When my grandmother died, she left me her beloved sunflower farm.
And now Ryder Blackwell wants to destroy it.

He blusters into town with a BMW and a plan to build fugly apartments next to my grandmother's sunflower farm, but I won't let big Manhattan money ruin the charm of this place.

He sends me gift baskets to win my favor. I push him into the stream. He buys an overpriced rooster to grease the mayor on my behalf. I deny the easement he so desperately needs. He strips down to his skivvies to save my historic water wheel and–

I give in. Just a kiss. A touch. A night.

But when he needs to take care of urgent business in Manhattan, my begrudging fondness for him turns to longing.

We both have big lives in very different places. Responsibilities that can't be handled by anyone else.

I just hope I can convince him to stay.

This book was cute!! There was cute banter and a deliciously spicy scene at the waterwheel.

A feisty sunflower farm owner, a former small town boy back from the big city are a classic romcom match. Add in a corrupt politician, a struggling sunflower farm, and hurricane winds, and you have plenty of "hold your breath" moments.

This book is cute and perfect for a cozy read

Overall: would recommend for an easy read
spice: open door

I am grateful to have received an ARC edition of this book from Ally Williams ahead of beta reading the 2nd in the series.

I have been an Ally Williams fan since the beginning of her Love and City Lights series, and I continue to be a fan.

Ally wrote a perfectly flawed MMC in Ryder, well intentioned and willing to own and fix his mistakes while prioritizing Eve/Evie/Evelyn, our wonderful FMC.

This book felt like all your favorite Christmas tree farm romances, but set on a sunshine-filled, Sunflower Farm with a historic water wheel and lots of ties to the small town.

There was small town drama, excellent side characters, yearning, quickly rectified miscommunication and a sweet grandma.

I adored this book and can’t wait for Book 2!

Ally William's first book in the Sunflower Hill series is a sweet and spicy story featuring an enemies-to-lovers romance peppered with beautiful descriptions of the sunflower-filled town where it takes place. I adore Eve and Ryder (and Izzy and Gam and literally everyone but Mayor Reed). The characters felt like old friends by the end of the book which is honestly my favorite part of any great book series, and Ally has managed to elicit that feeling with just the first book. Her writing is just gorgeous and paints the most pristine picture of this small flower-filled town. I want to hear about more adventures and antics with Eve and her friends in Sunflower Hill. I have heard book 2 should be on its way soon, and I am hoping and praying there'll be a third or more! 5/5 stars AMAZING

I was so excited to see that one of my favorite authors, Ally Williams, was back with a new book. Midnight Sunflowers was everything I hoped it would be and I loved it! I love a good enemies to lovers romance novel especially when you can tell the enemies part isn’t going to last long and in this case, Eve and Ryder truly fell head over heels for each other with a strong attraction mixed with tenderness and care. There are some wonderful spicy scenes and Ryder cares for Eve when she is sick which is one of my favorite microtropes. The ending was especially moving and sweet and exactly the HEA that I wanted for this couple. Thank you to Ally Williams for the opportunity to read this early.

I received an ARC of Midnight Sunflowers and am voluntarily leaving this review.

This was such a cute, light, and easy read. The story flows smoothly and is perfect if you’re looking for something fun and low-stress.
Ryder is a total golden retriever MMC, and the grumpy vs. sunshine dynamic was adorable. Their chemistry felt natural and engaging, and the creative spicy waterwheel scene was definitely a standout.
Overall, this is a cozy, feel-good romance that’s easy to enjoy and hard not to smile through.

No spoilers. Read via kindle (ARC).

I knew I had to read this because 1 I love reading Ally Williams books and 2 I love sunflowers. I absolutely fell in love with these characters of this small town (except for one, you’ll know easily when you read it). The story had a great background, present, and situations that kept your attention on finding out more things. The banter and spice was so good. Also I always read the epilogue, but most of them are predictable and similar, but this one had an update on everyone, along with a beautiful picture perfect scene —it gave me lots of feels and loved it.

Would I recommend? Yes, if you enjoy Laurie Gilmore’s small town vibes and Meghan Quinn’s banter/spice, you will love this one! This book releases on January 31st and the next book will be out this spring as well!

Thank you Ally Williams the author for hand selecting me to read this ARC! I am sorry I was late to finish!

I truly enjoyed the story! It was sweet, funny and loved the sunflower farm! Eve and Ryder were so sweet together! Ryder is an amazing book boyfriend.

The only reason I gave it 4 stars was because I could put it down and walk away easily. It seemed a bit slow at times.

