Although this book can be categorised as young adult fiction, I really enjoyed reading it. The writer has studied peculiarities of Africa in depth and incorporated it very well in the story. A very well written adventure fiction indeed!!!

I just loved this adventurous story! Hurrah! It felt like I was lingering around the world in my lovely room lol. Also my first ever adventure novel. This novel theme was a good change for me in context of genre considering my previous Gujarati novels reading history. Have fun. All the Gujju teens should must have this experience.

ડો.આઈ કે વીજળીવાળા ભાવનગરમાં બાળરોગ નિષ્ણાત તરીકે સેવા બજાવે છે. તેઓ લખે છે કે, આફ્રિકા ખંડ વિશે હાઈસ્કૂલમાં ભણતો ત્યારથી જ એક ગજબનું આકર્ષણ રહેતું સોનાની ખાણો, હીરાના પર્વતો, વનસ્પતિઓની અજાયબ દુનિયા, માણસ ખાઉં જંગલીઓ એવા એવા તો કેટલાય વિષયો મને આકર્ષતા હતાં.ભૂગોળ ભણતી વખતે હું પણ આ વાર્તા ના પાત્ર ડીકની જેમજ વિચારોમાં ખોવાઈ જતો.મનોમન આફ્રિકા જવાની કલ્પના કરતો હતો.દશમા ધોરણમાં મેં ભૂગોળ વિષય‌ રાખવા પાછળનું કારણ દુનિયા વિશે જાણવાની ઈચ્છા પણ હતું જ.
આ પછી અગિયારમુ ધોરણ ભણતો ત્યારે આજુબાજુમાં મારા જેવડા અને મારાથી નાના બાળકોને ભેગા કરીને વાર્તા કહેતો. ત્યારે જ હીરાનો ખજાનો મનમાં ઉદભવ્યો હતો. ત્યારે તો ઈન્ટરનેટ કે એવી કોઈ સગવડ નહોતી.પરંતુ અમારી શાળા ની લાયબ્રેરી ખાસ્સી સમૃદ્ધ હતી. એનો ઉપયોગ કરીને આફ્રિકાની વાતો વાંચતો ગયો. એ પરથી વાર્તા બનાવીને બાળકોને કહેતો ગયો.સાથોસાથ હીરાના ખજાના નામની વાર્તા સો પાનાની એક નોટબુકમાં લખતો ગયો. એ પછી આવ્યું ૧૨મુ ધોરણ.એ પછી તુરંત જ મેડિકલ ની‌ લાંબી સફર. એ દશ વર્ષમાં લખવા વાંચવાનું મેડિકલના વિષય સિવાય કાંઈ કરતાં કાંઈ ન બન્યું. બાળરોગ નિષ્ણાત બની ગયા પછી તુરંત જ કારકિર્દીમાં લાગી ગયો. એમાં ઠરીઠામ થતાં બીજા દશ વર્ષ નીકળી ગયાં. પછી એક દિવસ નાની બહેન શરીફાએ સાચવી રાખેલ એ સો પાનાની નોટબુક મને મોકલાવી.એ વાંચ્યા પછી ઠીક ,જેક, રોબર્ટ,અને જ્હોન હેરિગ પાછા સમયની ધૂળ ખંખેરીને બેઠા થયા.ફરીથી આગળ લખાયું અને હવે તે પુસ્તકરુપે આકાર પામી રહ્યું છે.
આફ્રિકાના‌ જંગલની રોમાંચક સફરના સમયે મને તો આનંદ થાય, એ સ્વાભાવિક છે, આશા છે મારા દોસ્તોને પણ આ સાહસ કથાની મજા મારી જેમજ માણી શકશે.આ વાર્તાનું એક એક પાત્ર મારી જિંદગીનું સાથીદાર બની ચૂક્યું છે.
અને છેલ્લે.... આ વાર્તાને વાંચનારા દરેક દોસ્તોનો પણ અત્યારથી જ આભાર માની લઉ છું એમના જેવી જીજ્ઞાસા અને કૂતુહલવૃતિ મારામાં સદા બની રહો એવું પરમાત્મા પાસે માગીને વિરમું છું.

One of the greatest books in my opinion ,though it is more like young adult fiction, but a young group of friends on an adventure is definitely my favorite genre, and no one could have done it better than Sir I.K Vijaliwala, i have read the whole adventure series thrice.
Eagerly waiting for the next part.

I grew up reading this book series. I know Dr. I.K. Vijalivala personally. I loved reading hi when I was in school. This book series is the best. This is a very nice book. You should also read the next books in this series.
