Well I finished this is just over 24 hrs. This is Eremourie's story and it takes place at the end of book 3 of the gate maker series and alongside book 4.. I would definitely advise that you read those books first before reading this one. This is Lysais sister's story. It takes place in Tenaria, which is the shadow world.

I have to say that this book is dark, in fact it is definitely darker than book 3. Please check your trigger warnings at the start of the book. This book is super dark and has some quite gruesome things happen to characters within the book.

Eremourie is the dutiful shadow princess. Her father the shadow fae king is an absolute pig and following the events at the end of book 3, he basically plans on marrying her off to one of his shadow lords. But Eremourie develops feelings for one of the kings guards and also one of the lords as well.

Now I loved Jakiel, who was promoted to the kings guard. He was so lovely and genuinely cares for Eremourie. Lord Chaiyn... Well there were moments in the book where I wanted to kill him. I honestly gasped out loud in a pub whilst reading this book and got some dodgy looks from the people next to me. It gives you all the feels and you are feeling everything right along with Eremourie including all her heartbreak. We find out so much about Eremourie and you can't help but root for her.

This is the first book of a duet about Eremourie so this does end on a cliff hanger. A cliff hanger is typical Maggie Brown, however I didn't think this one was as bad as some of her others. I knew going in that it was a duet and it felt like the right place to stop for now. Am I desperate for the next book and need it like yesterday? 100% yes.

This is my favourite so far!

I have loved Eremourie's character since she appeared in the Gatemaker series and I was so excited when this book came out. It didn't disappoint! The shadows had me in their clutches from the very first page and long after I'd read the end, couldn't read it fast enough. Can't wait for the second part of this duet and Im excited to see where it goes from here.

This has been long awaited and I'm so honoured to be on the arc team, because honestly I adore Maggie and her books always capture me so much.
This is the fifth book in the gatemaker universe. This is Princess Eremouries story, she is Lysais's sister. The story takes place in Teneria, a shadow world. It follows on from book four ( not saying much in case you haven't read the previous books).

Her father is vile, so she is quiet and dutiful or so it seems to him, he doesn't know the secrets she holds. But someone has caught her eye, whilst another captures her heart but where will her heart lead her out will she have a choice?

Watch out for Lord Chaiyn, he isn't all he seems and Jakiel well he's a sweetheart bless him.

This book is a little darker than the others, maybe for some a lot more so do read the warnings.

Honestly Maggie is the queen of cliffhangers so I wasn't surprised when it ended as it did lol, yeah thanks for that (again) lol..I honestly can't wait for more because I think my heart dropped out my arse at the end 😂 😂
