and heartwarming read with scads of spice peppered throughout.

The spice is explicit and creative, it's hot, playful, and well integrated into their growing connection. This novella felt full in the best way. Romantic, steamy, and slightly unhinged. A strong WLN269 entry that made me very happy to keep reading this universe.

This was a fun read! It was a very low angst, insta- connection romance with a fun amphibious alien. We love a tentacle feature and this one was extra special with some “cupping” action teeheehee. I really liked that her desire for adventure and change was fulfilled by what he considered normal life.
I’m not going to lie, the writing style here was a little too full of space metaphors and lacked a little something to really pull me into the story. Both of these are definitely just personal preference, and other readers likely feel differently!

Ok this has been my favorite so far (mind you this is my third) but I feel like you got EVERYTHING with this couple.
You got Juliette's horrible luck with men. You got poor awkward charming Ryn putting himself out there. Full courting and then the journey. And things immediately amped up. And omg I loved every moment of it!? So many cute funny moments happened as well. Just completely in love with these two. And loved to see what Ryn had packing 😉
Also love the squibble and earth cat. I about died at that scene 😂. Already hoping we get other's stories from who were introduced!

Juliette is done with dating human men. She has had one bad date after the other. So when she signs up with H.E.L.P. she doesn’t have much hope but is willing to try. She finds Rynvek. He is a male that hasn’t ever been with anyone but he is so open and protective it makes her fall fast.
He will always put her first and is the complete opposite of anyone she has met up to that point. He also has a very dominant protector personality that comes out. It is hot and makes their relationship blossom.

This was a standout read! I really appreciated that the path to love wasn't easy. The external conflict and the cold shoulder from the community added much needed tension. It gave their relationship actual stakes and made me root for them even harder. A refreshing take on the 'us against the world' trope. I loved the emotional depth of both of these characters. Oh wow Rynvek was the sweetest!

January 28, 2026I liked how sort of innocent and timid the male MC was initially. It blended well with her tenacity and spunk. I also loved how surprised he was to his sort of visceral reactions to her and what he was willing to do for her. I love how we got to learn quite a bit about his alien culture and life before WLN269.
The spice was so unique. I don’t know if I’ve just never read something like that or if it’s completely original but I was mesmerized!

Another short story. One of many of this planet that is trying to get human women on the planet to help wither aliens. This one is about an alien that is more like a fish type. Definitely had its spicy scenes and it was quick moving the more books about this planet, the more I am understanding the story line. 10 books in total. Written well.

This line had me crying, and then Rynvek had me 🥰 I honestly related to Juliette so much and the connection she and Ryn formed was so swoon worthy! If you want a super sweet, super spicy, and super alien romance, this is the book for you!

Juliette is sharp witted, sharp tongued, humorous and full of personality. She's rough around the edges and that makes her likeable honestly. She felt real, flawed and fun. Rynvek, on the other hand, is pure sweetness. (For a moment that is IYKYK) Their scenes are very fun, exciting and making you wish you had more.

The chemistry between Rynvek and Juliette is sweet and intense. Rynvek was so endearing with both his insecurities and vulnerability when it comes to Juliette. They make such a great couple. It’s the perfect "palate cleanser" book—low-stress but high-heat and can be read in a single sitting.

Who knew that tentacles could be hot?
I absolutely adored Juliette and Rynvek’s story and learning about their lives but also planet WLN269.
This was one of my first alien romances and I ate. It. Up. April Showers has definitely succeeded in doing Jewel and Ryn justice.
Definitely recommend this one!

So I feel like I need to say nothing about this book was bad or even not great. It just wasn’t my favorite. I don’t really have any good reasoning behind that or anything overall the characters were fun and the plot was fine it just didn’t hit for me.

Juliette is a hard core. I loved how she led throughout this book. Rynvek is so sweet and cute and hits all my favorite tropes about a male who hasn't been intimate before. I really feel like Jules hard core driven attitude lends itself well here

I really enjoyed this one! I liked that there was some external conflict surrounding the relationship and that the community wasn't immediately accepting of her. It gave more stakes to their connection. The unique appendage situation was 10/10.
