Years have passed, but some things never change when it comes to Whiskey Jane’s.
The regulars are quirky, the drinks are strong, and karaoke is still an off-key tradition.
Olive Rowe has everything she could ever dream of: the lively bar, the perfect man, and the picture-perfect home. So why does she feel like there’s still something missing?
Hunter Rowe has always tried to be the best husband possible, so when he notices that his wife hasn’t been herself, he plans to do everything in his power to bring the light back into her eyes again.
Step back into Olive and Hunter’s love story to see how their future unfolds.
I don't give out full five stars to just anyone. I binged the first two books before I got this one since Nicole Mikell says to read 1 and 2 since this one is 2.5 and has spoilers. I'm glad I did. I really enjoyed Olive and Hunters story I'm the first book (also 5 stars) and I was excited for this one as well.
As a mom, this one resonated with me. While I don't have the experience Olive does with her mom, just the idea of having kids is sometimes daunting, because it is hard work. Olives hesitance shows that.
I do love the other characters moments, in this novella as well.
I do wish there was more plot development on Leena and Parker and Eddie and Summer. They seem like important characters but there's not a lot on them, and yet she tried to go in deep in this novella. That part fell a bit flat for me.
Also, the spice seemed to heavy in this one compared to book 1. Book 2 was full of spice so I didn't know if she was just following that pattern but honestly I didn't mind the closed door romance in book 1 at all. I wish this one was more like that -- kept Olive and Hunter's story sweet.
I rated the following: Setting 5/5 Plot 5/5 Characters 4/5 Themes 5/5 Emotional impact 4/5 Enjoyment 5/5 Overall 5/5
I will be reading her future work. This series really stuck out to me. Location is fun, characters and jobs are different and fresh.

*Thank you to the author, Nicole Mikell for providing with E ARC, and thank you to Rattle The Stars PR for letting me be part of ARC Team! *
I loved everything about this novella. I have read all the books that Nicole Mikell has written, and I feel like I shouldn’t be surprised by now. Yet I am. Isn’t She Lovely is such a heartwarming story of Olive and Hunter, but it also deals with some heavy topics. It’s one of those stories that will make you think, but it will also make you smile at the bittersweet moments between Olive and Hunter. I loved Olive and Hunter in the firs book, Baby, It’s You , and I think I adore them even more in this book.
When I found out that Nicole was writing this novella, I knew that I had to check it out. I’m so glad that I did! Olive and Hunter, I think, are my favorite couple in the Clairsville series; just the way they are with each other, you can tell how much in love they are. What Olive had to face; it couldn’t have been easier, and I’m so glad that she had Hunter by her side. There was part of me that wished the story were a little longer, because I loved it so much. I’m still smiling while thinking about the story. Nicole has become one of my favorite authors since I started reading her books, and I can’t wait to see what she has in store for us next.
I love the “what happens after prologue” but Nicole Mikell did one better and gave us a heartwarming stunning novella. I Love being back at Whiskey jane and seeing old friends, this short book less than 100 pages was packed full of emotions.
You will definitely need to have read at least Baby its You, first before this one as it follows the main characters as they enter a new chapter in their lives.
There is laughter, love, tears and Olive does a lot of personal growth and as all Nicole’s book it is written extremely well.
Hunter and Olive has such a special relationship and its evident when they get to the whats next phase and Olive has to face some past trauma first and Hunter being the green flag that he is supports her every step of the way.
Love seeing Wes again and is still hoping for his book!
Only complaint, visit in Clairesville was too short!
Thank you Nicolle and Rattle the starts for the Arc ✨
Thank you Nicole Mikell and Rattle the Stars PR for this ARC, all thoughts are my own. Cute novella giving us insight into Olive and Hunter's journey towards starting a new family. Olive struggles thinking she won't be a fit mother due to how her birth mother was to her. We can see how Olive processes if she can be a mother since she didn't have a great example with her birth mother Laurie. Hunter is really supportive of her process, whatever she has to do in order for her to see she can be a great mother. "All I wanted to do was go up there and tell her that she doesn't need validation from someone that can't even get their own life together...This is her trauma, and my job as her partner is to support her through it."