3.75 ⭐️ (rounded to 4)

I’ve been following along since the Love and City Lights series, so I was excited to dive into this new series. AND it couldn’t have come during a more perfect time; I started this book during a snowstorm (where we were anticipating two feet of snow) and an escape to a beautiful sunflower farm was the PERFECT solution!

🌻 Sunflower Farm Owner
🌻 Manhattan Real Estate Developer
🌻 Small Town
🌻 Enemies to Lovers
🌻 “Home”

FMC: Evelyn Harper (Eve, Evie)
MMC: Ryder Blackwell

Eve’s plan had always been to take over her grandmother’s sunflower farm when the time came, but she didn’t anticipate having to drop out of college to do it. Ryder walked a similar path inheriting his father’s real estate development company. Eve vowed to protect the sunflower farm just the way her grandmother had, while Ryder was determined to leave a different - more positive - imprint on people, unlike the one his father left behind. When Ryder arrives back to his hometown of Sunflower Hill, he starts off on the wrong foot with Eve, and not just because she pushed him into the stream. Ryder assures Eve he has her best interest at heart and wants to work together to figure out the best solutions for their respective lands. Buying this property is personal for Ryder. Eve is determined to stick to her grounds. But sometimes ground shake and so don’t the feelings we thought we knew were solid.

Midnight Sunflowers was such a cute and quick read! I immediately loved the banter between Eve and Ryder right off the bat. Their chemistry felt electric (and inevitable) and had you rooting for them the entire time. Their family backgrounds played a huge part in their stories, individually and together, and made for a strong foundation for their relationship. Eve was a strong and independent character because she didn’t have an option not to be. She didn’t let Ryder intimidate her and held her ground. Ryder proved who he set out to be and always had Eve’s best interest in mind, even when she didn’t know it. The side characters were enjoyable (besides Major Reed) and I can’t wait to continue reading more stories in the Sunflower Hill universe!

Standouts:
Waterwheel scene, IYKYK.

Thank you to Book Funnel and of course author Ally Williams for providing me an advanced reader copy in exchange for my honest review.

First Impressions: This is a super sweet, rivals-to-lovers story with loveable characters set against a gorgeous little town background.

Pacing: The book takes place over a month or so, and the pace feels authentic to that passage of time. There's a bit of push and pull between our MCs that feels genuine, even accounting for their early shared physical attraction.

Character development: Our MCs (Eve and Ryder) have a fair bit of baggage to unpack between them, but they grow together as a result of those burdens rather in spite of them. They both have phenomenal support systems and are keenly aware of the toxicity they both emerged from. I can't wait to see other duos from this series in their own stories.

World Building: A few more details of the MCs' trip to NYC would have been nice, but the period feels like a nice breather from their time in Sunflower Hill. Sunflower Hill has all the cozy trappings of a small, tourist town, but with some very grounded realities of the politics and struggles of a town that relies on tourism. The description of the "all-hands-on-deck" event ahead of the big storm feels very grounded for anyone who has worked in an industry with a perishable end product.

Romance: The romance emerges early, but not easily. The author gives our MCs some time to learn and challenge each other, without the obligatory "insta-love" trope. Our MCs feel mature and level-headed, giving the romance substance.

Spice: The spice is nice. I'd give it a 3.5/5 for being open door with tasteful descriptive text. Nothing to clutch pearls over, but saucy enough to make those encounters feel special and pertinent to the story.

Errors and Consistency: The prose were well-edited, the voice consistent, and I found no obvious spelling or grammatical errors. The voices of our MCs, as a duet, feel unique to each POV.

Overall experience: This was such a fun romcom! "Midnight Sunflowers" is the first book I've reviewed for Ally Williams and I can't wait to see what the next story from Sunflower Hill has in store for readers.

4.5/5 highly recommend!

I received an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Eve Harper, of Sunflower Hills, inherited the town’s namesake sunflower farm from her grandmother and now runs it single-handedly. Ryder Blackwell, Manhattanite and big shot developer, has bought the land adjacent to Eve’s farm to presumably build more of his shitty apartments, when she finds him on her property, uninvited, measuring her stream. She confronts him, swearing to herself to ruin whatever plans he has. That is until he shows up to the town council meeting looking like a lumberjack. Will Eve start catching feelings for her frustrating, temporary neighbor? Can Ryder charm her into getting what he wants, or is there more to him? Find out in this adorable, witty, dual POV, mildly spicy novel by Ally Williams - the first in her new Sunflower Hills series! Available January 31st.

