He says she’s obsessed. She says he’s a liar…

I have the perfect life. The perfect home with the perfect husband, who I still can’t believe chose me. The only dark blemish is her.

Cynthia started stalking my husband years ago. She’s obsessed – unhinged. And her behaviour is rocks through the window, warnings scrawled on our driveway.

But then the messages change. They used to tell him to leave me, but now they say my husband isn’t who I think he is. That I’m in danger. That I should run…

When I finally tell Dan, he acts like I’m making it up. Cynthia isn’t even in the country, so she can’t possibly be behind all these so-called threats. I can’t believe how cold he’s being.

I’m terrified of losing him, but I know I’m not crazy. If Cynthia isn’t the one stalking my husband, then who is?

And who should I believe? My caring, loving husband, or someone I’ve never met – but who seems to know more about the man I married than I do?

He says she's obsessed. She says he's a liar....

The story is basically about Freya and her psychologist husband Dan and all the crazy things that keep happening. Dan has been stalked for quite some time by a former patient of his named Cynthia. However recently things are getting much worse. And if that's not enough there also seems to be a killer loose in the neighborhood....

This was my first book from Simmonds and I was quite pleased by the book. It has some pretty awesome twists, a few I saw coming and others that honestly shocked me! It's definitely a book that was easy to get lost in and I will admit I stayed up reading a few nights in a row.

I received a copy in exchange for my honest review.

I wanted to love this book but Freya drove me crazy. At first I thought it was a slow build up, she would eventually get smart, but it never happened. She would have a quick moment of intelligence and quickly lose it. I did enjoy the overall plot and the clever twist at the end. I would try this author again.

Wow. Definite Lisa Jewell vibes! And if you loved the Housemaid, this will be right up your alley.

Freya is madly in love with her psychologist husband Dan. They have the perfect life except for one little thing. Dan has a stalker. An obsessed woman who won’t leave them alone and when things escalate Freya will be questioning who she believes.

I thought I knew where this was going but I was completely wrong, ha. Lots of surprising twists. I really liked the main character Freya and this is told from her POV. It was a very enjoyable easy read - so I breezed through this one and it was a good pace throughout.

Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for the advanced copy.

My Husband’s Stalker by Natali Simmonds kept me turning the pages — though not always for the reasons I’d hoped.

Freya becomes increasingly unsettled when another woman appears to be fixated on her husband. What starts as suspicion slowly escalates into paranoia and obsession, and the premise itself is strong. There’s a steady undercurrent of unease running through the story that fits the domestic thriller genre well.

It’s important to say that Freya is carrying a huge amount of emotional baggage. Her father is suffering from dementia, and her best friend was murdered three years earlier... trauma that understandably shapes how she sees the world. Her anxiety and distrust don’t come out of nowhere. That context adds depth to her character and explains why she reacts the way she does.

One line that really stood out to me comes from her father:

“Have you noticed how sometimes we want something so much we invent what we are seeing? It's not real, the things we believe, they are just the things we think matter.”

That quote perfectly captures the novel’s exploration of perception, grief, and how easily fear can distort reality. In many ways, it feels like the emotional core of the story.

However, despite understanding why Freya behaves the way she does, I still struggled with her. I found myself more annoyed than sympathetic at times. Some of her decisions felt frustrating rather than compelling, and instead of feeling tense alongside her, I often felt impatient. When you don’t fully connect with the protagonist in a psychological thriller, it inevitably affects the reading experience.

The pacing is quick and the pages genuinely do turn fast but for me it felt more like I was trying to get through it rather than being completely gripped.

That said, the twist at the end is genuinely satisfying. It reframes events in a clever way and adds a layer that makes the journey feel more worthwhile. Without giving anything away, the final reveal definitely lifted this to a solid 3.5 stars (but not quite 4) for me.

Overall, an easy, fast domestic thriller with a strong closing twist even if I found the emotional journey frustrating at times.

Thank you to NetGalley and Natali Simmonds for the advance review copy. I received this ARC for free and am leaving this review voluntarily.

Exciting and effortlessly absorbing, this is my kind of binge-read (4.5 stars)

Natali Simmonds’ last book but one, While My Baby Sleeps, tells the story of a young mother’s severe sleep deprivation. I mention this because it’s kind of ironic, really, given that there is a very real possibility of the same thing happening to you when you read this one.

