When my grandmother died, she left me her beloved sunflower farm. And now Ryder Blackwell wants to destroy it.
He blusters into town with a BMW and a plan to build fugly apartments next to my grandmother's sunflower farm, but I won't let big Manhattan money ruin the charm of this place.
He sends me gift baskets to win my favor. I push him into the stream. He buys an overpriced rooster to grease the mayor on my behalf. I deny the easement he so desperately needs. He strips down to his skivvies to save my historic water wheel and–
I give in. Just a kiss. A touch. A night.
But when he needs to take care of urgent business in Manhattan, my begrudging fondness for him turns to longing.
We both have big lives in very different places. Responsibilities that can't be handled by anyone else.
This book was cute!! There was cute banter and a deliciously spicy scene at the waterwheel.
A feisty sunflower farm owner, a former small town boy back from the big city are a classic romcom match. Add in a corrupt politician, a struggling sunflower farm, and hurricane winds, and you have plenty of "hold your breath" moments.
This book is cute and perfect for a cozy read
Overall: would recommend for an easy read spice: open door
First, a huge thank you to Ally Williams for the ARC! This book was so cute and spicy, perfect banter and enemies to lovers. this book has it all! The feisty sunflower farm owner and the rich developer, small town, corrupt politician, past family trauma.…add this to your TBR and read as soon as it releases!
I am grateful to have received an ARC edition of this book from Ally Williams ahead of beta reading the 2nd in the series.
I have been an Ally Williams fan since the beginning of her Love and City Lights series, and I continue to be a fan.
Ally wrote a perfectly flawed MMC in Ryder, well intentioned and willing to own and fix his mistakes while prioritizing Eve/Evie/Evelyn, our wonderful FMC.
This book felt like all your favorite Christmas tree farm romances, but set on a sunshine-filled, Sunflower Farm with a historic water wheel and lots of ties to the small town.
There was small town drama, excellent side characters, yearning, quickly rectified miscommunication and a sweet grandma.
I received an ARC in exchange for my honest review.
Eve Harper, of Sunflower Hills, inherited the town’s namesake sunflower farm from her grandmother and now runs it single-handedly. Ryder Blackwell, Manhattanite and big shot developer, has bought the land adjacent to Eve’s farm to presumably build more of his shitty apartments, when she finds him on her property, uninvited, measuring her stream. She confronts him, swearing to herself to ruin whatever plans he has. That is until he shows up to the town council meeting looking like a lumberjack. Will Eve start catching feelings for her frustrating, temporary neighbor? Can Ryder charm her into getting what he wants, or is there more to him? Find out in this adorable, witty, dual POV, mildly spicy novel by Ally Williams - the first in her new Sunflower Hills series! Available January 31st.
I loved this book! Eve is a firecracker who has no qualms with telling it like it is. She is witty and hard working and has some childhood trauma from her mother abandoning her to her grandmother at a young age. Then in waltzes Ryder like he owns the place, cocky and sure of himself, a wildly successful developer from the city. But as Eve gets to know him she realizes there’s more to him than she first thought. He also had a hard childhood, inherited his business from his dad and has worked hard to make it better under his leadership. She immediately intrigues him, and against her will, she begins to warm for him. The storyline was great, I really enjoyed it and the characters! I have a few in mind I’d like to see in the next books.
01/10/2026-01/16/2026 Thank you so much Ally for another great digital proof! 🫶🏻
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (Coming 01/31/2026)
I feel as though every book Ally writes somehow becomes better than the last! Midnight Sunflowers was proof that talent, dedication and love make masterpieces! 🌻
I may be biased because Namaste and Code All Day was my very first proof, well before I picked up my physical book reading habits or bookstagram account. I applied on my personal page having no idea what arc reading was, and read it on my phone each night before bed. Ally was the spark that led me back to books over two years ago! 🥹
However, biased or not Ally has once again taken me on another emotional journey through enemies to lovers with a slow agonizing unfolding, winding plot twists and a historic water wheel. 😏
This book is a must read, and honestly a diamond surrounded by rocks! If you find this book please do yourself a favor and read it! 💎
Absolutely loved this. It was the perfect read if you’re looking for fun banter, a little bit of enemy to lovers vibes, some town drama, and perfect amount of spice! I’ve enjoyed all of Ally’s books, but this is definitely my favorite.
