Ok...so this is probably the third or so novel of hers I've read and it's all the same basic plot. Poor/in debt omega gets involved with some mafia don or other (Russian, Italian, etc), omega proves himself invaluable to the organization, someone kidnaps the omega, alpha mafia don rescues him, the end (may or may not be pregnant at some point). The plot is predictable on top of that and some characters' actions make no sense (how the villain in this one was so obsessed with having Alex, the omega, to the point that he started a war to get him-just because Ilya had gotten him first and he wanted to possess him in order to break him). Why would he blow up his own organization just for one omega? Another issue I have with this author is that she seems to have about 10 or so male names that she knows are common in Italian or Russian households. There were two (maybe three? one may've died) Sergeis, two Mikhails, and two Viktors in this one. It made it hard to keep up with who's who. And then you meet Ilya's Aunt Katya-and Ilya and Alex are also naming their baby girl Katya. I mean, it's confusing. She also has multiple characters with the same name in her other novels that make it hard to keep up with who's who.
While I did enjoy the story concept, it was shallow and rushed, and I'm pretty sure it was written by AI. There was a lot of repetitive statements, and there were even a few instances of a character switch in the middle of a scene, where the scene started off with it being one person, and ended with it being an entirely different person.
Alex owns my whole heart--this book killed me. it hurt how Alex was sold by his father, and he was expecting the worst. And then he got Ilya, who wanted to give him all the choices he had never had before. I loved how Ilya wanted him to feel safe in all things and always made sure to ask him before he did anything. I love how he assured Alex that he would always have choices and Ilya would never take anything by force.
I liked how Alex started working on Ilya's books and rooted out inefficiencies and traitors. I liked how he made himself useful to the business and how the others started seeing him as more than the omega their boss had bought. I liked how Alex proved himself. I loved how he and Ilya worked in the office together and slowly got to know one another and how Alex started trusting Ilya.
It killed me how Viktor started a war over Alex and wanted him back. I loved how Ilya was never going to let that happen. I'm not sure why Alex believed his dad's story about an aunt and cousin he had never even heard of before... And it was super confusing that basically everyone in this book shared the same five names. Not sure what that was about, except that it constantly left me very confused.
But I loved Alex and Ilya and everything about them and their relationship and how they shared Alex's heat and had a little girl. They were so cute and sweet and I died over Ilya being the mafia boss he was known to be, killing to get to his mate.
First time reading this author. Fast paced omegaverse, mafia story complete with forced arranged marriage, a high heat mating, and plenty of blood and guts to whet your reading appetite.
This was fast-paced yet balanced, and we didn't linger on any one element of the story. A few things that niggled at me were the name, having more than one character with the same name is just a no.
This was going soo well until yeah amma call it stupid, until Alex became predictable by believing his father's lie I mean this man sold you only to end up in the same situation he betrayed you for, you know your family line so why the heck would a sudden cousin come from nowhere AND only then did you think about the safety of your baby!
I'm all for love but Ilya dude you are the head of your criminal empire why the heck would you risk your husband and child on a lie you KNEW for a fact was a lie!!!!! Like come on man! Sure it was a way for drama but again it was too predictable and unwise.
With all that being said I really enjoyed this and I'm slowly becoming a fan of the omegaverse genre. The writing is so smooth and sensual that you feel like you're a part of every scene.
First Book with an Alpha and Omega....a little confused, but I like it.
I'm a romance girly, but I haven't gotten into books outside the norm yet. This was definitely my first one, but I think it was a good gateway drug. I was a little confused by the terminology and quite frankly some of the anatomy, but you know what it worked. at the end of the day two people fell in love.
The MMCs came together in an unconventional way. I was definitely not a fan of how they came together, but I was all for how they ended.Ilya was kind and respectful from the beginning and gave Alex the time that he needed to really grasp the situation. Total fan of that! The book was short, but the author did a good job of creating a slow burn. and of course there's a happy ending. I would definitely recommend it.
As some other rewies stated i'm also pretty sure this was written by ai. And than nobody proofread ist bevor publishing it. There is one Szene, where Ales describes that he come into Ilyas Office and there are four people who look at him. But then there are only 3 people who interact in the szene and at the end he says 3 people leave. Like you could have catched that if you just read what you published. Also it seems like the Author knows like 10 russians names and so its really confusing. The omegaversepart is not a big plotpoint in the story and feels like an afterthougt just so Alex can get pregnant.
Imagine being an Omega already living in a mafia world and having your father seek you twice to settle his debt... I’ve enjoyed this book but the repetition was overwhelming. The story is solid and enjoyable but the constant repetitions were driving me mad. Ilya was far too sweet and understanding. Alex, was well aware of his circumstances and super smart. We were practically given a heads up on his thoughts and feelings which made waiting for his heat to reach 100% intimacy with Ilya feel less like a bonding experience and more like a chore. Furthermore, they didn’t mate at the end? Why even mention it with the villain if the mmcs won’t even consider it?
Overall enjoyable. The writing wasn’t terrible at all, I was very surprised because usually with Mpreg they’re ridiculously fast paced and incoherent mostly but not this one. Easy to follow, great pace and I did love both characters. However, there is a LOT of repetitive statements and even some side characters had the same name which was VERY confusing when one was kind of a plot point. Such a small thing but definitely kept my thoughts straying from the story to “Wait, I’ve read this before” or “I thought this character did THIS? Were they different people??”
This seems like it was written in AI. There were multiple uses of the same name for various people. It became comical. The father was named Victor. The bad guy was named Victor. There was an Aunt Katya and then a reference to the mother possibly also being Katya, and then they decided to name their baby Katya. There is more than one Sergei, there are two Dimitri’s I mean, come on.
This is a good Omegaverse novel. Z It doesn’t dive too deep into the lore of alphas and omega’s, but it gives enough information to where you get the gist of it. Also, it’s a pretty straightforward story. There’s not much world building, but somehow you can tell the main characters love each other. If you want to quick read that is sweet with a HE then dive right in.
I love mafia books and this one was cute, I like that it was insta love or the main characters didn’t magically like each other at first sight. A good light read but not a lot of depth so depends on what your looks for. I would probably read again.
I love a good mafia story with a baby and happy ending. While it has a touch of the same storyline as another of her books, financial whiz, etc. it is still a goid read and enjoyable story.
This book delivered everything I want from a mafia omegaverse: high stakes, intense arranged marriage tension, and a possessive alpha who slowly reveals real depth.
It was dark, gripping, and completely binge-worthy. Read those warnings!!
It would have been better if most of the names had been unique. I'm pretty sure that other than the main couple, Yuri, and Galina, all the other first names were used at least two times. Some were used three times.
Had a good start, but my god, it was very repetitive, like literally the same sentences non stop. I would suggest the writer to give it to someone to read before head with a critical eye.
It was a pretty ok novel but the unoriginal and repetitive uses of the same names was a little bit exhausting. Pretty sure a quick Google search could’ve helped with the name issue.