I loved this book! Eve is a firecracker who has no qualms with telling it like it is. She is witty and hard working and has some childhood trauma from her mother abandoning her to her grandmother at a young age. Then in waltzes Ryder like he owns the place, cocky and sure of himself, a wildly successful developer from the city. But as Eve gets to know him she realizes there’s more to him than she first thought. He also had a hard childhood, inherited his business from his dad and has worked hard to make it better under his leadership. She immediately intrigues him, and against her will, she begins to warm for him. The storyline was great, I really enjoyed it and the characters! I have a few in mind I’d like to see in the next books.

Had to finish this despite having an exam tomorrow because… poor decision making? Regardless, I absolutely loved this one. Evie was sassy, feisty, and someone I was glad to follow around. “Big Suit” Ryder was perfect for her, and the times where he takes care of her had me melting. AND THAT END. I loved it so much and planning out their future home was the cutest thing he could’ve done to fix the situation. Oh, did I mention I’m so glad there wasn’t a 3rd act breakup even though I was so sure it would happen? Really appreciated how Eve didn’t run from Ryder that time. But the house. That’s how you end a book, not by having the hockey player do a figure skating routine in the middle of a game. Love love love and cannot wait for the next one.

Quotes I loved:
“this town’s obsession with sunflowers borders on psychotic.” (Honestly yeah but it’s fine we love it)

“I’d let him develop my land, if you know what I mean.” (Girl yes same)

“From the very beginning, all I wanted was a good working relationship with her to eliminate any issues with the community I’ll be building next door.
But now, I think I might just want her.”

“Eve? Your sunflower girl?”

“I love you, Evie Harper. Despite the short amount of time we’ve known each other and the project that looms over us, unresolved. I love your smile and your blue dress. I don’t care whether we’re here or in Sunflower Hill. Who we’re with or what we’re doing.”

“My future is the sunflower girl.
If she’ll have me.”

“The world is yours, Evie Harper. Tell me what you want and I’ll make it happen.”

“I love you, Evie. And I can’t wait to spend every midnight right here with you.”

Oh, my swoon. Are you ready to fall in love? Because I fell in love with everything and everyone in this book. The town of Sunflower Hill? Love. Eve Harper? Love. Ryder Blackwell? Love. Gram? Vic? Izzy? Aiden? Luke? Love, love, love, love. The rooster that lives next door to awful Mayor Reed? Adore to pieces. Ally Williams has delivered another world full of characters so real that I would not be surprised if I met one out at the Post Office.

This book is full of emotional depths - both Eve and Ryder are dealing with parental abandonment (both physical and emotional) and were raised by strong grandmothers. They both grapple with pull of career versus personal life. With burnout and compromise for a relationship and whether or not a person is destined to turn into their parents and repeat the mistakes that they made. And all of these beautiful and universal struggles take place in the shadows of a sunflower farm. THE sunflower farm that put Sunflower Hill on the map.

And not for nothing, Ally Williams knows small town bureaucracy. As someone who lives in a small town and has dealt with a selectboard and zoning officials, I was tickled to read Ryder’s development plan approval journey. Little moments like this in Ally’s books make me so happy.

Oh, and don’t worry - there is spice. That water wheel scene? I swooned. Then looked around the living room, panicked that my family realized I now have a water wheel fantasy. Is historical building repair a kink? It is now. And I am here for it.

🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻 ARC REVIEW!!!!

Midnight Sunflowers by Ally Williams is the kind of story that feels like golden hour wrapped around your heart.

From the very beginning, the sunflower farm feels alive with history, love, and grief. The FMC’s connection to her grandmother and the land is tender and deeply emotional, making every threat to it feel personal. You can feel the weight of what she is trying to protect, not just a place but a legacy.

Ryder Blackwell is such a fun contrast to this world. He storms in all city confidence and polished ambition, but quickly proves he is more than the corporate villain trope. Watching him stumble, soften, and genuinely try in the most ridiculous and endearing ways had me smiling nonstop. The banter between them is sharp, playful, and full of chemistry that builds naturally instead of rushing.

The romance unfolds in quiet moments and big feelings. One kiss turns into something much deeper, and the emotional pull when distance and responsibility enter the picture is beautifully done. The longing feels real, grounded in two people who care deeply but are pulled in different directions.

Midnight Sunflowers is heartfelt, charming, and full of warmth. It is a story about love, choosing what matters, and believing that sometimes roots and wings can exist together. If you love small town romance with humor, heart, and a soft emotional glow, this book is absolutely worth your time. 🌻

*I received an ARC and am leaving a voluntary, honest review.*

Evie inherits a sunflower farm from her grandmother and dreams of making it so successful. The problem? Ryder, a city developer, scoops in and purchases land beside Evie's farm, with the intention of building ugly apartments that ruin small town life. She's against him, his big city tactics, and his plans from the very beginning. But as the days progress, he continues to charm her and they have to decide what their futures look like.

