Brynna
I thought farming in space would be delightful, cultivating foods and flowers while staring out at the stars. But it's not nearly as profitable or safe an occupation as I thought it would be with so many warring alien species wanting to steal my tech or raid my facilities to replenish their crops. So I've decided to give up my dreams and just take the easy road by joining the Alien Bride Race in the upcoming heat, find a mate who will keep me safe, and settle down.

What I don't expect is to meet a shimmering Drathious with a dark past who needs my help, the very kind of life I'm trying to leave behind. I'm in the race to find a mate, not gain a new work contract. But the more time I spend with protective Jorusk, the more I see our chance meeting may have been written in the stars.

He's a sweet, sexy beast with an adrenaline-junkie streak a mile wide. I can't get enough of him and his fiery mating rituals. After things get hot and heavy between us and crops get damaged, I know I've got a serious problem if I'm going to save his kind from starving.

I didn't think things could get much worse until the intergalactic war finds its way to us, and Jorusk is taken hostage. There's no way I'll ever escape my old life. It's time I stop running away to happier things and face reality. I have to take matters into my own hands if I ever want to see Jorusk again.

Jorusk
I'm desperate to find a mate and soothe the Inferno that's getting too hot to contain. I just haven't had time to think about myself with the enemy Denarso stealing females from allies, Talhuskins attacking our colony, and the Novarks and Nebulous soldiers raiding cargo ships, stealing food and medicine my people desperately need. But a friend convinces me not to give up on what I need.

The moment I see Brynna at the Alien Bride Race, running with the fury of the wind, I know she's the one I want. Most females run from me in fear. Not her. I have one week of events to get to know her and find out what makes her so fearless.

Her healing remedies and gentle touch give me hope and promise a better future for my people. But my past comes back to haunt us, tearing me away from her.

Now, she's coming for me with a fury I didn't expect. I just hope we can break free of the empire and find a way to keep my kind safe before it's too late.

Many species, including mine, are on the edge of extinction because of the Nebulous Empire. It's time to turn the tables on them.

A steamy science fiction, friends-to-lovers romance with action, violence, and cursing.

Writing reviews for Sybur Phyre’s books, always has me fighting the urge to over-praise her sci-fi romance genius. But, c’mon, seriously, Sybur’s books are so original and actually interesting, with fascinating characters and incredibly creative locations and ships. Devil’s Dance is another example in her long list of awesome novels.

Brynna enters an alien bride race, hoping she will find someone to settle down finally. She's tired from the lack of companionship/loneliness. Jorusk joins the same race with the intention to spend more time with her to make her is, and also the fact that she has knowledge about medicinal plants. Feelings blossom, sparking into something more. Will they be successful through the battles and war and come together in the end?

Brynna is our Miss Independent and fiery FMC. She knows what she needs and goes for it. She's also incredibly intelligent and is a farmer, providing her helpful services on the war-torn planet. Hence, she's a selfless and empathetic character, too. Jorusk is the fiercely protective MMC. He is an excellent soldier in battle and creates fire out of nowhere! Their chemistry is passionate, and the spice between them is written really well.

The world is beautifully described, very immersive, and exciting. It doesn't drag or seem choppy, and each chapter transitions smoothly. My attention didn't waver, and I really enjoyed this book. Each character brings their own aura! You'll find them fascinating, complex, and layered. Some scenes are brutal and heart-wrenching with drama. Also, there's a feeling of strong comradery and understanding, especially in the face of surviving together as a family. And the ending is wonderfully wrapped up!

There's heartache and romance, action and adventure, war and violence, a fight to protect those whom you love and justice, death and violence, fated mates connection, and more. If you like everything so far, this is the one for you!

