One moment, I ruled with fire and fury. The next, I’m shackled, stripped of magic, and aching for answers I can’t remember.
Then she walks in.
The woman who captured me. Fierce. Stunning. Ice in her voice, fire in her eyes. She thinks I’m the threat, but it’s her I can’t stop wanting. She fights me at every turn—glaring, resisting, tempting. And gods help me, I want her.
Yet, the more she searches for the truth of her past, the more tangled she becomes in mine. Now, my enemies are hunting her, too.
And if I lose her, I’ll rain fire on this realm until there’s nothing left.

You get thrown into the plot with this story, honestly it was a bit jarring to start where it did.
I wanted more adventure and escapades and didn’t get enough of it in this story. The romance felt too “meh” and insta lovey. The writing kind of ebbs and flows, is a bit repetitive at times. The world/lore building was interesting but very surface level (maybe you need to read the accompanying series for more insight??).
Thank you anyways to NetGalley, the author, and Blue Box Press for a copy!
I went into this one with high hopes. Dragons is always an immediate yes. Fated matesal as well! And the role reversal where she’s the captor and he’s the captive fully intrigued me. Jeyra holding a Dragon King prisoner had so much potential, and I really liked that initial setup. It felt like a fun switch-up from the usual roles I read, and I can absolutely see why this premise would work really well for some readers. That said… it just didn’t click for me... 😬 About half of the novella takes place in the prison, with Jeyra and Varek interrogating each other, talking, circling the same information. The pacing started to feel really dragged out, especially for something this short, and the plot itself never quite became engaging enough to pull me fully in. I kept waiting for the moment where it would grab me, and it never really did.😔 This is still a solid, easy read. Very old-school romantasy vibes, short, straightforward, and approachable. I think readers who enjoy slower, dialogue-heavy setups and paranormal romance will probably have a better time with it than I did. I wanted to love this one so badly 😭 It just wasn’t the dragon book for me and that's OK! My final thoughts are that it's not a bad book at all... just not my vibe. But I genuinely think it could work for the right reader!
I just want to start off by saying I had no idea this was a novella when I requested it on netgalley. I avoid novellas simply because I need my stories to be fleshed out so I'm being open minded with my rating & review.
I really enjoyed the premise and the plot, but we are thrown into the thick of the story with no prior information which took me a while to wrap my head around. I did however find the details were hashed out and explained throughout the rest of the story so I worked it out as I went.
I liked the Captor x Captive element to the story, especially because it was the FMC who was the captor. She's captured a Dragon King so he can pay for the crimes of his kind against her own. Except instead of execution, she's forced to interrogate him to gather information about their kind. I enjoyed the time Jeyra & Varek spent together in the dungeon, slowly falling for each other.
The romance didn't quite work for me, but ONLY because it was a novella and no other reason. I can't say things seemed quick as a negative when that is quite literally the point of a novella 😅 somehow the author did however manage to squeeze elements of tension in there so I will absolutely give her props for that.
If you're looking for a short, snappy and sexy story then I think you will absolutely enjoy it.
Dragon Revealed is everything I want from a dragon romance—fierce, fiery, and packed with emotion.
Donna Grant delivers high-stakes danger wrapped in sizzling chemistry. From the start, there’s that unmistakable pull between the main characters—the kind that feels fated but still hard-earned. The tension simmers beautifully, layered with secrets, loyalty, and the constant threat of enemies lurking just out of sight.
The dragon mythology is one of my favorite parts. Grant creates a world where power feels ancient and primal, where shifting into dragon form isn’t just spectacle—it’s tied to identity, legacy, and love. The hero is protective without being overbearing, strong but emotionally scarred in ways that make him deeply compelling. And the heroine holds her own—resilient, intelligent, and unwilling to simply stand in the background of someone else’s legend.
The action scenes move fast, the romance burns hot, and the emotional beats land exactly where they should. If you’re a fan of paranormal romance with powerful immortals, fated mates energy, and dragons who would scorch the earth for the one they love, this one absolutely delivers.
Dragon Revealed, is the first novella in the Dragon Kings series by Donna Grant. When I’m in the mood to read a superb paranormal adventure full of action and seduction, I choose one of her novels. She is a high-quality writer that always keep my interest until the very end. She never disappoints me with her series. Can’t wait for book #2 Dragon Mine!
We follow Varek’s journey from Earth to a new world where he has lost his powers and the ability to shift into his true form. Forged for battle but destined for love, Varek, a Dragon King, finds himself imprisoned and stripped of magic in a parallel realm. Captured by Jeyra, a fierce woman searching for her past, they discover their fates are tied as enemies close in. As they navigate danger and desire, Varek is willing to risk everything to protect her. Will they escape? Will he be able to help Jeyra? Is love and trust in the air for those two?
I received an advanced reader copy from Blue Box Press and NetGalley.
This is a good dragon romance book that is quick. I’m pretty sure it’s part of a series. I received an eARC copy, so I have not read any of the other books in the series, but I would be open to it. It has some fun tropes in it that definitely tie in the following:
• enemies to lovers • dystopian societies • dragon shifters • Found Family • betrayal
As well as many other themes, if you enjoy a quick read fantasy that lets you dive into another world then this would be a good book to pick up. The world building is good, I wish there was a little bit more character development. That was the only thing that kept me from giving this five stars. But overall, it was a good fantasy and dragon shifter romance.
This was such an enjoyable story and I am hooked. There is so much to love of the lead female. She is very strong and independent. When she sets out for revenge she gets more than she bargained for. Who knew trying to do what she thought was right would cause such chaos and change? I loved every minute of this story and only wish it was a full length novel.
Unfortunately the pacing felt off to me and the romance was rushed without a lot of build up. The stakes also felt super low, which made the ending less exciting. Still a fun read and an interesting concept(:
I really liked the story, but it started off kind of slow. Took a bit to reel me in. Then when it did, it felt like the story went too fast. There could have been more to it and I wish there was.