"For the first time in my life, with those final words from her, Laurie showed me she's actually capable of caring about me."
Coming back to Clairesville always feels like coming home for me. I love Nicole’s writing and was so excited for this novella, and a glimpse into what Olive and Hunter have been getting into now. Highly suggest reading books 1 and 2 before jumping into this one.
Isn’t She Lovely is a quick read, but also full of depth and some more serious themes than the previous two books in the series. A few years have passed since Olive and Hunter met and fell in love. Life is going well, but something is missing for the couple. After close friends welcome a baby boy into their family, making the couple honorary Aunt and Uncle, it clicks for Hunter he’s ready to share this same experience with Olive. But is she ready? Or wanting to become a mother herself?
The discussions and feelings that follow, force Olive to really evaluate her feelings towards her own childhood and motherhood itself. As she struggles with her childhood trauma, she finds herself knocking on the door of these emotions - both emotionally and literally - before running. True to the amazing partner he is, Curls never pushes and is the embodiment of understanding and support. He holds Olive’s hand as she navigates her feelings and confronts her birth mother for answers.
The wounds inflicted by Laurie, Olive’s birth mother, and her neglect run deep. And Olive finds herself knocking at the door of opening up about her fears and own neglect. Terrified of becoming like her, Olive is afraid of taking this next step for herself and Hunter.
With Hunter by her side and supporting her in her pursuit of answers from Laurie, Olive opens the door of her past and looks for answers in the one person she feels can give them to her - Laurie.
I relate to Olive so much, and felt so deeply saddened seeing this strong and determined woman question herself because of what she’d been through. At the same time, I loved seeing Hunter remind her of who SHE is and what she is capable of. He is such an amazing man and partner. The emotions in this short novella are strong. Grab your tissues.
My only complaint, if it can even be considered such, is I would’ve liked a bit more of the couple as they navigated the after of Olive’s conversation with Laurie. Regardless, I fell in love with Olive and Hunter all over and enjoyed seeing them take the next steps in their relationship. The last pages had me crying like a baby - pun intended.
Looking forward to more in this series and suggest all three current reads to anyone who enjoys small town romance with lots of heart.
This novella is a perfect continuation of Book 1, Baby It’s You, following the journey of Olive and Hunter as they navigate life changes of their friends and the big decision to potentially expand their own family. In such a short novella, Nicole fleshes out the characters’ emotional, yet heartwarming journey. Olive has a troubled history with her mother caused by deep-rooted trauma and neglect; she struggles with the feelings of her own childhood and the idea of motherhood itself.
As always, Hunter is the greenest of green flags and I love him just as much (if not more) as in Baby It’s You. He’s so caring and understanding. I loved seeing my favorite couple and their journey together through Olive’s internal struggle to get answers and closure from her past to be able to move on with her future. The ending had me tearing up so hard. I could read a fully expanded novel of these characters. I loved them so much.
Content warning for readers: While Book 1 of this series is a closed-door romance, this novella is open-door and not a standalone. This novella also deals with some heavier topics of parentification of children and neglect (off-page) and the confrontation of a birth parent as an adult, so be mindful if these topics or a pregnancy HEA is a potential trigger.
Fav Quotes: “Things just feel messy.” I look away to hide the emotion tightening my throat. “How can I ever be a mom when I don’t even know what a mom is supposed to be?”
“Husband has always been my favorite title, but that will have to share the top spot with Father now.”
Tropes, Content Warnings, etc: -Part of the Clairesville series, not a standalone novella -Under 80 pages -Small town -Family planning -Found family -Black cat FMC x Golden retriever MMC -Explicit spice -Dual POV -HEA, pregnancy
Some stories stay with you long after the last page. Isn’t She Lovely is one of them.
This novella brings us back to Whiskey Jane’s and back to Olive and Hunter. It may be short, but do not let the page count fool you because this story carries so much heart.
Olive has built a beautiful life with Hunter. The bar is thriving, the love between them is steady, and everything looks perfect from the outside. Yet a quiet question lingers in her heart. After everything she endured growing up, especially the weight of parentification, Olive cannot help but wonder if she is truly meant to be a mother.
