Hidden Need can be read as a standalone book, or as an introduction to the series

Mario has to break free from the chains which he has tightly bound around him. Every year more links to his chain are added. Every year they become harder and harder to carry. He has hidden for too long, and the pain of living a lie has driven him to the lowest depths he can fall.

An alcoholic at twenty six, he has to get his life back and re-build the bridges he has burnt. He's pushed everyone away. He has no one left who cares about him. No reason for living, except maybe one thing, or one person.

The only thing that gives Mario hope is Luca, the object of his desires for the last five years. A former friend who he hurt badly. Getting sober and back into shape is all for the love of him. The only thing is, Luca isn't gay. Or is he?

Two men who both have dark pasts. Two men who want something they can't have. Two men who need each other so powerfully it tears them in two.

Welcome to the home of bittersweet M/M romances which will leave you craving more.

Nicole grew bored being a supermodel genius who worked part time for NASA, and decided to take a break from helping solve the mysteries of the universe with Stephen Hawkins to write m/m romance.

She has a loving relationship with her hubby of twenty years, and has achieved a lot in her short life considering she's only eighteen. She has fourteen dogs of all different breeds, plus twenty cats, and when she's not tending to their every need, and solving complex math problems, she loves to sew and can be often found knitting in the garden, which she maintains all by herself with her magical green fingers.

Finding time to make all of her own clothing and master the kitchen better than Gordon Ramsey, she's also a vegan domestic goddess and can often be found cooking up a storm bare foot in her kitchen.

Okay, so that's not true, especially the cooking part, though I do tend to be bare foot and I swear like Gordon does while burning my latest creation -- and I still think NASA will be getting in touch. Any day now!! *crosses fingers* I could sooo do that job because I'm so obviously awesome, but until they do...

I'm a full time author of M/M Romance and Erotica, and somehow I have several bestselling books under my belt. I've been writing for four years, and I self publish all my work under Hidden Pleasures Publishing along with my amazing team of helpers in the form my cover designer Kellie Dennis, editor Jessica McKenna, and all of my beta readers and PA's.

I'm a wife to my beloved hubby and mother to two young girls, and I do in fact have two cats who I adore, but no dog, as the hubby put his foot down. I live in Leeds in the North of England and I love it, despite the terrible weather.

My men are all seeking what everyone is, true love mixed with passion and their own happy-ever-after full of laughter and tears.

If anyone was to ask me which new author made the biggest impression on me in 2014 I would have to answer Nicole Colville. Right at the end of the year I started The Hidden Series and I have been absolutely blown away! This woman writes long books with really messed up characters that grab you and won’t put you down. Just when you think you have worked out where she is taking the story she twists it all around and takes you off in another direction. She made me fall in love with Jamie and Scott so damn much that when I realised book 10 in the series wasn’t about them I was crushed and a little scared.

This is Luca and Mario’s story. We have met both of these characters before but never really got to know much about them. Luca is Val’s best friend and has stood by him through thick and thin travelling the world with him to help keep him safe and sane. Mario was part of the group of friends that Val trusted but when he found out Val was gay and seeing Jamie all hell broke loose and he said some things that were pretty hard to forgive and forget.

What we didn’t know about Mario was the sheer terror he lived in daily as a child and as a young man under his father and step brothers’ constant gaze. They weren’t just homophobic; they were evil and extremely dangerous. When his father dies Mario should finally be free but he spends his life at the bottom of the bottle and has lost everyone that ever cared for him. When Luca literally picks him up off the street after his father’s funeral it is the first time the men have been near each other in a long time and the look Luca gives him is the wakeup call he needs and the first step to sobriety.

Starting a new friendship is hard. Mending an old friendship is harder. Mending an old friendship when you are secretly in love with the other person seems an impossible task but Mario will settle for any part of Luca he can get. As the self hatred ingrained into him slowly recedes Mario’s life mission becomes Luca. He is the only person Mario cares about but he has a lot of bridges to build and none of them are easy. He’s not even sure if his old friend likes other men but if he does then Mario wants to be the only one he ever loves.