In my case, I began reading My Husband’s Stalker in the pub – my dog makes me do it – late on a Friday evening after one of the most exhausting weeks at work that I had had in quite some time. And the time it took for me to sip a couple of much-needed, relaxing drinks was easily enough for the book to have begun to work its magic. That night, when the dog told me it was time to go home – yep, she does that, too – I really didn’t mind. I actually couldn’t wait to sit down on the sofa and carry on reading.

And then someone, or something stole a few hours and suddenly it was past 1am. I have no idea what, if anything happened in the meantime, there could have been an earthquake for all I knew or cared. All I was aware of was that I had been utterly absorbed in the book, and that I had stopped reading only because my eyes were ready to bleed.

I did sleep, briefly. But after some significantly shorter time than the recommended eight hours, I was wide awake again and my first reaction was to reach for my kindle. After which I effortlessly finished the book before getting out of bed that morning.

‘Unputdownable’ is a word that’s very much over-used to describe books. But I hope the above demonstrates that in this case, it really is justified.

When Freya learns that her husband of three years, Dan, has a stalker, her – and our – first reaction is to be afraid for him. But – I hesitate to use the word slowly, because the pace of this book is anything but slow – gradually, the messages change. They’re not directed at Dan, but at Freya. They’re telling her to run. That her husband isn’t the man she thinks he is.

Then we notice Dan’s behaviour begin to change, and the red flags are screaming in our faces. And we, in turn, scream at Freya to notice the signs that are right in front of her eyes. But Freya …

Natali Simmonds has taken a brave step in creating a main character, and sole narrator who isn’t someone you admire for their mental strength and resilience. I think, though, that she’s pulled it off. Freya is a woman who, in many ways, has had to grow up too soon and too fast. But the same circumstances have left her childishly innocent and naive in other ways. She’s dependent on Dan, because he gave her a sense of security that nobody else had done.

Some reviewers have said that they found the character of Freya annoying, and to an extent that’s true. But I actually thought that it made her seem more real. You’ve probably got a friend, or a partner, who irritates the living hell out of you now and again. But it doesn’t mean you love them any less. That’s how it was for me with Freya. There were times when I wanted to grab her by the shoulders and shake her, but only because I cared about her. It was wonderful.

I have just a couple of small, but not insignificant quibbles. Firstly, the ending. I hope it’s not too much of a spoiler to say that there are two big revelations, either one of which I could happily have accepted, and believed, in isolation. But to have them both come immediately after one another in the space of almost as many chapters felt a bit too much. As entertainment, it’s fantastic, but at the same time it’s not so great in a psychological thriller, which by definition doesn’t work if it isn’t credible.

My second, and only other critical point is really this. You’ll hopefully have already worked out that I enjoyed My Husband’s Stalker very much indeed. But is it a book that I’ll clearly remember a year from now, or one that will provoke a lively discussion at my local book club?

I have to say … probably not. Which is a pity only because the same author also wrote Good Girls Die Last, which is very much both of these things.

My thanks to Bookouture for my inclusion on the blog tour for this book, which was published in the UK on 25th March. My review is also available on my blog at www.mycosybooknook.wordpress.com and will be shared on Amazon and my social media pages.

My Husband's Stalker by Natali Simmonds

Do you believe women, or the guy you've been married to for 3 years?

The first half of the story went smoothly, fast paced, unreliable characters, lots of twists and turns. I was enjoying the whole "do I even know my husband" vibe and the suspense that came along with it.

In the second half, when the confrontation of Freya with the mysterious attacker finally happens, I genuinely felt, "that's it???"

The rest of the second half tries to convince us that the said uncovered detail is true, with Freya growing more suspicious of the said culprit. And then, it becomes kinda predictable as to how's the story going to end.

I want to say that I'm not criticising the ending. Maybe I spent too much attention to minor details, and it was just some good foreshadowing.

What I do want to talk about, is Freya's character arc. I felt like throughout the story, this character went from sacred and guilty, to suspicious and guilty, to guilty, to finally angry. We were told the story from her POV, but it felt as if she's a bystander in her own story. She has no friends, her family is not that close, everything and everyone "meaningful" she has in her life is Daniel. He's the only constant in her life.