After losing her parents and siblings as well as witnessing the destruction of her family farm, Brynna left Earth with a stockpile of seedlings to bring to other worlds as decimated as her own, selling what she could to carve out a living while continuing to propagate and harvest for those in need. As a galactic trader, she also honed piloting skills to evade capture and help subdue oppressive forces who prey on those trying to eke out an existence in the face of famine caused by greed and waste. As a frequent collaborator with other groups working to achieve similar goals, Brynna is well regarded among the rebel forces throughout the universe. After an especially harrowing mission to assist a group of rebels nearly destroys her stock, almost disables her ship, and risks her life, she’s exhausted and offered respite and a chance to compete in the Alien Bride Race, which she easily accepts.

As a Drathis with extra spicy skills, Jorusk’s latest act of heroics has nearly every bit of his body broken in some fashion, alarming the allies fighting alongside him. As he’s convalescing he crosses paths again with Brynna, who sparks strong feelings in him which he’d rather deny. Their close proximity as he recovers (Brynna’s vast knowledge of medicinal plants is instrumental in Jorusk’s healing process) results in him also agreeing to participate in the Alien Bride Race.

As the pair progress through the competition, their bond solidifies. When a massive coordinated attack on allies intensifies, Brynna and Jorusk cut their respite short to rejoin the effort just as secrets long buried about Jorusk’s origin come to light, setting the stage for a thrilling showdown and the possibility of a brighter future.

This was an action packed installment in the Alien Bride Race series which still had plenty of steam and tons of heart. Sybur Phyre continues to keep readers enthralled and entertained by the ever expanding universe she’s created. I was fortunate to have been furnished an advance reader copy, and I’m pleased to share my honest review.

Devil's Dance

Since global RL has been slowly imploding, it's interesting reading any kind of sci fi or fantasy because they all seem to reflect RL so much. When I was young, I would shrug off most similarities - the action, adventure, violence, and dystopia were just fiction, stories, not true. But of course authors weren't so far away in their imaginations and the lines between fantasy and reality are not so thick.

The echoes of our real world drama and brutality are in every book I read.

“The Nebs are destroying my business just like the government did to our farm back on Earth. Commercialize or die. Be the biggest or be nothing.”

Ugg, capitalism and patriarchy are so corrosive.

“Osiris is a kind Drathious, like I used to be. Like we all used to be before survival turned us into animals.”

War and violence make all of us desperate and often vicious.

“If you let your pain turn you into a monster around even those who do not deserve it, then you cause them the pain you so desperately want to stop within yourself. Do not become someone else’s pain. Fight evil to protect love. Otherwise, the universe will fall into chaos, and the only thing anyone will know is that feeling you carry inside you now.”

Honestly, no matter how fictional the fiction is, it still is entirely informed by human reality and experience. “Do not become someone else's pain”. This is such a great thing to remember.

Last favorite - this description of guardian type people,

“Anchor-spirits exist in every species, though they rarely ever cross paths.”
“What the hell is that?”
“Who did you rely on as a child?”

Who helps regulate us? I like that the answer is not a god. We do this for each other.

Excellent!

Jorusk was supposed to get a mate three years ago but instead all he got was three more years of war. His soul is running on empty and his fire is getting out of control and he is wondering how much longer he can go on. Until he meets Brynna and finds out she is off the Bride Races. With his team’s blessing, he follows hoping for a chance with her.

Brynna is a space farmer serving a great need in a war-torn universe. She provides seeds and seedlings in an effort to keep the planets from starving. But she is tired of being alone so she enters the Bride Races in hopes of finding her soul mate.

These two are perfect together and it’s pretty much love a first sight. But the enemy infiltrates the Bride Games and threatens their budding relationship. Can these two figure out a way to survive and stay together? A great book with a surprise ending!!

Fire and Fury

Devil’s Dance was yummy and hot! Noting more ways than one because Jorusk can literally turn into a fire dragon. Well sort of. Anyway, Jorusk is sent by his team to the ABR when the human female he has secretly been crushing on enters as a contestant. Brynna is a human who planet hops delivering plants and seedlings to help the agriculture on those planets. She is fierce, highly intelligent it tired of being alone. There was so much happening in this book that I’m afraid to say too much because I don’t want to spoil it for others. Please read it, Sybur puts a lot of hard work into characters and worlds that draw you in and keep you riveted until the end. This book was so good, with a great engaging couple and side characters that felt like family. The ending was a shocker in a good way. I received an ARC but my review is voluntary.

