Ghosts Of Wrath

Rate this book
Some truths don’t set you free.

Ada Thorne’s nightmares are getting worse, flashes of a life she doesn’t remember, a history she can’t seem to escape. Anya Mikhailov, the girl who's haunting her dreams and Nikolai Ivanov, the shadow hunting her every step.

The question is why.

The board is murky, the pieces obscured.
And if the world thought Ada was up for grabs—they’re mistaken.

Killian Thorne was already methodical, controlled, and unhinged. He’s unraveling the tapestry, dragging monsters into the light, and he doesn’t care what burns or who bleeds because his peace was threatened. Nothing will take Ada from him. Not the secrets unearthed or the sins that bind her to the ghosts she was never meant to meet.

But he will have to decide how far his obsession pushes her—the weight of the risk is heavy—her life for her sanity.

Because the truth is its own kind of monster, and some answers were never meant to be uncovered. The revelations about who she is, where she comes from, and the blood feud that built her life on a lie, don’t just shatter the past, they threaten to collapse the present and force the future she thought she had to the edge of the precipice.

Time is running out. Enemies are moving.
And when the storm breaks, what will survive the wreckage?

A History Written in Blood and Betrayal.
Fuelled by rage. Ending in wrath.

Tamar Shaw is an Art History major who writes dangerous love stories for readers who fall for villains—not despite the darkness, but because of it.
Her characters are morally black, bound by code, chaos, and obsession masquerading as love. She likes writing real women—and the only kind of men who can keep up with them.
Her stories are plot-heavy, twist-laced, high-stakes, and emotionally explosive—because she writes with a simple question in mind: What fresh havoc should my characters suffer today?
When she’s not orchestrating murderbonding, romantic terrorism, or writing soft, savage, broken, brutal women and morally bankrupt antiheroes with god complexes, she’s playing Xbox, watching anime, reading manhwa, or hanging out with her husband and two dogs—the only creatures she hasn’t traumatised (yet), and who remain deeply suspicious of her Google history.
She believes “happily ever after” should come with scars, at least three bodies, and a few unmarked graves.

Ghosts of Wrath hit me in a way I didn’t fully expect. It’s darker, heavier, and far more emotionally demanding than Architect Ruin, and there were moments where I had to pause just to process what I was feeling.

What stood out most to me was the balance between brutality and tenderness. The quiet moments of connection hit just as hard as the darker scenes. Ada and Killian’s relationship feels raw and earned, built on trust, loyalty, and choice rather than big romantic gestures. The found family added so much heart to the story, especially the two sock-stealing dogs, who brought much-needed warmth and levity. 😄

Nothing in this story feels wasted. The darkness serves a purpose, the intimacy feels earned, and every choice leaves a mark. It’s not an easy read, but it’s deeply immersive and impactful.

ARC Review:

Some books don’t end, they haunt.

Ghosts of Wrath is heavy in the chest, sharp with pain, and soaked in darkness that leaves its mark. There is carnage on the page, consequences in every choice, and an emotional weight that presses down long after you’ve turned the final page. Nothing here is gentle, and that’s exactly what makes it so powerful.

This story lives in the aftermath of violence and devotion, where love is felt more than spoken and survival always comes at a cost. It’s the kind of book that leaves you staring at the cover, breathing through the impact, and already missing the damage it did.

By the end, I was left with a full-blown book hangover. Ghosts of Wrath doesn’t just linger, it burrows under your skin and refuses to let go. Dark, emotional, and unforgettable. 🖤📚

Genuinely an absolute MASTERPIECE. I can't take credit, I was talking to another reader about it and they said the word first, and they were just so correct. This is if a thriller and a dark romance had a child. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. I laughed, I cried, I smiled, I was angry. Like I went through all five stages of grief. This entire world is just absolutely incredible. It'll be hard for a book this year to top what I just read.

I am so excited for Zorath and Roman's book late this year!!

ARC & Street Team review:

As always please check your trigger warnings ⚠️

I honestly thought I was ready for Ghosts of Wrath, but, apparently, I wasn't. It’s way darker and heavier than Architect of Ruin—to the point where I had to put the book down a few times just to stare at a wall and process my life choices. (Few other books have done this to me, and I am not mad about it.)