And that's why this story works. Because it shows how some abusive relationships function. The abuser cuts off the abused from any communication from the outside world. They make the other so codependent on them, that they have the power to control how emotionally regulated the other feels. They can pull back whenever they want, making the abused feel guilty for not being capable of regulating both of their emotional states.

Even though Freya feels VERY ANNOYING sometimes, that's because we're looking at their relationship as an outsider. I realised why the society might (and mostly DOES) believe the man in this situation, because it feels like the woman is reacting strongly to demure situations. But the underlying cause is often lost to us bystanders. Simmonds has done a great job at bringing it to light.

Lastly, this book is recommended to all those who love a good psychological thriller, and those who fall head over heels for an amazing domestic thriller.

Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for the advanced copy of this title in return for an honest review.

It opens with a bang and you just know this is going to be delicious!

I read hundreds of thrillers a year, some better than others, but overall I find them to be good reads. I have also read (I think) all of Natali's published thrillers, and she is up there with the best. Before I even start I know I'm going to love it. She is a master of building up tension, of writing a slow thriller, a menacing thriller, a nervous thriller.

It has nice short chapters; I prefer short chapters anyway, but they really help add to the tension of this story.

Our main characters are Freya and Dan. I hated Dan almost instantly. He's rude, selfish, controlling, overbearing, and just too nice. Whereas Freya, whilst sometimes a bit of a wet weekend, she was a lovely character, full of heart and love, she's grieving, she's stressed, she just wants to help and for everything and everyone to be okay.

You spend the whole book unsure who to trust, who to believe, who is telling the truth and who is lying. You think it's going to go one way and then it spins and goes a completely different way and you're back to square one. You almost become a character yourself, as you start to question yourself as if it's going on in your own life.

Everything about this is perfect: plot, characters, twists and turns, setting, narrative, writing - just everything. I will continue to recommend her books to anyone and everyone, and I'm already counting down the days to the next one.

Natali's books are so exciting and so fast-paced, and I finished this in a matter of hours, I just couldn't put it down until I'd finished it.

And the ending - I didn't see that coming!

I try not to compare books, saying the author's second book is better than their first, for example, and I won't do that here. What I will say is that it is just as five-star as her previous ones. She is a go-to thriller writer, one of my favourites, and most recommended, and I aim to read everything she writes.

Genre Fans Will Enjoy Yet Will Be Problematic For Some. As a generic domestic thriller/ suspense, this book has a lot of things going for it in that it hits pretty well every genre expectation and hits them all in the exact expected order and even within the bounds of a nearly MadLibbed version of so many books within this genre. To the point that yes, this book could well be programmed - it is *that* level of algorithmic. (To be clear, I am in no way saying it *was*, simply that it is so formulaic that a program *could* create it.) Which is *AWESOME* for those who love this genre the way Hallmarkies love their small town romances. You know *exactly* what you're getting here, and there is pretty well literally nothing about this book that is going to actually shock you. It is the *exact* kind of mildly shocking yet entertaining mystery that you expect for the genre, and if this is your particular 'comfort blanket' read, hey, more power to you. Pick this one up, you're going to love it.

Where exactly it could become problematic for some is a particular refrain throughout the book that our lead uses... but due to its nature I shall not reveal it here. What I'll point out instead is that if you think it resolves itself... keep reading. Had the tale ended at one particular point, meh, you'd likely be right. But it didn't, and thus the tale ultimately remains problematic from at least that viewpoint. Which some readers will agree that it is problematic and others will argue at least as loudly that those readers are wrong. Your mileage will absolutely vary on this point based on your own thoughts on the topic.

Still, again, even with this, for most it will be a minor annoyance at best, and genre lovers in particular will still enjoy this book. Will it be memorable even at the end of the month, much less the year? Unlikely. But it will absolutely be that next "Hallmark movie" for you to enjoy for a few hours, and really, isn't this ultimately why so many of us read at all?

Recommended.

My Husband’s Stalker is a slick, addictive psychological thriller that plays beautifully with doubt, loyalty, and the terrifying possibility that the person you trust most might be the one you should fear. It has that elegant, easy-to-read style that keeps the tension simmering without ever tipping into melodrama, and I found myself racing through chapters just to untangle who was actually telling the truth.