There are some unsavoury characters in this story and none more so than Mario’s step brother who causes a near deadly setback in Mario and Luca’s plans. There is also someone who comes back from Luca’s past that may stump their plans but Mario is determined to fight for what he wants and he no longer cares who knows he loves another man.

There isn’t as much angst in this story as there was in Jamie and Scott’s but I was unable to stop turning pages just the same. You could read this out of order by my recommendation would be to start at the beginning and meet all the characters, it really is worth it and it’s a fantastic story all the way through. I must just add I am still Team Shark 

Hidden Need
Where do I begin? Well firstly I'm in love with this Book.
This is Book 10 in The Hidden Series but can be read as a Standalone, or read as the beginning of this amazing series.
Ok!! This is the story of Mario and Luca, who we've heard briefly about in previous books. This story concentrates on the struggles that these two go thru to get to where things are meant to be.
In the opening we get to witness Mario at his worst, he's hit rock bottom in his life. After attending his fathers funeral he is practically passed out drunk when all of a sudden: Strong arms are trying desperately to launch him to his feet, the smell and sound of the voice
Telling him " Let me Fu**king help, pr*ck." brings back memories of what was once a time where he had a life.
"Luca" is all Mario is able to get passed his lips.
Mario has lived his whole life in fear and denial from a very abusive life caused by his bigoted father and stepbrother. In the past Mario and Luca were very close friends and hung in a circle with Valerio and Raphael, that is until Valerio came out about his sexuality which lead Mario to do and say very hateful things which caused the demise of their friendship. No one knew the real reason for Mario's sudden hate, but from that day when Mario was at his breaking point and Luca showed up to offer his help things began to change forever.
Im not going to go into it anymore, because here is where you will experience so many emotions and this story will have you glued until the last page. Things aren't easy, but with dedication and love it is so worth the struggles, and yes I'll admit there are times when you will hold your breath. Just when things seem to be falling into place someone from the past with a shocking surprise threatens to come between these two. Nicole writes so brilliantly I can't say enough how much I enjoy and look forward to her next book. We also get to visit with previous characters in this book, and might I say, makes the most impactful entrance and steals the show in his usual way, which by the way made me love this story and author so much more.
Some Quotes in this story just made such an impact on me.
"Don't waste your time with me, Luca. I don't even waste time thinking about me."
"I miss you, Mario."
His soft voice is tinged with sadness.
I'm not free. I laugh to myself. I'm too tightly encased in my pain chains to ever break.
Mario is like my lighthouse.
Ok enough of me rambling cause I can go on and on so do yourselves a favor and go "One Click" this gem.

This is a fantastic way to introduce a couple of previously minor characters who we have heard of, but now they get their moment to shine.

Mario is a character you can really feel for, you want to take him and wrap him up and protect him from all the bad things that you have happened in his life, and there are so many. From his homophobic and abusive father and brother, to his battling his own demons and fighting his alcohol addiction, there is a constant in his life, a beacon of light he clings to, his friend and the man he loves, Luca.

Luca is super sweet and carefree, but he has to come to terms with the fact that he is attracted to a man having not really given it any serious thought.

The characters fight for the love they want, and for each other despite everything that goes on around them, and the fact that some of their friends disapprove they are still willing to fight for what they want, each other.

There are some low points for these two, but would we like it if things were straightforward and simple? Hell no! We also get to see some of the key points from the other books in the series but from Mario and Luca's point of view which is refreshing.

Ms Colville always manages to weave a world where you get drawn in and want to know more and more about the characters. I personally love this two and would love to hear more about them in the future.

Wow. I loved Mario & Luca's story. I really loved the way it was written. You could feel the emotions between these men & you feel the pull they have towards each other. I'm pretty sure, as per usual, that Nicole Colville broke my heart more than once in this book but she always manages to put it back together just right. And, of course there were a few WTF!! moments. These guys had a few obstacles in their way but watching them navigate them was beautiful. Seeing the rest of the guys has made me realise I need to do a complete series re read.