It’s definitely not an easy read, but damn it’s worth it. What really got me was how it balances the absolute brutality with these unexpectedly tender moments. Ada and Killian don’t do the whole "grand romantic gestures" thing; instead, their relationship is built on this raw, hard-earned trust that feels so much more real. And honestly, the found family (especially those two sock-stealing dogs) was the only thing keeping me alive. I needed that levity like air. Besides, who doesn’t love dogs and what they add to a story?

Nothing in this story feels like filler. Every choice has a consequence, and the darkness serves a purpose rather than just being edgy for the sake of it. Now excuse me while I nurse this book hangover. It’s the kind of book that doesn’t just end—it burrows under your skin and refuses to leave. If you need me, I’ll be over here breathing into a paper bag and begging for more. (Guess I’m a masochi$t LOL.)

Absolutely amazing book. This grabbed me from the beginning and held on to new until the end. It was dark and deep. The twists and turns had me trying to peek around the corners. This story kept me completely enthralled. I didn’t want to out it down. It was intense and spicy. Chaotic and enticing. This book sits heavy in your soul. I can’t wait for the next book.

I don’t even know where to begin with this review… this book was pure emotional damage. I will be recovering from this read for a while! Ava and Killian forever will remain in my heart as some of the most dynamic, beautifully flawed characters I have ever read!!! A beautifully written masterpiece!!

To be completely transparent with my review, I was approached by Bones & Belladonna on my bookstagram account about reading this series and giving an honest review. After they sent me the information and a brief book synopsis, I said sure, it sounded like something that would be just right for me!! And boy was I glad that I was given the opportunity to read books 1 & 2! Forever one of the best decisions I ever made!!

It’s not often that I’ve read something that is all consuming and gets such a powerful reaction from me! This book had me on the edge of my seat not knowing where the mystery was going! The twists & turns, the danger, and the passion was captivating! Tamar Shaw was able to bring you in with a strong plot and even stronger characters in book 1, with book 2 picking up right where you left off!! The mystery of Ava’s life and her beginnings really draw you in, hold you in suspense and keep you guessing until the very end, this book never let up, it was just as intense and dangerous as book 1!! I never saw the plot twist at the end coming, it was a slap in the face and had me screaming “no way!” I don’t want to give any spoilers away but I will say the loss that the characters went through was so emotional to read, because you get so attached to the secondary characters too! It really will break your heart!

I can’t wait for the next book to come out! I hope to see more Ava & Killian, as well as the rest of the team!! I hope that Mont & Amos get the chance to have their own stories told too!!! Everyone needs Mont and Amos’ stories!!!

Book 1 & 2 are MOST definitely a must read for anyone who loves a strong plot and a strong, intense MMC that doesn’t threaten to burn the world to the ground, but promises he will!!

I don’t know if I really can put into words how I’m feeling after this book!

I thought Architect of Ruin was haunting - this book!? This book will follow you to your dreams. It’s one you sit with for a few minutes when it’s over and digest, you breathe and run through everything that just happened.

Ghosts of Wrath is darker and unexpected. It takes you further into the darkness but also has some light. Everything had a reason and things hit at just the right times.

There’s even more character building. Ada and Killian hit just as hard and it’s hard not to be immersed in the story, waiting for what’s coming next. The found family aspect - absolutely love. The dogs - much needed!

I’m going to need physical copies of this series asap! This one’s going to live rent free for a while and I highly recommend the series especially if you’re in to thriller/dark romance vibes. Thank you again Tamar for the early read! I cannot wait for the next installment. All opinions are my own.

ARC READ 📚

Ghosts of Wrath is dark, angry, and emotionally feral in the best possible way. The vibes are heavy from page one - grief, rage, unresolved trauma all just vibing together and daring you to look away. Spoiler: you won’t.

The characters are messy. Like, deeply messy. They make questionable choices, carry too much pain, and absolutely do not believe in healthy coping mechanisms - which made them ridiculously compelling. I was frustrated, heartbroken, and fully locked in.

The writing is a slow burn that KNOWS it’s a slow burn. No cheap jump scares, no pointless filler - just tension tightening chapter by chapter until everything finally snaps. And when it does? Yeah. I sat there staring at the wall for a minute.