The setup is instantly gripping: a woman who believes she has the perfect marriage, suddenly confronted with a stalker from her husband’s past… only for the warnings to shift and point directly at him. The way the story handles this slow erosion of certainty is one of its strongest elements. Every rock through the window, every message scrawled on the driveway, every evasive answer from Dan adds another layer of unease. You feel the narrator’s confusion and fear tightening around her, and the domestic setting makes it all the more claustrophobic.

What I enjoyed most is how the novel keeps the reader suspended between two possibilities—either the husband is lying, or the stalker is far more dangerous than anyone realised. The tension builds through small, believable moments: a cold reaction, a missing detail, a conversation overheard at the wrong time. It’s the kind of thriller where you’re constantly second‑guessing everyone, including the narrator herself.

The pacing is sharp, the twists land cleanly, and the emotional stakes feel real. It’s a story about obsession, manipulation, and the blind spots we create when we want our lives to look perfect. Fans of domestic suspense and twisty, character‑driven thrillers will find this one incredibly moreish.

A tense, elegant, and compulsively readable thriller that kept me turning pages long after I meant to stop.

After losing her best friend Harper, her mother, and watching her father fade away in a nursing home, life had already taken so much from her. Freya thought she finally found peace when she get married to Dan. Charming. Calm. A psychiatrist. A man who felt like safety when everything else was falling apart.
But peace never stays too long in thrillers like this.
Cynthia, Dan’s patient, starts sending threats. Notes. Warnings. Obsession. She claims Dan belongs to her. She wants Freya gone. It feels terrifying but simple at first. A disturbed woman obsessed with her husband.
Then the messages change. Now the warnings are not about staying away from Dan. They are about escaping him. And that is when everything starts to feel wrong.
This book had me completely hooked. I was reading fast, then faster, then even faster. Every time I thought I understood what was happening, the story shifted. The lies and truths kept mixing together until I did not know what was real anymore. I felt exactly what Freya felt. Confused. Uneasy. Slightly paranoid.
The writing is sharp and addictive. The pacing is perfect. No slow dragging chapters. Every chapter adds something new, something suspicious, something that makes you side-eye everyone.
Dan’s character especially was written so well. Calm on the outside, but something always felt slightly off. That quiet tension made the whole book even more intense.
And the ending. I did not see that coming at all. It flipped everything in the last stretch and left me staring at the pages. I love when a thriller makes me feel foolish in the best way.

I received an ARC of My Husband’s Stalker by Natali Simmonds and overall I really enjoyed this psychological thriller.

The story follows Freya, who appears to have the perfect life with the perfect husband and the perfect house. Her husband has a stalker. When strange things start happening again, Freya begins questioning whether the danger has returned or if there is something else is going on.

This was definitely more of a slow and steady build at first, but once the story picked up it became hard to stop reading. There was a lot of the tension that came from not really knowing who to trust and constantly questioning if Dan is actually the person Freya believes he is. Freya seems to have put good old Dan on a pedestal and you can't really be sure if he should actually be up there or not. With a story like this, you instinctively want to believe the woman, but Freya is so wrapped up in her love for Dan that it makes you question whether she might be overlooking things or if she actually is a little crazy and obsessively in love.

Freya as a character honestly frustrated me quite a bit at times. She often felt unsure of herself and made choices that made me want to shake her a little, but at the same time I understood why the story needed her to react that way. With everything she was dealing with emotionally, it made sense even if it occasionally drove me crazy as a reader.

There were a few twists throughout the book. One moment kind of close to the end felt a little unnecessary and slightly random, but the final twist at the very end was genuinely surprising and not something I saw coming.

Overall, this was a solid psychological thriller with plenty of tension and suspicion about who can actually be trusted.

