The story is essentially about two people, Parth and Rucha, whose destinies collide not in any dramatic event but in daily routine and mutual moments. Their relationship is formed through time, through observation, emotional consciousness, and understanding each other as opposed to being dramatic or being driven by circumstances. The name Pune Junction is used to represent a gateway, a physical and emotional level, a place of crossing of tracks in life where the paths intersect and new lives start.
The sense of familiarity, comfort, and emotional closeness is perfectly rendered in the novel without rhetoric statements, which makes the story seem realistic and incredibly close to a heart. It lacks rapid twists and turns but rather moves at a slow tempo letting the reader feel about the emotional and psychological worlds of the characters. There is always an excitement in reading one of your favourite authors trying a new genre. I remember feeling the same excitement when Chetan Bhagat, Ashwin Sanghi, and Amish Tripathi experimented with non-fiction, and I experienced a similar feeling when I saw Pranay’s update on social media about his attempt at a love story. I have finally finished reading his latest book, “Pune Junction,” which is around 270 pages long. It felt refreshing to read him writing a soft, emotional story after having read his dark and action-packed duologies and trilogies like The Lost World and The Kavaach series respectively.
Pranay’s writing style has been kept simple to cater to Gen-Z and young school- and college-going readers who do not enjoy complicated storytelling. This is a light read in terms of storyline and works perfectly as a travel companion or a relaxing weekend read. Pranay has structured the chapters interestingly—even though the timelines do not switch this time, the voice of narration does, as the story is told in the first person alternatively. The two main protagonists, Parth and Rucha, keep narrating their versions of the same storyline, with slight progression each time, which helps the reader move smoothly into the next scene.
The author has nicely created the setup of how a fresh college graduate enters the corporate world and finds everything new and different from his previous life. The way he describes the room of a bachelor employee, the habit of saving colleagues’ contacts names with company references, the new addiction to coffee, and how older employees prefer stepping outside the campus for tea or coffee despite free options at work—all these details feel relatable and authentic.
The characterization of both protagonists is well communicated. You get a clear glimpse of how anxious, nervous, and excited Parth is, while Rucha comes across as confident, ambitious, and a dreamer. Their initial interactions and subsequent dates are handled with restraint, without forcing unnecessary steamy scenes into the narrative. This shows Pranay’s confidence as a writer, as he avoids adding artificial elements merely to spice up the story. He works with a simple plot and builds the narration around it effectively. However, while reading the love story, you may be reminded of films like Saiyaara or Aashiqui 2, especially in the last one-third of the book where the setup feels quite similar. I personally wished the author had chosen a different direction, as it reduces the sense of freshness and makes it feel like another familiar love story.
While reading, I initially wondered why Pune as a city was repeatedly being brought into the conversations between the characters, but then it struck me that the title itself is based on the city. The author’s love for Pune is evident in the way he begins the journey from Shaniwar Wada and takes readers through different locations. However, I felt he could have explored the city more deeply by mentioning local cuisines and popular couple hotspots. That would have made the city feel more organically integrated into the love story rather than slightly forced in certain sections.
Talking about the drawbacks, I feel the simple storyline could have been comfortably wrapped up within 230–250 pages and did not necessarily require the current length. The author also needs to invest more in proofreading, as I noticed several typos and grammatical errors this time—something quite different from his earlier books, which were more polished. It felt as if the book went to print in a hurry. As mentioned earlier, the final section resembles several Bollywood films and books with similar storylines, making the ending somewhat predictable. I would rate this book 3.25 stars out of 5. Definitely not Pranay’s best work, but I am sure he will bounce back strongly with his next one. Do read it if you enjoy sweet and simple love stories.

The book is really about how people think about life and what it means to exist. It is like what Sartre or Camus said. It is not as hard to understand. The book asks a question: what do people do when they are waiting for something to happen? The idea of a junction is like a symbol for life. It is a place where people can move around and make choices but they are never really sure what will happen next. The people in the book are always making decisions even when they are not really sure what they are doing and that is like life. We often do things without thinking. Then later we try to understand why we did them. The book shows that the human existence is, like that. We. Then we think about it not the other way around.
The novel is really into this thing called phenomenology which's the philosophy of what we experience in our lives. Little things are important: like a conversation that you remember or a moment of silence that you share with someone or when someone says sorry without saying it. The point is not forced on you it just happens. This way of not telling the reader how to feel is very deep and thoughtful. The book has faith, in the readers ability to understand things.

One of the cutest reads I've had in a while.
It gives a reminder that some people don’t come into our lives to stay, they come to change the direction of it. It felt like watching two lives slowly cross paths at the right time, stay together for a while, and unknowingly change each other in ways they themselves don’t fully understand at first.
It is very true that some cities settle so deep inside you, you carry a part of them everywhere you go.
Watching Parth's love for Pune was the same.
Sometimes we don’t just remember people; we remember places because of who we were when we lived there. Pune, in this story, feels alive in that sense — like a city that quietly holds memories, late conversations, unfinished feelings, and versions of ourselves we eventually outgrow but never completely forget. The story made me think about how certain cities become emotional landmarks in our lives, even after we leave them behind.
The junction here also holds importance because it is never really a destination — it’s a place where people arrive from different directions, pause for a while, and then move ahead on their own journeys.

But unfortunately one day out of nowhere their world collapsed. It was sudden but irreversible. Time stopped and nothing made sense. It was heartbreaking to see their little love nest collapsing. Everything happened so fast that there was no time think or act.

I liked the cover image of this book which actually made me think it would have a different plot rather than its original story. I also liked that small twist in it. Let me break the secret for you here, No it is not a love story that happens in a single day during a rail journey or at a railway station. This is a full length love story set in and around the city of Pune.
The main characters of the story are Parth and Rucha. Just like in most love stories, they have contrasting tastes in their nature and personalities but as in the usual love theory, their love too begins to bloom. They meet each other at work and through simple, everyday and realistic conversations their emotions grow and their love starts to flourish. What happens after this forms the rest of the story.

A story of love.. heartbreak and something entirely human , real and raw - the play of fate. With a clear dual POV narration, the author gives his best in communicating Rucha and Parth's emotions in one book 🥴🤌🏻
This story, unlike others isn't dramatic; be it in the grand gestures of love or any other elements of the book. It's just.. simple, the way our life is. The narration of mundane things like, going to the office, being with colleagues, enjoying the weekends, Pranay slowly falling for Rucha, his senior at the office and every single of their 'dates with Pune' are beautifully expressed.

I thought, "Here we go, people coming from a different place, meeting in a city, and falling in love," as I took up the book and read that the main character, Parth, had traveled to Pune from his hometown as a fresher for a job at Infosys and met Rucha. But was I mistaken?
The characters of Rucha and Prath are the real heart of the book; they go on non-romantic dates with Pune, exploring the city, dining, trekking on their scooters, and taking strolls around the city. Not only do you fall in love with these charming folks, but you also fall in love with the city.
The readers start exploring Pune through their lens, from Shanivar Wada to Tamhini Ghat to them exploring books at ABC Street to the festive atmosphere during Ganesh Chaturti. We see their relationship grow, and it doesn't feel very rushed. Everything is going too well in this book; the artist Parth and the writer/storyteller Rucha's relationship hits a rock, and that shattered my heart into pieces. So yes, brace yourself to cry during the later chapters.
There is even a POV from Pune as a city, and it was refreshing to read this chapter about a city observing little things about its residents