I loved Eve! She’s feisty, sassy, and knows what she wants. She will do anything to protect her farm and land. Her quips and banter with Ryder made me laugh, and I liked that we got to see some of her vulnerable side. Ryder is the definition of a man yearning. He does everything he can to show Eve he’s a good man and will do anything and everything to help her. The relationship with his grandmother is precious too. Great group of side characters that I hope we see more of!
Thank you to Ally Williams for the opportunity to ARC read this. Always a great time!
I am so pleased I received an ARC copy of this book.
This was such a good read. I have been in a reading slump, which is now over because of this book. The FMC and MMC were both likable and relatable. Evie was such a fun character to get to know. I loved her quirkiness and nerdy moments. I mean, who wouldn’t love to charge their phone using water wheel electricity? Ryder was the perfect opposite to her. It was a quick read without too much spice; a perfect palate cleanser if spicy is your thing. Honestly the spice was “chef’s kiss”. I am giving it four star s because I felt it was a little slow in the first few chapters, but once I got to about chapter 5. I would highly recommend this book if you like light- hearted romance with a little bit of spice. I will definitely be trying for an ARC of her next one in this series.
A big thanks to Ally for the advanced reader copy of Midnight Sunflowers! I've been in sort of a reading hiatus, as I've been busy with taking up new hobbies and making Christmas gifts (read: crocheting a ton of hats for everyone). When I received the email for an opportunity to apply to be an ARC reader last week, I thought it might take me a bit longer than normal to read since I've been on said hiatus. Welp, I was wrong. I started reading this book on Jan 13 and finished it on Jan 14.
The book is super cute and has small town charm and an enemies-to-lovers energy that leaves you with all the good feels. Don't hesitate to pick it up, or any of her other books!
I just love Ally's books. Theyre fun to read, the spice is always good and they have enough real life conflict that the book and happily ever after doesnt feel forced. I loved how this relationship grew and morphed. I liked how each character stood their ground and didnt give up their lives but still acknowledged they were good together and fit together. It just was a really satisfying read to see these two fall in love and find theyre happy place. Also, the setting of this sunflower field and cabin looking over it all.. give me that immediately please. Can't wait to see what else this town gets up to in her future books!
I think this book might be my favorite that I've written so far. This is an enemies-to-lovers, small town romance set in the fictional town of Sunflower Hill. And it gives me all of the warm fuzzies knowing that my readers will soon get to experience Eve and Ryder's love story with me!
Inside you'll find: 🏢 Manhattan developer x small town farm girL 💪🏼 A feisty heroine 🏡 Cozy small town vibes 👯♀️ A chaotically kind friend group 🐓 $20,000 rooster named... Roo 🎡 A very spicy water wheel scene 🌻 340 instances of the word "sunflower"
Thank you Ally Williams for the advanced reader copy of Midnight Sunflowers!
This book had me smiling while reading the whole thing. Eve owns a sunflower farm and Ryder is a city guy coming in to build a development next to the farm. Eve is not going to make it easy for him.
One of the best enemies to lovers stories I have read.
Eve and Ryder... hot damn. I loved the story and especially loved the ending. I love when a romance is all wrapped up with a bow and you get a glimpse into the characters’ futures. Ugh I can’t wait for book two!
Thankful for receiving an ARC of this book. It’s really cute and I loved the banter in it. Slight enemy to lovers, she’s witty and a little grumpy, he’s a sunshine MMC. Some good spice too.