Let's Dance!!
Violence, loss, heartache, Drathis fury! Love, passion, unity, allies, vindication, found family and found world.
One thought it could never be, the other searched for it and went "through the fire" to have it.
This story was explosive from beginning to end and I want to read the next one. Well written MC's as well as side characters that only added to it.
I thought that I would be lost because I hadn't read the one before this one but, it not only came with a list of characters but also a list of different worlds and their inhabitants features.
If you're still unsure, just read and you'll soon realize that it's the "good guys" against the "bad guys" and it flows smoothly.
This review is my opinion and is not AI generated.

Master sci-fi writer Sybur Phyre adds Devil's Dance to the Alien Bride's Race series. Jorusk isn't quite like the others in his group. He can turn into molten flame when angry which serves him well when he takes on his enemies. He falls for space farmer Brynna who is an independent kick ass gal on her own. He follows her to the Bride's Race intent on making her his. War threatens so most contestants head for space for a full on mash up with invaders where Brynna and Jorusk's sex capades turn her into a lava being, too, complete with a surprise egg to be hatched! Sybur Phyre creates wonderful characters, unique action, and spicy love scenes!

This was an enjoyable steamy romantic story that's about Brynna who's fed up growing foods and flowers out in space with all the dangers that befell her business, so she signs up with the Alien Bride Race to start over and feel safe only to be chosen by Jorusk for the same purpose as he captures her in the race. Jorusk is looking for help for his people and a mate to soothe the Inferno plaguing him. Brynna falls for Jorusk and their lives are threatened. What will Brynna do? I'd very much liked our characters and their chemistry sizzled in this engaging story with romance, drama and action that kept me entertained.

This is an amazing story: Jorusk feels he started the war again and his only duty is to defend his friends and his people, after Brynna’s family died, she escaped to space but now she has had enough of being alone.
When Jorusk realises Brynna has entered the Bride Race and another will get to catch her, he follows determined to be the one to catch her.
There is plenty of action, fights and some romance thrown in too. I absolutely loved this story: I was hooked from the very beginning and there was not a page I did not enjoy. I can easily recommend this book.
I voluntarily received and reviewed an ARC copy of the book.

I would dance with this devil too!

Jorusk is an enigma and you can't help but love him. He has such a heart for all his brothers in arms. He needs to go to the bride race and so does Brynna. I love how he doesn't feel worthy, but he's one of the most worthy. Brynna is a great character and I love her focus on helping everyone just like Jorusk does. This series is really well done and I also love how all the racers end up getting to know and care for each other too. Fieri and Cinuska is another cool coupling in this one. Fieri is a fun character and they keep it lively. The end is one of the best parts 😍

Brynna is tired of trying to cope with everything on her own, so she signs up for the alien bride race, hoping to find someone who makes her feel safe & can help her with her farming business. Jorusk has helped Brynna in the past & when he finds out that she has entered the bride race, he races to enter as well so that he can spend time with her, hoping that she will be his mate. Really good read🔥

Brynna runs seeds, plants on various growth stages and supplies to communities in need during the war. Jorusk is a Drath who has fire to use against his enemies. Both of them are sent to the Alien Bride Race but war is too close for them to finish. Enjoy🔥

A human woman and a male alien warrior!

A human woman has her own ship where she grows plants and sells them to various alien planets so that the people have food and medicine. She is able to show the people how to care for the plants and to grow more. She decides to stop her current job and join the alien bride race to find an alien mate. An alien male warrior is talked into finally going to the alien bride race that he was suppose to go to3 years ago, but didn't do to the war. You will have to read the book to find out what all happens to everyone. Happy reading!

I wasn't sure I would like the whole dragon hot as "Hell" or Lava thing but it turned into a good story. The characters stayed true to the books that came before and ended well...except the 🥚 🐣 really an egg?