This was so cute! I've been on the Christmas tree farm romance since December so it's nice to transition to sunflowers 🌻. It's obvious both Evie and Ryder have different pasts, but share similar heartbreaks. There were many times I wanted to shake some sense into Evie because she seemed to live so much in the past and worry about what the present and future looks like, based on her troubled past. She almost protected her heart a little too much. Ryder seemed more mature and willing to take risks to be with her. Anyways, this was very well written (as all of Ally Williams' books are) and I can't wait to read the second book in the series!

“I can’t wait to spend every midnight right here with you”

Thank you so much for the opportunity to receive an ARC of this. I genuinely enjoyed the entirety of this book, I never once looked to see how far I was because I was immersed in the story and enjoying the ride!

Eve is the owners of a Sunflower farm she inherited and is strong and independent and far from a damsel in destress. She works from before the sun is up until well after it’s down and does not like asking for help.

Ryder is a rich businessman who buys the land next door and quickly learns there is more than meets the eye with the beautiful sunflower farm girl.

Personally I loved the slow build of the relationship and felt it was never rushed and gave it time for them to truly understand and get to know each other. I also really appreciated that there really is not a third act breakup that are notorious in this genre.

I could go on and on but I don’t want to spoil anything but I’ll leave it this, you will not be disappointed and I HIGHLY recommend! 🌻

Thank you to Ally Williams for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

Rating: 3/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Season: Summer 🌻

Risk of crying: Low 0/5

Review: I’ve enjoyed Ally’s books before and am honored to be one who got an advanced copy. While I really wanted to love it, I just didn’t. The characters for me never connected with each other or me the way I wanted them to. While their backgrounds are built nicely, they stagnated and didn’t progress for too long of the book for me to stay interested. I didn’t feel the conflict - him wanted to build a structure right next to her picturesque sunflower farm - was used enough. Instead of enemies to lovers, this was more regular people with a business miscommunication/misalignment and hang out in misunderstanding for a while. With the setup, I expected some banter, humor, tension - but I just didn’t get it. I also felt the story would resolve issues just to bring them back again. However, I did love the small town feel, the sunflower farm description, and the grandmother.

(Coming 01/31/2026)

I feel as though every book Ally writes somehow becomes better than the last! Midnight Sunflowers was proof that talent, dedication and love make masterpieces! 🌻

I may be biased because Namaste and Code All Day was my very first proof, well before I picked up my physical book reading habits or bookstagram account. I applied on my personal page having no idea what arc reading was, and read it on my phone each night before bed. Ally was the spark that led me back to books over two years ago! 🥹

However, biased or not Ally has once again taken me on another emotional journey through enemies to lovers with a slow agonizing unfolding, winding plot twists and a historic water wheel. 😏

This book is a must read, and honestly a diamond surrounded by rocks! If you find this book please do yourself a favor and read it! 💎

I’ve been stalking Ally’s social media wondering when a new book was coming! I was so excited to see Midnight Sunflowers coming! I’m so thankful to have been given the opportunity to read another one of hear amazing stories!

This book for sure overuses the word 🌻 sunflower🌻 and she admits how many times at the beginning of the book which I loved! This book had me giggling at the way Eve refused to allow Ryder anything he asked for and when she didn’t know how else to say what she wanted she pushed him in the water!

Eve has always been out for herself, her sunflowers and her town! Anything else was just a distraction that was keeping her from making her Grandparents proud.

Ryder challenges himself daily to do better than his father, to be a better person, boss, entrepreneur. Ryder does his best to work with Eve and she repeatedly tells him no, even when he only has the best intentions for her and her sunflowers.

I loved this story and am so excited for more in this series!

Midnight Sunflowers is very much a slow burner—but one that rewards patience. While the pacing unfolds gently, the story itself is deeply enthralling, drawing you in through emotion, growth, and connection rather than haste.
What I loved most was the way Ryder and Eve worked together through everything life threw at them. Ryder never tried to change Eve or dim her convictions; instead, he gave her the space and support to stand up for herself and her beliefs. In doing so, Eve was able to recognize her own strength and inner fire. Equally beautiful was Eve’s impact on Ryder—by letting him in, she offered him a softer, more hopeful outlook on the world, and watching that shift was incredibly moving.
Their relationship felt balanced, respectful, and earned, which made every shared moment resonate that much more.
A truly wondrous story, and one I feel privileged to have experienced through an early copy. Here’s to all of us finding our favourite midnight. 🌙🌻

Absolutely loved this. It was the perfect read if you’re looking for fun banter, a little bit of enemy to lovers vibes, some town drama, and perfect amount of spice! I’ve enjoyed all of Ally’s books, but this is definitely my favorite.