Watching her search for closure with her birth mother was heartbreaking and powerful at the same time. Knowing what Olive and Jane meant to each other in Baby, It’s You made that confrontation with Laurie feel even heavier. I was rooting so hard for Olive to finally find the peace she deserved.
And Hunter. Truly one of my favorite book husbands. The way he respects Olive’s boundaries, listens to her fears, and supports her every step of the way made my heart so full. Their love feels steady, patient, and deeply real.
Seeing Olive step into motherhood was incredibly emotional for me. I found myself relating to so many moments and I ugly cried more than once because those feelings hit so close to home. I bonded with Olive in a way I did not expect, especially through the lens of motherhood.
It was also wonderful to see familiar faces like Johnny, Rob, Missy, and Mrs. Sonjia rally around her with so much love and support. Whiskey Jane’s once again feels like a warm, chaotic, found family.
Thank you Nikole for giving us another beautiful piece of Olive and Hunter’s story. Their love, their growth, and their little family will stay in my heart for a long time.
Isn’t She Lovely is book two point five (#2.5) from the CLAIRESVILLE series but relates to the first book in the series ‘BABY IT’S YOU’
When their friends start expanding their families, Olive and Hunter Rowe have to decide whether that’s the right path for them too.
However Olive must face some unresolved issues from her ‘pre-Hunter’ past if she’s ever to move forward…..
————————————
This sweet novella continuing Olive and Hunters story is utterly delightful. The pair have grown into their relationship, are settled and happy. The only thing they haven’t decided on is children.
Olive’s unresolved issues from her past are written in a compassionate manner, and I loved how accepting and supportive Hunter was.
Though only 90 pages long, it is packed full with all the usual delicious things we have come to expect from this series. The deeper conversations are perfectly foiled by plenty of humorous moments, and the love and respect that Olive and Hunter have for each other shines through.
There is an final scene really pulled at my heart strings and is the perfect conclusion to this short story.
There is an open door spicy scene but it is in fitting with their relationship and tastefully done.
I read an ebook, with around 90 pages, a delightful colourful couple cover in fitting with previous books in the series and very good editing, I highly recommend this utterly sweet novella.
With thanks to Nicole Mikell for an early chance to read this delightful story. All comments are my own honest, unbiased opinion.
🍷 Small Town Romance 🍷 Found Family 🍷 Spicy 🔥🔥 🍷 Novella
Isn’t She Lovely by Nicole Mikell is a beautifully crafted novella that dropped me right into the heart of a love story I did not want to leave. Full disclosure: this is book 2.5 in the Clairsville series, and Nicole herself warns that it contains spoilers for the first two books. I came in without having read them, and honestly? All it did was make me desperate to go back and experience everything from the beginning.
Olive and Hunter are everything. Their relationship is the kind that reminds you what love is supposed to look like. Set against the backdrop of Whiskey Jane’s, where the regulars are quirky, the drinks are strong, and karaoke is gloriously off-key, this story takes you deeper into Olive and Hunter’s world as Hunter quietly, devotedly works to bring the light back into his wife’s eyes. The genuine, unwavering support they have for each other is the kind of dynamic that makes your heart feel full. It is tender, real, and deeply moving.
The found family and friend group surrounding them only added to my investment. I want an entire series dedicated to each and every one of them.
If you are already a Clairsville fan, this one is going to deliver everything you love. And if you have not started the series yet, let me be your sign. This novella will have you one-clicking from the very beginning.
Isn’t She Lovely, a novella in the Clairesville series, is a must read for anyone who has fallen for this small town and the characters that author Nicole Mikell created. As the third book written, we get to see all our favorite characters, but the main focus is on Hunter and Olive Rowe. I absolutely loved being able to get a second book on this couple, as they were the duo that started this series (if you haven’t read it yet, start with Baby, It’s You!). We come back to Whiskey Jane’s the local bar where Olive and Hunter’s love story began, but now get a glimpse inside the feeling that something is missing in their life. Hunter, a man who would be an amazing father, doesn’t see the despair in Olive’s demeaner, but knows something is off. Olive has reservations about parenthood, after having a less than stellar upbringing, so she is faced with the dilemma of whether she can see herself as a mother. Perhaps revisiting her past and confronting her demons will help her make the ultimate decision of whether parenthood is in their future.