My Husband’s Stalker has all the ingredients for an unputdownable read, and with a couple of excepttions it delivered. Coming up to their first wedding anniversary , Freya and Dan are still very much in love. At times it all seemed too good to be true, and as the story progressed, I wasn’t surprised when things began to fall apart. One of Dan’s patients has just been given a restraining order for stalking him, and yet letters to him are still arriving in the post. Instead of telling Dan, Freya hides them thinking she is protecting him, but in doing so, her mental health has been affected.
Freya is an insecure individual. Her back story showed that from childhood she had been through a lot of emotional turmoil, which appeared to still affect her. She was therefore prone to stressful events triggering periods of self-doubt and low esteem. Although I guess I should have felt sorry for her, some of the actions were questionable, which means she brought a lot of the misery on herself. She appeared to need Dan to constantly reassure her and make her feel better about herself.
The story was definitely a page turner.. Dan, who at first appeared to be the perfect husband, soon began to arouse my suspicions. He was manipulating in a very subtle way, and clearly had an agenda. Apart from him, there appeared to be no individual you could identify as being responsible for causing so much mayhem in Freya's life.
Of course, all good psychological thrillers cleverly lead you in the wrong direction. This book was no exception and delivered a huge twist at the end which I didn’t see coming.
If I have one criticism it is Chapters 37 and 42 where I really had to suspend belief at the credibility of Freya’s actions. Other than this, it was an enjoyable read.

I told myself I was going to take my time with this book, but really, this book took my time. I didn’t want to read a single word of anything else until I knew how this story would end.

It opens with a jolt, and from that moment, I was all in. We’re quickly taken back to the week before, where we watch Freya’s world slowly begin to unravel. I had mixed emotions about her. At first, I empathized deeply with her situation, but as the story progressed, I found myself confused by her neediness and her complete lack of awareness of it. At one point, she felt like a red flag herself. But as more was revealed, I began to understand how she had gotten there, and that shift made her character all the more compelling.

I thought I had pieced everything together early on, but the author kept me guessing. Even when I felt confident in my predictions, I still had doubts. The twists didn’t just arrive; they kept arriving. Just when I thought the story had shown its hand, there was more waiting beneath the surface.

There were also characters I absolutely adored, and I found myself genuinely invested in how their stories would resolve. The suspense kept me on edge, and even when I thought I knew what was coming, the author still managed to surprise me in ways I didn’t expect.

I gave this 4 stars because it didn’t quite reach that unforgettable five-star level for me, but it came close. This was a gripping, suspenseful read that I thoroughly enjoyed, and I would absolutely recommend it to anyone who loves a thriller that keeps you hooked until the very last page.

When you work with people with mental health issues, you want to help them as best as possible, just as you would with people who have physical problems. Up to that point, the goals are 100% the same for both doctor and patient. But there’s a big “but.” People with physical issues tend to see their relationship with medical professionals as something rather professional, whereas those struggling with psychological problems may begin to interpret care, concern, and empathy as something more. At first, maybe just friendship, but it can grow into infatuation or even obsession. And if they find that their feelings are not reciprocated, they could potentially become a stalker…

Even at the beginning, this can seem harmless but annoying. The more their “loved one” withdraws, the more their attachment grows, and eventually it could escalate, with all the consequences that come with it…

Unfortunately, the hands of the police are tied as long as nothing serious happens — which is exactly what should be avoided. Hopefully, it won’t be too late…

An intriguing story that keeps you going back and forth between who is telling the truth and who is deceiving you.

Great characters, though not all of them, of course — it is a thriller, after all — with a few clever twists that make the reading experience even more enjoyable.

For me, definitely worth 5 stars.

Thank you.

“YOUR HUSBAND ISN’T WHO HE SAYS HE IS”

Freya got the perfect life, the perfect house, and supposedly the perfect husband, but there’s only one problem: her husband, Dan, has a stalker.

Freya thought that Cynthia’s stalking was over years ago, but soon, messages and strange things began happening around the house.

They soon realize Cynthia isn’t even in the country, so who is this new stalker?

“Believe what women say,” she says. “Don’t be his next victim.”

Should Freya trust this woman? What if her husband is a liar? Find out March 25, 2026!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Omg I did not see that ending taking that twist. It was a slow and steady read, but it definitely picks up, and it was such a good thriller.

It’s a rollercoaster of who to trust and if you can truly trust the husband. I was very suspicious of Dan, and the way he acted I couldn’t stand him. Freya felt innocent and unsure who to trust while also grieving the loss of her best friend and the loss of her father’s dementia. I felt sad and drawn to her character, making you feel you need to protect her.

Perfect for fans of The Housemaid and the Perfect Marriage.

Rating: ⭐⭐¾ (2.75 stars)

My Husband’s Stalker had an interesting premise centered around psychological manipulation, denial, and the way people cling to the life they believe they have—even when warning signs begin to appear.