If you like your books dark, emotional, morally grey, and a little bit unhinged (affectionate), this one will ruin your mood and you’ll thank it for the privilege.

Read it. Suffer. Enjoy.

You know sometimes second books don't quite hit like the first one? Well, this is NOT the case for Ghosts of Wrath! This book left me SPEECHLESS 😶.
It is dark, intelligent, and dangerously addictive. Every page is layered with secrets, power plays, and our favorite mastermind who is always three steps ahead. The tension never lets up, and the romance is the kind that’s sharp-edged, obsessive, and unapologetically intense.
The character development throughout is top tier and I enjoyed learning more of the dynamic of the team and made me love them even more. I laughed, I cried, I down right GASPED! All the feels and I wouldn't change a thing!
This isn’t just a romance. It’s a chess match soaked in blood, loyalty, and love that burns just as dangerously as the enemies circling them. Can't wait to see what the 3rd book has in store for us 😍

As always please check your trigger warnings ⚠️

Phenomenal from start to finish. The story quite literally does have everything. I absolutely loved the further insight and attention put on Killian’s team. It helped understand the dynamics, the respect and the dedication they all have. This series genuinely has the most amazing side characters.
Ada really came into herself in this book without loosing everything that makes her well her! I loved that she wasn’t overlooked and she showed the obsession goes both ways and she will do anything for her man.
The tension, stress and anxiety I felt while I read this was insane but then its saved with sweet giggles and swooning moments over the love between Ada and Killian. The story was so well rounded.

The plot was gripping, engaging and kept me guessing because you genuinely never know what Killian actually knows. So I was on the edge of my seat for the last 25% of this book. Genuinely.

ALSO no man is as obsessed with his woman as Killian Thorne and I will not be accepting any criticism of that statement.

I was give an ARC of this book to leave an honest review. And honestly, Killian is it for me!!! The obsessive MMC that all us Dark Romance readers swoon over is Killian. The whole premise that he couldn’t love.. or feel is insane. What Killian feels for Ada is everything. Ada is Killians humanity. This is a dark romance so read the trigger warnings, and it is spicy!! 🌶️ Book 2 ties up the questions left in book 1. No major cliffhanger. Book 3 is going to focus around 2 other side characters. Need to purchase a physical copy of this book!!

Ghosts of Wrath by Tamar Shaw is a dark romance with added elements of crime. Following on from Architect of Ruin, we follow Killian and Ada on this fast paced and gripping journey as they try to uncover the mystery of Ada’s past. This book grabs you and doesn’t let go until the end, the tension had me SHOOK! I really loved getting to know the characters more and seeing their relationships develop. This story was also very interesting and I enjoyed the British/Bratvia gang scenarios, I really enjoyed the genius mastermind element of this story too, it was seriously cool. I would highly recommend this book, it totally destroyed me but the end saved me! Please check the triggers before reading as there are some elements of violence.

"Architect of Ruin" is not a sequel that plays it safe, it’s a deliberate escalation. Darker, wider, and more politically dangerous, it expands the world without ever loosening its grip on the emotional core that made "Architect of Ruin" unforgettable. This story doesn’t ask whether obsession is healthy, it asks whether it’s necessary - and it absolutely is!

At the heart of the book, Ada and Killian remain inevitability incarnate. Their bond is not softened, diluted, or reframed into something more palatable; it is reinforced through separation, violence, restraint, and reunion. Ada’s trauma is handled with care and consequence, never used as spectacle or reset for drama. She is fragile where it makes sense, strong where it matters, and always emotionally central. Killian, meanwhile, is exactly who "Architect of Ruin" promised he would be: feral, controlled, devastatingly intelligent. His protectiveness is not questioned or corrected; it is validated. He does not rage blindly; he calculates, dismantles, and eliminates. His love is not loud - it is lethal.

Ghosts of Wrath’s strongest achievements is its structural confidence. The introduction of Zorah widens the narrative without destabilising the romance. She is not a rival, not a replacement, not a threat to Ada’s position in the story. She is a parallel (a what-could-have-been) and her presence adds tragedy, scale, and moral weight without stealing focus. The twin reveal is handled with restraint and intelligence, seeded subtly through discomfort, duplication, and instinct long before it is confirmed. When it lands, it doesn’t shock so much as click. It reframes the story rather than hijacking it.