I really loved the emotional and sensitive topics this book covered, done with finesse and appreciation for the heaviness that they carry. Overall, I think this book was very well written and am excited to see what comes next from one of my new favorite authors! Thank you to the author and her team for an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
Saying goodbye to Olive and Hunter was bittersweet, but their story truly wrapped up in such a heartfelt and satisfying way. After everything they’ve been through, seeing where they end up felt like the perfect conclusion to their journey. This installment definitely leans more into the emotional side compared to the earlier books, but it still keeps the playful banter and chemistry between the characters that made the series so fun to read in the first place. That balance between heartfelt moments and lightness worked really well. Hunter completely stole my heart all over again. If you loved him before, just wait. He’s the definition of a golden retriever MMC. Patient, gentle, supportive, and endlessly understanding. The way he cares for Olive without ever pressuring her, simply standing beside her and giving her the space she needs, made me adore him even more. Honestly, he’s peak book boyfriend material. Olive has always been fiercely independent, but this book really dives deeper into her personal struggles and the emotional walls she’s built because of her past. Getting that closer look into her life and seeing her confront those fears added so much depth to her character. She’s strong and determined, but it’s clear that old scars don’t disappear overnight. And that ending definitely pulled at my heartstrings. It was such a powerful moment for both of them, and watching everything finally come together made the entire journey feel so worth it.
The perfect continuation of “Baby, It’s You”! This book is more emotional than the first two, but it still had the fun loving banter between the characters that I love!
In the first book, you get to see how fiercely independent Olive is, and some of the struggles she has about opening up, emotionally, due to her family ties. I really loved the deep dive into her personal life in this book. She’s a force to be reckoned with, but sometimes, past scars can keep you from moving forward and pursing the life you’ve always wanted.
Hunter… Sweet, sweet Hunter! I fell in love with him in the first book, and this book only amplified that love for me!! He’s so gentle, thoughtful, understanding, and patient. A true ‘golden retriever’ mmc. He’s everything you would want in a man. The way he was able to comfort Olive, but also not pressure her into doing anything she didn’t want to do… I love… Literally the perfect spouse!
The ending had me tearing up! What a special moment of clarity for both characters! I’m sad I’ll be leaving Olive and Hunter behind, but so very happy for how far they’ve come! The perfect conclusion to their story!
This short story of less than 80 pages gives us a glance at the lives of Olive and Hunters a few years after their story began. We have some more of the regulars sense of humor, and Whiskey Jane's famous karaoke tradition. Olive finally has everything she never thought she would have. She has a caring husband, a picture-perfect home and a big chosen family, but .... she feel slike something is missing... On the other hand Hunter is the husband every woman would like to have. He is caring, protective, respectful of bounderies, and supportive. He would do anything for Olive, to help her feel complete.
I received a copy of this book from the author. All opinions are my own.
This was a perfect follow up to the love story of Olive and Hunter from book one. I love how their relationship evolved and how caring and supporting each is to the other. Olive definitely has too many childhood trauma, and I love how this glance to their story shows how she decided she wanted more for her marriage, and does anything on her power to overcome her past traumas. I adore her as FMC. It is a perfect strong character that decide to do more with her life than what she was given and to become someone strong and that don't let anything to determine her future other than herself.
YOU NEED TO READ THIS... This book is well written by Nicole mikell 5 star 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 rating Isn't she lovely By @nicolemikellauthor This is charlisvile series book 3 You may not agree with me and that's ok but how can you not this is beautiful written with only 101 pages within the book.
Oliva is facing her turmoil child hood from book 1. Hunter would love a baby but oliva unsure on how she can become a mother. With how her mother treated her at young age. Until she meets with her mother for closure but really never got it but she felt better after seeing her as she has people around her telling her how caring she is towards other people.
Hunter oh my gosh every one's dreamy husband whos so supportive of his wife and including his friends his slashing photographer/video photography he was coming back from wedding he was filming and his dream was to have baby olive rung with some news. They had a beautiful baby girl which will be loved by everyone in town.
