Synergism

Rate this book
Aidan has always felt different.
Streetlights go out when he walks beneath them. Strange things happen around him, and no one, least of all Aidan, knows why. Whatever it is, it doesn’t make sense. But with Yijun, everything feels steadier and safer. Yijun is his constant, his best friend, the one person who makes the world feel right.
Yet their connection is more than friendship. Unspoken and undeniable, it holds the power to change everything. Together with their close-knit group of friends, Aidan and Yijun must navigate a fragile path between hope and despair, love and loss, in a world where the ordinary quietly slips into the extraordinary.
A tender, slow-burning story of connection, found family, impossible choices, and the discovery of what it means to love.

The premise of this book really intrigued me because I love a good science fiction/fantasy type romance. Streetlights go out when Aiden walks beneath them. Ohhh, tell me more!

Aiden had always felt different but his one constant in his life was Yujin. They met in school and quickly became inseparable. It didn't take me long to fall in love with Aiden and Yujin. They have a friendship that is enviable and a natural chemistry. When Aiden turns eighteen he learns about why he is different (I don't want to spoil anything!) and he makes a heartbreaking choice that shatters his and Yujin's friendship. When they encounter each other again it's a fragile and hard fought reunion.

Along their journey of discovering more about Aiden's "curse" and mending their relationship I love that they had a great group of friends that surrounded them. I also loved Jason and Kenneth!

While reading Synergism I fell in love, had my heart broken, mourned with Aiden and Yujin, and fell back in love even harder then the first time.