The book was easy to read and the story moves along quickly. I found the psychological dynamic between the characters to be one of the more compelling aspects of the novel. There are moments where the protagonist is forced to confront uncomfortable truths, yet she chooses to hold on to the version of reality that feels safest to her. That internal conflict was one of the more interesting elements of the story.

However, as someone who reads a lot of psychological thrillers, I personally found myself wanting more tension throughout the book. While the premise was intriguing, the suspense never fully built to the level I was hoping for. At times the story also felt weighed down by details that slowed the pacing, and the ending felt somewhat rushed compared to the buildup leading up to it.

Overall, this was an okay read for me. I didn’t regret reading it, but it also wasn’t one that left a strong impression. That said, readers who enjoy slower-burn psychological suspense and relationship-driven thrillers may find more to enjoy here.

As always, this is just my personal reading experience, and other readers may connect with the story differently.

I have the perfect life. The perfect home with the perfect husband, who I still can't believe chose me. The only dark blemish is her. Cynthia started stalking my husband years ago. She's obsessed, unhinged. And her behaviour is rocks through the windows, warnings scrawled on the driveway. But then her messages change. They used to tell him to leave me, but now they say my husband isn't who I think he is. That I'm in danger. That I should run.... When I finally tell Dan, he acts like I'm making it up. Cynthia isn't even in the country, so she can't be behind all these so-called threats. I can't believe how cold he's being. I'm terrified of loving him, but i know I'm not crazy. If Cynthia isn't the one stalking my husband, then who is?

Freya believes someone is stalking her husband Dan. I was never sure who I could trust, but one thing I did know was that I didn't like Dan. The pace was steady and the plot was well-written. But you are compelled to keep reading and you'll keep asking yourself if Dan was all that Freya thought he was. We got a few twists along the way. I wasn't sure what I was going to get from this book, but I quite enjoyed it.

I would like to thank #NetGalley #Bookouture and the author #NataliSimmons for my ARC of #MyHusbandsStalker in exchange for an honest review.

Massive thanks to Natali Simmons, Bookouture and NetGalley for the free advanced copy of My Husband's Stalker. This review is being left voluntarily and all opinions are my own.

This book is very cleverly written, although slightly slow paced at times. I enjoyed reading it, although there were points when I didn't feel it overly stood out from many of the other thrillers I have read.

I felt the author does a really good job of painting a picture of the mind of the female lead character Freya and the seemingly daily turmoil she goes through, as a result of a combination of past trauma and her current situation.

I was suspicious of her husband, Dan, at most points during the book. The micro aggressions, both psychological and physical, hint that he might not be the amazing man everyone, his wife included, believe him to be.

Much like Freya herself, at points I had no idea who to believe or trust. I had my own theories about what was going on but they changed as more characters were introduced and more extreme situations arose.

Although slower paced for the first two thirds of the book, the final third more than made up for it and I was desperate to read on in order to find out the truth.

I was convinced I had worked it out but I couldnt have been more wrong. The ending was genuinely brilliant and made it a book I will definitely recommend.

Freya is easily a love/hate character. And I primarily did not like her, however I do think she was exactly right for this story. She is super annoying and meek is the other word that comes to mind to describe her. She claims to believe women and then doesn't when it comes to her for much of the book. However she reminds me of people who are all too happy to give out good advice and then not take it for themselves. Dan acts exactly as I would expect for the looks good on the outside, is abusive at home type. I think their relationship is what makes the story work, it helps the reader understand how some abusive relationships work.

That said. There were some twists that I called and some that I definitely did not expect. Cynthia's twist felt like it was only there to pull the story together and felt a little out of place. I kind of wonder if there weren't a way for Eren's storyline to overlap there instead. Gosh this review sounds really negative, but I did really enjoy it once I could get past Freya's character a little bit. I think the relationship was well done, I think Dan and his behavior was really well done, which made Freya's character feel well done, especially later on, and I loved how she grew towards the end of the story. As always I can't wait to see what Natali Simmonds brings us next.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author via Netgalley and Bookouture in exchange for an honest review.