@nicolemikellauthor talk about twist and turns in emotions i never felt so drawn to a book before as have now, with characters of Oliva and Hunter. Cant wait to read more.
Easy five stars! Isn’t She Lovely by Nichole Michele was cute, quick, and completely heartwarming. I loved how this continues Hunter and Olive’s story, it felt like slipping back into a world I already care about.
The middle of the book had me in my feelings. Watching Olive work through her trauma was such a powerful and beautifully written experience. There’s a particular moment where she speaks to her biological mother that absolutely wrecked me (in the best way!) It reminded me so much of my own trauma with my dad, and I found myself crying because what she chose to do mirrored something I’ve done in my own healing journey.
That kind of connection is rare. To see a character make a brave, emotionally mature choice and feel it resonate so personally. I felt seen through Olive in that moment. Tender, emotional, and healing in all the right ways. If you love heartfelt romance with depth and growth woven in, this one is absolutely worth the read. I highly recommend reading Baby, it’s you first.

Review: Isn't She Lovely brings Hunter and Olive back into the limelight, just as they were in book 1 of this series, Baby, It's You.
Hunter is as sweet and supportive as ever. He truly is a golden retriever MMC! His sunshine character brings so much warmth to the story and his commitment to Olive is beautiful.
Olive is going through a rough patch, revisiting and unpacking childhood trauma, and while this is a bit heavy, it's handled with sensitivity and care. Revisiting the past isn't easy for Olive, but it brings a level of self-reflection and growth she truly needed.
Wes is still Wes. IYKYK!
This was a fast read, just over 100 pages, and a nice continuation to the couple's story.
Note: This is not a stand alone! Book one and two of the Clairesville series need to be read prior to reading this novella.
I absolutely loved this novella. I’ve read all of Nicole Mikell’s books at this point so you’d think I’d know exactly what to expect, but somehow she still manages to surprise me. Isn’t She Lovely is such a warm, heartfelt story about Olive and Hunter, and while it’s full of those soft, sweet moments between them, it also touches on some heavier themes that give the story real depth. It’s the kind of read that makes you pause and think for a moment, but at the same time it leaves you smiling at the bittersweet, tender parts of their relationship. I already loved Olive and Hunter when we first met them in Baby, It’s You, but after reading this novella I think I adore them even more. Their connection just feels genuine and easy to get attached to, and it was really nice getting to spend more time with them and see their story continue.
Isn’t She Lovely by Nicole Mikell is a delightful little gem that swept me off my feet! This is technically book 2.5 in the Clairsville series, so watch out for spoilers if you haven’t read the first two. But trust me, it’s worth the ride!
Olive and Hunter are back, and their love story is just as heartwarming and real as ever, tackling some serious stuff while keeping the smiles coming. I adored them in Baby, It’s You, and now I’m even more smitten! Their journey through life’s ups and downs is just so relatable. Plus, the backdrop of Whiskey Jane’s; complete with quirky regulars and off key karaoke, adds a ridiculous amount of charm. Seriously, I want more stories about their fabulous friend group!
If you’re already on the Clairsville train, this novella will hit all the sweet spots. And if you haven’t jumped in yet, now’s the perfect time!
I love the Clairesville series and was so excited to be back and catch up with Olive and Hunter to see what they have been up to.
It’s definitely recommended that you read Baby, It’s You and You Can’t Hurry Love first otherwise you will get a lot of spoilers and won’t get the backstory of the characters.
This is a lovey short novella that you can read in an hour. It’s a quick, fast paced catch up with Olive, Hunter and the gang.
I loved seeing what happens after the happy endings and how the couples are getting on, so this was a fun read. It has healing, closure and new beginnings.
My only grumble is that it’s so short. I wanted more as I love Nicole’s writing and these characters and I want to spend more time with them.
Overall, I rate this 4⭐️. I really hope there will be more books in this series.
I really, really enjoy Nicole's books. I have read all the books in the Clairesville series and let me tell you, they are so fun!
I was so excited to be back with Olive and Hunter! Their store is heart warming, made me smile, but it also made me feel. There are some tougher topics in the book but Nicole handles that with care they deserve. This just made me love Olive and Hunter even more.
