America, 2024.

The war with the police state is on in The Superstructure, the second installment in the Uprising 2024 series. In The Octavian Latticework, young Johnny Luca and his band of agents saved President Wilkins from assassination at the hand of rogue officials bent on turning America into a police state. But Octavian, the shadowy leader of the group trying to overthrow the Republic, remains at large. President Wilkins orders Luca's unit to unmask Octavian and crush his movement for once and for all, but Octavian has a plan of his own to finally eliminate Wilkins. Meanwhile, Luca turns vigilante as he tracks down Jack Gaines, the man who murdered his father, jeopardizing the mission.

Sedition roils the capital, protesters clash with baton-wielding shock troops in Times Square, and a helicopter battle rages above New York City as the uprising begins at last in Jack Belmonte's second novel.

The Superstructure is the sequel to The Octavian Latticework, which are part of the fascinating “Uprising 2024” series by Jack Belmonte. The Superstructure picks up where The Octavian Latticework left off, with agent Johnny Luca having recently saved President Wilkins from assassination by radical officials wanting to overthrow the government and turn the United States into a repressive police state. Even though Luca and his fellow agents thwarted the assassination attempt, Octavian, the mysterious leader of this nefarious group, remains at large.

We find that Luca has turned into a vigilante, as he tries to track down the murderer of his father. The government is still trying to uncover the identity of Octavian and bring him to justice. Octavian still wants to overthrow the government and sets forth a new plot to achieve his goals. These competing goals set everyone on a collision course, with many unexpected twists the reader will encounter. Can Johnny Luca reign in his thirst for revenge? Or, will his desire for retribution compromise President Wilkin’s goal to take down Octavian and allow Octavian to succeed in his plot to gain control?

The Octavian Latticework is a roller coaster ride. The Superstructure, in comparison, rips the brakes off of the cart and plunges you down a steep ravine. The writing by the author is much more polished in this novel. It is a constant page-turner and will keep you up late at night to see what happens next. My suggestion, stock up on the Visine.

The continuity of the series is seamless. You have already grown to know many of the existing characters from the first novel, but new characters are introduced and slowly developed. This keeps the book fresh. There are times when you cheer for a particular character and times when you wonder if they are who they seem they are. This is the sign of good character development.

I thoroughly enjoyed the The Superstructure and look forward to future installments of the “Uprising 2024” series. If you enjoy government conspiracy or police/crime novels, this is an excellent novel for you to pick up. If you like adventure novels, this will provide you plenty of twists and turns to keep you on the edge of your seat. Run — don’t walk — and put this in your reading list right away.

I received a copy of this book from the author. I was excited to get it because of the Octavian Latticework (highly recommended!). When I opened the book and started to read I was a little disappointed. The first chapter was rough reading. If I hadn't read the first book I would've stopped reading but I read the second chapter and decided to take a break. I figured I owed it to the author to try to read some more. I read the next three chapters the next night and it was a little better. The second half of the book was where the good reading was; I could not put the book down, and it mostly made up for the rough start. I don't know what happened to the writing style but by the time I made it to the end of the book I was on the edge of my seat. I eagerly await the next book in the series. I do think you have to read the first book to really get an idea of what is going on, but it isn't an absolute necessity. I also think that the parallels between today's world and what Jack is writing is too close to be chance. America wake up, Jack's giving us a couple of years yet, but I think he's being optimistic. You want to know why Bloomberg is pushing his anti-gun agenda on us? Read this series. You want to know what the liberal socialist agenda is? Read this book. You want to know what the endgame is? Read this book and decide where you stand or maybe even decide if this book is really only fiction and there are no parallels. But any intelligent American will want to know.

Jack Belmonte does it again! He brings back the cast of characters from The Octavian Latticework and takes us on another politically driven thrill ride. If you haven't read Latticework, I highly suggest it. Not only is it awesome but there are really too many characters, in my opinion, to keep up with if you don't know the entirety of their back story.

Johnny Luca is still sweet talking Lizbeth, who has suspicions that his work isn't really what he says. Tensions run high between them as they struggle to find a middle ground - difficult when you aren't being honest.

Johnny is sidetracked from his work because of his undying obsession with hunting down (and repaying the favor to) the person who killed his father.

I struggled a bit in the first few chapters but Belmonte didn't let me down, drawing me into the craziness and making me beg for the finale! I can't imagine what my face looked liked as the puzzle pieces started falling into place. Shock and amazement for sure.

I found the answers I'd been wondering about for so long - and Belmonte, at his best, introduces a tidbit of the next chapter in the Uprising 2024 to whet my appetite!

The Superstructure

I was given this book by the author in exchange for a review. Many thanks to Jack Belmonte!
This action adventure thriller continues the story of political intrigue started in its precursor, The Octavian Latticework, both part of the “Uprising 2024” series from Jack Belmonte. It picks up and runs with the plotline straight from the first novel.
This story has agent Johnny Luca, the hero from the original, pursuing a more personal goal – one of revenge. Some new characters are introduced which ensure the story does not tire, and remains excitingly different in its plot development.
As with the first novel, this is fast paced and has many interesting plot twists that will keep the reader guessing right to the end. Specifically, the second half was particularly gripping, and I found myself unable to put it down until I reached its conclusion.
I eagerly await the next installment!
Highly recommended for all lovers of action adventure / political conspiracy novels.

More twists and turns than a theme park rollercoaster!

The second book in the "uprising 2024 series" picks up at full speed from the ending of the previous book "the Octavian Latticework". You do not need to have read that book to appreciate this one, but take my advice and go and buy a copy along with this one and read them both now. The new book starts at full speed, and then gets faster as the story takes on more twists and turns that a theme park rollercoaster. I certainly did not see where this was going but I thoroughly enjoyed the ride, I cannot wait for the next book but first I am going back to re-read this one!

Excellent follow up to the Octavian Latticework. It picks up with the same fast pace from the previous novel and never lets up. You could read this on its own as the author does a nice job recapping the events but I would advice to check out the first one.
Lots of action, twists and turns.
Looking forward to the next entry!

Wow! I just finished The Superstructure and it was amazing! With lots of twists and turns and full of surprises, this one is more exciting than the first book. If you like political thrillers that read like today's headlines, then this one is for you. I can't wait for the third in the series.