My Husband’s Stalker is a fast-paced psychological thriller that had me hooked from start to finish. The thrill of a mystery book lies in how well the twists and revelations keep you on the edge of your seat, and this book does it perfectly.
The story is narrated through Freya’s POV. On the surface, her marriage seems perfect, but the relationship is at stake because of a stalker who wants Dan for herself and she’s willing to go to any length to get the wife out of the way.
I kept trying to predict the twist, but it was absolutely not what I expected. The reveal was mind-boggling, and the ending was completely different from what I imagined.
Somehow, I wanted the connection between Freya and her father to be deeper. It felt like there were missed opportunities for her to support him, and I was honestly baffled by her decision to sell the house again at the end.Bella, in my opinion, was the smartest character independent, bold, and outspoken , even if she had drifted away from her sister and father. Regardless, she was there when Freya needed her most.
At times, Freya’s delusions were frustrating. I wondered why she didn't try to find out more. The altercation at the Hope Institution was both insane and strangely realistic.
If you like thrillers, this is a must-read

First, I want to thank Natali Simmonds, Bookouture and NetGalley for providing me with this book so I can bring you this review.

”YOUR HUSBAND ISN’T WHO HE SAYS HE IS” Natali Simmonds freaked the heck out of me in the first chapter of My Husband’s Stalker!! WOWZERS!! What a way to start her latest Psychological Thriller!! This was a fast paced, addicting, and twisted read!

I am a fan of both Psychological Thrillers and Emotional Reads. With Natali’s storylines I was able to get the best of both worlds. Natali pulled hard multiple times with the interaction of Freya and her father who seemed to have memory issues. What made me tear up was hearing Belle’s story and what she meant to Freya. That whole scene was from a Hallmark Movie.

What I thought was comical is between all this stalker drama Freya and Dan were able to have some hot steamy moments!

I got a total kick on how the kitten's name was Sushi.

I couldn’t agree with Dan more on the point that grief and trauma don’t disappear after an allocated time. I totally felt the emotional pain Freya was going through with her tremendous loss of her best friend Harper! I fully understand what she goes through with her panic attacks and her anxiety.

This is another twisted read to add to your TBR pile.

3.5 stars!
I have read an ARC from NetGalley. All opinions are my own. I found this to be mostly an enjoyable read. I did find the main character Freya to be rather annoying at times as she came across as repetitive and a bit weak, but the reason for that all becomes clear at the end. I just feel that perhaps this went on for a little bit too long. She is so fickle, seeming to believe whatever anyone tells her with little of her own opinion, or self worth to be honest. Having said that, she did have redeemable qualities and the twists at the end help everything to fall into place. The narrative built well with each new layer adding more complexity and uncertainty as to what was going on. The twists at the end were very good, especially the final chapter.

I found the story quite slow at times and felt like I was just trying to get through it. This is a shame as the concept is great and the ending fully makes up for it, I wonder whether a bit more strength from Freya would’ve made it feel less ‘sluggish’ at times.

Overall, it is a good read and many people will find it gripping and will love the twists.

Freya has the perfect life with her husband Dan, all expect for her husband’s stalker Cynthia. Cynthia has been obsessed for years and now her behaviour is escalating, with warnings and threats. But then her actions take a turn and instead Freya gets a warning that she is in danger from her husband. When she tells Dan he says it can’t be true as Cynthia is out of the country. If that’s the case who is her husband stalker?

Natali Simmonds is a go to author for me, so I was excited to read this one. The concept sounded like it would be a fun, twisty tale and this ended up an accurate description. There were plenty of twists and turns, I thought I knew where the story was going but found that I wasn’t fully right with the final twist. Although this was an entertaining story, I’ll have to admit that this wasn’t my favourite by this author, as I found it took much longer to start to go anywhere and felt slow in the run up. Even so, this was still a solid thriller and the author definitely remains on the must read list. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this copy in return for an honest review

Freya and Dan are married. He's a psychologist and a very handsome man. There are several people in the story that keep telling Freya that her husband is not a good man, but she ignores all that. They have been together for three years and she's so in love with and dependent on him. I must admit I got quite annoyed by how gullible and naive she was acting, like if someone kept mentioning that and especially multiple people telling her he's bad, I would at least try to check it out to see if there was any basis in it. There are some murders and attacks on women in the area, including the murder of Freya's best friend three years ago that has been unsolved. I thought I knew where the story was heading but then I got whiplashed into it being something else to then being whiplashed again at the end. I am not going to explain that because I don't want to give any spoilers. I was at maybe 4 stars through most of the first part of the book but then the towards the end I got shocked at how it all wrapped up and how jerked around I got that I increased the rating to 5 stars. Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for the complimentary copy of the story.