If you are looking for a fun little read that will make you laugh, smile, but also feel something, this is a read for you!!
Be sure to follow @nicolemikellauthor and @rattlethestarspr for updates on upcoming releases and important announcements!

Isn’t She Lovely was such a cute story. This book made me feel ALL the feels. I laughed, I was smiling ear to ear and of course got teary eyed a few times. It was such a great addition to Olive and Hunter’s story. I think as someone who also struggled with a strained parental relationship it’s very relatable. I do love that Olive gets her closure, even if it’s not the closure she was expecting. I love the name of their baby girl. 😭 and I love that Olive has an amazing found family. OH! And the bay top hat?! Stooooop!! Absolutely love the way Nicole writes. All of her books have been amazing. Perfect romcom books. So good I read them in a ridiculously short amount of time.

This is actually my first time reading a novella that shows more about a couple…. I didn’t know what to expect because if it was their love story I know they would meet and the rest would fall into place and I love it ☺️Donovan and ivy are so cute ☺️—Wes is something else 😂 i would love to read more about him
At one point I was like girl you don’t need to meet Laurie but it was needed and I feel like Laurie kinda felt remorse a little bit. I wish we got more chapters with the little one😤 i would pay just to see ivy with her😂😂 I can’t tell she is going to be like those aunt that when mum says no they say go ahead it’s fine 😂😂 Oh my goodness that moment when the title of the book makes sense 😩
Isn’t She Lovely is a heartfelt and emotional dive into motherhood, healing, and the complicated beauty of love. Isn’t She Lovely follows Olive and Hunter as they navigate the excitement and fear of starting a family while Olive confronts the lingering shadows of her past.
Olive’s journey toward self-acceptance is the heart of the story. Her complicated relationship with her mother adds emotional depth and gives readers something real to connect with.
This novella doesn’t shy away from the raw realities of pregnancy and motherhood. It captures the vulnerability, fear, and overwhelming love that can come with that journey.
Even with the heavier themes, Mikell sprinkles in lighthearted moments that keep the story balanced and genuinely enjoyable.
This story is a continuation from Book 1 - Baby It's You and I recommend you reading both book 1 & 2 in the Clairesville series prior to reading this one. There's so much history and information in book 1 that really sets the stage for this one.
Hunter and Olive are continuing in their life together happily in love and have decided that maybe a baby is in their future. Olive had a very troubled childhood and has a lot of issues with her mom so she's a bit of afraid about starting a family and her being a mom. Kudos to the author for addressing the issue and not shying away from it.
Loved the book! Thank you Nicole Mikell and Rattle the Stars PR for the advanced copy. The review is mine.
This is the sweetest novella! It’s a short and easy read, but full of amazing content! The story line is adorable and emotional. It’s very relatable and addresses multiple problems that I’m sure many people face all the time. I felt so many emotions for the characters.
I read this in two short sittings! I definitely could have finished it in one, but of course I started it late at night. 😂 I didn’t want to put it down and I didn’t want it to end.
By the way, Hunter is still my favorite and such a green flag!
You do need to read Nicole’s other books before this one! They are Baby, It’s You and You Can’t Hurry Love. Loved them both and highly recommend!
Nicole is an author I will always read! Give her books a try! I think you’ll fall in love with them too!
*** First, I just want to say thank you so much to Nicole Mikell and the Rattle the Stars PR team for the opportunity to read and review this ARC! I loved that this novella was super short and so easy to read! In this novella, we follow Olive and Hunter again on their journey to start a family together. I've never found another author who has been able to write about such real and often times hard topics in such a beautiful way! I look forward to continuing to read more of Nicole Mikell's writing!!
Isn’t She Lovely is a short novella that packs a punch. It draws you right back into Clairesville and Whiskey Jane’s. Hunter and Olive are back and just as wonderfully in love as they were when we left them. The author has a way of making you fall in love with the characters all over again. She addresses both trama and healing in a beautifully written way. Hunter is the sweetest, yet protective man and helps Olive close a chapter in her life that has been a long time coming. I had happy tears when Olive makes her announcement to Hunter. The ending was like their story coming full circle and I for one will miss this little family. Absolute must read.