The plot itself is tight, deliberate, and unapologetically brutal. Violence has purpose. Consequences stick. Power structures are exposed and dismantled rather than sensationalised. Killian’s mythos grows not through bravado, but through absence - through the fear his name inspires, the systems that crumble when he looks too closely, and the quiet certainty with which he chooses Ada every single time.

The spice is selective, explicit when it appears, and deeply character-driven. These scenes are not there to entertain casually; they serve intimacy, control, and emotional release. When the characters touch, it matters - because safety has been earned, not assumed.

What ultimately makes this book work is trust. Trust in the reader to handle darkness. Trust in the characters to remain consistent. Trust in the romance to carry weight without constant reassurance. Ghosts of Wrath doesn’t exist to outshine Architect of Ruin - it exists to prove it wasn’t a fluke.

This is a sequel that understands escalation, honours its emotional contract, and refuses to apologise for its ferocity.

Dark romance at its sharpest.

To Tamar Shaw: thank you so much for trusting me with the ARC and for letting me experience this story early. It was a privilege to sit with these characters, feel the weight of their choices, and watch this world burn exactly the way it needed to.

I read Architect of Ruin (Book 1) and I loved it.

Killian Thorne was everything a MMC should be and more.
Gorgeous? Check.
Dominant? Check.
Obsessed with his wife?
A bad, bad boy? Double check.

And then there’s Ada Thorne.

Soft, but not weak.
A stunner, but not vain.
Haunted by her past, but not ruled by it.

In other words, the book was perfect in every way.

BUT…

Impossible as it may seem, Ghosts of Wrath is even better!

I kid you not.

This book had me sitting on the edge of my seat, biting my nails and screaming at my phone.

Killian Thorne is even hotter (don’t even ask me how this is possible).
He skillfully unravels decades of secrets and finally we find out about Ada’s past and why she’s being hunted.

Ada herself matures throughout the book and goes from being the fragile woman she thought she was to finally accepting her power and becoming the woman who stands next to Killian as his other half. Not broken. Not needing to be held together, but equal.

And that’s one of the things I loved the most about this story.

Both Killian and Ada evolved.

Yes, Killian will still burn the world for her, but this time, she will burn the world for him too.

Ghost of Wrath is intense. It delivers heat and then some.

It’s the kind of book that pulls you in and keeps you hostage right to the very last page.

And I’m so glad it did.

If you want the ride of your life, then I highly recommend you read Ghosts of Wrath – just make sure that you’ve read Architect of Ruin first.

Trust me… you won’t regret it.

Five big, beautiful, red as roses stars for Tamar Shaw and Ghosts of Wrath from me.

I received an advance reader copy and I'm leaving a review out of my own free will.

Ghosts of Wrath (Shadow Gods Series Book 2) - Tamar Shaw

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
🔥🔥

"A purpose cannot be a liability. Messing with someone's purpose get you consequences. And we are the consequence for someone messing with Kill's purpose." - Amos

I enjoyed this book, it tied up all the loose ends from book one.

I knew Ada's background was going to be hard to swallow, but the twists and turns I wasn't expecting!

Kill's Love for her (or not love in his words!) was everything all the way through. His rock but also his biggest weakness.

Only thing I struggled with was the long chapters, but that's a me issue! I felt some parts just dragged a little where it wasn't needed.
But overall I would recommend this series to any of my book friends and can't wait to see what comes in book 3 of the series. (This book doesn't end on a cliffhanger- Book 3 is about different characters from book 2)

This book does have trigger warnings so please read before hand, your mental health matters and what I like you may not. 🩶

“I will get down on my knees for you if you simply say the word, My Love. Sex is not the pretext for me worshipping my altar.” -Killian, Ghosts of Wrath

Easily a top 5 must read for 2026. Killian is back along with Ada and the gang as they continue to unravel Ada’s mysterious past that is quickly catching up to her and leaving death in its wake. This book had my emotions all over the place. Once I started I could not put it down. I think Killian may have finally realized what he feels for Ada is what others would easily call love vein if he doesn’t come right out and admit it. The self sacrifice, nothing matters but her etc all comes down to one emotion, love. By the end Killian and Ada finally have the answers they were searching for. There has been loss, love, found family and revenge in this duet. Action, spice, adventure, never a dull moment. Can’t wait to add them to my bookshelf.