My Husband’s Stalker

I have never read a book by Natali Simmonds but I will definitely read more!

My Husband’s Stalker starts at a pace that allows the author to develop the characters especially the main character Freya and her history. Then the plot twists start coming you won’t be able to put it down!

Freya has a history of trauma - first the death of her mother when she was very young which left her to help raise her baby sister, to the more recent trauma caused by the murder of her best friend.

Freya is now living a perfect life in her family home and with her husband Dan, a very handsome Psychiatrist. Freya’s trauma begins to resurface as her husband deals with an ex-patient who is stalking him. Her husband tries to reassure her that he has everything under control but things start to escalate Freya questions herself and the trust she has in her husband.

The story is told from Freya’s point of view which allows you to see the roller coaster of emotions that she goes through because of her husband and his stalker. For those that like domestic suspense/trillers this is definitely recommended.

3.25 to be awkward.

Not my usual genre at all, but the description piqued my interest, and I’m glad it did. I rather liked this one.

My Husband’s Stalker follows Freya and her husband Dan. On the surface, they have a sickeningly perfect life, apart from Cynthia. A former psychiatric patient of Dan’s, Cynthia has developed an unsettling obsession with him, leaving messages for Freya demanding she leave her husband. Soon the messages shift from jealous threats to ominous warnings about Dan, and Freya’s carefully curated life begins to spiral.

This was quite the page-turner — so much so that I managed to devour the whole thing during a quiet shift at work.

Simmonds dangles a number of threads for the reader to follow, and I’m pleased to say I was genuinely caught off guard by where the story ultimately landed.

There were multiple points where I wanted to reach in and shake Freya senseless, but there was more than enough intrigue to keep me firmly hooked.

A highly competent thriller. Worth a look.

With thanks to Bookouture for the ARC.

Well that was a chaotic thrill ride! The story follows Freya, whose life starts going sideways when another woman goes all bunny boiler on her husband. Suddenly Nicole’s dealing with manipulation & intimidation, not knowing who to trust.

The tension builds as we see Freya trying to prove what’s happening while people around her question her sanity is incredibly frustrating, but in a good, thriller-y way. You uncover more of her past which helps to explain why she is the way she is but the frustration is still there at times.

The twists are also nice & twisty! Just when you think you’ve worked out where the story’s heading, the plot pulls the rug out from under you and suddenly everything feels a lot more sinister. The ending is drama filled as secrets come out & the final confrontation explodes into the payoff a story like this needs.

It took me a few chapters to really get into this book but once I did, oh my was a thoroughly rewarded! This is a highly addicting, page turning thriller you will struggle to put down!

My Husband’s Stalker by Natali Simmonds is a textbook example of domestic suspense that leans so heavily on genre clichés it feels like a "greatest hits" compilation of every thriller written in the last decade.
While the prose is easy to read and flows well, the plot is a minefield of predictable tropes: anonymous "don't trust him" notes, dead animals on the doorstep, and a protagonist, Freya, whose level of denial borders on the superhuman.
For seasoned readers of the genre, the "mystery" is transparent from the first chapter, turning what should be a tense experience into an unintentional workout for the eye muscles.
Freya’s frustratingly naive decisions make it difficult to connect with her journey or feel any genuine suspense. While this might be a "mind-blowing" entry point for someone new to psychological thrillers, veteran readers will likely find themselves shouting at the pages rather than gasping at the reveals. A clear, 2-star "I told you so" from start to finish.

This was a very dark tale about a young wife who is on the outside living a privilege life with her handsome husband who has a successful psychiatry practice and she works part-time at a hostel but appearances can be deceptive. She’s struggling to care for her dad who has dementia and feels guilt for the fact that he is in a home. Her sister is the other side of the world and they once close relationship is now fractured. The other issue in her life is a husband stalker an ex patient who is sending threatening letters and pushing the poor wife to breaking point as she insists the stalking is continuing. No one seems to believe her.. is she in danger and it’s that danger closer home than she thought. This will make a great TV drama and it’s one of those books you just can’t put down!