I loved Eve! She’s feisty, sassy, and knows what she wants. She will do anything to protect her farm and land. Her quips and banter with Ryder made me laugh, and I liked that we got to see some of her vulnerable side. Ryder is the definition of a man yearning. He does everything he can to show Eve he’s a good man and will do anything and everything to help her. The relationship with his grandmother is precious too. Great group of side characters that I hope we see more of!

Thank you to Ally Williams for the opportunity to ARC read this. Always a great time!

Midnight Sunflowers is such a beautiful story that made me smile so hard while reading! 🥹🩷 It’s the perfect combo of sweet and spicy and it’s truly a fun read! 🫶

I love Evie and Ryder so much and Iove their banter and chemistry so much! 🤭🔥 I’m also the biggest fan of enemies to lovers and Evie and Ryder are true enemies and that tension between them just made this story so much more entertaining to read. Don’t even get me started on the rooster scene because that scene was my favorite and had me laughing so hard that I snorted! 🐓🤣

I loved the sunflower farm and Evelyn's fight to protect her grandmother's farm. She may not have taken over like she planned, but she's determined and hardworking. If that means pushing the wealthy land developer into her creek well that's what she will do.

Ryder won't let almost not drowning in the creek stop him for his plan to develop a better community for his grandmother. He wants to work with Evelyn to build it and truly wants to do good if only she would listen to him.

Midnight Sunflowers is a cute enemies to lovers where they both fall head over heels for each other. The banter back and forth makes for some great laugh out loud moments. Ryder and Evelyn end up working together uncovering some dirt on the small town.

ARC review

This was my first time reading a book by Ally Williams and I really enjoyed it. This book had sweet small town vibes and I love the idea of the sunflower farm and all the things tied into it. Eve runs the farm left to her by her grandmother and it is all she can focus on, often times to her own detriment. Ryder could easily be a stuffy city guy, but he adapts back to small town life so well. He is a precious green flag MMC who takes care of Eve and his sassy grandmother. I loved that he worked hard for his relationship with Eve and allowed her to still be independent, just nurtured.

Overall this was a great introduction to Ally Williams and I look forward to reading more of her books.

A big thanks to Ally for the advanced reader copy of Midnight Sunflowers! I've been in sort of a reading hiatus, as I've been busy with taking up new hobbies and making Christmas gifts (read: crocheting a ton of hats for everyone). When I received the email for an opportunity to apply to be an ARC reader last week, I thought it might take me a bit longer than normal to read since I've been on said hiatus. Welp, I was wrong. I started reading this book on Jan 13 and finished it on Jan 14.

The book is super cute and has small town charm and an enemies-to-lovers energy that leaves you with all the good feels. Don't hesitate to pick it up, or any of her other books!

Decent if you’re looking for a cute summery spicy romance. There were many cheesy moments or moments I straight up cringed at, but I didn’t DNF cus I did want to see it through. I enjoyed the overall plot of this almost “enemies to lovers” situation between a real estate developer and the sunflower farm owner, and how that played out into a feud they could team up for against the nasty mayor.

I think if I was in late summer wanting a fun easy summer read, I would have appreciated it more. This is definitely a solid author, I just think this was the wrong season for me to read this one.

I want to thank the author Ally Williams and her publishing team for the eARC!

Eve Harper, the small town Sunflower Farm owner, meets Ryder Blackwell, the big shot Manhattan Developer who plans to build next door to her property. I think it was neat that our first impression of each of the main characters really was just one layer to them and that we learned so much more. Both of them inherited their jobs, but they were clearly making their own mark. This enemies to lovers story had a wonderful cast of supporting characters, a lot of small town drama and conflict to keep the story unique and interesting. Plus, some spice and real hot caretaker energy from Ryder to make you swoon!

Great start to this series. Can't wait to see what's next.

Thanks for the ARC.

I think this book might be my favorite that I've written so far. This is an enemies-to-lovers, small town romance set in the fictional town of Sunflower Hill. And it gives me all of the warm fuzzies knowing that my readers will soon get to experience Eve and Ryder's love story with me!

Inside you'll find:

🏡 Cozy small town vibes
👯‍♀️ A chaotically kind friend group
🐓 $20,000 rooster named... Roo
🎡 A very spicy water wheel scene
