Some secrets refuse to stay buried, and some love stories refuse to die.
A wrecked ride ended Lane Tipton’s bull riding career and brought him back to Hillmore, Wyoming—a place he swore he’d never return.
Haunted by his father’s ghost, the mistakes of his youth, and Celine Koffman’s wounded eyes, Lane is forced to confront everything he left behind.
Celine never expected to see Lane again, but coming face-to-face with his broad shoulders and big, brown eyes does more than rebreak her heart. She’s already battling her persistent ex-husband and struggling to rebuild her life and now, Lane’s back—and a secret she’s kept from him is about to be her undoing.
A son they conceived when she’d fallen for the man fast, hard, and unapologetically—a man who’d already abandoned her once before.
When an intruder attempts to kill her, Lane becomes her only protector. Torn between a past he can’t undo and a future he never planned for, Lane’s determined to make things right. But as secrets unravel, they both face a deadly truth that could cost them everything.
Danielle M Haas is a stay-at-home mom turned author. When she isn’t writing fast-paced romantic suspense novels with mysteries to live for and romance to die for, she’s busy being a taxi driver to her two busy kids and forcing her introverted self to talk to other soccer moms. Her kids and husband are her world, which is also shared with her hyper Bernie doodle, two sassy cats, and one leopard gecko who’s happy to chill on a rock all day. Her days are packed with cuddles, kisses, and a brain constantly thinking of new ways to create danger and romance for her next book.
Fresh off the rodeo circuit, coming back to a place of bad memories and regrets, Lane Tipton returns to his hometown to face his past and try to start fresh after the death of his father. Little did he know he was in for a whirlwind of changes, surprises, and renewed hope for his future.
Working as a waitress at the town’s popular restaurant, the last person Celine Koffman expected to walk through the door was the man who broke her heart not once, but twice. She’s got enough on her plate dealing with her ex, ignoring gossip, working double shifts, and taking care of her baby boy.
When danger targets Celine, Lane steps up to protect her and her son and find the threat, which also leads him to a new business venture.
I really enjoyed this story. Lane and Celine both had a lot of past and present hurts to work through, and I liked the fact that nothing was brushed over or quickly resolved. They took time to work through their pain, strengthen broken bonds, and plan for a future. The spark of chemistry that always hummed around these two, the unexpected friendships forged, family support, sweet romance, suspense, and touch of mystery rounded this book out to a great start to the series.
It’s a fast-paced, emotional read that you’ll quickly devour. I’m excited to see where this series will go and I’m looking forward to Duke’s story.
Lane wasn't scared of the rodeo, but it seems he was running from a lot in his small town. Lane is at a pivotal crossroads in his life when decides it's time to do the hard things and prove that he's worthy of the only woman he's ever truly loved and the perfect son they created. Celine has been through some hard things but she's doing everything she can to provide for her baby. When Lane walks back into her life after breaking her heart not once but twice, she's got her guard up rightfully so. Celine thought seeing Lane was going to the be the hardest part of her night until an intruder surprises her. With Celine in danger Lane now has a new mission in life which just happens to lead to a new business venture. I enjoyed this book with the characters working through their angst, building new friendships, facing their past and surviving for a future!
This was book 1 in a new series and was a good start and introduction to some new characters
Second or maybe even 3rd chance romance for this couple. Celine certainly was a forgiving and caring person and gave Lane more of a chance than I would have done!
He did redeem himself though and seemed to have reflected and become determined to change to be the man he wanted to be. Elements of suspense and the gentle romance between Lane and Celine.
An enjoyable read and I look forward to reading more in the series.
Ideal for fans of gentle romantic suspense book with romance and minor elements of spice
This new series launches with simmering past tension and ever-present danger as Lane and Celine carefully dance around each other. Their chemistry sparkles just as intensely as the hurt they both carry, keeping you holding your breath as they toe the line between restraint and desire. When danger hits, it lands hard and fast, driving the urgency as they struggle to uncover its source. Unexpected friendships add a strong sense of camaraderie when things turn tough, and Parker is an absolute joy—bringing warmth and smiles when they’re needed most. With a new adventure on the horizon and a satisfying dose of romance, this story hooks you in from the start.
I have to admit, I thought Lane was a bit of an unlikable character at first. I am definitely not in favor of keeping the kind of secret Celine kept, but I totally get where she was coming from. Lane hadn't left her once, but twice. And I totally get why she'd believe he was only interested after learning the secret. So Lane had a lot of groveling to do, which I totally appreciated. There was a lot of mystery of who was terrorizing Celine and I loved the organic way it led to Lane's new career. Great HEA with this couple and their 3rd chance at romance. I also appreciate the great secondary characters and look forward to more from this new series.