📚Book Review 📚
This book was so good, it has to be a god tier book for me. I love Ada and Killian so much and they go through so much to finally get their happy ending.
In a few parts but in one part in particular my heart was literally breaking. I think you will know where I mean once you read the book.
I was so excited to start this book after reading Architect of Ruin and this book did not disappoint at all. There is so much depth, plot, action and I felt every emotion while reading this. I was happy, sad, amused, stressed and in pain throughout this book. Never a dull moment. This book was such a roller coaster in the best way possible though.
I love Ada and Killian as individuals and as a couple and I think they deserve everything. I love the found family aspect of this and I love all the characters. I don't even think I could choose who I like more if I was forced too.
I need more books and I need more of Killian, Mont, Luc and Amos so bad. I'm so sad that I'm done for now. I want their books so much.
The twists in this book had me dropping my jaw to the floor. I did not see them coming at all.
I love Tamar Shaw's writing so much. She has such a way of sucking me in and I had such an amazing time.

I would absolutely 100% recommend this book to anyone who loves dark romance with a lot of plot.

I still stand by what I said about the first book—this series needs to be adapted for film or television.

The depth of the story, the echoes of the past, the richly developed characters, and the carefully unfolding sequence of events make this book feel flawlessly designed and executed. It’s truly a masterpiece.

We return to the incredible MMC as he continues his quest to free Ada from the burdens of her past—her nightmares, her unanswered questions, and the pain that still haunts her. His love and devotion are breathtaking, the kind we can only hope to find in a partner.

With the introduction of compelling new characters (and what characters they are!), this installment raises the bar even higher. I couldn’t recommend this book enough. Absolutely loved it!

What a rollercoaster ride that was ! Tamar has done it again with her second book Ghosts Of Wrath . This book is definitely heavier than the first Architect Ruin.

I had many moments where I said wtf to myself then started at a wall , moments where I giggled and kicked my feet . I loved the cute moments with Ada and Killian , but one character really stood out for me . MONT ! I need a Mont in my life ! Even an Amos ! The side family really came out and shinned this book and I loved every second of it !

Absolutely stellar book! I didn’t want it to end and have to leave Ada and Killian’s world. The character development was perfect throughout the story. This book seriously has it all- I laughed, I was shocked and I cried while reading this book. This story was the perfect way to end the story started in the first book. Absolutely loved having more Mont time too. Can’t wait to read the third book to learn more about Zorah and Roman.

This book is absolute god tier. Not just as a sequel, but as a story that understands its characters on a psychological level and refuses to soften them for comfort!

This isn’t a romance in the traditional sense. Killian doesn’t love the way other MMCs do, and the book never lies about that. What he feels for Ada is something far more chaotic and consuming: need, dependence, fixation. She isn’t his weakness or his redemption; she is the thing that allows him to function at all. She tells him she loves him. He replies, “I’m aware.” And somehow that honesty makes their dynamic even more powerful...

The expansion of Killian’s world is phenomenal. Learning how his team came together, what loyalty actually looks like in his orbit, and how power is built and maintained elevates the story into something cinematic. It honestly reads like a high-intensity hacker/assassin thriller layered with intimacy, control, and obsession, not just violence for shock value, but strategy, information warfare, and precision.

The pacing is masterful. Action, suspense, and emotional intensity are balanced with moments of perfectly timed dark humour that give you just enough room to breathe before the next hit lands. Tamar’s ability to weave comedy into such a heavy, high-stakes narrative is genuinely impressive.

Ada continues to be written with care and respect. Her sensitivity is never framed as a flaw. She is Killian’s grounding force, the calm to his storm, and the story never asks her to harden herself to survive him. He adapts around her instead.
“Breathe, baby. Deep one.” - That line alone captures everything about their dynamic.

Ghosts of Wrath isn’t about love conquering darkness. It’s about survival, control, obsession, and two people who only make sense when the other exists. It’s relentless, cinematic, and emotionally charged from start to finish.

And knowing there’s a third book coming?
Lord have mercy...
