truly one of the best memoirs that i have read in a long time. william scandrett writes with such depth and honesty, detailing memories that are rich, traumatic, but overflowing with overcoming.
within these pages, i saw so much of myself. there was a pulling back of the curtains point during my reading where i not only felt seen but FINALLY understood and validated. william’s tale of grief, hardship, identity, spirituality, and queerness has been, what i consider to be, a saving grace.
